Totally smitten by these melodies from Tanaya and those last 30 secs are just what it needed for a final punch.”

Perth multi-instrumentalist Tanaya Harper burst back onto Australia’s indie music scene in October 2019 with her insightful lyricism and silken melodies, bearing all on her current single ‘Crash Pad’, which is lifted from her forthcoming EP Slow Motion Break-Up, due for release in early 2020.

The end of 2019 saw Tayana play a sold-out hometown single launch, named as a highlight at Perth’s inaugural WAM Fest, as well as ‘Crash Pad’ coming in at number 5 in the top played songs on RTR radio, plus charting in the Top 10 Amrap Metro Charts for two consecutive weeks.

Tanaya is now pleased to introduce her new band, in her dreamy music video directed, edited, and produced by Perth filmmaker Matthew Pitcher.

‘Crash Pad’ is a song is about feeling unloved in a relationship, which over time leads to the person daydreaming about whether they would be happier alone. The dreaminess that Matt has communicated in the video may relate directly back to discussions we had about what the song is about: when there’s a disconnect between two people when they aren’t seeing eye-to-eye when there’s this space between them that they just can’t seem to mend,” explains Tanaya on the making of the video.

“I wanted it to feel as though the band were performing in front of an audience, almost like a live appearance on a late night show in the 70’s or 80’s. Ultimately we didn’t want a narrative to distract from the music, so we found a simple and unique approach and rolled with it.” – Matthew Pitcher

In her short amount of time performing as a solo artist, Harper has opened for the likes of Jen Cloher, Body Type, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Stella Donnelly and Alex The Astronaut, and is looking forward to her first show on 2020 on the 29th January at The Bird in Northbridge Perth.
