Its unique sense of magic comes from a fusion of world-class music curation, a deep sense of unity with its stunning host island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, an inspirational artistic aesthetic and a commitment to luxury-driven comfort. Today SXM Festival has revealed its phase two lineup of globally renowned selectors for the March 11-15, 2020 edition.  It is with the constantly evolving taste of the international dance music community in mind that SXM Festival crafts its scene-leading musical offerings. The result is a mixing pot of industry titans and emerging acts sourced from all corners of the world with the united purpose of pushing the sounds of the underground to their absolute limit.  Staying true to its nature of finely curated music programming, phase two of SXM's carefully polished lineup includes forward-thinking electronic legend Bonobo, Spanish techno giants Audiofly, renowned house music legend Danny Tenaglia, international tastemaker John Acquaviva, Moroccan ambassador Amine K, Do Not Sit curator Behrouz, and Get Physical founder M.A.N.D.Y. The roster extends further with the addition of Parisian underground mainstay DJ W!LD, legendary progressive icon Hernan Cattaneo, and Cirque Du Soleil founder turned DJ marvel Guy Laliberté. Also gracing the coveted SXM stage will be Life and Death co-founder Thugfucker, French 4/4 kingpin OXIA, one-third of the [a:rpia:r] trio Raresh, Maya Records powerhouse Joeski, Ibiza party mastermind tINI, and live electronic-trio WhoMadeWho.  These acts will be joining an already standout list of performers, featuring leaders from all walks of the international house and techno industry. This melting pot of talent includes the likes of the inimitable Ricardo Villalobos, the spellbinding sonics of Bedouin, Music On! boss Marco Carola, and SXM favorites Chaim, Blond:Ish, Enzo Siragusa, and Sonja Moonear to name a few. The means by which these performances are spread across five days of peaks and valleys remains the true magic of the SXM Festival experience. Each set is thought of as part of an emotional odyssey taking travelers on a rhythmic journey through the natural beauty of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. Attendees may find themselves dancing on the idyllic shores of Happy Bay at sunset, partying at a premiere nightclub until dawn, then being swept away for a Boat Party at or a blissful sunrise soirée at Boho’s Beachclub. The ebb and flow of the event is what retains its uniqueness, with each bespoke performance just a quick trip away from luxury villas and world-class hotels in which to rest for the day ahead. Each aspect of the programming aims to build towards its infamous emotional crescendos like the exclusive clifftop Villa Party and iconic Sunday morning Sunrise over Happy Bay. More info on schedule flow and venues here: https://www.sxmfestival.com/venues Since the devastating impact on the island by a series of 2017 hurricanes, SXM Festival sought to further its devotion to the support of the local people of the island and the protection of the natural resources that make it one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Its famed stages and decor are crafted from natural materials sourced from the island itself, while its world-leading low-energy LED lighting design is powered by solar technology. In partnership with SXM mainstay artist Blond:ish’s organization BYE BYE PLASTIC, the event has committed to the near complete reduction of single use plastics in its bars and use of 100% biodegradable products across all its famed venues. In partnership with the Martinique non-profit organization Les Connections, SXM Festival’s waste management and recycling principles will continue to be a the forefront of the event’s infrastructure in a two-fold process to both its minimize environmental impact and educate fans in the hopes of integrating these principles into the wider, global community. Attendees will also continue to be treated to a convenient official-SXM Festival shuttle system that helps reduce carbon emissions.   Furthering this ethos, fans are encouraged to work alongside SXM artists in a series of activities including mid-event  beach cleanups as well as a pre-event garbage collection for local St Martin residendents. This year round partnership, The Get Up Clean Up! Lead by Mystraw Company and Dauphin Telecom offers local participants a chance to earn free tickets to the event, adding a truly multicultural attendee-base felt in few other global events.  In 2019 organizers, artists, and attendees bound together through the SXM Festival created Two Bunch Palms Foundation to donate school equipment and rebuilt recreation centers on the island. Further resources and involvement were supplied to SXM Doet, the largest volunteer program in Sint Maarten and the Dutch Kingdom, which sees thousands of participants giving  back across the island. This year these efforts will be furthered, offering festival-goers the chance to give back while in the midst of their five day journey throughout this culturally rich destination experience.  While these these cornerstones of showcasing the natural and cultural heritage of the island remain at the forefront of the SXM mantra, attendees will also be treated to an utmost sense of luxury that can be experienced at very few events around the world. VIP packages allow special access to the exclusive clifftop villa party, lounge areas, bars, and other onsite venue amenities. Artists performing on the Cherry stage on the night include Mannequin Death Squad, Siler Bite more TBA

