NINES new album Crop Circle out now!

by the partae April 24, 2018
written by the partae
Nines has released his second LP, Crop Circle, out now via XL Recordings / Remote Control.

This album follows on from last year’s debut One Foot Out. Its depiction of life on the Church Road Estate presented with a ton of humour and a few sobering moments, showcases Nines‘ ability to balance gritty realism in a brilliantly playful and witty manner. Crop Circle contains the previously released ‘I See You Shining’ and sees star turns from Ray BLK, Skrapz, Tiggs Da Author and Dave, as well as appearances from up-and-coming stars of the UK rap underground.

Having been prevented from performing live for the majority of his career so far, Nines performed on stage for the first time at last year’s Glastonbury festival. 2018 sees him upping the live appearances, with him due to perform at Reading & Leeds Festival as well as others across Europe this year. Watch this space- Nines can only be held back for so long.

To introduce the release of his second LP for XL Recordings, Nines presents Crop Circle, a short film written, directed and co-produced by Nines. From the off, Nines proves that he’s as deft with film as he is with his lyrics. A long-time cinema buff, Nines presents a beautifully shot, moral tale of life on London’s estates.

Filmed on and around the Church Road Estate in North West London, where Nines grew up, the short film is a perfect transfer of Nines’ iconic brand of music directly on to celluloid– a gritty, realistic tale filled with humour and presented in his signature, laid-back fashion. Sound-tracked by selects from his LP, the film sees a myriad cameos, including an iconic scene with J Hus hollering from his Audi R8 at Nines riding a Boris bike, and also includes the rest of the cream of the UK rap scene; MIST, Mostack, Skrapz, Ghetts, Kurupt FM’s Grindah and Beats, and many more.

Body Type sign to Inertia Music and Partisan Records; share new single and video for ‘Arrow’

by the partae April 24, 2018
written by the partae

Body Type are extremely proud to announce their signing to Inertia Music and Partisan Records.

Partisan founder Tim Putnam and managing director Zena White say of the signing, “We’re so excited to be working with Body Type and we can’t wait to bring their music to fans worldwide. We’re equally thrilled to be partnering with our Australian cousins Inertia Label Group for the first time globally.”

Gab Ryan and Meg Williams, co-directors of Inertia Label Group add, “From Body Type’s first ever gig we’ve seen the band go from strength to strength and are extremely thrilled to be working with them, this is a band that dreams are made of. We are just as excited to be working in tandem world wide with our partners Partisan Records, who are in our humble opinion, one of the great indie record labels of our time.”

Lead vocalist and guitarist Sophie McComish shares, ”The people Body Type work with are like our family, and we are so happy for Inertia and Partisan to become a part of that. Gab (Inertia Music co-director) came to our last rehearsal before our very first gig for moral support, and Meg (Inertia Music co-director) still has a setlist from our second ever show so they have been with us from the start really. Partisan is an incredibly progressive label that has built some world-class artists from the ground up and Inertia looks after a stack of our favourite bands ever, so we are very excited to all join forces.”

To celebrate, Body Type today also share their new single and accompanying video for ‘Arrow‘ which premiered on Noisey overnight and announce a special one-off show at Waywards in Sydney tonight. Returning with their take on scuzz rock, ‘Arrow’ (recorded and mixed by Antonia Gauci and mastered by Jess Cooper) immerses the listener with dreamy distorted guitars, infectious basslines and angsty vocal lines to deliver their self-described “pop-rock tantrum.”

Vocalist and bassist, Georgia Wilkinson-Derums says of the track, “Arrow is about the prick of love. It’s about being stung and the pleasure and pain that accompany being struck by cupids arrow. For me the song has always carried the power of female physicality in performance, it’s where I see Body Type get a little more aggressive, a little more dramatic. Wherever it begins and ends we hope it gets the heart pumping and blood running. Keep it loud. BODY TYPE.”

Filmed in Sydney and directed by Madeleine Purdy, the video begins with two ballerinas with bows and arrows in tension between them, paying homage to the performance work, Rest Energy (1980) by Marina Abramović & Ulay. Reminiscent of cinematic dreamscapes, the four girls playfully appear, fading in and out of a sunset-coloured clouds floating above a sea of confused onlookers. Taking the role of cupid, Georgia, Annabel, Cecil and Sophie aim arrows at their spectators and play authors to their own fate, in a clever subversion of power dynamics in representations of love and romance.

