by the partae
Amazing musical talents Tia Gostelow, Shag Rock, Sametime, Toxic Fox and more are coming together for a charity benefit concert for not-for-profit organisation Youturn Youth Support at the Sunshine Coast’s hottest new venue Night Quarter Sunday, April 11. The all-day multi-artist event Youturn IT UP! is the first in a series of benefit concerts to raise money for Sunshine Coast homeless youth and to support the music industry all for a good cause and a great time. Youturn Youth Support started 30 years ago, and works across Southern Queensland, in core youth service areas: child safety, homelessness and mental health. Sam and Tim Aitken of Sametime, two brothers with roots in the Sunshine Coast community, recognised a need to help kids who are sleeping rough, as well as musicians affected by the current touring crisis. With this in mind, they came up with an initiative to support youth and local musicians through staging a series of concerts that aim to help raise funds for Youturn’s Big Hearts for Tiny Homes campaign. “We did our research and we loved that Youturn is a local, grassroots charity who are focused on supporting young people on the Sunshine Coast, and in SE Queensland,” the brothers said. “They have a passionate team, who are really dedicated to making a difference to the vulnerable people in their care, as artists and musicians, we hope to use our time and talent to help raise Youturn’s profile and the amazing work they are doing.” Having officially partnered with Youturn and become ambassadors for the charity, Tim and Sam look forward to launching the inaugural Youturn IT UP! festival series that will showcase some of Queensland's best musical acts. Once known as an aspiring teen songstress,Tia Gostelow has become one of Australia’s most celebrated musicians. Tia’s second album Chrysalis was released in September after a whirlwind release of triple j top hits 'Two Lovers' and 'PSYCHO'. A grooving and unforgettable tune that will surely have the crowd at Youturn IT UP! Singing along to every word. Joining Tia on the line-up are Brissie-based Shag Rock with their top streaming hit 'Sunbleached Girl' as well as their newest songs 'Flicker', 'Creaky Minds'. After an enormous sell-out show in Brisbane with Peach Fur, Selfish Sons and Citrus Daze, Youturn IT UP! Will be the perfect setting for the surf-rock four-piece to play their bleached-out hits. Brother duo, Sametime, will also join with powerful pop anthems, alongside upcoming local bands Toxic Fox, Euca and Sailing In Space and Brisbane Artist & Drag queen, Sellma Soul. The Youturn IT UP! concert will take place at Sunshine Coast's newly revamped NightQuater which has been open since November 2020. It was opened with the vision to revitalize the industry on the Sunshine Coast and build a space where the community can enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences. This April, Youturn IT UP! looks forward to giving back to the community, supporting local musicians and giving the kids of the Sunshine Coast something to look forward to.