Legendary comedian and Kimmy K’s new BFF Magda Szubanski (Kath & Kim, Fast Forward, Babe) has teamed up with Will Connolly aka “Eggboy” (anti-racism activist, philanthropist) to tackle the flow on effect that many face outside of the devastating losses of peoples homes. With the fund this dynamic duo have set up, they will be co-ordinating with foundations and charities such as Beyond Blue to make sure this “care chest” goes to the best places, where it is most needed. An agenda of letting people know that long after these fires have burnt out, we will still be here to support those who have suffered…

And when you’ve come the show at Cherry, be our guest to party ’til close (Thursday that’s ’til late, Friday and Saturday right through ’til 7AM!) for no extra charge. The new Cherry is located at 68 Little Collins Street. It might be the best rock n roll bar in town.

The Gurdies
Friday 10th January, 2am
(Technically Saturday Morning)

At our new address of 68 Little Collins Street (some may recall a bar called Pony?), Cherry is slightly different to our old basement… With two levels (you can grab a drink in our parlour bar or duck up to the bandroom) we’re going to have special 2AM shows going forward!

The Gurdies are coming in hot from the Mornington Peninsula, we can’t stress enough that if yo like the guitar thing, do not miss their brand of scuzzed up garage rock!

Now though this show is technically the Saturday morning, think of it like you’re still out from the night before…

The new Cherry is located at 68 Little Collins Street. It might be the best rock n roll joint in town…

Cherry Blues with Phil Para
Sunday 12th January, 5pm

Phil Para Band performing two (more?) sets live at Cherry!
Our weekly Cherry Blues is FREE ENTRY with doors from 5PM
Espresso Martinis for $10 all afternoon too!

This Sunday January 12th we’re welcoming Melbourne’s legendary guitar virtuoso Mr. Phil Para to Cherry.

Yes, if you’d heard the story Phil has recovered from his quadruple heart by-pass surgery and back tearin’ up stages. Have you joined us for a bevy at the new Cherry (68 Little Collins Street) yet? Phil delivers his unique fusion of blues, jazz and Latin groove influences with the type of sheer showmanship that has found this axeman become true folklore in our town.

Our weekly Cherry Blues is still FREE ENTRY with doors now from 5PM and supervised children are welcome to attend. We’re also offering table seating with a new snacks menu and wine list.

Starcrawler
Monday 13th January, 8pm

Starcrawler (USA) performing live on the Cherry stage!
Support: Smooch
Ticket entitles you to stay and party!

This Friday don’t miss Los Angeles based Starcrawler (USA) and their glammed up, punk’n’roll assault live at Cherry! Lead by the untamable stage presence of vocalist Arrow de Wilde, they’re headed down under on a colossal East Coast run supporting fellow Californian natives The Growlers.

The frequent reporting of their oft-visceral live show (at one South by South West appearance, de Wilde terrorized the room by spitting blood at photographers and slapping punters’ phones from their hands), appearance on Jools Holland and the exciting second album Devour You has us eagerly awaiting their Australian debut.

“Blending the sludgy, doom-laden riffs of Black Sabbath with the urgent pop-punk of The Runaways, the young LA band Starcrawler are a group whose entire DNA seems linked to the 1970’s” – The Guardian.

With admission to any ticketed show in our bandroom you’re welcome to stay until close and party. Cherry is now located at 68 Little Collins Street. It’s probably the best rock&roll joint in town.