Fans of Body Type can also catch them on the road in support of Alex Cameron with Roy on Horn across their national headline tour this month. The tour will be stopping off in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth at The Foundry, Manning Bar, Croxton Bandroom and Amplifier. Tickets are on sale now, see all details below.

SKEGSS RELEASE NEW SINGLE UP IN THE CLOUDS & ANNOUNCE NATIONAL TOUR ON THE EVE OF GROOVIN’ THE MOO FESTIVAL DATES

by the partae April 24, 2018
written by the partae

Signalling the beginning of something big, today SKEGSS have unleashed their brand new track Up In The Clouds, ahead of their Groovin’ The Moo dates which kick off this Friday in Wayville, SA.

Up In The Clouds is the first proper taste of new material since SKEGSS’ April 2017 EP Holiday Food and is supported by a new video for the song which you can view here.

The band says:

“The song’s about being unsure but realising it’s OK to have uncertainty and it’s regular. Some things will always be left uncertain. As soon as we figured that out we made a song about it.”

Taking the song out nationally, Up In The Clouds will further the bands live reputation, of which they have made a name for themselves; with energetic live performances garnering praise from The Music for their “infectious” on-stage chemistry and Moshcam who asserted they “seem to have some sort of hypnotic effect over their fans.”

“It’s been about a year since we have gotten to do a major city tour with new music so we are looking forward to getting on the road for The Up In The Clouds Tour”,says Benny Reed.

SKEGSS are Ben Reed (vocals, guitar), Toby Cregan (bass, vocals) and Jonny Lani (drums), three prolific performers who have charmed listeners with their warm Garage-Punk sound, selling out shows all across the country. The band has just wrapped a sold out No Future regional tour which saw them sell-out across the country. During the summer of 2018, the band reissued their Holiday Food EP on ultra-limited blue vinyl, for a handful of indie stores only and featured a brand new, vinyl-only track. Just like their previous tour dates, this EP sold out immediately. Capping off summer 2018 was of course the inclusion of Got On My Skateboard at #39 on triple j’s Hottest 100.

With an album set to be released this year through Ratbag Records, a UK tour which includes appearances at The Great Escape and Dot to Dot festivals, a single tour in June and an upcoming Splendour in the Grass set – this is just the beginning of a very crazy year for SKEGSS.

Lovebirds Returns To Australia With A New Weapon And Dates

by the partae April 20, 2018
written by the partae
Tour Dates

Saturday 5th May: Claptone Masquerade Ball, Melbourne
Saturday 5th May: Bloom, Geelong
Saturday 12th May: Heyday, Wollongong
Saturday 12th May: The Burdekin, Sydney
Sunday 13th May: Mrs Sippy, Bali

Lovebirds is the solo project of Hamburg resident Sebastian Döring. Following various excellent singles on much-respected labels like Winding Road Records, Freerange, Buzzin Fly, OM records and Liebe*Detail, in 2012 Lovebirds found himself dominating charts with his crossover deep house soul anthem ‘Want You In My Soul‘ featuring Stee Downes. A few years sooner, Melbourne had Lovebirds fever. Döring’s track ‘In The Shadows‘ became a bona fide local anthem and it still continues to be one today, anyone who attended Victoria’s Grapevine Gathering can vouch for that – as seen in this viral video.

Fast forward to today and Lovebirds has released yet another bomb with his latest offering coming in the form of ‘Dove Sei’ on Sirsounds Records. The 4 track EP (which features his own vocals) holds anOriginal Deep Mix, Raiders of the Lost Arp remix, SIRS Cut and an Original Vinyl Only Version.

The first Lovebirds release appeared on Trax of Interest in 2000. Back then it was only a side project for releasing deeper stuff than what he was doing under his main project. In 2006, having built up a repertoire of unsigned material, he sent a CD to John Buckby, label owner of Winding Road Records and a mutual friend of Vincenzo.

The Lovebirds sound is like a blast from the past with house steroids packing serious production muscle. Listening to Lovebirds is like taking trip back to the 70s and 80s – but riding in a gleaming futuristic spaceship.

The first Lovebirds single on Winding Road was the “Modern Stalking” EP, which came out in 2007. The EP contained tracks of mid-tempo house, each coming from a different musical angle and giving the world a taste of what he was capable of. It was received by the deep house and neo-disco community with open arms. Top-flight DJ’s such as Prins Thomas, Ashley Beedle and Jimpster went wild for it. Bill Brewster made the EP the “Single Of The Month” in iDJ magazine.

