Bristol duo Getdown Services unleash their critically acclaimed second album, Massive Champion, via Breakfast Records.

Bristol’s Getdown Services have released their hugely anticipated second album, Massive Champion, via Breakfast Records — a 13-track rush of anarchic energy, sharp wit and absurdist observations on everyday British life.

Childhood best friends Josh Law and Ben Sadler continue to expand the singular world they have built over the past five years, while pushing into new emotional and lyrical territory. Written and recorded at the beginning of the year during a brief break between headline tours across the UK and US, Massive Champion draws on childhood memories, British cultural detritus and the strange poetry found in ordinary life.

The album arrives as Getdown Services’ momentum continues to accelerate. Recent single ‘Cha Cha Slide’ has become another defining anthem for the duo, earning a spot on the BBC 6 Music playlist alongside widespread critical acclaim.

To mark the album’s release, the band have also shared a live session video for ‘Lentils’, one of the record’s many standout moments.

Speaking about the release, Getdown Services say:

“We’re really excited to see what people make of this album. It’s different this time because people are actually paying attention to what we do but we’re proud of how little that came into the making of the album though. It’s a solid bit of work and we’ve done a good job of trying to make something honest. Do us a favour and listen to it in full.”

The album follows an extraordinary run for the band, including performances at Harry Styles’ Meltdown, an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland, and sold-out headline tours across the UK, Europe, the US and Australia.

Demand for their biggest headline tour to date has already been significant, with 86% of the November and December dates sold out.

Getdown Services are increasingly becoming more than one of the UK’s most talked-about new bands. Their chaotic, high-octane approach to modern British life blends rave, satire, social commentary and a gleefully unpredictable live energy.

The acclaim has followed:

“Massive Champion is a ridiculous triumph” — DIY, 4.5★

“Delightfully impossible to predict from beginning to end” — Uncut, 8/10

“Triumphant” — Record Collector, 4★

“Getdown Services are no joke” — The Skinny, 4★

“High octane, low-culture genius” — The Guardian

“The most exciting and interesting band in the UK right now” — Clash

“One of the best live bands out there full stop” — Rolling Stone UK

“A gleeful antidote to po-faced indie cool” — The Observer