Epic Pool Parties Return to Miami and announce Six Days of Events Including Official WMC Opening Party with Kings of House, Repopulate Mars, Amnesia,  Do Not Sleep and More The Kimpton EPIC Hotel, Miami https://theepicpoolparty.com https://www.facebook.com/theepicpoolparty/ The Epic Pool Parties were one of the most talked about events of the Winter Music Conference in Miami. After this game-changing debut in 2019 they return to The Kimpton EPIC Hotel bigger and better in 2020 for six days of carefully programmed parties. There will be one unmissable party each day of the Conference from Tuesday March 17th to Sunday, March 22nd. The first ones to be announced are the WMC Official Opening Party with the legendary Kings of House, aka Louie Vega and David Morales, as well as Amnesia Presents x Do Not Sleep on Wednesday March 18 and a special Repopulate Mars day-night party on Friday March 20th. Located in the heart of Downtown Miami, Kimpton EPIC Hotel is an urban hotel that exudes the beauty and essence of the city through unparalleled experiences and views of Biscayne Bay. The ultimate Miami getaway, Kimpton EPIC Hotel just got even better with the completion of a full redesign. On the heels of its 10th anniversary, extensive renovations of its guestrooms and suites, lobby and pool area were just debuted, setting the stage for the most EPIC WMC parties yet. The events will take place on the newly imagined 16th floor at the hotel’s pool deck overlooking the city, complete with palm trees, bars, and cabanas. It’s a venue like no other, complete with a world-class sound system ensuring every beat is as warm and clear as the skies above. These carefully curated parties feature the worlds best DJs, brands and labels and come from the accomplished team at Electric Ibiza, who run iconic events at the White Isle's most famous venues, from Amnesia to Ibiza Rocks, Café Mambo to Pacha and Space Ibiza. Here they work once more in partnership with Miami legend Jonathan Cowan, Square One and WMC. Last year, the likes of Kerri Chandler, Victor Calderone, MK, Defected, Do Not Sleep, Repopulate Mars and Claptone’s ‘The Masquerade’ all featured. Say Jonathan Cowan on this year's offerings: "After a few years hiatus from the Miami Music Week program, last year was a huge success. I feel the conference has really come back into its own these past few years and is back as an important part of the dance music calendar. 2020 Epic Week will be the best DJs and brands showcasing their talents with an amazing backdrop of downtown Miami, and with Ultra just a few blocks away, we sure are expecting another huge week of music." On March 17th the entire Winter Music Conference kicks off with the one and only Official Opening Party at The Epic, which also happens to fall on St Patrick's Day, and the headliners couldn't be more perfect: the Kings of House, aka Louie Vega and David Morales, have been there since day one, pioneering various forms of the genre from vocal and uplifting to more dark and driving. They have decades of knowledge and know how between them, vast arsenal of tunes to call upon to make sure the exact right beat plays at the exact right moment, and are sure to serve up a real masterclass to get this year's conference and series under way.  Next up on Wednesday March 18th is one of Ibiza's most iconic clubs, Amnesia, who team up with underground house party Do Not Sleep. As such you can expect the best in cutting edge  house, slick tech sounds and electric atmospheres from some of the scene's most essential and innovative talents. The party is in for a huge 2020 with a tour of Australia and New Zealand also planned, so expect them to pull out all the stops when they hit Miami.  On March 20th, Lee Foss's red hot Repopulate Mars label will bring its key talents to the Epic for an afternoon and early evening session of unrivalled house music. Last years show was a complete sell out with the label being known for its cosmic parties with extravagant production, fancy costumed characters and immersive performers. As well as releases from the main man Lee Foss, the label was a DJ Mag award winner in 2018 after boasting killer tunes from the likes of Latmum, Mason Maynard, Detlef and Solardo. Says Lee Foss, "Repopulate Mars will rip open the fabric of space and time to return to Miami Music Week to host their intergalactic pool party on Mars at the Kimpton EPIC Hotel on Friday March 20th. Expect a day of outer space hedonism that will have punk funk kids shedding clothes, aliens shedding skin and cyborgs getting down to an electrifying line-up of the best names in house and techno." These Epic Pool Parties will be just that, and promise to be the most talked about dances during the whole of the WMC 2020. The next three shows and full line-ups will come in the next few weeks.  ______________________ Tuesday March 17th at The Kimpton EPIC Hotel WMC Official Opening Party Kings of House, aka Louie Vega and David Morales Wednesday March 18th at The Kimpton EPIC Hotel Amnesia Presents x Do Not Sleep Friday March 20th at The Kimpton EPIC Hotel Repopulate Mars 12pm-11pm
