This week, Nahko And Medicine For The People announces their uplifting and vulnerable new album, ‘Take Your Power Back,’ will be out May 15th on SideOneDummy records. Recorded in Los Angeles and Executive Produced by cut&dry and Dan Fratoni, ‘Take Your Power Back’ grapples with grief, trauma, reconciliation, self-love and acceptance, fusing conscious folk-rock with alternative R&B production to create a genre bending body of sound.

Nahko And Medicine For The People also release their new single, “Garden,” a propulsive track about growth, unity and the meaning of home. “It takes courage to tend the garden of your body, mind, and soul,” Nahko told Relix of the song.

Like the band’s previous singles, the release of “Garden” intentionally coincides with the lunar calendar and more specifically, the arrival of the new moon. The new moon is recognized in astrology as a time of resetting intentions and direction. For Nahko and his fans, it is a celebration of new music.

“I had half a year just to cultivate and create on a deeper level with this record,” Nahko explains. “I realized that I hadn’t allowed myself to explore some of the darker parts of my psyche before because I’d never had the language for it. Sometimes you have to go through the mud to find the flowers.”

Early singles “Lifeguard” and “Slow Down” have earned praise from Paste and American Songwriter, and “Slow Down” landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday Canada playlist the week it came out. “Lifeguard” uses the metaphor of drowning as an allegory for society’s need to make sweeping change, while “Slow Down” – a song that Nahko calls “a lullaby and ode to our plant teachers” – encourages listeners to do just that: live slowly, more intentionally, and with gratitude.

Born Joel Miguel Nahkohe-ese Parayno of Puerto Rican, Filipino, and Apache origins, Nahko was adopted at birth into a conservative Christian family. Instead of choosing to accept the orthodox lifestyle inherited from his adoptive parents, Nahko elected to challenge them. At the age of 17, he left his adopted family home in Portland, Oregon behind, headed first to Alaska and then to Hawaii, embarking on a voyage of self-discovery and marking the beginning of a deconstruction process, a reclaiming of identity, and the rebirth of Nahko and his unique heritage. Nahko released his debut album ‘On The Verge’ in 2011, but his breakthrough came two years later with ‘Dark As Night,’ which landed in the Top Ten on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Over the course of two more albums, Nahko solidified his reputation along the way as an outspoken activist and advocate for both social and environmental justice. Today, Nahko And Medicine For The People have built a fervent fan community (self-dubbed The Medicine Tribe) and lend support to charities close that resonate with the group’s core values, including Amazon Watch, Indigenous Regeneration, and Honor the Earth.

Nahko And Medicine For The People have sold out major venues including Red Rocks Amphitheater and performed at festivals like Glastonbury, Bonnaroo and more. They will head out on an extensive international tour this year, including a performance at Lollapalooza Chile in March and a return to Red Rocks in June.

Carnage’s “Blitzkrieg” ft. Nazaar & Murda Receives Hardstyle Remix by Belgian Headliner Coone

written by the partae

Artists: Carnage
Title: Blitzkrieg feat. Nazaar & Murda (Coone Remix)
Label: Heavyweight Records/EMPIRE
Release date: January 30, 2020

Download / Stream

Last summer, Carnage took the EDM world by storm with re-entering the scene with “Blitzkrieg” after a long hiatus, and now Coone is giving the track an epic revival. The Belgian DJ and producer lays on his signature hardstyle sound in his rendition, trading Carnage’s trap influences for proper rapid-fire kickdrums, reverberating bass, and plenty of screeching synths. The real gem of the track occurs around the halfway mark, where Coone’s musical sorcery leads into a drop for the ages. Listeners can still enjoy the original’s length vocal interlude filled with classic Carnage attitude amid the intense BPM. This is Coone’s first time collaborating with the Heavyweight label head, whose latest release was “Hella Neck” with Tyga, OHGEESY, and Takeoff.

