SUPPORT FOR SUNSLEEPER

“Trust us when we say it’ll be stuck in your head for the rest of the week!”
Hysteria Magazine (AUS)

Sunsleeper is an indie rock band hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, they are unveiling a beautiful and captivating cover of Mac Miller’s ‘Come Back To Earth’. With the tour cycle of their previous album cut in half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band found time to pay homage to the late rapper with their rendition of the track off of his 2018 LP ‘Swimming‘.

Speaking on the track, frontman Jeffery Mudgett recounts finding solace in the track, “to me the record perfectly captures self-reflection and hopefulness while in the midst of a dark season. There’s a beautiful conflict of hope and defeat throughout the album that resonated with me deeply during the start of the pandemic.”

Debut full-length, ‘You Can Miss Something & Not Want It Back’, released by Rude Records in 2019, boasts a nostalgic quality while still feeling fresh and new. The bands 90’s indie rock influence is apparent across the record, as is their contemporary emo sound; a sound that has solidified a name for them in the scene since the release of their debut EP ‘Stay the Same’ in 2016.

On the title and theme of YCMS&NWIB, Mudgett says, ‘You Can Miss Something & Not Want It Back’, “chronicles the process of wrestling with the understanding of change and learning to accept it.”

‘Come Back To Earth’ comes off of a larger body of work slated to be released in the coming months.

‘Come Back To Earth’ is available worldwide now

LISTEN TO “PURE HEART”

Twenty-eight years ago, a sentient, sensual and vulnerably innocent presence framed Tricky’s trip-hop pioneering white label debut release, Aftermath. Hauntingly unique and immediately recognisable, that voice became the defining timbre of a new music movement.

Behind this voice was mysteriously soft-spoken, London-born Martina Topley-Bird who came in and out of the music industry gifting and teasing with her exquisite voice inspiring and infusing other pioneering artists from different genres.

“Forever I Wait” is Topley-Bird’s fourth long awaited studio album and her very first self-produced and curated piece of work to date. The 12-track album, set for release 10th September captures an extensive journey describing, confronting, analysing, reflecting and sometimes goading as it ultimately seeks to make peace with what life is.

Starting off with “Pure Heart”, in what appears to be a pledge to the muse’s muse, segueing into, and winding through painful echoes and dreamy illusions of “Wanted” then morphing into tense and punchy lines of “Hunt” the album takes many turns and ends on cleansing and self-accepting “Rain”.

It is “a trip through my (MTB’s) psyche, switching through different states and frequencies of emotions and reflections”.

“Forever I Wait”, as the title alludes, was written and re-written over a long period of time.

“I had to recalibrate/reconfigure my way of relating to music and the music industry in order to make the record I wanted to make.…and that took time. And I took the time I needed. I started in London, moved and lived in America for the first time in my life, then briefly moved back to London and finished the record in Spain.”

“After trying to work on a new record for a couple of years, I came to a realisation that in order to move forward I had to separate the concept and vision I had for this record from me as a person. That made it less personal and therefore possible for me to defend and fight for the concept of the record rather than making it about myself and my ideas.  It had been difficult for me in my previous projects. I was conflating the work with myself and my ego and by separating I was more assertive about communicating the bounds of the project. That was a big personal win and the beginning of “Forever I Wait.”

“Forever I Wait” leans on a multitude of tense sounds, dubby atmospherics and natural instrumentation to demand the listeners attention leading to over two decades of observations, experiences and musical sacrifices. It is a bi-product of the new perspective featuring carefully selected and tailored supporting arrangements from a handful of collaborators including Robert del Naja (Massive Attack), Rich Morel (Deep Dish collaborator and re-mixer for t.A.T.u., Pet Shop Boys,   Depeche Mode, Yoko Ono, Seal), Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray and Depeche Mode), Benjamin Boeldt (Adventure) and California based Tiadiad.

“By creating, selecting, and tailoring all the materials myself  – backing tracks/ beats, collaborators and lyrics – eventually I was able to get to where I wanted”.

Amorphous compositions often buoyed by warm strings, delicate and intimate – Topley-Bird’s distinctively pliable voice reaffirms not only her talent in songwriting and production but an unquestionable devotion to solo artistry.

