upsidedownhead releases new single ‘higher ft. Ric Rufio’

‘higher’ is not the first time Ric Rufio and upsidedownhead have joined forces. The friends also collaborated on upsidedownhead’s debut single ‘get low’ where Rufio effortlessly channels the experience of his time touring as a backing vocalist and musician for Adele, Nick Murphy and Daniel Johns with upsidedownhead’s modern electronics. The song, which was posted quietly online in 2018, spread like digital wildfire, forcing James to take upsidedownhead public.

‘higher ft. Ric Rufio’ follows a string of exciting collaborations from upsidedownhead. Over the course of his musical journey James has teamed up with Tom Snowdon, Vallis Alps, PLGRMS and more recently Fractures and Mansionair. His previous singles ‘make it real ft. Fractures’ and ‘twice as tough ft. Mansionair’ won support from Spotify, Apple and Amazon with adds in an impressive list of playlists globally. ‘twice as tough ft. Mansionair’ premiered on Clash Magazine and has accumulated over 2 million streams across DSPs to date.

upsidedownhead’s uniquely captivating soundscapes have also caught the attention of BBC Radio 1, triple j, FBi and tastemaker sites such as Complex, The Line Of Best Fit, CLASH, Purple Sneakers and Acid Stag. In addition to his production work, upsidedownhead has an impressive collection of remixes to his name, including ‘Too Proud’ for BROODS, ‘Plateau’ for Pat Carroll and ‘Remember’ for King Henry. James has also been touring with Vera Blue as musical director and performing as a band member on her recent symphony tour of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Fittingly, his early study of classical composition informs the way he approaches a lot of his electronic releases as upsidedownhead.