Carnage has made a name through breaking the rules and staying true to himself. The Las Vegas-based artist established himself as the reigning champion of hard bass and trap music with early hits, later being one of the first artists to transition electronic music into hip-hop, rap and urban styles. Before launching his label Heavyweight Records in 2017, Carnage put out hit after hit such as “I Like Tuh” with ilovemakonnen, ‘Bricks‘ with Migos, ‘Down for Me‘ and ‘Guala‘ with G-Eazy, ‘Homie‘ with Meek Mill and Yung Thug, ‘Learn How to Watch‘ with Mac Miller and MadeInTYO and ‘iShyne‘ with Lil Pump. Heavyweight Records is a home for hard bass and hip-hop music. Since then, he has gathered a formidable crew of companions on the imprint, from the masked mastermind GRAVEDGR, Gommi, Sludge, Lil Texas, and more. After taking a break from music and touring in 2018 to focus on his mental health, Carnage dove right back into it with his hits “Letting People Go,” and “Wait For Me” with G-Eazy and Wiz Khalifa. In partnership with the RAICES foundation, the music video for “Letting People Go” raised awareness for immigrants at the US / Mexico border and retraced Carnage’s families voyage into America, as covered by TIME and dozens of other outlets. He also contributes his influence and time to this charitable causes close to his heart. Nonetheless, Carnage could not resist producing what he loves the most, bass music, and released “Blitzkrieg,” “Slot Machine,” and “Holy Moly” all within a month. The ‘Holy Moly‘ music video was declared a “Bloody Hysterical Short Film” by Billboard.

CHASTITY BELT & LOOSE TOOTH Release split digital single ‘The Process’ & ‘Lonely’

CHASTITY BELT & LOOSE TOOTH Release split digital single ‘The Process’ & ‘Lonely’

written by the partae

Chastity Belt and Loose Tooth have shared a “digital split single” today featuring new material from both acts: Chastity Belt’s A Side ‘The Process’ and Loose Tooth‘s B side ‘Lonely.’ Both tracks are available to download or stream worldwide from Hardly Art records and Milk! Records in Australia/New Zealand.  Fifty percent of Bandcamp sales for either track will benefit Australian wildfire relief efforts, specifically the Country Fire Authority and Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities.

Chastity Belt and Loose Tooth hit the road together for a run of North American shows starting Tuesday 4 February. Upon the bands return, Loose Tooth will launch their new single ‘Lonely’ at The Curtin in Melbourne on Friday 13 March.

Of ‘The Process,’ Chastity Belt songwriter Lydia Lund explains, “The lyrics came later and are a sort of reminder of the way self-criticism can compound. When I’m in that critical state of mind, I try to suspend judgement for that current state and I find it reassuring to remember that it’s temporary – a process.”

As for ‘Lonely.’ Loose Tooth says, “We wrote ‘Lonely’ at the end of 2019. It is about an experience we witnessed when we were teenagers. #MeToo brought up a lot of realizations for many people, and for us; thinking back to us as young and vulnerable women, finishing high school and feeling invincible; we didn’t realize that we could be taken advantage of by predatory and powerful men. ‘Lonely’ is about the power dynamics and manipulation of these relationships, and the lasting cycle of trauma that they can bring.”

BRAIDS Announce new album Shadow Offering Share single ‘Young Buck’

written by the partae

“We wrote this song to capture the nervous anticipation of desire, the delicate chase of seduction, the highs and lows of obsession, and the humour in between,” stated singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston. “To want to possess someone, make them desire you, fall for you, only to learn that to lust is not to love.”

Braids began teasing their new album last fall with the release of ‘Eclipse (Ashley),’ a song dedicated to Standell-Preston‘s best friend that sinks deep into a feeling of reverie for nature, the love found in friendship, and the vital essence of personal reflection. It was praised by Pitchfork, Stereogum, Paste, and The New York Times who stated “Raphaelle Standell-Preston sings with openhearted earnestness.”

A luscious and expansive release, Shadow Offering leads us through a sonic tapestry of narrative. With heartbreaking honesty and precision, listeners traverse a nuanced and complicated world: one full of beautiful contradiction. Although the album directs itself at the failures of people to love and be loved, it also seeks to restore justice and attain blissful union. Its arc crests through the dark towards the light and learns how to dance with the dizzying rhythms of the heart. The songs bubble, sustain, dissolve, expand, and retract.

The album recounts pain, heartbreak, anger, but also lifts the heart towards hope. “There’s more hopefulness in this record than anything else I’ve written,” said Standell-Preston. “I think the songs are more human, more tangible, more honest.”