A truthful expression of desire and heartache “Forever I Wait “Is Topley Bird’s most precise and accurate album to date.

Background:

After appearing as a featured artist on Tricky’s debut album, Maxinquaye (1995) and on subsequent albums Pre-Millennium Tension (1996) and Angels with Dirty Faces (1998) Martina Topley-Bird released the understated Mercury Prize nominee debut “Quixotic” in 2003 followed by a five-year gap when she enlisted the help of Danger Mouse on sophomore album “The Blue God”.

In 2010, Topley-Bird appeared on Massive Attack’s album Heligoland on tracks “Psyche” and “Babel” and toured with Massive Attack from 2009 to 2016. Her third album, “Some Place Simple” was released in July 2010 in which the minimalism and intimacy of her songs subtly captivated her listeners.

Her hypnotic voice has been part of collaborations with Diplo, Common, Gorillaz, Clark, Prodigy and Massive Attack.

US pop Trio Cheat Codes release DEBUT album | New single with Tinashe ‘Lean On Me’ | Stream now

by the partae May 9, 2021
written by the partae

Prolific hit-making trio Cheat Codes, popularly known for their smash single “No Promises” (feat. Demi Lovato), has released the first part of their anticipated three-part debut album, Hellraisers Pt. 1, available on all DSPs and streaming services. The ground-breaking eleven track project is highlighted by standout single “Lean On Me (feat. Tinashe)”.

Hellraisers, Pt. 1 sees the multi-platinum group uniting with an eclectic cast of fellow artists, including Pop superstar Tinashe and Spanish alt-pop singer-songwriter Au/Ra. In addition, the album includes recently released tracks such as “On My Life,” “Heaven,” “Between Our Hearts (feat. CXLOE),” “Stay (feat. Bryce Vine),” “Washed Up,” “Do It All Over (feat. Marc E. Bassy),” “No Chill (feat. Lil Xxel),” and “Hate You + Love You (feat. AJ Mitchell).”

The name of the album, “Hellraisers,” was the nickname given to the group by their late manager, Michael Theanne, who passed away just over a year ago, describing their playful and adventurous lifestyle. The album itself has three parts – each part has a distinct sound influenced by each member. This first part is focused on Trevor’s pop-leaning sound, while the second part will be focused on KEVI’s hip-hop flavor, and the third part will be focused on Matthew’s dance-influenced sound.

Heavily influenced by pop music, the trio creates a colourful and vivid story that is seen throughout each song on Hellraisers Pt. 1. “Lean On Me,” the album’s lead single featuring Tinashe, will entice your ears from the very first listen. The bassline and use of different percussive elements carries the song’s emotion and ambition to center stage thanks to the group’s versatile skills. Tinashe and Trevor’s memorable vocals elevate the piece to the next level. With lyrics such as, “Baby when you’re falling, you can lean on me, when you don’t feel strong, when you don’t believe,” it’s hard to not relate.

Hellraisers, Pt. 1 Tracklist

  1. On My Life
  2. Lean On Me (feat. Tinashe)
  3. Do It All Over (feat. Marc E. Bassy)
  4. Stay (feat. Bryce Vine)
  5. Between Our Hearts (feat. CXLOE)
  6. Heaven
  7. No Chill (feat. Lil Xxel)
  8. Wish It Was Me (feat. Au/Ra)
  9. Mathematics
  10. Hate You + Love You (feat. AJ Mitchell)

Release date: Out now!
Download/stream link: MixmashBOLD.lnk.to/TTnight
After a hugely prolific 2020 that saw Plastik Funk debut in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s Poll, his eclectic and party-starting releases, as well as electric live shows when touring was able to happen, have helped to accelerate his fanbase through the stratosphere.  Where last year, he upped the ante on singles such as ‘High Enough’ with Firebeatz, ‘Rock This Town’ with Deekey and, most recently, his Eastern-influenced ‘Tribute To Asia’ EP, he now returns to Mixmash Bold to keep the momentum running.

