Having sold out previous hometown shows in 60 seconds, all tickets for upcoming dates, including the legendary O2 Ritz, Manchester, are set to go on general sale on Fri 31 July 2020 at 10am

The Lathums, Spring 2021 Tour
Tickets on general sale Fri 31 July 2020, 10am from
www.gigsandtours.com / www.ticketmaster.co.uk
Latest single, All My Life, OUT NOW on Island Records

The unstoppable rise of The Lathums escalates further with the announcement that the four-piece will play their biggest shows to date in April and May 2021, including a dream-come-true date at the historic O2 Ritz, Manchester and a return to the capital to play at London’s Electric Ballroom. The 13-date, nationwide run goes onsale to the band’s fervent, and growing, fanbase on Fri 31 July 2020 at 10am.

The emergence of the melodic indie band from Wigan with heart-quickening live intensity, near-spiritual positive energy and literary influences (Essential listening: Fight On – influenced by tales of the French Resistance) has thrilled those waiting patiently for new heroes of emotive guitar music that means everything. An 18-month journey from playing bars to selling out their first headline tour in just one day, signing to Island Records on the way, made for a breathless first chapter. With the plot warming up to the point of overheating, the next, exciting episode gets underway on even bigger stages.

Rushing into 2021 with a run of rescheduled support dates in the UK and Europe with Blossoms and domestic engagements with Paul Weller, the full list of dates for The Lathums Spring Tour 2021 are as follows:

  • Thu 22 Apr          Hull, Social
  • Fri 23 Apr            Manchester, O2 Ritz
  • Sat 24 Apr           Stoke, Sugarmill
  • Thu 29 Apr          Glasgow, Garage
  • Fri 30 April          Sheffield, University Foundry
  • Sat 1 May            Newcastle, Riverside
  • Tue 4 May           Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
  • Wed 5 May          Birmingham, O2 Institute 2
  • Fri 7 May             Leicester, O2 Academy 2
  • Sat 8 May            Leeds, Beckett Students Union
  • Sun 9 May           Cardiff, Globe
  • Tue 11 May          Oxford, O2 Academy 2
  • Wed 12 May         London, Electric Ballroom

Dance at a Distance with brand new outdoor pop up series Social Avenue

by the partae July 29, 2020
written by the partae
Social Avenue is taking over a car park in Manchester’s Trafford Park and turning it into a safe and welcoming music and food pop up for a series of socially distant events for six weeks from 25th July, with the red hot Mason Collective headlining the first party. Brands and DJs like Darius Syrossian, Moxy Muzik, Haus22, OC & Verde and many more will all be taking part in future events, ensuring that summer is rescued and people finally get dancing safely and legally for the first time in four months.
You can expect huge brand partnerships and DJs from all dance music genres to take over this space on Saturday and Sundays at Longbridge Road at Trafford Park, Manchester. Social Avenue will be only powered by the best ‘Void Tri Motion’ sound system and on-site bars will be fully stocked with all of your favourite beers, gins, vodkas, whisky, brandy and much more.
Mouthwatering eats are also available so you can enjoy a variety of delicious street food to carry you throughout your day at Social Avenue. It starts when you and those in your social bubble will be seated on a table that is exclusively for you and your crew so you can enjoy the day at a safe distance from all.
As well as food and music there will be photo booths and cameo areas for you to get that perfect social media selfie shot all whilst maintaining a safe distance. One-way systems will be in place in toilet areas, bars and around the site to keep you safe, and face masks and coverings are advised, with sanitiser stations available throughout the site.
It all kicks off with The Mason Collective, who since their inception in 2014 have been drawing attention in the underground music scene for their explosive DJ sets and highly renowned MVSON events. The Manchester based DJ and production trio have been developing their own signature brand of high energy grooves, showcasing them at a number of high profile clubs all round the world, so this hometown gig will be epic indeed.
Tickets are only available in groups of 2,3,4,5 or 6 and you must stay with your group in your zone for the duration of the day.