Braids is comprised of Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Austin Tufts, and Taylor Smith. Formed in 2007 in Alberta, they have solidified a decade-long reputation for their musical ingenuity and established themselves as one of Canada’s most acclaimed art rock bands, garnering two Polaris Prize shortlists and winning the 2016 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. With Standell-Preston‘s vocals as the pillar of their sound, Braids weave organic and electronic elements together amidst a lyrical landscape that is intimate, explosive, and emotionally-immersive. Their albums have earned praise from Pitchfork, NPR, New York Times, T Magazine, NME, and The Guardian among many others. They have supported or toured with artists such as Toro Y Moi, The Antlers, Wye Oak, Purity Ring, and Friendly Fires along with festival appearances around the world including Glastonbury, Primavera, Osheaga, Hopscotch, and SXSW.

DMA’S ANNOUNCE THIRD STUDIO ALBUM THE GLOW – OUT FRI 24 APR + SHARE SECOND SINGLE & VIDEO ‘LIFE IS A GAME OF CHANGING’ + ANNOUNCE MASSIVE UK TOUR + PLAYING LANEWAY FESTIVAL

DMA’S ANNOUNCE THIRD STUDIO ALBUM THE GLOW – OUT FRI 24 APR + SHARE SECOND SINGLE & VIDEO ‘LIFE IS A GAME OF CHANGING’ + ANNOUNCE MASSIVE UK TOUR + PLAYING LANEWAY FESTIVAL

written by the partae
  • THE GLOW was recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy award winning producer Stuart Price (The Killers, New Order, Madonna)
  • First single ‘Silver’ is the band’s fastest streaming song to date + came in at #20 in triple j’s hottest 100
  • DMA’S recently supported Liam Gallagher on his UK Arena tour
  • The band’s March Brixton Academy show sold out in less than 24 hours + sold over 40k tickets on their last headline UK tour
  • Platinum records for ‘Delete’ and ‘Believe’ (Cher Cover). Gold records for ‘In The Air’, ‘Lay Down’, ‘Step Up The Morphine’
  • Currently touring Laneway festival

I OH YOU are thrilled to announce DMA’S third studio album THE GLOW will be released into the world on Friday 24 April, recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Price. Today, the Sydney trio share the second cut from the album – the dark yet euphoric track ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’.

Premiered overnight via triple j Good Nights and Radio 1 in the UK, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is an unexpected change of pace. Inspired by early 90s rave culture, the track is a nod to bands like Underworld, The Prodigy, Orbital and The Chemical Brothers, and furthers DMA’S incorporation of digital beats and sequencers in their songwriting process.

Sitting in striking contrast to the song’s repetitive structure, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is about humanity’s struggle to be adaptable – as creatures who are fundamentally resistant to change. Breaking away from the minimalist electronica movement, the track features unapologetically busy beatscapes, a driving 4/4 pace and an adrenaline-pumping chorus showcasing Tommy O’Dell’s signature euphoric vocals.

The accompanying video, directed by Bill Bleakley, was shot in Thailand and features locals from the area.

VIDEO: ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ by DMA’S
We filmed the clip like a documentary, with a tiny crew. For me, this clip feels like a snapshot in time for this group of friends. – Bill Bleakley

First single from the record ‘Silver’ is the band’s fastest streaming song to date, with over 4 million streams in just three months and peaking at #34 on Spotify UK’s Viral 50 Chart and #50 on Australia’s Viral 50. The track has seen BBC Radio 1 plays, was named Record of the Week at Radio X and was added to the Radio X & Absolute Radio Daytime Playlist, and Evening List at Virgin Radio UK. Locally, the track was the #1 most played on triple j over the summer and has seen strong support across the Triple M and the HIT networks.

‘Silver’ and ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ set the scene for what is promising to be a monumental album from DMA’S. Recorded at Westlake Studios in West Hollywood and Rak Studios London, THE GLOW is a contemporary pop record that sees the band fulfill their world class potential with a collection of songs that are destined for arenas. From their emotive heart to their towering, anthemic hooks, the core traits that have earned the band a growing global following are all in place. But with the help of Price, DMA’S have elevated both sides of their sonic spectrum to new heights and one thing is certain: this is the most fully realised of the band’s three albums to date.

DMA’S have had a whirlwind six years since exploding onto the scene in 2014 with their debut single ‘Delete’. They have released two critically acclaimed albums – Hills End (2016) and For Now (2018) – both of which charted Top 10 in the ARIA Charts and resulted in ARIA nominations for Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release. Forging their reputation abroad, the latter earned a #13 chart position in the UK as well as festival slots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds festivals.

