MAMMALS releases ethereal clip for 'Mansion', filmed in New York

“Brings the vibes. Brings the smiles.”
– Richard Kingsmill, triple j

“it’s like a solo swim out to sea in a calm ocean. there’s still a pull to it but nothing sinister or strong, it makes you feel safe and at home.”
– Declan Byrne, triple j

“It’s a song that stops you in your tracks and effortlessly commands your attention”
–  Emma Jones, Purple Sneakers

Fresh off a premiere yesterday with Purple Sneakers, Mammals has today delivered an abstract and eerie music video for his recent single ‘Mansion’ – a deeply emotive track dedicated to exploring the intricacies of human existence.

Directed by Jordan Lister and filmed at The 1896 in New York, the video beautifully pairs a water-inspired colour palette within the sparse Brooklyn warehouse location. The track itself explores the feeling of “being totally consumed under oceans of powers we can’t control” and the feeling of being lost in a proverbial abyss is reflected back with the clever choreography and use of poly silk. Brooklyn Dancer Kai Paii acts almost as a figure of Guy (Mammals) memory, entangling herself within a moment in time.

Following its release, ‘Mansion’ has already proven a strong addition to Mammals’ catalogue, receiving a premiere on triple j’s Good Nights and landing on the likes of Spotify’s ‘New Dance Beats’ and Apple Music’s ‘New Music Daily’, ‘ALT CTRL’, ‘Future Sounds’ and Heaps Indie’.  It is only the latest in his long string of successes, including support slots on the Australian tours of The 1975 and Of Monsters and Men, and a collection of songs spanning over 12 million streams.

The year is still young for this impressive Mollymook local with more music to come and live shows on the horizon. For now, be immersed in ‘Mansion’ from your own mansion as you ponder humanity’s existence in these interesting times.
