If something characterizes the Spanish electronic artist Landikhan, it is his open mind and his extraordinary respect for music, no matter the style, nature or origin. Two skills that the producer has always put into his productions, as seen on his releases on Natura Sonoris and Balance Music. Now, it’s time to see Landikhan express all of this in his first album.
An LP that, as its title “Earth Chronicles” indicates, is an ode to a wide collage of sound influences from different origins and cultures. Its creation took place in Fashion Beat team, many tracks were created by Vlackmotor, a member of LNDKHN’s colectiv’, and its design process has been in the hands of the digital artist Aitana Basquiat. The release is scheduled for the 24th of January on his own label: LNDKHN, a label that has been very successful in the last few years with thousands of downloads on all platforms and receiving support from huge names in the scene.
“Earth Chronicles” has eight original tracks and two remixes. “Por Tu Amor” is the opening track with a broken rhythms base and some suggestive Spanish voice in opera mode. It continues with the homonymous “Earth Chronicles” with a hypnotic nature and a selvatic imaginary. The album continues with “Babilonia”, a track that along its development takes us to Andean lands. “Nibiru” is the next track and in it the birdsongs and other sounds of nature live with evocative and rhythmic melodies full of cadence. “Interludio” is the most “old school” track on the album, its broken rhythms takes us to the ‘90s while its dark atmospheres invites us to introspection. “Quimera Cósmica” brings back more airy sounds without losing its reflexive and evocative side. The next to last track is “Eridu”, with a slow tempo and an environmental inspiration, taking your mind to a state of trance. And the LP ends with “Annunaki”; the most experimental track of the ensemble in which the classic percussions mix together with ethnic rhythms and ancestral voices. A superposition of complex layers that closes this package of tracks in an evocative and solid way.
On top of these eight original tracks are two remixes, as we said before, “Nibiru” by Progressive master Hernan Cattaneo with Martin Garcia. The result is a musical piece in which drums of ethnic inspiration mix with evocative atmospheres creating a climate of intense emotion. And “Por Tu Amor…O No”, by the renowned German artist Tolouse Low Trax. Both remixes and the originals are already available as the first album’s advances.

EPIZODE, one of the world’s most fascinating music and art festivals, delivered the 4th edition this year – for 11 days the island of Phu Quoc, Sunset Sanato Beach, turned into a magnetic field for electronic music lovers and industry fellows. More than 12000 people from 96 countries gathered for that very special annual meeting, exploring sound and art and more than 130 artists were building up a vibe of international unity.
Previously announced ecological initiatives turned out into a strong statement on site. The festival made a big step forward to a consciousness concept thanks to the partnership with BeWater. The biggest plastic waste of any festival (water in plastic bottles) was discarded – we switched to water bottled in aluminum cans. Cup-sharing systems in all the bars meant cups from recyclable material were used, and all the disposable tableware was made from recycled sugarcane. The merchandise shop offered bamboo cups and straws, and affordable pocket ashtrays to be carried out with you and help to strengthen the idea of a community coming together to celebrate the environment while listening to good music! Two art-installations were inspired by the ecological motive too. ‘Leave no trace’ policy made a significant change in people’s mindset – you could simply see and feel it on the clean beach and shared festival environment without random trash. An organized cleaning session in partnership with local communities also helped to maintain the island’s economy not only by means of touristic traffic but by thoughtful decisions.
The territory of the festival expanded this year and in addition to a new concept market and upgraded foodcourt, we focused on the Temple area, on giving the audience more space to chill, to slow down, to meditate and heal themselves. It went far beyond the scope of the general festival offerings.
Technical and creative partnerships were an important part that took the experience of sound and light to a new level this year. A stellar collaboration between Sila Sveta and SETUP, Moscow-based creative studios famous for outstanding project on the edge of mixed-media production, meant an all new re-invention of the Main stage. Simple linear structures empowered by bold light and video content created a massive installation. Dynamic and vivid, visuals merged with the music as if the most lucid dreams became real. It was a vital development as music on the stage goes on for eleven days and always offered an extra-dimension to dive into.