Since then he was responsible for a huge number of club hits including deep house masterpieces like “M.U.S.I.C.” (on Vincenzos and his very own imprint TEARDROP), the modern deep house classic “In The Shadows” (on Winding Road) or dancefloor bomb “The Rat” (on Freerange) peaking in the modern deep house masterpiece “Want You In My Soul”. More than 4.000.000 views on You Tube, best selling single on traxsource.com in 2011. …this track was and actually still is everywhere.

A few years on, Sebastian had achieved all he wanted to with Kneedeep, and was ready to move into more deeper, melancholy musical avenues. And so Lovebirds was born, which is now his main project. His production experience means that he is able to finish well-rounded tracks off in a matter of days, constantly building a repertoire of classy dance floor and mellow sounds all destined to wow the world.

The process is well on its way already. Having releases on labels like Freerange, Defected and Lazy Days and most of all his own Teardrop Recordings, working with artists like Ben Westbeech, Lisa Shaw and most recently 90s UK acid jazz icon Galliano and playing worldwide gigs every weekend – Lovebirds combination of grown-up house music with a touch of funk, soul and disco is welcome change in these times of sterile formula artists.

Currently he is working on a follow up EP with his partner Stee Downes and a whole underground pop/electronica/indie album under the name of Minako & The Lovebirds. Both due to be released in 2016. These two collaborations will also be available as a combined Lovebirds Collective live show from Summer 2016 on!

Anthony Parasole Aus Tour

by the partae April 20, 2018
written by the partae
Tour Dates

Friday 4th May: Sugar, Adelaide
Saturday 5th May: Civic Underground, Sydney
Friday 11th May: Brown Alley, Melbourne
Saturday 12th May: The Grand Poobah, Tasmania

Known for his impeccable productions and an ability to effortlessly switch between the deeper sounds of house and techno during his sets, Anthony Parasole is slowly becoming one of the most respected artists in the scene today. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Anthony has managed to find himself signed to many of the leading record labels on earth. Most recently his ‘Velocity’ EP was released on Redimension, his debut album ‘Infrared Visions’ was signed to none other than Dekmantel UFO and his records have also found homes onOsgut Ton, his own imprint The Corner, and more.

For the past two months Anthony has been touring the globe, playing shows at Berghain, Dekmantel festival São Paulo, Fabric in London, and now for his second appearance, he returns to Australia.

Anthony Parasole should need no introduction to newer or longer-standing dancers of the New York Deep House and Techno scenes. A longtime employee of halcyon, friend of Levon Vincent and his partner in Deconstruct Music, and a prominent figure with the underground House and Techno resurgence of NYC, Anthony’s acute selections won our ears right away, and he hasn’t let go since. Known for the deepest sounds of Techno and House and for gracing dance floors home and abroad from Shelter to Berghain. Anthony had a breakout year in 2012 with his track “TYSON” featured on the highly acclaimed Fabric 63 mixed by Levon Vincent, and that year he also launched his new label, The Corner. The first release “Tri-State” by DJ Qu & Nor’easter sold out worldwide. “Atlantic Ave” by Anthony Parasole & Phil Moffa followed, receiving critically acclaimed reviews from multiple online magazines in 2012. Then 2013 marked the fast rise of The Corner in techno dominance as the releases came out with much anticipation and highly recommended reviews. This resulted with The Corner landing on many year-end lists including Resident Advisor’s Top Labels of the Year, ranked at #8.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Anthony Parasole has had a lifelong love affair with electronic music. Listening to radio shows playing the early dance tracks from New York, Chicago, Detroit, and beyond, really perked up his ears. His earliest experiences at the New York clubs and Storm Raves blew his mind wide open. Not content to just be another club kid, Anthony began scouring record stores for all of his favorite tracks from the early 90′s to the present day. Parasole is also huge into hip-hop. His engulfment in this gritty New York street music and culture is an influence on his style to this day, not only in his music but in the entire artistic aesthetic of his labels.

From 2003-2007, Anthony was a House and Techno buyer at the Halcyon record store. Through Halcyon, a real pillar of the scene in NYC, Parasole made many contacts, and naturally started an event series called “New Jack City” at the great APT with his co-workers at Halcyon, bringing in many cutting-edge talents from the Tri-state area. This party really increased Anthony’s exposure in New York, and led to many gigs at bigger clubs including Pacha NYC & Shelter amongst many other venues. He then launched “Deconstruct Music” record label with his partner Levon Vincent. DEC-01 “Invisible Bitchslap” by Levon Vincent sold out in 1 week, and immediately put the label on the map and had Hardwax and other influential stores clamoring for more! Parasole also founded the once famed House-N-Home loft-party series with partner Bryan Kasenic of The Bunker. House-N-Home left a everlasting mark and a blueprint in the NYC warehouse/loft scene.