Delivered Live – Season 2, Episode 2

by the partae July 29, 2020
written by the partae

Delivered, Live kicks off its second episode of the return season with a line up with a punk edge and an indie heart. Kicking off the show is Melbourne indie singer songwriter Nat Vazer, followed by blues-punk legend Kim Salmon & The Surrealists, with punk 3 piece Cable Ties rounding out the show.

Delivered, Live made its debut in April this year as a response to COVID 19 forcing the world into lockdown. The show is made available to watch free on YouTube so as to be accessible to any who choose to watch it. However, for those that can afford it, tickets are available for purchase for a range of price points, starting from as little as $20 – less than you’d pay to see most of these acts in non-pandemic times.
The revenue from these tickets then goes back to the artists and the crew creating the show, plus a live music venue and crew member of each acts’ choice.

Bringing the laughs will be up and coming comedian Alex Ward, and our regular recap on ‘the week that was’ with Sami Shah.

As we head into the weekend that would have been, the team at Splendour HQ are feeling a little (okay a LOT) nostalgic for our favourite weekend of the year. We’re missing the 100+ bands across the 4 main stages, the 21 bars, 70+ food stalls, 60 market stalls, 240 showers, 842 porta loos (actually not really missing them that much), 185 site sheds, 4850 pallet walk boards, 20km of temporary fencing, 70 golf buggies, 750 lanterns, endless gaffa tape and more than anything the 3500+ staff, volunteers and crew along with tens of thousands of music lovers that come together at North Byron Parklands each year to create the magic that is Splendour in the Grass. As we head into the weekend that would have been, the team at Splendour HQ are feeling a little (okay a LOT) nostalgic for our favourite weekend of the year.

Splendour memories are starting to fill the social media feeds, giving us all the happy sads. So we thought we’d ramp it up a notch and drop this vid on you too!

written by the partae

UK label Big Scary Monsters has announced a Virtual Popup store, which will open its doors at 4pm on 27th July, with ‘instore’ performances every day from illuminati hotties, Kevin Devine, We Were Promised Jetpacks, and Into It. Over It (see poster for full line up). The virtual store can be entered here on launch day, and will stock exclusive vinyl variants, rare test pressings and new merch, alongside interviews with Jamie Lenman, Delta Sleep and Martha and more.

Users will be able to click on sections of the store to reveal instores and live Q&As at relevant times. Activites include special live content exclusive to the store, such as a conversation between Chris Farren and Kevin Devine, live songs from ‘A Lull In Traffic’ from The Gloria Record, a very special live cover song from The Winter Passing, and a Q&A with Jamie Lenman to name a few.

The pop up aims to raise funds for Black Minds Matter UK and #saveourvenues, and there will also be a special t-shirt on sale with proceeds going towards these charities.

Talking about the store, label founder Kevin Douch said: “We absolutely love our popup shops. Having been to London, Cardiff, Glasgow and Brighton over the past couple of years, we decided there was only one possible destination for a summer like 2020; EVERYWHERE. The first ever BSM Virtual Popup shop provides all of the usual fun. We’ve got instores, talks, exclusive products, crazy discounts, test pressings and so much more. Our old friends Signature Brew are even providing the (mail order) beers! We can’t wait to open our online doors and see everyone next week.”

Terminal V welcomes Patrick Topping and his Trick brand as first in series of ALL NIGHTERS

by the partae July 16, 2020
written by the partae
Originally scheduled for August but delayed because of the Coronavirus pandemic, on December 19th Terminal V finally unveils Patrick Topping and his Trick All Night series with a monstrous event featuring the boss himself as well as Reiner Zonneveld, Floorplan, Mella Dee, Cinthie, Elliot Adamson and Ewen McVicar at the regular home of The Royal Highland Centre. This is set to be a spectacular and much needed return to the dance floor that we have all been waiting so long for, all with that world famous sense of immersion that makes Terminal V one of Europe’s finest promotions.

