“ ‘WHOAMI’ rattles with dark beats and claustrophobic drum patterns, his rhetorical question pulsating throughout the single’s murky grooves.”- Line of Best Fit “With a voice that engaging and an unquenchable fire in his belly, expect to hear a lot more from Natty Wylah in the future.”– Trench Added to Dazed monthly playlist “Although the track sounds like it coming from a place of anger, it bristles with clarity”- Surviving The Golden Age
Greeting 2020 with a burst of inspiration, Natty Wylah is pleased to release new single ‘Feel U’ (produced by dylantheinfamous), another injection of lyrical dexterity from the North-London artist. It follows the release of his 2019 widely-praised 2019 single ‘WHOAMI’ [listen]. Where ‘WHOAMI’ was bristling and intense, ‘Feel U’ is a burst of warmth through the frigid winter air.
“its funny it’s sunny outside but I just feel like sitting indoors”
The track finds Natty ruminating on love and life over a flipped Jorja Smith sample taken from her UK garage leaning cut ‘On My Mind’. The sample is altered to a more melancholic quality than the original, adding to Natty’s stream of conscious raps on the track.
On the track, Natty says, “feel u is written from a hungover hole with a faint ray of light shining through contemplation. Through a haze of flings and things – needing something deeper: the light expands throughout the song culminating in a new day, telling them they can hate if they like “‘they’re just wasting their own time.’”.
In late 2019 Natty introduced himself with the impactful single ‘WHOAMI’, a song that was a fightback against the racial stereotypes, prejudice and misinformation he has experienced growing up as a mixed-race person in London. After building himself up in 2019, 2020 is set to be a big year for Natty Wylah, the release of ‘Feel U’ is just the beginning.