Not only did the Main stage have a full-on schedule but all of the four arenas – another remarkable improvement of the program this year is a commitment to a non-stop party-time, special sunset performances and after-party hours delivered at their best. Independent showcases from the USA, Switzerland, Romania, Australia, Russia, Israel, France helped define Epizode’s identity, which is a unique and ambitious one, and is continuing to drive international unity spirit with cultural and musical diversity.
There are many reasons behind the scenes that made people feel so special. There was an air of twinkle-in-the-eye nature, building-up during the first days and born out in style on New Years Eve night. It is that kind of night most people actually wait for the whole year and it is a big responsibility to provide people with the right set for this very peculiar dance – but the reward is priceless.

Bep Kororoti & Akin debut on Modern Obscure Music with four Afro influenced tracks. Bep Kororoti released a self-titled mini album on Hivern Discs’ more experimental HVNX sub-label in 2016, but he is better known for making music as Kresy. Here, Kororoti is joined by Akin, who provides vocals and saxophone on this EP. Epomuyeñ is dancefloor cut with striking percussion and strong vocals, whilst Eruobodo is a sax dominated track. Ijotiya channels the spirit of Fela and Afrobeat over a spinning bassline, whilst Love is the only way has a deep spiritual vibe and a powerful vocal. The EP will be out late February, preorder is available from our Bandcamp page.
Australian electronic and ambient producer Willaris. K (Jack McAllister) today releases a collection of remixes from his debut project on Virgin EMI, ‘5 O’CLOCK’ featuring reworks from rising electronica artists TSHA, Ghost Culture and Juno Mamba. On the back of his biggest year to date performing shows and festivals around the world, the 25-year-old producer from Tweed Heads in NSW kicks off 2020 with a varied package fit for the underground.
In light of the recent bushfires in Australia, the remix package coincides with Willaris announcing a benefit show in Melbourne. The producer was raised in Tweed Heads, a small town on Australia’s east coast, also home to comedian Celeste Barber who has now raised over A$40 million in funding for the recovery efforts. Fires have destroyed a number of surrounding communities in the area.
“It’s devastating to see the damage that’s been done and the lack of urgency on prevention and climate change.” – Willaris. K
The benefit show will be held at Seaworks in Melbourne on Sunday 9 February, with Willaris waiving performance fees and donating all merch proceeds to various charities. Tickets sold out in under 20 minutes with full information available here.
Diving into the remix package, Ghost Culture gives ‘5 O’CLOCK’ an upbeat edge, introducing the compilation with an edit that transforms the synth-heavy soundscapes into weightless atmospheric melodies. Juno Mamba follows with a track that plays to the likes of Willaris’ experimental flare, building varied instrumental progressions into an unexpected bridge of spoken word. TSHA brings the package to a close, keeping the brassy elements from the original, whilst weaving in warmer basslines and emotive tones. Along with Willaris, all three artists are bringing a fresh perspective to the electronica genre with compositions that have been compared to that of heavyweights like Bonobo, Daphni and Jon Hopkins.
Last month, ‘5 O’CLOCK’ was selected as the feature track for the UEFA Champions League recap commercial, airing across BT Sports TV channels internationally as well as online and mobile platforms. In tandem with the A-side release came the ambient B-side, ‘PAST LIGHT’, a testament to Willaris’ textural sound and early days collecting field recordings in Australia. To round out a momentous year supporting RÜFÜS DU SOL across their SOLACE World Tour, Willaris returned to his homeland for a string of major festival performances including City Loop, Output, Origin Fields and Castaway.
Willaris. K will play the Bushfire Appeal Day Party benefit show in Melbourne on 9 February at Seaworks. Tickets are sold-out.
Willaris. K’s ‘5 O’Clock’ Remixes are out now via Virgin EMI
French electronic music duo The Blaze unite with French-born, London raised rapper Octavian for « Somewhere », a one-off collaborative single. Both worlds collide in a typically moving and uplifting piece, bass synths gliding, toms popping and vocals driving towards an elusive « Somewhere ».
GRAZZE starts 2020 on the right foot making his debut on the label Zerothree. And he does it after ending an excellent 2019, a year during which the Spanish producer released on labels such as Anjunadeep, Glasgow Underground, ZEHN Records, Einmusika and BeatFreak.
