Toronto’s Katie Cruel has released her new single, “First Frost,” a standout b-side from her critically acclaimed album, “Lost Vagus,” which debuted last year.
“When we recorded ‘Lost Vagus’ in a rented barn, we captured 13 songs in just three days with the legendary producer Mark Howard,” says Cruel. “’First Frost’ came together spontaneously, reflecting a transformative summer and personal growth.” Known for her solo performances, Katie has opened for acclaimed artists like Blue Rodeo, Wilco, Joe Pernice (The Pernice Brothers), and Kathleen Edwards.
After spending five years settling back into the Northumberland Hills, Ms. Cruel’s new music showcases heavy bass, twangy guitars, and thunderous drums, evoking a garage rocky, dreamy folk scene that draws you in immediately.
