Canadian singer-songwriter and producer Trevor Kidd is kicking off a new chapter with “Clearer In The Mirror,” the first single from his forthcoming EP – out now. Featuring Cone McCaslin of Sum 41 and drummer Robin Diaz, the track grew out of an extraordinary stretch for Kidd that began with an unplanned ticket to Los Angeles in the summer of 2025. He arrived with a handful of songs written while trying to heal and somehow found himself surrounded by musicians he had admired for years, with chance encounters, new friendships and a little Sunset Marquis magic helping turn those songs into a record. “The universe lined everything up at once at a time I needed it most,” says Kidd. What followed was what he describes as a “rock n’ roll fever dream,” bringing together McCaslin, Garry Gary Beers of INXS, Jeff Martin of The Tea Party, Teddy “Zig Zag” Andreadis, Robin Diaz, Matt Starr and Brett Smith-Daniels, with Kidd self-producing and Ryan Andersen mixing the project.
For Kidd, though, “Clearer In The Mirror” and the record it introduces are about much more than an impressive collection of players. They document a period of genuine personal change. “There’s a lot of heart on here,” he says. “I walked into this record limping, completely lost in life, and I walked out having found myself more than ever. The experience of this record changed my life, shaped me, and I am so grateful for what it did to my soul.” That sense of patience, trust and letting something become what it needs to be runs throughout Kidd’s approach to the project. As he puts it, “Foundations for great things are built when patience isn’t at war with your ego.” With “Clearer In The Mirror,” Kidd is opening the door on what he calls one of the proudest collections of songs he has ever produced – a record born from healing, unexpected connection and a year that ultimately changed the course of his life.
