“It’s got depth, it’s got drive, it’s got some magic dust sprinkled on top” – Richard Kingsmill, triple j
“Remarkably triumphant” – Pilerats

“Matches the heavenly harmonies of Beach House, say, with a beatific electronic wash.” – Clash Magazine ‘Track of the Day
“Entrancing…” – NME Australia
Fresh from their sold-out shows in Sydney and Wollongong last week, Sydney-based dream-pop duo Micra reveal their dazzling new single ‘Coral Crush’.
Premiering yesterday on Pilerats, ‘Coral Crush’ combines Micra’s signature widescreen soundscapes with a fiery, anthemic chorus, and is certain to be a crowd-pleaser, as it sees the pair delving further into a pop realm. Arriving with a dreamy accompanying video, the track explores the complexities and disintegration of relationships. As the duo explains:
“Coral Crush follows a confrontation between two people and how they are influencing each other. Incompatibilities can slowly wear down a relationship over time. Once it comes time to confront it all the harder decisions are usually the healthier ones.
“We wanted to make something that felt more light-hearted and fun than what we have put out previously. It’s a little bit less laboured over, minimal and pop oriented.”
The complementing video was directed by Jessica Long and Harleigh English and was shot on Sydney’s northern beaches. The clip highlights the song’s pop sensibility and energy by providing a visual contrast of slow, distorted imagery dappled with hints of psychedelia.

‘Coral Crush’ follows on from the release of the band’s last single, ‘Under My Skin’. The hypnotic jam was Clash Music’s ‘Track of the Day’ and added to RUFUS DU SOL’s ‘Headphone Selections’ playlist. It also picked up profile across both Apple Music and Spotify. Previous singles have seen support from triple j and FBi Radio too.
Micra are a sonic experiment from Bulgarian born and raised singer/ guitarist Ivana Kafedjiyska and Australian guitarist/producer Robbie Cain. The duo recently performed two sold-out shows at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory and another at La La La’s in Wollongong. After wooing industry at last year’s BIGSOUND, Micra went on to perform alongside Tyler, The Creator and RÜFÜS DU SOL at Beyond The Valley. Earlier in the year, they supported Lime Cordiale on six sold out shows across Australia.
