EVANGELINE RELEASES MOODY NEW SINGLE 'BAD PARTIES' FT. JULIUS

“new and exotic electro pop” – Purple Sneakers
“one of Melbourne’s most underrated smash-smiths” – Project U

Melbourne singer-songwriter Evangeline has returned with her latest dark-pop offering, the moody anti-party anthem ‘Bad Parties’ featuring Los Angeles-based rapper Julius.

Stream ‘Bad Parties’ ft. Julius here.

Creating an impression of otherness from the opening line ‘You say to eat these vitamins, I’d have more fun if I try to fit in’, Evangeline evokes a sense of powerlessness that everyone has felt at some point, when displaced in an environment that doesn’t feel authentic to their self. Combining her equally hypnotic and haunting vocals, the chorus amplifies Evangeline’s ‘them versus us’ outsider attitude, ‘Bad parties, filled by people with perfect teeth. We’re just at the bad parties, distract ourselves with nicotine.’

Produced by Fossa Beats (ALLDAY, Bebe Rexha) ‘Bad Parties’ infuses elements of darkness throughout the pop and R&B soundscape, with visual storytelling at the forefront as the listener watches from the outside looking in and taking on the anxieties of being stuck with the wrong crowd. The song continues by highlighting the paradox of pretending to fit in just to make someone else happy ‘I do it all for you, this is all for you,’ despite Evangeline trying to separate herself from the boring people around her ‘I guess we’re having fun.’

Since making her musical debut in 2015 with singles ‘CHEMICVL’ and ‘My Kingdom’Evangeline has gone on to amass 9 million cumulative streams across Spotify and YouTube. She signed an international publishing deal with Universal France ahead of the release of her first EP Atelophobia in 2017, which was released via her newly-founded label Sad Boy Records. In the time since, she has refined her craft by experimenting with new styles and techniques, making a name for herself as a sought-after collaborator having joined forces with the likes of Donatachi, LOVER and Killboy to name a few.