Patrick Topping’s most recent single ‘Rocket Fuel’ is out now on Trick and is already picking up huge Radio 1 play. He is, of course, a firm Terminal V favourite who turned out a much talked about, full to capacity headline show at Terminal V Easter 2019. From there he went on to sell out every major city around Scotland and so is now all set for a triumphant return. Once a resident at Jamie Jones renowned DC10 parties in Ibiza, he has gone on his own meteoric rise thanks to definitive releases on labels such as Hot Creations, and now his Trick brand is up there with the most recognisable in the world.

The action packed party runs from 8pm to 6am at Terminal V’s regular home of The Royal Highland Centre. It will all go down on the iconic The Area V stage, which will of course be completely transformed for these special showcase events with massively immersive, high spec and high tech production on a scale that will leave you in awe.

There are only 5000 tickets available for this unmissable return to action for one of the UK most loved party crews.

Date: Saturday 19th December
Venue: The Royal Highland Centre
Time: 20:00 – 06:00

ANGIE McMAHON ANNOUNCES ONLINE SOLO PIANO CONCERT – WEDNESDAY 29 JULY

by the partae July 15, 2020

Tickets On Sale Now

Tomorrow Angie McMahon was due to perform with her band at Latitude Festival in the UK.

This month Angie would have just kicked off her first headline band shows across the UK and Europe before spending some time in Ireland to write and explore. When the trip was cancelled in early March, Angie rallied to collect funds for a local charity Support Act, raising a target of $50,000 to go towards music workers in need of financial support.

In a search for a sense of connectedness amongst her band and team, as well as creating new work, Angie collaborated with local creatives to film and record An Online Solo Piano Concert. The online piano concert was filmed at The Perch Recording Studio, Castlemaine and recorded and mixed by Angie’s touring sound engineer, Jono Steer. The studio, based in regional Victoria, has been adapted in a way that allows for a solo artist to record in an isolated setting that abides by social distancing rules.

The videos were filmed by Angie’s manager Charlotte Abroms, edited by Angie’s regular editor, Lewis Parsons, a freelance editor based in Toronto, Canada. After the filming took place, Angie then recorded additional instrumentation for the tracks with the idea to officially release Piano Salt as an EP; a collection of reimagined piano versions of Angie’s original songs and some of her favourite covers. The tracks were mixed by Angie’s bass player and producer Alex O’Gorman and mastered by Adam Dempsey.

Angie and her team have felt connected, creative and collaborative working on the concert during the lockdown period. The concert is 35 minutes long, featuring Angie performing stripped back, reimagined piano versions of her original songs, a new song and a cover of one of her favourite songs. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster today.

“Practising the piano and recording something in isolation felt like the only thing I wanted to do when we were locked down, so it was really fun to turn this into a concert that will hopefully feel like an intimate live music experience while we can’t go visit our much loved venues. I got to reimagine songs off my record, and I currently prefer some of the piano versions honestly, so I hope people like them.”
– Angie McMahon

The concert will be housed at a newly launched website called Kind Face Creative, a home for music and creativity during the pandemic and beyond. There are multiple ticket tiers which cater to various stages of lockdown around the world, allowing for fans to watch at home alone, with a group of people and for venues to screen to an audience.

A portion of the concert’s proceeds will be donated to Clothing The Gap’s
‘Free the Flag Campaign’, in a bid to fight to free the Aboriginal flag from its current licensing and see Aboriginal people have equal rights and access to their flag.