Linking up with Pajane and Salvatore Mancuso, the trio get poised to soundtrack you ‘Through The Night’ with a deeper, funk-house anthem. Inaugurating their collective sound with a 4/4 beat that sets the club-ready tone of the track, space is suddenly discovered for the breathy female vocal to enchant. As “Sweet dreams of rhythm and dancing / Sweet dreams of passion through the night” soars above a dramatic collection of deeper synths, the topline delivery suddenly evolves into looped and chopped territory to bring a unique, unexpected and dance-inducing level of fun to the production.  As all the elements come together come the climax, it’s an eruption of hands-in-the-air joy that is ready to alight the Spring!

Eagle-eyed fans may recognise Pajane and Salvatore Mancuso from linking up with Plastik Funk himself on their collective VIP edit of the aforementioned’s ‘Feet Don’t Touch’, as colossal releases from Pajane including ‘White Powder’ has seen him receive support from artists including Bassjackers, with Mancuso also unleashing his live weaponry everywhere from Sunset Beach Festival, to Ibiza and beyond as one of the freshest Italian talents.

ILLYUS & BARRIENTOS DROP SUMMER READY SINGLE, “SUPERSONIC”

by the partae May 9, 2021
written by the partae

LISTEN HERE

Needing very little introduction to the dance music community, Glasgow duo Illyus & Barrietos continue to pave their way towards the upper levels of dance music production royalty and subsequently radio airways with their new summer track “Supersonic”

The new single out now via Ultra Music arrives loaded with un-adulterated bass, minimal distractions and a deeply palpable feeling of summer.  Bringing their lockdown studio output to the center stage ready for clubland to resume; “Supersonic” follows on from the Scottish pair’s previous disco-laced single “Dancing Hearts’ and reverts to their classic, ubiquitous approach to drums and contemporary and soulful vocals.

As an eminent pair on the global DJ scene, their original, well-travelled and energetic production style which to both the army of DJ’s that support and the enthusiastic global fans that enjoy, is as much in demand is it is instantly recognizable and is quickly making deep floor-filling house music their natural habitat.

Illyus & Barrietos’s latest vocal house offering via their signing with Ultra Music also serves as a reminder that the pair have diverse origins – Barrientos has Chilean parents and was born in America, while Illyus grew up in Frankfurt after being born in Govan. They met on Glasgow’s dance floors in 2014, building a friendship over their mutual love of the kind of unashamedly big, floor-filling modern house tunes that have since propelled them to dizzying levels of acclaim.

With previous releases on the likes of Defected, Glasgow Underground, and their Toolroom, the duo continue to be rewarded with regular support from leading tastemakers including Annie Mac, Danny Howard and Pete Tong, whilst also previously featuring as part of Radio 1’s legendary Essential Mix series.

IN DEEP WE TRUST – ‘BA:SEN’ (TENSNAKE REMIX)
OUT NOW
When Oumi Janta used ‘Ba:sen’ to soundtrack one her famous roller-skating videos, little did she nor producer In Deep We Trust know what was to come. With the video getting hundreds of thousands of views overnight and shares from the likes of Alicia Keys, Celeste Barber & Viola Davis the track went on an upward spiral to success. It was soon signed to the glorious FFRR and has since, been labelled a hit and with support from music heavyweights such as Pete Tong, Sam Divine & Martin Garrix.

Now, the viral sensation is pushed into the realms of summer disco and beyond with German DJ / Producer Tensnake’s retouch, putting his signature blend of boogie, funk & soul into the mix.

“I came across “Ba:sen” through the Instagram video post featuring Afro-German roller-skating influencer Oumi Janta. The track instantly ticked all of my boxes and I added it to my Spotify playlist, ON REPEAT. Funnily enough a few days later I got a call from Andy Daniell who had just signed Ba:sen for a re-release of the track. Just like him, I was baffled that I did not know the track when it originally came out in 2012, I think. It’s really fantastic, the production is spot on, it is somewhat minimal, but very catchy at the same time. I had lots of fun remixing it.” – Tensnake
After getting his first taste of critical acclaim in 2009 with his ‘In The End (I Want You To Cry)’ EP, Tensnake has been cementing his status as a dance music pioneer every step along the way. The Hamburg-born DJ, producer and label boss secured U.K. chart success with 2010 single ‘Coma Cat’, officially remixed songs from the likes of Aloe Blacc (‘I Need A Dollar’, 2010), Lana Del Rey (‘National Anthem’, 2012), London Grammar (‘Hey Now’, 2014) and Duke Dumont (‘I Got You’, 2014), collaborated with Nile Rodgers, three-time Grammy-winner Stuart Price, Jamie Lidell, MNEK, Fiora and more for his debut album Glow in 2014, and snatched up over 70 million streams on Spotify to date. After the release of his sophomore album L.A. last year, and joining the FFRR roster with this remix, Tensnake is taking all the right steps to continue his influence and push ‘Ba:sen’ to further ascension.

