Chastity Belt and Loose Tooth have shared a "digital split single" today featuring new material from both acts: Chastity Belt's A Side 'The Process' and Loose Tooth's B side 'Lonely.' Both tracks are available to download or stream worldwide from Hardly Art records and Milk! Records in Australia/New Zealand.  Fifty percent of Bandcamp sales for either track will benefit Australian wildfire relief efforts, specifically the Country Fire Authority and Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities. Chastity Belt and Loose Tooth hit the road together for a run of North American shows starting Tuesday 4 February. Upon the bands return, Loose Tooth will launch their new single 'Lonely' at The Curtin in Melbourne on Friday 13 March.  Of 'The Process,' Chastity Belt songwriter Lydia Lund explains, "The lyrics came later and are a sort of reminder of the way self-criticism can compound. When I’m in that critical state of mind, I try to suspend judgement for that current state and I find it reassuring to remember that it’s temporary - a process." As for 'Lonely.' Loose Tooth says, "We wrote ‘Lonely’ at the end of 2019. It is about an experience we witnessed when we were teenagers. #MeToo brought up a lot of realizations for many people, and for us; thinking back to us as young and vulnerable women, finishing high school and feeling invincible; we didn't realize that we could be taken advantage of by predatory and powerful men. ‘Lonely’ is about the power dynamics and manipulation of these relationships, and the lasting cycle of trauma that they can bring." THE GLOW was recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy award winning producer Stuart Price (The Killers, New Order, Madonna) First single ‘Silver’ is the band's fastest streaming song to date + came in at #20 in triple j’s hottest 100 DMA’S recently supported Liam Gallagher on his UK Arena tour The band's March Brixton Academy show sold out in less than 24 hours + sold over 40k tickets on their last headline UK tour Platinum records for ‘Delete’ and ‘Believe’ (Cher Cover). Gold records for ‘In The Air’, ‘Lay Down’, ‘Step Up The Morphine’ Currently touring Laneway festival I OH YOU are thrilled to announce DMA’S third studio album THE GLOW will be released into the world on Friday 24 April, recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Price. Today, the Sydney trio share the second cut from the album – the dark yet euphoric track ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’. Premiered overnight via triple j Good Nights and Radio 1 in the UK, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is an unexpected change of pace. Inspired by early 90s rave culture, the track is a nod to bands like Underworld, The Prodigy, Orbital and The Chemical Brothers, and furthers DMA’S incorporation of digital beats and sequencers in their songwriting process. Sitting in striking contrast to the song’s repetitive structure, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is about humanity’s struggle to be adaptable - as creatures who are fundamentally resistant to change. Breaking away from the minimalist electronica movement, the track features unapologetically busy beatscapes, a driving 4/4 pace and an adrenaline-pumping chorus showcasing Tommy O’Dell’s signature euphoric vocals. The accompanying video, directed by Bill Bleakley, was shot in Thailand and features locals from the area. VIDEO: 'Life Is A Game Of Changing' by DMA'S We filmed the clip like a documentary, with a tiny crew. For me, this clip feels like a snapshot in time for this group of friends. - Bill Bleakley First single from the record ‘Silver’ is the band’s fastest streaming song to date, with over 4 million streams in just three months and peaking at #34 on Spotify UK’s Viral 50 Chart and #50 on Australia’s Viral 50. The track has seen BBC Radio 1 plays, was named Record of the Week at Radio X and was added to the Radio X & Absolute Radio Daytime Playlist, and Evening List at Virgin Radio UK. Locally, the track was the #1 most played on triple j over the summer and has seen strong support across the Triple M and the HIT networks. ‘Silver’ and ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ set the scene for what is promising to be a monumental album from DMA’S. Recorded at Westlake Studios in West Hollywood and Rak Studios London, THE GLOW is a contemporary pop record that sees the band fulfill their world class potential with a collection of songs that are destined for arenas. From their emotive heart to their towering, anthemic hooks, the core traits that have earned the band a growing global following are all in place. But with the help of Price, DMA’S have elevated both sides of their sonic spectrum to new heights and one thing is certain: this is the most fully realised of the band’s three albums to date. DMA’S have had a whirlwind six years since exploding onto the scene in 2014 with their debut single ‘Delete’. They have released two critically acclaimed albums - Hills End (2016) and For Now (2018) – both of which charted Top 10 in the ARIA Charts and resulted in ARIA nominations for Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release. Forging their reputation abroad, the latter earned a #13 chart position in the UK as well as festival slots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds festivals. 2019 saw the Sydney natives play sold out shows across the UK and Ireland, support Liam Gallagher’s UK arena tour and sell 5 thousand tickets to their March 2020 Brixton Academy show in less than 24 hours. Back home they scored a Platinum record for ‘Delete’ plus Gold discs for ‘Lay Down’ and ‘Step Up The Morphine’. This year, the band will play Manchester’s Sounds of the City festival headlining the 8 thousand capacity Castlefield Bowl on 9 July (with tickets selling out in a couple of hours), before embarking on their UK album tour - which will see them play their biggest London headline show to date at Alexandra Palace in October, as well as a sold out Australian bushfire benefit gig to raise funds for Wildlife Victoria. As we enter the new decade, DMA’S are cementing themselves as a powerhouse act no longer on the brink of blowing up, but basking in the international spotlight. The band will be treating home crowds to new music at Laneway Festival in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Fremantle over the coming weeks. Tour Announcement | The Offspring Announce A Greatest Hits Australian Tour With Very Special Guests Sum 41