“Free The Flag is one of the Indigenous movements that I want to throw support behind as an artist living and working on this land, where Indigenous communities are always having to fight for their rights. I love repping their merch and having conversations about how we can show support and keep showing up, and I hope our contribution helps bring light to that. It’s just doing something small, instead of doing nothing. I think it’s important for artists to commit their voices and profits to the issues in the world around us!” – Angie McMahon

Factory People announce ‘Away To’ – a new social distancing party series and live stream across epic locations in the Middle East

A global pandemic and strict lockdown regulations. The first few months of 2020 left clubs and artists alike facing an unprecedented challenge. One initiative, titled “Away To”, has challenged the status quo by hosting a new series of socially distant parties. “Away To” makes it a point to adhere to safety measures while giving party goers and online surfers a breath of fresh air, a stream to look forward to and a party to attend!
The initiative saw two emerging content platforms partner up to pioneer a new form of partying that’s more suited for the times. The first is Vuse, a brand determined to support the creative scene of the region. So much so that they’ve created their own platform, Creative State, dedicated to encouraging artists to stay active despite difficult circumstances.
The second is Late Knights, a content platform by Factory People – that documents alternative local and international artists, giving a real look into the music scene in the Middle East through documentaries, features and concerts.
Over the course of 3 months, the platform transformed from hosting regional & international DJs broadcasting live sets from their home to exceptionally produced socially distant parties.
The strategic shift saw both platforms dedicate their efforts to high quality production, enhanced physical and visual experiences, and of course, beautiful venues as the cherry on top. With their now-household series “Away to” – Late Knights and Creative State by Vuse was ready to take the world by storm.
Besides shedding light on young talent and introducing one of the first socially distanced dancefloors, each one of the “Away To” parties are set in different obscure, yet, magnificent locations. Every venue is a handpicked hidden gem where the DJ booth is at the heart, surrounded by eager ravers moving to its beat.
Travel from one scenic venue to another, from Beirut, Dubai to Egypt, passing by Berlin – catch “Away To”, live every Friday on the Vuse Middle East Facebook page and on www.lateknights.co.

CHARLIE GRADON IMMERSES IN NATURE DURING LOCKDOWN WITH THE HAZY CLIP FOR ‘BLURRY ONES’ + ANNOUNCES LAUNCH SHOW AT THE LANSDOWNE

by the partae July 14, 2020
written by the partae

“Charlie knows how to make a compelling track AND how to wring the last drops of emotion out of it.” – Dave Ruby Howe
“Charlie Gradon’s talent is seemingly uncontainable.” – Life Without Andy

Sydney melancholic storyteller Charlie Gradon revels in nature in the video accompaniment to his latest release ‘Blurry Ones”. He’s also announced his first real life show post-Covid lockdown on August 1st at The Lansdowne Hotel.

The product of an unexpected family collaboration the video showcases Gradon sampling nature with his vintage tape recorder. On the cusp of lockdown and visiting cousins from overseas, the idea snowballed and was filmed in one shoot that afternoon. “It was quite eerie as lockdown was just about to kick in so there was no one around.” He continues “I think the clip serves as nostalgia of a simpler time where we could go outside and enjoy the simple things.”

Since its release ‘Blurry Ones’ has been welcomed by radio with rotation on Double J and FBi Radio. From his forthcoming sophomore EP, the track was written when Gradon bought his wife a vintage camera which took, as he describes, “basically useless blurry photographs”. Born in his bedroom studio, the track sounds just like the blurry images Gradon sings of – nostalgic and reflective indie-rock.

Earlier this year Gradon resurfaced with the mellow single ‘Grieving’ which found a home on radio, reaching #3 on the AMRAP Metro Radio Charts along with adds on FBi Radio, 2SER and EDGE.

The products of a challenging period of change, both singles offer a glimpse of Gradon’s introspective upcoming sophomore EP – out later this year – which the talented multi-instrumentalist wrote and performed on his own.

This omnibus follows on from 2018’s ‘Self Doubt’ which intrigued audiences and garnered on-air support from Double J and FBi Radio and had him named in The Music Writer’s Poll for ‘Song of the Year’. Echoing this praise, he was recently a finalist in Happy Mag’s Needle in the Hay competition out of 2000 entries, and named in Life Without Andy’s Next Big Things for 2020.

With the world in an extended period of reflection Charlie Gradon is here with the perfect soundtrack.