GRAZZE’s new release is an EP formed by two original tracks. On one hand, we have “In Our Hearts”, a melodic, delicate and subtle track in which the skilful producer builds an excellent bass line, furnished with a key vocal hook. And on the other hand, we have “Hesze”, a track in collaboration with George Bloom that results in a balanced combination of both of their musical tastes. Strong rhythms that give room to a darker and clubbier sound than its predecessor. This is the first, but not last, collaboration between GRAZZE and the British producer, as soon a new project from the pair will be announced.
“In Our Hearts/ Hesze” will be available on Zerothree from the 10th of January. And one month later, on the 7th of February, “Anjuna 11” will be released which GRAZZE’s track “Blessivini” is part of.
Following his highly anticipated “House Party” EP from last year, Valentino Khan is back with a star-studded remix version of the release. The first interpretation of Valentino’s original work comes from the future house pioneer Tchami himself, who brings his signature sound to Khan and Diplo’s “JustYourSoul.” Trading heavy bass for groovy melodies and bouncy breakdowns, Tchami delivers a remix that will set the late night club dance floors on fire. The full remix EP, set for a release on January 24, includes additional guest appearances, that will be revealed in the following weeks, running the gamut from funky house to electro and bass. Stay tuned for the rest of the releases and names dropping soon!
The world was introduced to LA-based DJ and producer Valentino Khan in 2014, when he burst onto the scene with his debut EP “In Khan We Trust” on Skrillex’s OWSLA label. Khan’s sound possessed a unique versatility, incorporating elements of trap, bass, hardstyle, house and more into a driving, often heavy sound that found homes on labels such as Mad Decent, Spinnin Records, and Ultra. In 2015, Khan’s original track “Deep Down Low” became an international sensation, earning the title of “Most Played Track” of the year and topping Sirius XM’s #1 Song of 2015 on Electric Area. Since then, he has earned a reputation as a remix master with official renditions of RL Grime’s “Pressure,” Alison Wonderland’s “Good Enough,” Calvin Harris’s “One Kiss” and more. His original productions include “Pump,” which has over 17M streams on Spotify, “Gold” with Sean Paul, as well as production credits for the likes of 2 Chainz, B.O.B., Dizzee Rascal, Iggy Azalea, T.I. and more. On the touring front, Khan sold out his show at the iconic Hollywood Palladium this year, featuring a b2b set with Shaquille O’Neal (DJ Diesel) and a surprise appearance by legend Snoop Dogg. 2020 is already shaping up to be the year of Valentino Khan, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Starting the new year with a dose of melodic dubstep, Dutch producer Franky Nuts gives a remix to Flux Pavilion’s hit track “Somebody Else” ft. GLNNA on the label head’s Circus Records. Franky, who has crafted a unique but powerful style by fusing heavy and ariose sounds, delivers his signature style through a cinematic opening that showcases the original track’s ethereal vocals, building to a crescendo filled with serrating synths, stabbing percussions and sonorous harmonies. The remix keeps the integrity of the original version while adding a unique flair, making it a tune both Flux and Franky Nuts diehard fans can embrace on the dancefloor and beyond. The remix of “Somebody Else” is Franky Nuts’s first release of the year, following a successful 2019 that included releases on Circus and Jauz’s Bite This! imprint.
Franky Nuts is a name that the international bass scene only recently became familiar with, but one that seems like it’s here to stay. Hailing from the Netherlands, the DJ and producer exploded onto the circuit in 2019 with a unique musical style that merges powerful vocals and harmonies into a deadly combination. His sound resonated with both fans and tastemakers alike, as Franky Nuts signed to Flux Pavillion’s Circus Records and quickly reached several million plays on Spotify in the span of the summer months. Renowned artists including The Chainsmokers, NGHTMRE, Zeds Dead, Skrillex, Excision, and more have supported him; Franky has made stage appearances with Jauz to perform his tracks with him at Parookaville and Bootshaus in 2019. Ending 2019 with 11 releases in total on his home base Circus Records as well as guest appearances on Bite This! and remixes for the likes of Doctor P, Delta Heavy, Modestep, among others, Franky Nuts is carving out a niche for himself in the electronic music world. We can’t wait to see what this exciting emerging artist comes up with next!