2019 saw the Sydney natives play sold out shows across the UK and Ireland, support Liam Gallagher’s UK arena tour and sell 5 thousand tickets to their March 2020 Brixton Academy show in less than 24 hours. Back home they scored a Platinum record for ‘Delete’ plus Gold discs for ‘Lay Down’ and ‘Step Up The Morphine’. This year, the band will play Manchester’s Sounds of the City festival headlining the 8 thousand capacity Castlefield Bowl on 9 July (with tickets selling out in a couple of hours), before embarking on their UK album tour – which will see them play their biggest London headline show to date at Alexandra Palace in October, as well as a sold out Australian bushfire benefit gig to raise funds for Wildlife Victoria.

As we enter the new decade, DMA’S are cementing themselves as a powerhouse act no longer on the brink of blowing up, but basking in the international spotlight. The band will be treating home crowds to new music at Laneway Festival in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Fremantle over the coming weeks.

DESERT SESSIONS Release video for ‘Easier Said Than Done’ Announce ‘The Bizarre Bazaar’, a Bi-Weekly Series of Desert Sessions Inspired Artwork Auctions for Charity with Limited Edition Quilt by Ben Venom

written by the partae
Praise for Desert Sessions Vol. 11 & 12

“One of the project’s most impressive line up of players” —The New York Times

“The latest volume in the (and first in 16 years) sees Homme bringing together another impressive hodgepodge of artists”—Entertainment Weekly

“Breaking the 16-year drought between sittings, Desert Sessions Vol 11 & 12 once again captures a fission that can only occur when musical heroes collide.” – STACK

“There’s enough rock star swagger here to live vicariously through, and the sense that the Joshua Tree party will ride again for years to come. So crack open that fancy bottle and let your hair down.” – NME

Josh Homme’s collaborative motley crew Desert Sessions return with the music video to ‘Easier Said Than Done’, from Vols. 11 & 12 (aka respectively Arrivederci Despair and Tightwads & Nitwits & Critics & Heels). Directed by photographer-director Chapman Baehler, this nightmare vision contains fascist-humiliating watersports, pig-men ejaculating glitter, a little defenestration, some light immolation… and Joshua Homme on roller skates.

The unique delight of Desert Sessions lies in unexpected collaborations between musicians who might otherwise never work together, and alongside the new video, Desert Sessions have teamed up with artists in other media including palm-painting, sculpture, jewelry, film-making, and, in this instance, quilting, to create one-of-a-kind pieces of art inspired by, and indelibly connected to — the music, for a series of charity auctions benefiting The Sweet Stuff Foundation. For the inaugural auction in this ‘Bizarre Bazaar,’ hosted on a dedicated eBay page, acclaimed textile artist Ben Venom has created a 3′ X 3′ quilt expressing the sounds of Desert Sessions in fabric and thread:

“I describe my art as a collision between fine art, craft, and the fringes of society,” says Venom. “Working with textiles, I contrast the often menacing and aggressive counterculture components of gangs, punk/metal music, and the occult with the comforts of domesticity. For the Crawling Death quilt, the fragility of the materials and their assaulting imagery are brought together in the form of a functional piece of art. This piece was made in collaboration with the Desert Sessions and it has been an honor to participate in the project.”

The auctions will continue with new Desert Sessions artwork and video content dropping every 2 weeks.

For further edification, just watch the video over and over until the next one. (And keep hitting that “Place Bid” button. Remember, there’s no reserve!)

https://www.thesweetstufffoundation.org/

Ending a 16-year hiatus since its last installment, Desert Sessions returned in October 2019 with the most ambitious entries to date in its expansive and elusive catalog. Vols. 11 & 12 were recorded (mostly) in December 2018 at Rancho De La Luna studios in Joshua Tree, CA, with Queens of the Stone Age founder and Desert Sessions ringleader/producer Joshua Homme enlisting a cast of players including Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White), Les Claypool (Primus), Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Superwolf, Endless Boogie), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London), Libby Grace and of course Töôrnst Hülpft.

Her Songs release stunning new single ‘If We Try’ FFO Poppy Ajudha x Celeste

written by the partae

Her songs are a collective that owe their origins to a conversation started between the five women on social media. The group released their debut EP ‘Los Angeles’ in 2018, creating a mesmeric collection of songs that fused 90s indebted R&B with contemporary production. Now, the group have returned with their new single ‘If We Try’, the first from their new EP ‘Toronto Vol.1’.