Where are you currently based?

I live in London now. I grew up in India and moved here at the age of 18.

How did you first start playing music?

I’ve been singing ever since I was a little girl. Being able to write music and sing is a way I can express myself. I can create a whole other world in my head to escape to – which was very handy in lockdown?

Your new single ‘Parallel’ which follows your previous single ‘Tastes Like Anarchy’. What influenced the sound?

‘Parallel’ has a really abstract vibe. It means something slightly different every time I listen to it- the good and bad side in a person living in parallel, always aware of each other but never meeting. Or two soulmates who were meant to be but who never quite got together.

The idea for the video is likewise very surreal. I worked with Stevie Coales who is an amazing director to come up with the concept and we filmed the whole thing in his flat (though you’d never know it!). The idea behind the video was to paint a picture of all the different sides to a person that live in harmony- it’s really quirky and fun- we used different lights, colours, textures etc to create completely different “worlds”. The song and video are really intended to spark the imagination and I hope people love it!

What does this track mean to you?

My mother is an artist and does a lot of abstract paintings. She uses beautiful vibrant colours and I love immersing myself in what she paints. I can stare at her work and disappear into it.

For me, my song ‘Parallel’ evokes images and shapes and colours in the same way that my mother’s art does. It transports me to a parallel world!

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who did you work with?

The track was recorded a while back in London. It was produced by One Bit (Stormzy, JP Cooper) and Haj (Sigma, Becky Hill).

You run London-based foundation ‘Discover2Dream’ which is aimed at connecting students with female role models in a variety of sectors, how did Discover2Dream come about and how has the experience been so far?

I’ve always loved speaking and engaging with school kids. I think it’s so important that as a youngster you’re exposed to people from different careers and backgrounds- it helps inspire you and I think increases aspirations. My sister and I set up Discover2Dream because we wanted to make sure that kids from ethnic minority backgrounds have access to female role models from different careers and sectors.

I have to also say that being able to perform my music for students is just amazing- they are always so honest and when they like a track you know it’s good!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I have Becky Hill on replay at the moment – I think she has such a fierce voice.

What do you like to do away from music?

This is going to sound weird but I love to play pranks on my friends!

What else is planned for 2021?

I want to be as creative as possible and build on what I managed to do last year. My last track ‘Tastes Like Anarchy’ had been recorded a while back and we were due to release it just as the pandemic hit. The initial idea for the video just wasn’t going to work and we had to adapt quickly- we decided to release a Zoom-inspired music video, featuring female dancers from a number of countries.

We never thought we’d get the reception we did but everyone loved the idea and the fact that we had managed to draw inspiration in a very difficult time. The video actually ended up winning the NeXtup Global Indie Music Competition (judged by Zhavia and Mally Mall) – which was just amazing.

I want to continue drawing inspiration for the simple things in life and unlikely sources to create something positive and beautiful.

I have a load of more great music in the pipeline! Next up will be a track with Tom Ferry who is an amazing Dance DJ. So definitely watch this space?

Favourite food and place to hangout?

I love food, especially Indian food.

I’ve spent most of this year hanging out in my flat. My favourite room at the moment is my living room – I’ve had to refashion it a bit. I’ve installed a cool light system which completely transforms what is a boring room by day into a different world at night!

Segiri ‘Parallel’ is out now. Buy / Stream at https://ffm.to/xxbdvxl. A Tom Ferry remix of ‘Parallel’ will be released on 4 June.

RUDE GRL & CC

by the partae May 9, 2021
written by the partae

What is your name and role within the band?

CC aka Chris Constantinou – Co-Writer/Producer – Bass Guitar/Guitar

Where are you currently based?

London

How did you first start playing music?

I was in and out of trouble all the time as a kid and music gave me a way out.

