#1 Dads, the solo project of Tom Iansek, have shared a new single and video, ‘Nothing Less’, the latest preview of his forthcoming fourth album Every Little Fire.
The album is set for release on 16 October via Pieater, with ‘Nothing Less’ following lead single ‘Already Something’.
‘Nothing Less’ moves into soft new wave territory, built around a riff Iansek originally wrote on a Juno 106 synthesiser in his former Melbourne studio. According to Iansek, the track was deliberately allowed to retain elements of its original demo, with several of the sounds from the initial recording making it onto the finished version.
The song forms part of an album created during a period of significant change for Iansek, including his move from Melbourne to London and becoming a father to two young children.
Iansek produced and mixed Every Little Fire himself across a series of small rooms, including a DIY bedroom studio. The album retains elements of the original recordings, including longer takes, tempo fluctuations and breaths.
The 12-track album is Iansek’s fourth release under the #1 Dads name, following Man Of Leisure (2011), About Face (2014) and Golden Repair (2020).
Iansek is also known for his work as one half of Big Scary with Jo Syme and as part of No Mono with Tom Snowdon. His production credits include work with Maple Glider, Kate Miller-Heidke, Lisa Mitchell, The Paper Kites, Ruby Gill, Asha Jefferies, Hockey Dad and Airling.
Following the release of Every Little Fire, Iansek will return to Australia for a 23-date solo tour across October and November. The tour will be his first Australian tour in six years and his first performance entirely alone under the #1 Dads name.
The tour includes dates across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, the ACT and Western Australia, with several shows already sold out and others listed as having limited tickets remaining.