Now Anthony has had productions out on his own labels, The Corner & Deconstruct, as well as for Marcel Dettmann’s mighty techno imprint MDR. Parasole’s EP “Off The Grid” sold out in a few weeks. Following this, Anthony joined Ostgut Ton bookings in December 2013, and their label tapped him to do a remix Marcel Dettmann’s “Seduction”. They then released “My Block” which is Parasole’s first EP for Ostgut Ton. Parasole then made the progression to resident at Berghain and thru this platform he began shaping his sound and technique, pushing his deep, raw, driving, rhythmic, percussive, and mesmerizing sound that club-goers have come to know and love. Then soon after Anthony became resident at Output in his home town Brooklyn, NY and he continues to consistently challenge dancefloors worldwide.

THE FINKS announce new album ‘Rolly Nice’ + share new single ‘Body Language’

by the partae April 20, 2018
written by the partae
Milk! Records and Remote Control Records are excited to announce Rolly Nice, the new album fromThe Finks will be released Friday 25 May. To celebrate the announcement, The Finks have shared their first cut from the record ‘Body Language.’ Watch the video below.

The Finks play the songs of Oliver Mestitz. They are sincere but flippant, intimate but aloof, thoughtful but careless.

As Oliver describes the single and video: ‘Body Language started as a melody that I misheard Sarah humming to herself. It stuck with me and I wrote the lyrics a few months later, sitting up the back of a bus. It’s about a woman, the narrator, being hit on at a dinner party. It’s a rebuff song, or at least what could have been a rebuff had the narrator come up with it sooner.

I cobbled together the film clip using footage that Sarah’s family (mostly her Mum) shot on 8mm film in the mid-nineties. My family also had an 8mm video camera when I was growing up and I remember making videos of my brother pretending to be Steve Irwin in the backyard. I like the wobbly pans and zooms, the sickly bright colours, the mottled edges. It’s not perfect but that’s not the point.’

Oliver records everything in his Melbourne home, mostly alone, layering instrument upon instrument and mixing each song straight to tape. Each recording by The Finks hums with the quiet reverie and melancholy of weekday afternoons, when the suburbs lie in wait and the house is at its emptiest.

The Finks have been with Milk! Records since their first EP Things Work Out was released in 2012. Since then, they’ve released two more EPs (At the Royal Witherspoon and Settling) and two albums (Lucklaster and Middling).

Their new record Rolly Nice is a handful of objects, an album of contrasts. It includes sketches for solo piano, a guitar-led instrumental in ‘La Chose’ and a monologue set to music in ‘Charlie’s Manifesto’. Lyrically, ‘Thankful’ and ‘Peter Out’ have the brevity of poems, while ‘Body Language’ and ‘When What Changed Us Changed Us’ take on the complexity and intimacy of other lives lived.

No Finks release would be complete without Sarah Farquharson, who sings, plays cello and reads onRolly Nice. The album also includes vocals and guitar by Jake Core (Soda Eaves). It was mixed by Oliver at home and mastered in Rye with Mikey Young.

Rolly Nice is a patient, wilful and poignantly imperfect album. Each physical copy comes with a booklet featuring lyrics, collages and micro-poems by Oliver. Pre-order Rolly Nice: https://thefinks.lnk.to/RollyNice

Tess Roby shares new single

Montreal musician Tess Roby is sharing a new single, “Given Signs,” from her upcoming album ‘Beacon‘, which is out May 4th (UK) via Italians Do It Better.

Album opener “Given Signs” is laced with crystalline electronic sounds and echoes the sentiment of the record beautifully – ‘Beacon‘ was written shortly after Tess’ father passed away and is both a homage to him and also to their time spent in Lancashire as a family.

Listen to “Given Signs” here: http://open.spotify.com/track/5QR7lkhpg5k3e6f50M8bA5

The Beacon crowns Ashurst Hill in Dalton, Lancashire, looming over the verdant English countryside nearly six hundred feet above sea level. This spartan brick monolith was erected in 1798 as a watch tower to warn of French invasion during the Napoleonic War — and there it silently remains, keeping infinite vigil. It stands in Tess Roby’s mind. The Beacon calls to her. “Throughout my life I have felt the pull to return to it,” she says. “I’m beckoned by father’s roots and by the sullen landscape of fields leading to the coast.”