by the partae January 28, 2020
written by the partae
THE OFFSPRING, one of the world’s most exciting and enduring punk rock legends need little introduction.

Having performed over 1100 shows across the globe, selling more than 40 million albums worldwide the band are thrilled to return to Australia for their first headline tour in 16 years in April with very special guests SUM 41.

In true THE OFFSPRING style, this will be no ordinary show. Their incendiary live show will showcase wall to wall bangers of their anthemic, oft-humorous punk-pop singles throughout their impressive career including all of the band’s best-known hits such as Self Esteem, Come Out And Play (Keep ‘Em Separated), The Kids Aren’t Alright, Original Prankster, You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid and loads more!

Joining this titanic double bill of epic punk rock proportions is SUM 41 who will be performing a full one-hour set including hits such as Fat Lip, In too Deep, Still Waiting and tracks from their latest release, Order In Decline. Order In Decline is undoubtedly SUM 41’S heaviest and most aggressive album in their storied career, while also being its most dynamic and raw.

After over 15 million records sold worldwide, a Grammy Award nomination, 2 Juno Awards (7 nominations), a Kerrang! Award in 2002, as well as multiple Alternative Press Music Awards, SUM 41 are uncompromising and honest with no intention of slowing down.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these two punk power houses in action so start warming up those vocal chords, iron that crusty punk shirt and get yourself down to one of these shows.