‘CC’ (aka Chris Constantinou) started out as Adam Ant’s bassist, and has gone on to work with a host of big names, including Lou Reed and Sinead O’Connor, and RudeGRL (aka Jenna Dickens) has worked with The Basement Jaxx, Sub Focus, and more. How did the trio form?

Jenna and I met many years ago when we were both signed to Sony but reconnected when I texted Jenna at 3 am saying I had an idea for a  live punk/rock music-meets-hip-hop concept, based on a band I had seen play in Finsbury Park years ago. I then met Jenna’s partner Bunni Morretto who is an award-winning Burlesque dancer and we clicked. I remembered Hawkwind had a dancer / character Stacia on stage which really made the show, and also the fun Bez brought to The Happy Mondays live with his crazy dancing / vibe, so I asked if Bunni would join us on stage and that’s how it all started. We’ll start shows in September.

What have you guys been up to recently?

Writing new material for the next album…preparing for photoshoots…live stuff.

Your new EP ‘Killer 16’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

Music wise…Nicholas De Carlo sent us some beats, I jammed some bass and guitars and Jenna AKA RudeGRL started doing her thing and we had it written and recorded in an hour.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who did you work with?

We recorded at my studio and Nick mixed it at his studio in Ramsgate. It was mastered in America.

What did you find most challenging and rewarding about the writing/recording process?

The most rewarding thing about it was being able to work so quickly. An hour a song and ending up with something we loved and also that people are now digging.

The band includes burlesque star Bunni Morretto, will you be incorporating Bunni into the live show more regularly over time?

Yes for sure 100%!!!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

The guy next door Adrian banging a hammer really loudly probably punishing me for the loud sessions we have in the studio.

What do you like to do away from music?

Good food / Yoga / Wine / Travelling / Sex / Driving around in ELLA my 1969 fastback playing loud music through the Rockford Fosgate mega sound system / Reading / Movies

What’s planned for the rest of 2021?

A new album and live work!

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Curry / Agonda – South Goa – India

Where are you currently based?

I’m currently based in Ealing, London! I grew up here.

You grew up between London and Ireland, how did the traveling back and forth affect you?

Travelling back and forth for me was actually super enjoyable. It was like having a life in England and a separate life in Ireland with different friendship groups in both.

How did you first start playing music?

The first music I ever played was Irish music when I was super young. I played the Irish traditional flute and took singing lessons as a kid.

Your debut EP ‘Bedroom Walls’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

I’ve always been super passionate about songs that can stand on their own two feet without much production around them. I think there’s something to be said for simplicity. That was the main influence of the sound, letting the songs speak for themselves. Regarding the songwriting, all the songs were inspired by real events and people.

How did you approach the recording/production process and who else did you work with?

For this EP all the songs were approached in a different way really, for the songs Pale Damp Cheeks I literally knew no one in music and cold called the owner of this music studio and he put me in contact with a sound engineer called Michael Biggs who ended up recording the song. The producer for Bedroom Walls was Brad Ellis for I Dare you was Edd Holloway and for For Her was Phil Davidson.

The EP has arrived with the new single ‘For Her’, how did this track come about and what does it mean to you?

I wrote For Her when I was abroad for a few months. I missed home and my friends and all in all felt pretty lost in myself. I wrote it literally at like 2am about the idea of waiting and wondering if you’ll ever get your spark back, missing who you used to be and wondering if she’s gone for good. It’s a super personal song that I was afraid to show anyone for quite a long time as it’s super revealing and covers some stuff that I’ve never covered in any of my songs before.

You’ve achieved over a million streams since launching in January this year, what do you attribute this massive success to?

I’d attribute the success to being surrounded by good people who believe in me, the honesty of the songs and the support of the people listening.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Phoebe Bridgers at the moment.

What do you like to do away from music?

Outside of music I spend a lot of time with my friends, I find a lot of inspiration from that for my songs.

What’s planned for the rest of 2021?

This year I’ll be releasing another EP and I have two headline shows in November!! One in Dublin and one in London.

Favourite food and place to hang out?

Fave food has to be chocolate. Every single time. And sweets. Sour ones. I don’t really have a fave place to hang out, anywhere where my friends are!!