‘If We Try’ is a clear step forward for the group, fusing their lush harmonies with a rolling groove that recalls the downtempo details of Erykah Badu, Bonobo, and Quantic. The song was written by members Emmavie and Marie Dahlstrom and inspired by their mutual love of soul and R&B.

On the track Danish-London residing member, Marie Dahlstrom says, ´If
We Try’ is about asking the person you love for a second chance. Sometimes people are quick to break relationships off when things get rough but this song is about finding strength in vulnerability. We live in a world of instant gratification and relationships can often feel replaceable. We wanted to change the narrative: you get so much more when you try.’

‘If We Try’ is the first snapshot of the groups forthcoming EP ‘Toronto Vol 1.’ an EP bursting with bold ideas and fresh sounds. It is the result of collaboration between widespread backgrounds, cultures, and musical identities with one ambitious goal: writing and producing 4 songs in 4 days. The EP moves from sun-kissed R&B to heartfelt ballads, showing the considerable range of the remarkable group.

Her Songs is comprised of Emmavie (UK), Emily C Browning (New Zealand), The Naked Eye (UK/France), Marie Dahlstrøm (Denmark) and Dani Murcia (US/Colombia). Stay tuned for more news.

 Her Songs are:

Dani Murcia (Vocals, Piano, Guitar, Production)

Dani Murcia is an R&B/Pop/Soul songwriter from Miami. Raised by Colombian parents in an eccentric, warm, and care-free city, and continuing her career in the more reserved, gloomy, and sped up city of NYC, has helped shaped Murcia’s distinctive soundscape. Murcia creates new worlds through lush harmonies and haunting melodies, influenced by artists like Nick Hakim, Kimbra, and Matt Corby. Her latest EP “Breaking Light” is a collection of stories about grieving her father’s suicide and searching for beauty in pain.

Emily C Browning (Vocals, Guitar)

Emily C. Browning is an indie/soul artist from Christchurch, New Zealand, Influenced by the rule-breaking melodic direction of Emily King, Lianne La Havas and Nai Palm. Her lyrical angle brushes off as conversational but will catch you off-guard with nuanced commentary, and a deeper perspective of the human experience.

The Naked Eye (Vocals, Guitar)

The Naked Eye is the artist name for French-English singer/songwriter/guitarist Francesca Hole, who is currently based in London. She describes her music as having a fusion of Jazz, Soul, Folk and RnB, and writes autobiographical songs about life experiences, relationships and overcoming hardships. Her latest EP ‘Love’s Grave’ was released in April this year and was inspired by a range of influences spanning from songwriters and poets Nai Palm, Lianne La Havas, Maya Angelou, Joni Mitchell, D’Angelo, Bruno Major and many more. The Naked Eye finds making music cathartic and empowering, and loves how you can start the day with nothing in a session and end with a song.

Marie Dahlstrøm (Vocals, Piano, Percussion, Production)

Danish, London based artist Marie Dahlstrøm is well known for her warm, ethereal jazz/soul/R&B amalgam. Following fruitful collaborations with the likes of Tom Misch and Alfa Mist, the past 12 months have seen Marie writing and producing the songs that would eventually form her debut album.

Emmavie (Vocals & Production)

Emmavie is a singer/songwriter and producer from London whose music is an amalgamation of 90s R&B and her love for digital audio experimentation. Like her music, her personal style and gender expression is fluid and free of boundaries. Emmavie has credits spawned across the world including collaborations with IAMNOBODI, Buddy, ROMderful, Jarreau Vandal, Alfa Mist, Nick Grant and Jay Prince, and has had her music featured on Oprah Winfrey’s network produced series, “Queen Sugar”. In August 2019, Emmavie was scouted by legendary DJ and Fresh Prince of Bel Air star, DJ Jazzy Jeff and flown out to his house in Delaware to spend a week making music with the likes of Mac Ayres Robert Glasper and Redman as part of the Playlist Retreat.

Cross The Tracks Festival continues to build excitement for the mouthwatering 2020 edition as new names such as the iconic Madlib, Sudan Archives, Greentea Peng, Sadar Bahar, London African Gospel Choir, Coops, Laura Misch, Neue Grafik Ensemble, SEED Ensemble, Charlie Bones, Dreamcast and many more are all added. Taking place on Sunday June 7th at Brixton’s beautiful Brockwell Park and offering a wealth of street food, craft beer immersive workshops, talks and much more, Cross The Tracks has already announced a peerless mix of funk, soul, disco, jazz, r&b, and house stars from across the ages including Sister Sledge, Tinariwen, Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay MBE, Nu Guinea, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Chris Dave & The Drumhedz and Theon Cross amongst tens more.

