This authentic blues trio with the renowned Ian Collard (Collard Greens and Gravy), Benny Peters (Benny and the Fly By Niters) and Jason Liu Soon (stints with Chris Wilson and The Detonators) take audiences on a tour of those greasy, picturesque juke joints prominent within the rich history of American blues and roots music. Celebration of David Bowie Sunday 26th January, 11pm
Celebrate the magic of David Bowie at Cherry
It’s FREE ENTRY with Bowie shirt or face paint…
$10 Espresso Martinis ALL NIGHT too!
Hey. If you’re looking for a place to boogie on the long weekend we’re celebrating David Bowie on Sunday Jan’ 26th to make the most of the public holiday! A true chameleon of popular culture, leaving behind masterworks that will forever stand the test of time.
When struggling pop singer David Jones created the stage name David Bowie, it was the birth for what was to be an outlet for one of the most creative minds in rock ’n’ roll history. His ability to reinvent himself and create a tapestry of iconography within the constraints of popular music is unparalleled. Taking the experience of music beyond your hi-fi speakers, Bowie was a creative force that would pull you into his various guises and concepts.
Cherry DJ’s will be spinnin’ the best from Bowie across both levels, covering all periods (Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Thin White Duke, his return to pop in the ’80’s, late 90’s alt-rock leanings and self penned requiem that was Blackstar), so everyone can have a boogie! We’ll be slingin’ $10 Espresso Martinis and partying ’til 5AM!
It all starts from 11PM and it’s FREE ENTRY for those sporting their Bowie shirt or face paint or it’s an easy $10 entry. And hey, not every single song played for six hours will be a Bowie song, coz that be weird. We’ll be playing HEAPS of Bowie across the six hours xo
Oh and as per the usual when we celebrate this legend, if you can pull off his Goblin King costume it’s free entry also because quite simply, you deserve it
With 4 nights a week of live music entertainment, there’s a ton of amazing music talent you won’t want to miss each week at Cherry – 68 Little Collins Street.