The all-ages show will kick off at 2pm on Saturday 15 February and aims to raise over $1 million. Tickets cost $55 and are on sale now here. People are also encouraged to make an additional donation at the time of purchase to help raise as much money as possible and to show how much the Northern Beaches community cares. All profits from the show, and booking fees through the ticketing agency Humanitix, will be donated to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery campaign. The Rural Fire Service (RFS) who have been partnering with Council at other summer events to raise funds, will also be onsite collecting for their bushfire appeal. Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?  I’m currently based in Sydney, living in Cronulla. To my understanding, the music scene in town and around Sydney has been hit pretty hard by some really short sighted legislation over the last few years, some of which has very recently been repealed. I have high hopes that things will turn around and get better for artists and business, but that really comes down to people being willing to spend the money and time supporting local and independent artists.  How did you first start playing music?  I started singing lessons when I was in Year 6. I didn’t actually think anything would come of it, I just kind of figured out that I could do it and thought it keep it up as a creative outlet. When I started getting guitar lessons from my band mate Luke, we realised pretty quickly that something could be made of it if we could cobble some songs together. About a year later, here we are.  What's been happening recently?  Since pretty much the start of the year, Luke and I have been touring nationally with The Beautiful Girls, which has been fantastic. In between, we played the Make It Rain benefit in Byron, and that was just an amazing few nights. Beyond that, really just trying to consume and learn from as much new music as possible and trying desperately to write some new material.  Have you been recording lately?  Not since the first batch of recordings that yielded the songs we’ve released up until now. But myself and the band are keen to get back into the studio in the coming months to work on some new material that we’ve been playing around with for a few months. By that time, I should have already written up some new stuff too. In short, I’m optimistic that we’ll have some new stuff recorded within the year.  How do you approach the recording process?  The best approach, I think, is just to be as prepared as possible. Have the songs mostly finished either in your head or jammed out between the band. Also be willing to experiment and change up songs. It’s really hard to make changes to something that, in your head, already feels final and complete, but getting rid of that voice that says “don’t change anything, it won’t be as good” can open up a whole array of new ideas and sounds. Or it could be trash, in which case you’re going in with even less doubt about your original ideas. It’s win-win, really.  What programs/instruments do you use? During the shows, I just play an acoustic guitar of Luke’s. Really beautiful piece of kit. Otherwise, I don’t play anything. My main instrument is definitely my voice. In the studio, we record the acoustic live and Luke will jump on his Jazzmaster for effects, riffs and whatnot. We use Cubebase to record the tracks. Who do you usually work with? For the most part, it’s myself, Luke, our drummer James and our bass player Chris that make up the band. In the studio, Luke and Ian Pritchett co-produce the material.  What's been happening on the touring front? We kicked off on the Beautiful Girls’ tour at the very beginning of January. Since then it’s been either driving or flying from here to there, Queensland to Victoria back to NSW. A lot of really great shows, a lot of really great people. It’s great meeting people and talking to people in between and throughout shows, hearing what people think, what they like and what they don’t. It’s one of the best parts of touring, just seeing new people and new places.  Who are you listening to at the moment? Over the last few weeks I’ve been trying to get to some artists that have been on my list for a while that I haven’t really explored yet. Most recently, I’ve been listening through Rage Against the Machine’s discography because it keeps me awake in transit. I’ll be moving on to Outkast and Björk after that. Radiohead, Talking Heads, David Bowie and Swans make up a consistent part of my music diet. And the odd individual album here and there. Sunbather by Deafheaven made an appearance, which is about the prettiest nightmare I’ve ever subjected myself to.  Who or what influences your sound and songwriting? My songwriting is largely influenced by whatever I’m listening to at the current period in time. It’s never one artists necessarily, but I try to take the best parts or the best sounds or the best ideas from a few artists and turn it into something that, at the very least, sound like my own words. According to David Bowie, “Picasso said, it’s not what you steal, it’s how you use it”. At this point in my career, any comparisons to the people I idolise are welcome, because the people I idolise are brilliant.  What do you like to do away from music? I do a lot of video gaming. A whole lot of video gaming. Probably too much, but I think there’s massive artistic merit in games that frequently overlooked. I try to read as much as possible as well. I’ve been chugging through David Byrne’s How Music Works, which is a really, really well-written and insightful read. I’ve also been attempting, albeit slower than I would like, to catch up on a lot of movies and TV that’s been sitting on a list for far too long.  What's planned for 2020? Honestly, its hard to say. A lot of what we’re doing is playing by ear, seeing how our releases go and planning it out from there. We’re definitely keen to continue along with the tour, definitely keen to get in the studio at some point. A lot of writing in between, a lot of gigging. Basically just working on building up this pretty little empire in any way possible.  Favourite food and place to hang out? It would either be pizza or chicken. In saying that, our family restaurant, Queen Margherita in Cronulla, makes a hell of a Bolognese. By far my favourite thing in the place. As for my favourite place to hang out, there’s really nothing like home for me. But I’ll find enjoyment any place as long as I’m with the right people who can keep me distracted enough to where I don’t miss my bed too much.  Facebook: www.facebook.com/Jacksoncarrollaus/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacksoncarrollaus/?hl=en Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1xjA70Ji8QMKD1lYlrSo9b?si=a6rcGChYTY2kwxhcF0EgKQ

What’s been happening on the touring front?

What’s planned for 2020?

