“You wouldn’t know they had just been on a 15 year hiatus…it seemed like they hadn’t missed a day. Their performance was stellar, and the crowd agreed. Crowd surfing, moshpits, horns in the air – the punters were having the time of their lives” – Wall Of Sound

“This was not just a nostalgic experience, this was better than ever. The Sunk Loto that strode confidently on to this stage, though the same humans, was a whole new beast” – Kill Your Stereo

“…the band sounding only better than they had 15 years ago, this is nostalgia heaven and everything feels right again…they’re tighter than ever, they sound bigger than ever” – Everblack Media

“Tonight’s set is twenty songs long, covering two LPs and their legendary debut EP…this is far more than a greatest hits affair. Deep cuts abound, and the crowd is loving it” – Sense Music Media

“With an explosion of energy and methodical precision that belie the fact that there had even been a 15 year hiatus as a band. Same band? Yes. Same Music?  Yes. Same performance? Not a chance! There was something fresh and exciting, like hearing it all again for the time but a more precise and mature version of those songs from long ago” – Metal-Roos
“A night fifteen years in the making for some…to say this was probably one of the most anticipated gigs for a Brisbane act in 2022 is a massive understatement” – The Live Wire
While 2022 has had its fair share of surprises, none have been more resoundingly celebrated than the announcement earlier this year that Australian metal pioneers Sunk Loto were officially returning to stages after a 15 year absence.

Selling out multiple Queensland shows within 24 hours of announcing their return, Sunk Loto swiftly went on to sell out additional 2022 shows, with a second Brisbane date and previously announced shows in Melbourne and Sydney rapidly reaching capacity. But if you missed out on snagging a chance to catch the prolific quartet back and bigger than ever live in action, a handful of tickets still remain for the second Melbourne show at Max Watt’s on Thursday 24 November. With unanimous praise from critics and fans alike so far for these explosive and in-depth shows, absence has indeed made the heart and the band’s ferocity grow fonder, and these final 2022 Sunk Loto shows are not to be missed.

If you had to list the most important heavy Australian albums of all time, it’s likely that Sunk Loto’s 2003 release Between Birth and Death would be near the top, and metal aficionados still consider the band as one of the most influential home-grown bands of the early 2000s.

Signed to Sony in 1999 when the average age of the band members was 16, Sunk Loto released an EP and two albums over their 10-year history. They toured the world with bands like KornLinkin ParkSuicidal TendenciesPerfect CircleDeftonesSevendust and staked their claim as an epic live band at festivals such as Big Day Out, Homebake, Vans Warped Tour, Splendour in The Grass, and Falls.

Now, after 15 years apart, Sunk Loto have returned to the stage, with multiple sold out shows in Queensland earlier this year, and three shows remaining this November. The shows feature all four original members, Jason BrownDane BrownLuke McDonald and Sean Van Gennip, who have come together to reconnect with their fans, entertain, have fun, and reignite their love of playing music.

After “five years of silence” (times 3) in a live setting, definitely don’t miss the final chance to catch Sunk Loto back at it in 2022 – snag your ticket today to one of the biggest shows of the year!