Ark Woods’ music is affecting, funky, and infinitely memorable. His lyrics present an unflinching account of his experiences and beliefs, covering everything from social anxiety and depression, to love and commitment, to domestic violence, police brutality, and the Black Lives Matter movement. His sound is his own and ‘a stunning combination of funk and hip-hop that will continue to set him apart and elevate his profile with each release. With an ear for groovy instrumentals and impressive flows, he makes putting together high-quality music seem easy’ (Ones To Watch).

His influences include fellow Hawaiian Bruno Mars, the Soul Train era, and J. Cole while his combination of message and music—in the great tradition of Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye—is captivating listeners at a rapid pace.

The band’s core currently consists of producer/guitarist Felix Fung (Girlfriends//Boyfriends), bassist Max Sample (The Ballantynes), drummer Shawn Marazek (The Evaporators) and singer and keyboardist Jovana Golubovic (Les Chaussettes).

Sunday Morning presents its narrative in a breathtaking collage of genres. From rock and roll to lush dream pop their fresh approach to music and art engages on a pure and visceral level. Sunday Morning is dedicated to exploring the wide spectrum of emotion and seeks to bridge the duality of the human experience. In keeping with this mandate their new single Anna Says is a beautiful melding of hope and desperation. The song was produced and recorded by Felix Fung at Little Red Sounds Studio and mixed by Grammy and Juno award winning producer Chris Birkett (Sinead O’Connor, Buffy Sainte Marie). Guitar virtuoso Dave Dykhuizen, “Double D”, stopped by the session to add his unmistakable soulful flavor to the track. Anna Says is the latest chapter in Sunday Morning’s continuing arc through Wilson’s dark and troubled past towards the eternal promise of a new day.

Tess Anderson ‘Northern Lights’ Premiere

by the partae May 9, 2021
written by the partae

Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Tess Anderson enchants audiences with her candid performances. Open and unapologetic, she invites listeners into her most vulnerable moments through honest and authentic storytelling. Whether alone on stage with nothing but a keyboard and a guitar, or backed by a full band, she’s been known to silence crowds with her captivating musical presence. Pulling inspiration everywhere from old-school jazz standards to modern pop, her sound is heavily driven by her unmistakable voice.

Growing up in Victoria, BC, Tess’s debut into the music industry began at the rookie age of 12. Training as a vocalist and pianist, she began songwriting as a form of self-expression, finding numerous performance opportunities at a young age. By 15 she had recorded and released a self-produced 7-song album (under a different alias), quickly followed by her first sold-out show and national radio play on CBC. Moving to Vancouver in 2016 to pursue her career further, she received a diploma in songwriting, audio engineering, and music production. Tess went on to sign her first record deal with indie label BCR in 2019, become a finalist in the 2020 Canadian Songwriter Challenge, receive a 2021 Amplify BC Grant for her upcoming project, and build an impressive catalogue of original material.

With 42 live shows in 2019 and two single releases, Tess continues to build a name for herself in the Vancouver music scene. With a recent focus on collaboration, her latest endeavours include working with a range of local and international songwriters and producers, while spending time in the recording studio gearing up for an independent EP release coming summer 2021. With over ten years of songwriting and performance experience, her momentum and drive are only amplifying.

Freqish Releases Sultry House Single “Falling For You,” Featuring Saxophone Player Jason Whitmore. Out Now on Nervous Records

Legendary house and hip-hop NYC-based label Nervous Records is proud to debut Denver-based producer Freqish with his new single “Falling For You,” featuring saxophonist Jason Whitmore. The track is a euphonious house gem that incorporates organic live instrumentals for an extra special touch of groove. “Falling For You” begins with piano chords that lead into a melodic breakdown, while its sultry vocal riffs complement Whitmore‘s stunning saxophone solo. With each release Freqish invites instrumentalists to capture the raw energy of a live band, and thus the track conjures images of dancing under dim lights with lovers, friends, and strangers. This release is his third since the inception of Freqish in 2020, and follows his recent single “Let’s Get High” on Claude VonStroke‘s Dirtybird label. Check out Freqish‘s creative process around “Falling For You” below:

“I made this track in the middle of a pandemic, which oddly enough is when I actually found true love. A time when others felt isolated and alone. I felt solace for others who were lonely in their homes with limited human connection. I wanted to give people a reason to find hope through a dire time. Even in the darkness, you can find light if you just let the music guide you. When I was an intern at a studio in Chicago I always loved the vibe that came from getting artists together. When you get a bunch of creative minds in one space, it’s like magic. Now through the internet, we have the ability to connect with one another, which is truly beautiful. This was my best attempt at recreating the studio vibe. I spend a lot of time on the phone with my artists trying to understand their creative process. I don’t tell them how to create, I just let their soul do the talking so that our end result is 100.” – Freqish

Brandon Lee is the DJ, producer, and studio engineer behind the Freqish project, who has over 20 years of experience cutting his teeth in the music industry. His career has brought him to play at clubs such as The Church, Club Vinyl, and Beta Nightclub in his native Denver, as well as a two-year residency at Chicago‘s iconic Sound Bar. His releases under the Freqish alias have found homes on well-known house labels like Gettoblaster‘s We Jack, DJ Dan‘s InStereo Recordings, and Claude VonStroke‘s Dirtybird Records. As far as Freqish is concerned, the song isn’t final until more artists are in the mix; his approach to collaborating is not only a way to bring new sounds to a genre in which samples of samples of samples have become the norm, but as an avenue to build the careers of a growing community of musicians. With “Falling For You,” Lee proves yet again his talent as a multifaceted producer, and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

Platinum producer Felix Cartal announces the release of his upcoming album “Expensive Sounds For Nice People” on the 25th of June via Physical Presents. Ahead of the album release, the producer teams up with British pop icon Karen Harding on the stunning single “Only One.” Felix Cartal has already released several hit singles from the album, including “Mine” with Sophie Simmons, and “Love Me” (which are both certified Platinum) with “Love Me” (featuring the singer LIGHTS) also winning the Dance Recording of the Year at the Junos 2020. His previous single, “Get What You Give” also reached Platinum. Felix‘s recent single, “Happy Hour” with Kiiara was featured on 32 Spotify New Music Friday playlists and Billboard‘s Best New Dance Tracks and Popular Charts.

High energy, high romance, and high expectations are carrying us into the summer with Felix Cartal‘s latest single, “Only One,” featuring the stunning songstress Karen Harding and her unforgettable style. A playful attitude radiates throughout the single as the “give and take” atmosphere harnessed between the unique production style and powerful vocals lead us into a day of flirty fun and nights with blurry memories.

Felix Cartal tells us about the creation of the single: “I wrote this one with Karen, Chelsea, and Nick during a spontaneous session in LA. I feel like I have two modes when I make music, mode 1 would be something with an emotional heaviness, and mode 2 would be a response to just break away and make something that’s more of an uplifting escape. It was the summer, and I definitely was in mode 2.”

Karen Harding further elaborates on the single: “I loved this writing session. We were all on such a high, and I think it definitely came across in the song. We wanted to write a song about that overwhelming feeling of when you know someone is ‘the one‘, we’ve all felt it at some point.”

Vancouver-based Felix Cartal has collaborated with several major artists such as Kaskade, R3HAB, Gallant, and has also created official remixes for the likes of Selena Gomez, Zedd, Galantis, Dillon Francis, MØ, Ellie Goulding, Diplo, Anne-Marie & Doja Cat, as well as Daya & Shallou‘s “Older.” He has been featured by major Youtube channels, such as Trap Nation, Mr. Suicide Sheep, Mr. Revillz, Chill Nation, The Vibe Guide, Selected, xKito amongst others, and has earned over 360 million plays across platforms. He has also seen support from BBC Radio 1‘s Danny Howard and Diplo & Friends, and Sirius XM has also heavily supported several singles, while his Weekend Workout radio show is also featured on Sirius XM’s Diplo’s Revolution.

The UK hit singer-songwriter Karen Harding‘s impressive body of work now surpasses 400 million combined Spotify streams. After the worldwide success of her previous single “Un-Do My Heart,” with Digital Farm Animals now passing 20 million streams, her current UK single with Shift K3Y titled “Morning” is on airwaves across the world. Hailing from Durham County, Karen will next be leading into her first-ever mini-album due in July on Ultra Music.
