Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Kali Priya Flanagan, who records as Superfan, has announced a new album, My Piledriver Heart. The album will be released on 16 October via AD 93 / Remote Control Records.
The announcement arrives alongside the release of Superfan’s new single, ‘In the Gold Room’, accompanied by a live video filmed by Garrett Winston inside the Agger Fish Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Superfan was initially imagined as a solo project, with string arrangements developed in collaboration with cellist Omeed Almassi becoming a defining element of the project’s sound. My Piledriver Heart marks Flanagan’s first release outside of the record deal he signed at age 14.
The album was recorded largely live with Almassi and producer Hudson Pollock. Flanagan combines deeply tuned acoustic guitar, cello and Eastern musical influences, describing the resulting approach as his “Acousticello” sound. The record explores heartbreak, independence and what the release describes as hopeful melancholia, moving between folk, chamber music, pop-rock ballads and alternative rock.
“My Piledriver Heart” follows a run of recent releases from Superfan. Flanagan released ‘Apeiron (Fantasy Football)’ and ‘Miss W Jones’ last year, followed by ‘Picture of Return’ earlier in 2026. Following the release of his debut album Tow Truck Jesus, Flanagan opened for The Strokes at Red Rocks and has performed alongside Horsegirl, Knifeplay and Quiet Light, as well as playing support shows with King Woman and Victoryland. He is also a member of the emo band Holidays in United States.
Before Superfan, Flanagan released music under the name KALI. His early releases during the pandemic attracted millions of streams and led to collaborations with producers and industry teams. His background includes coming of age in Los Angeles within the new-wave pop world, an experience that informed his decision to pursue a more experimental approach with My Piledriver Heart.