Minuscule is the brainchild of ukulelist Laurel Minnes, harnessing the power of a 15-piece all-female choir and an eclectic backing band to create a powerful new form of feminist pop music. Making their debut performance with a sold out set at St. Catharines In the Soil Festival, Minuscule has continually clapped, stomped and meowed their way into winning over every audience they've met. Drawing comparisons to the weaving melodies of Imogen Heap and moving experience of Choir!Choir!Choir!, Minuscule's unforgettable live performances are making choral music cool again. The debut album Great, co-produced by Minnes and Joe Lapinski (Great Lake Swimmers, Woodshed Orchestra, DRFTR) was soft released November 2019. The 10 tracks encompass a genre-bending blend of intricate five-part vocal harmonies and emotionally stirring, tongue-in-cheek lyricism - and features title track Great, which secured Minnes' recognition as Songwriter of the Year at the 2018 Niagara Music Awards. • Musical comedy improviser Marc Rebillet announces tour of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland in March 2020
  • The New Yorker’s eccentric, comedic and unpredictable musical performances are built from scratch live, earning him millions of views worldwide with over 779,000 followers on Facebook and 450,000 on YouTube
  • Before releasing his album Europe on Spotify, Rebillet improvised, recorded and streamed its entire 26 tracks whilst on a 29-day European trip live to fans
  • General Public tickets on sale Friday 31 January
Frontier Touring are delighted to welcome Dallas-born, New York City-based artist Marc Rebillet to Australia and New Zealand, performing for the first time. Infamous for his bathrobe-wearing and comical improvisational performances, centring around a BOSS RC-505 loop station, keyboard and vocals – Rebillet’s shows are a combination of soul, R&B, and house beats, blended with jokes about life’s everyday experiences.

Rebillet brings his improvisational performances to Brisbane’s The Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday 17 March, followed by Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Friday 20 March, and The Forum in Melbourne on Saturday 21 March, before heading to Auckland’s Powerstation on Tuesday 24 March. Presale tickets will be available for Frontier members from 1pm AEDT/3pm NZDT, Wednesday 29 January, with General Public tickets on sale Friday 31 January (1pm local time).

2019 was a huge year for Rebillet – sold out tours across North America, Europe and the UK and featured by Billboard as a ‘Dance Emerging Artist’ to Watch in August after releasing his album, Europe. In December Rebillet released his latest track, ‘Work That Ass For Daddy’, completely improvised in one take in true Marc Rebillet style.

‘Is Marc Rebillet the funniest man on the planet right now?’ – Irish Times

‘The Dallas-bred, New York City-based improvisational artist creates all his songs from scratch in a single setting, with his productions ranging from sensual R&B burners to hip-hop-tinged funk creations.’ – Billboard

Much of Rebillet’s music is improvised on the spot in front of his audience, and Europe is no exception. Each of the album’s 26 tracks were improvised, recorded and streamed individually via Rebillet’s YouTube channel, one-at-a-time whilst on the road during a 29 day trip around Europe, tracks include DAY 1: ‘BORDEAUX’, DAY 2: ‘GRENOBLE’ and DAY 6: ‘ZURICH’.

In August Europe was dropped, earning over 155,214 monthly streams. In addition, Rebillet regularly live streams on YouTube full sets of his seemingly unconventional music-making in his apartment and hotel rooms. Rebillet’s YouTube channel currently has over 450,000 active subscribers.

Don’t miss out on seeing this globe-spanning favourite for his first time in Australia and New Zealand in March 2020. Secure tickets early to avoid missing out!

Brown Alley Easter Thursday 9 April Novel is happy to welcome the highly anticipated return of Dusky. Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman aka Dusky is the London born duo who have steadily maintained a growing fanbase since their emergence in the early 10’s. Their 2011 breakthrough track ‘Flo Jam’ asserted itself as a club-ready anthem, worthy of it’s Beatport #1 title. This was followed by a string of other club favourites ‘Careless’, ‘Love Taking Over’ and ‘Yoohoo’.  Equally loved for their considered and well-sourced DJ sets, a Dusky set harbours all things hard-hitting, infectious and pristinely arranged. As label owners, they imbue their 17 Steps imprint with forward-thinking house and techno from the likes of Bwana, Perel, Mella Dee, Perc and Ryan Elliott. As the label continues to develop, Dusky remain working across multiple disciplines, firmly rooted in the dance music culture that has inspired them ever since their formative days raving as teenagers at venues across London.  After hosting Dusky at Let Them Eat Cake, smalltown and Pitch Music & Arts, Novel is eager to welcome their return as they kick off the Easter long weekend.  Tickets available now from: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/novel-presents-dusky-4hrs-tickets-91095169103
