Australian electronic artist Ninajirachi has released a new remix of her award-winning single ‘iPod Touch’, reworked by French producer, singer and songwriter Madeon.
Released via NLV Records on 28 August 2026, ‘iPod Touch (Madeon Remix)’ follows Ninajirachi’s recent collaboration with Porter Robinson, ‘WannaCry’, which was released in July.
The remix marks Madeon’s first official remix in 14 years. His last official remix was released in 2012.
The collaboration has its roots in Ninajirachi’s long-standing admiration for Madeon’s music. According to Ninajirachi, she first encountered Madeon’s early work while watching a tie-dye denim shorts tutorial on YouTube when she was in Year 7, which led her to explore more of his music.
The pair met at Coachella earlier this year, where Madeon invited Ninajirachi to join him for his set. During the performance, he played an edit of ‘iPod Touch’, which Ninajirachi said came as a surprise.
Madeon’s remix retains the foundations of the original while introducing his own production and a new verse reflecting on his formative experiences discovering music. The release connects the two artists through their shared relationship with electronic music, technology and the influence of music discovered online.
“I haven’t done an official remix since 2012, and I wasn’t sure I ever would again,” Madeon said. He explained that ‘iPod Touch’ had become one of his favourite recent dance tracks and that hearing Ninajirachi discuss the influence of his early music on the song had a significant impact on him.
For Ninajirachi, the remix also carries a personal connection to the original song, with the artist explaining that she wanted any ‘iPod Touch’ remix to be made by someone whose music directly influenced the song.
The release arrives during a significant period for Ninajirachi. Her debut album, I Love My Computer, was released in August 2025 and has subsequently received recognition including three ARIA Awards, the Australian Music Prize, the NSW Music Prize for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, a J Award and multiple AIR Awards.
The album also reached No. 1 on the Australian Artist Album chart, No. 1 on the Australian Dance Album chart and No. 12 on the ARIA Album Chart. ‘iPod Touch’ itself received an AIR Award for Independent Song of the Year.
Ninajirachi has continued touring internationally throughout 2026, with Australian dates including triple j’s One Night Stand in Griffith on 5 September.
