Where are you currently based?

This year I’ve been based in Sydney and it’s really nice being home! Before that I was splitting my  time between here and Los Angeles.

How was your time living in LA and touring the states?

It’s different for everyone but personally, I loved it. It’s a really cool place to meet your “people” as  it’s full of musicians, actors, directors, writers, poets, artists, dancers and creatives from literally  everywhere in the world, all with common interests and a shared work ethic. Touring in the US is just unreal and I miss it more than anything. It was an epic experience and a great way to travel to  so many different cities. Cannot wait to get back to it!

Will you be heading back to the US when you are able?

Yes! As long as a certain virus finds it’s chill, I’m hoping to be back touring asap. I’m booked for a six  week tour early next year and I’m keen to work with my team again in person. Keeping my fingers  crossed!

What’s been happening recently?

So much! I’m so stoked to say that my new single “Focused” has just been released along with the  music video! I also have a dance video coming in the next few weeks, choreographed by the very  talented @georgiefabien. There’s also a Focused merch line which will be out very soon. After that  it’s straight to work on the next single!

How did you first start playing music?

I’ve always loved music but it started with dance really. I was in dance classes from the time I could  walk but by the time I was a teenager, I knew that I wanted to make music my career. I still like to  integrate dance into my music especially when performing live.

How do your thoughts on female empowerment affect your music?

We have the power each and every day, in big and small ways, to encourage other womxn that  they can achieve their goals in any role they choose. I think it’s important to use my platform as a  musician to set an example that it’s okay to speak up for everything that you believe in and to  speak up for yourself, especially as a young womxn. I am constantly inspired by the womxn around  me and the womxn taking over the music industry today. I’m looking forward to writing and  exploring these themes even more in upcoming music.

Your new single ‘Focused’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting? My co-writer, Lynniah Herron, is one of my favourite writers. Working together is effortless and just  the most fun. We were writing this song almost as an anthem of confidence for all my womxn out  there. At the same time, I feel that I was subconsciously writing these lyrics to empower myself, a  moment to kind of show my flirtatious side. This last year has been a year of growth for me,  personally and musically. I wanted the sound to feel good if that makes sense. I wanted it to be easy  on the ears and smooth as butter.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?

Focused was actually done quite a while ago now, roughly right before I came home in late 2020. All  written, recorded and mastered at The Write Key Studios in Northern California with my go-to boss  lady, Lynniah Herron and produced by Composer. It’s the studio where I recorded my debut EP,  Bossed Up, and one of my favourite places to create.

What do you like to do away from music?

I have all kinds of creative outlets with photography being a big one for me. As an independent artist  you kind of have to wear many hats. Learning about photography and film was a good way to cover  a lot of the behind the scenes, artwork and visual content specs myself – being the Creative Director  behind all of my recent music has been so fun! Building from that, I’ve also been working with quite  a few brands to create content. Moving away from the creative all together, hanging with mates,  family and watching sports takes the cake.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

This week Sinead Harnett, Jazmine Sullivan, Snoh Aalegra and Lucky Daye are on repeat for me but by next week I’m sure it’ll be a completely different vibe. My playlists are all over the place! I’ve also  been listening to a lot of Aussie artists. Now more than ever is the time to support our local artists.  It’s been a wild year or two – honestly can’t keep up with how long it’s been – and the music industry  has been hit hard. With all these lockdowns, streaming your favourite homegrown artists goes such  a long way. A couple on my playlists at the moment are San Cisco, Jack River and Mel Ertler.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2021 going into 2022?

I will be releasing another single in November with some new creative projects coming next year.  I’m also about to head back into the studio to write. We’re going to make 2022 a dream year so stay  tuned!

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Hardest question ever. All I do is eat. Honestly, my favourite place to hang out is probably the grocery  store. But I would have to put tacos at the top of my list. Favourite places to hang out would just be  your classic Aussie pubs and beaches.