Tess Roby is an artist with a vision. The Montreal-based photographer and musician, an eight-year veteran of the Canadian Children’s Opera Company, seems utterly original, moving with a restless energy toward the sublime. Her sound betrays an intrepid longing to discover and explore, to reject convention and transcend cliché: Roby is a born traveller, absorbing everything she hears and making it new. Ethereal and crystalline, bathed sumptuously in synths, her music is heady, dreamy, singular — a transmission from parts unknown. The classical training and aesthetic omnivorousness combine like worlds colliding.

Roby’s debut album Beacon was written in 2015, following the death of her father. She collaborated with her brother Eliot to create what they describe as a kind of spiritual homage — both to her father and to the Beacon, where the family travelled often. Roby recorded these songs with the drum machines and synthesizers she found in her father’s recording studio, and galvanized by his spirit she imbued the music with love, movement, whispers, memories, and pain. “All the while the Beacon remained effervescent in my mind,” Roby remembers. “Visions of it ablaze on the hilltop, standing motionless while I searched for understanding.”

A MESMERISING LIVE CONCERT INSTALLATION OF IMMERSIVE FILM, LIGHT, COLOR AND SOUND — FEATURING HISTORIC LINE-UP OF MUSICIANS, ARTISTS AND FILMMAKERS
A hypnotic live reimagining of Brion Gysin’s legendary hallucinatory invention the Dream Machine; Created by otherworldly chanteuse and musical director Sophia Brous and multi-instrumentalist/composer Dave Harrington, with Brooklyn designers Wild Dogs International
Featuring a cast of revered international artists & musicians including historic Moroccan Sufi trance ensemble Master Musicians of Jajouka from Morocco, Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, London cellist Oliver Coates, drummer Greg Fox, harpist Zeena Parkins, bassist Trevor Dunn, and many more special guests
“The world’s first work of art you look at with your eyes closed” – Brion Gysin
NEW YORK, NY (April 19th, 2018)–On May 11th, Red Bull Music Festival New York and Pioneer Works present Dream Machine–an extended immersive concert experience of state of the art concert design, ceiling-projected film, and live musical alchemy–resulting in a dazzling collision of mesmeric light, color and sound. Originally a stroboscopic flicker sculpture created by Brion Gysin and William Burroughs in the late 60s (see more here), the historic Dream Machine has been reimagined by Australian/New York interdisciplinary performer, chanteuse and musical director Sophia Brous, Darkside’s Dave Harrington and light, sound and projection designers Wild Dogs International. With the audience lying on the floor with eyes open and closed beneath a canopy of brilliant immersive film and color,Dream Machine weaves together an intensely mesmeric hallucinatory journey within a live musical ‘dream soundtrack’ taking concertgoers through the chapters of a night’s sleep in an extended hallucinatory experience. Tickets for both the 7:30pm and 10:30pm shows are on sale via nyc.redbullmusicfestival.com.
A global creative collaboration, the reimagining of Dream Machine was conceptualized and musically directed by David Harrington (USA) and Sophia Brous (AUS). Harrington is a renowned NYC-based bass player with jazz roots and most widely known as half of Darkside with Nicolas Jaar, and Brous is a cross-disciplinary musician, vocalist and performance-maker based in New York and Melbourne, Australia who is current artist-in-resident of National Sawdust and director of the Supersense Festival, and collaborates with the likes of Kimbra, David Byrne, Marc Ribot, Colin Stetson and Caroline Polachek, . The installation was designed by Brooklyn-based Wild Dogs International, who first worked on Red Bull Music Academy’s inaugural NYC event series in 2013, and served as the visual designer of numerous Red Bull Music Festival performances including Hardcore Activity in Progress (2014), Bounce Ballroom (2014) and Electronic Africa (2015), as well as the Kairos exhibition which launched the Red Bull Arts NYC space (2013). Performers include the legendary Moroccan Sufi trance ensembleThe Master Musicians of Jajouka led by Bachir Attar, industrial pioneer Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, British cellist and electronic producer Oliver Coates, harpistZeena Parkins, drummer Greg Fox, bassist Trevor Dunn.
The Dream Machine’s above-head immersive cinema experience features the work of notable filmmakers Ben Russell (USA), an artist and filmmaker whose work lies at the intersection of ethnography and psychedelia; Japanese expanded cinema artist Makino Takeshi (JPN), whose work has recently been shown at Tate Modern, BFI London, and the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Documenta 14; and recent Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Peter Burr (USA)–a master of computer animation that hovers on the boundary between abstraction and figuration, presented internationally by various institutions including Documenta 14, Athens; MoMA PS1, New York; and The Barbican Centre and Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The Dream Machine is soundtracked by Harrington and Brous’ ‘Dream Score’ framework, a mesmeric chapter-by-chapter performance composition cuing an ensemble of extraordinary musicians to weave a dream soundtrack through different scenes of audio-visual immersion. Players performing the Dream Machine soundtrack along with the Dave Harrington Group and the vocal stylings of Sophia Brous include boundary pushing icon Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (UK) ofThrobbing Gristle and Psychic TV — a cult musician, poet, performance artist and occultist who held a close relationship with both Gysin and Burroughs (read morehere) who greatly influenced h/er work. Similarly, the legendary, ancient Sufi Trance ensemble the Master Musicians of Jajouka: Bachir Attar and Mustapha Attar (Morocco) have a long history with Gysin, Burroughs and the early days of Dream Machine through their historic collaborations with the Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones, Ornette Coleman and Bill Laswell. The multi-instrumentalist/composer/improviser and Bjork-collaborator, Zeena Parkins (USA) is a pioneer of contemporary harp practice and performance, who reimagines the instrument as a “sound machine of limitless capacity.” Electronic producer Oliver Coates (UK) known as Radiohead’s “secret weapon” and for his work with Mica Levi and Jonny Greenwood, who he most recently worked with on the Oscar-nominated score forPhantom Thread. Rounding out the rhythm section are legendary bassist Trevor Dunn (USA), who has worked with Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantômas), the Melvins and John Zorn, as well as black metal (Liturgy), electronic and jazz drummer Greg Fox (USA), violinist and composer C Spencer and saxophonistsArrington De Dionyso and Stuart Bogie (Arcade Fire, Antibalas).
“Subjects report dazzling lights of unearthly brilliance and color… Elaborate geometric constructions of incredible intricacy… like brightly colored dreams.”
– William S. Burroughs