The carefully assembled Cross The Tracks is set to be an all encompassing day out for lovers of real music, great food and contemporary culture. It mixes up the original pioneers with artists from today’s vanguard in a beautiful setting that is ripe for exploring thanks to its rolling green lushness, ornamental ponds, formal flower beds and wealth of top class street food vendors, craft beer brewers and bespoke bars, luxury toilets for VIP access, chill out and wellness areas, art fair, panels, creative markets and plenty more to nourish your entire being.

The first of these new names couldn’t be bigger: Madlib is a giant of the hip-hop world who will play a special back-to-back set with Gilles Peterson. From recent collaborations with Freddie Gibb to cult albums like Madvillany with MF Doom, his jazz remixes on Shades of Blue Note or genre-defining albums as Quasimoto, Madlib has taken hip-hop to its highest heights. His ability to craft beats and lay down instrumentals is second to none and for that reason he is one of the most critically acclaimed in the game. He is a DJ first and foremost, so this show should especial indeed.

Joining him will be the likes of Stones Throw artist Sudan Archives, the hugely innovative violin player who mixes her playing with beautifully melancholic soul and hip-hop. There will also be a show from South London experimentalist Laura Misch, who is defining new soundworlds with her saxophone, synths and vocals.

There will be an in-the-know focus on the exciting emerging r&b and neo-soul scene, too, with acts driving things forward like Biig Piig, Sasha Keable, Charlotte Dos Santos and Collard all playing, plus hotly tipped London star Greentea Peng, who has a look as unique as her candid, immersive sound.

The booming contemporary jazz scene will also be well represented by Neue Grafik Ensemble and SEED Ensemble, who are bringing fresh perspectives as well as compelling grooves to their productions and live shows which are hybrids of house, jazz and hip-hop.  Steam Down also line up and are a London collective who have supported Kamasi Washington, picked up two Jazz FM awards, appeared on Jools Holland, headlined their own UK and EU tours and brought real spontaneity to the jazz scene.

There will also be hip-hop from High Focus star Coops, a widescreen array from NTS’s legendary Breakfast Show host Charlie Bones, lo-fi bliss from super smooth Washington, D.C. singer Dreamcast, and soul stirring sounds from London African Gospel Choir who will be performing Paul Simon’s Graceland, as well as a smorgasbord of disco brilliance from famously deep digging Chicago originator Sadar Bahar.

These latest additions are another bold statement that make Cross The Tracks the capital’s most essential day of music, culture and good times.

“Noble Oak paints an ambient defiance of structures and rules in his ethereal new song “Morning,” a wake-up call to break the mold.” – Atwood Magazine
“Noble Oak makes sweeping, expansive backdrops and floats his gauzy tenor over them beautifully.” – Stereogum
“…it’s easy to become lost in the shimmering synths.” – Indie Shuffle
“Patrick Fiore is a multi-instrumentalist with a penchant for rich, airy textures; a bit like well-made musical puff pastry.” – DIY Mag

January 24, 2020 (Vancouver, BC) – Vancouver’s electro dream-pop artist, Noble Oak today shares the video for his new single “Morning”.  In addition to the video release, Noble Oak also announces his label debut album, entitled Horizon, slated for release in spring 2020. “Morning” is out now on all music services via Last Gang Records.

“Morning is an acknowledgment of the entrapment we feel in our daily lives”, says Noble Oak of the single. The video, directed by Nancy Lee, is inspired by the 90s TV series ReBoot.  Using the same software originally intended for making video games, the video features three worlds designed entirely in virtual reality.  Noble Oak’s character was imported into each virtual world by recording the depths of his physical body using an infrared sensor.

Noble Oak’s forthcoming LP Horizon follows the release of Collapsing Together (2017), Past Life (2016) which prompted comparisons to the likes of The War on Drugs, Bob Moses, and Tame Impala and international praise from Stereogum, HYPEBEAST, Majestic Casual, DIY, Indie Shuffle, CLASH Magazine and more. It comes on the heels of the smash success of 2016’s single “Dream-Spark,” which has more than 5 million streams on Spotify.

Stay tuned for more updates from Noble Oak in the coming weeks.