London art-punk quartet CHILDCARE push beyond the echo chamber on new single ‘Big Man’

by the partae April 20, 2018
written by the partae

London art-punk quartet CHILDCARE offer second taste of upcoming ‘Luckyucker’ EP with new singleBig Man + announce UK tour in October

“Big Man” sees CHILDCARE load up on snarling cynicism, articulating their thoughts through menacing interweaving melodies whilst ultimately encouraging more active and inclusive conversation when it comes to the current political climate.” The Line of Best Fit

Pushing beyond the echo-chamber, CHILDCARE follow the slinky art-rock of Put Down Your Penwith the bold and brooding Big Man, an alternative take on dealing with bubble-breaking disagreement and family friction.

The second single from their upcoming ‘Luckyucker’ EP, Big Man seeks to address the difficulties of contrasting world views, immigration and accusations of liberal elitism, all in a tidy 3 minutes and 53 seconds. Frontman Ed Cares explains:

“There’s a place for fighting and affirming the values you stand up for, but too often we ridicule and dismiss those we disagree with. I’m bored of broad-brush Tory bashing and of hearing that everyone who voted for Brexit is stupid. This song is a reminder that we need to listen and try and understand those who believe differently from us.”

The band will head out on a two week UK headline tour in October to support the release of the ‘Luckyucker’ EP.

The group’s now oft recanted formation story remains a point of interest. It all started when EdCares, one of West London’s most in-demand male nannies, was overheard humming a song he had written, by Katie, aged six, who persuaded him to form a band. Josh, eight, boldly proclaimed:“You’re probably my second favourite artist after Katy Perry.”

Their debut EP, ‘Made Simple’, released last year, earned them all sorts of tastemaker acclaim and national radio play with prestigious UK titles DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland and The 405 all tipping the group as one’s to watch.

With a sling of festivals including the legendary Reading and Leeds and a recent Radio 1 Maida Vale session tucked safely under their belts, the band’s vivid and visceral live show shouldn’t be missed.

By adding yet another stellar single to their oeuvre in Big Man, CHILDCARE look set to cement themselves as one of London’s most exciting emerging acts.

The quartet is completed by Emma Topolski (Bass, Vocals), Rich Le Gate (Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Glyn Daniels (Drums, Backing Vocals).

Luckyucker Tour Dates

9th October – Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham
11th October – Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds
