written by the partae

Belle and Sebastian have released Part 3 of the band’s new trilogy of EPs, How To Solve Our Human Problems via Matador / Remote Control.

Recently adding an Australian leg to their busy live schedule in 2018, the band will embark on a national tour throughout May playing Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Full details and ticket links can be found below.

The band concluded 2017 in festive fashion, with radio sessions for Lauren Laverne on 6 Music (listenHERE), Jo Whiley on Radio 2 (listen from 1:11:50 HERE), and BBC Radio Scotland’s The Quay Sessions, where they performed a special cover of The Waitresses’ ‘Christmas Wrapping’. Watch the performanceHERE.

Recalling their 1997 release of three consecutive EPs, How To Solve Our Human Problems, has the classic blend of joy and melancholy and idiosyncratic spirit that has always characterised Belle and Sebastian. A double album’s worth of music – richly melodic, deliciously literate, as gentle as a summer stream but as insistent as a river – How To Solve Our Human Problems is both an era of its own, and part of a long, rich history.

Swedish sensation Ängie releases ‘Dope’ video

by the partae February 21, 2018
written by the partae

Swedish star Ängie has released the video for her brand new single ‘Dope’. The new song is the lead single to be taken from her debut album Suicidal Since 1995 out on April 6th through Universal.

The no-holds-barred video sees the undisputed queen of Swedish trap-pop performing in a burlesque-flavoured manner amongst drugs, cars, dogs, cats and lovers of both sexes… amongst many other vices.

The new single features dark bass and rolling beats intertwined with a heady emotional flow, proving intoxicating and addictive in classic Ängie fashion. She explains, “‘Dope’ is actually a love song, confusing love with the rush for music and drugs. It’s a love song to music, dope and the person that makes me wanna fight for it.”

The ‘Dope’ release is accompanied by an exclusive t-shirt designed by Ängie, limited to a run of 150 pieces available soon through The Hyv. Each track on Suicidal Since 1995 will be accompanied by a limited-edition item of clothing especially designed by the singer. The album release is also marked by a limited edition Suicidal Since 1995 hoodie.

‘Dope’ is the first taste of Ängie’s debut album, which finds the Swedish singer on a darker and more emotive tip from the controversial pop that shot her to international fame. She burst onto the scene in 2016 and took the world by shock and awe with her debut single ‘Smoke Weed Eat Pussy’. The following singles ‘Housewife Spliffin’ and ‘Spun’ further cemented her status as one of the hottest names to come out of Sweden.

The songs have clocked up 6 million views on YouTube and Ängie has had unofficial fan clubs established across the world in locations as far flung as Brazil and Russia. She has received critical praise from the broadsheets, scandalised the tabloids and became an overnight internet sensation.

Suicidal Since 1995 showcases a new and ever-more intriguing side to Ängie, developing her sound in dark and unexpected ways that are sure to add to the huge acclaim she has received.

“Dismissing Ängie as another cookie-cutter pop star would not only be extremely patronising, it’d be foolish.” – Huck

“Forget Beyonce, we’ve found our favourite new pop diva” – The Sun

“An emblem of the liberal-minded revolution” – The Guardian

“Ängie may be the most controversial star we have ever seen” – Daily Star

“Ängie looks set to continue shaking up the pop sphere” – Wonderland

“The most provocative singer is back with a bang.” – Loaded

“The young Swede’s career is on a dizzying upward trajectory” – Red Bulletin

“We wouldn’t call her controversial, we’d just call her real.” – The 405

Announce debut album When I Think Of You In A Castle
Out Friday, April 20 on Pod via Inertia Music

“Sweet Tame Impala–esque psychedelic rock tunes…
Listen to their earworm-y [music].”

New York Magazine’s Vulture

Chicago neo-psych rock band Post Animal recently signed to Pod/Inertia Music and today have announced their incredible forthcoming debut album entitled When I Think Of You In A Castle. The product of six friends exploring their affinity for slick riffs, pop hooks, and psychedelic flourishes, When I Think Of You In A Castle is a record that almost didn’t get made. “Before this album, we weren’t sure what the future of the band was going to look like. I was considering moving to Los Angeles and Joe [Keery] was off filming Stranger Things. We didn’t know where we were all going but we knew we wanted to make an album with all of us in the same room,” explains drummer Wesley Toledo. When the band – comprised of friends from childhood, the local music scene, and hometown burger joints – found the time to go to a lake house in Michigan to record, magic happened and When I Think Of You In A Castle was born. The album will be released on Friday, April 20 on Pod via Inertia Music.

Post Animal have made a name for themselves as one of Chicago’s most exciting up-and-coming bands, having toured with the likes of Twin Peaks, Wavves, and White Reaper. To celebrate their debut album the band will embark on a headlining U.S. tour, including festival plays at Bonnaroo and Shaky Knees Festival, as well as nine shows at SxSW.

The album’s first single ‘Ralphie‘ finds guitarist Joe Keery and bassist Dalton Allison trading lead vocals. Though Post Animal’s live shows have long proven that swirling riffs are the band’s bread-and-butter, it’s earworms like this that show how easily they can churn out an infectious pop melody. Listen to the song now via Stereogum, and read Post Animal’s statement below about their friend and bandmate Joe Keery.

In early 2015, Joe joined our band and quickly became one of our best friends.
He’s played a vital role in Post Animal and the creation of every musical release
we’ve had or planned thus far, including his vocals and guitar work on ‘When I Think
Of You In A Castle’. It comes as no surprise that our incredibly talented Joe has found
success in other artistic endeavours, and for that reason he is no longer an active
touring member of Post Animal. We plan to create more magic with him in
the future as our fondness for musical collaboration remains strong.
On that note, we hope you enjoy “Ralphie,” and we are excited to share
more music with you in the coming months. With love and dedication,
Post Animal

Post Animal are a band of brothers. Though they formed in 2014 and just began touring in 2017, they are joined in a bond much tighter than their years suggest. Initially formed when childhood friends, bassist Dalton Allison and guitarist Matt Williams, met keyboardist and guitarist Jake Hirshland, the band’s sound began to take shape when the three enlisted some more pals from both the Chicago music scene and through their time working at local burger restaurants. Rounding out the band’s lineup, Post Animal is completed by drummer Wesley Toledo and guitarists Javi Reyes and Joe Keery.

Like most bands in Chicago’s inclusive music community, Post Animal got their start playing DIY basements and small rock clubs. With their wavy and warped first project, 2015’s Post Animal Perform The Most Curious Water Activities EP, and then 2016’s memorable singles collection, The Garden Series, the band showcased mesmerising and catchy pop melodies. Between their impressive early releases and their wild live shows which feature the band members sharing lead vocal duties, Post Animal have unquestionably solidified themselves as one of Chicago’s most exciting new acts.

In the summer of 2016, the band retreated to a lake house in Watervliet, Michigan to record When I Think Of You In A Castle. For a week and a half, they tracked the LP—all while realising they weren’t really alone in the house. According to the band, a ghost dwelled there that would jolt them awake from naps and even ended up with a guest appearance on the album. Of course, not all of the magic on When I Think Of You In A Castle can be pinned on the supernatural. Following the lake house trip, the band finished the album at their house in Chicago with Allison perfecting the mix over the next year; even while on their 48-city summer tour in their beloved van (RIP Shannon). The finished album, which was mastered by Jake’s brother, Jared Hirshland, is a truly collaborative continuation on the band’s kaleidoscopic and sprawling early beginnings.

But most importantly, When I Think Of You In A Castle is a testament to not only the brotherly connection that these friends share, but also to the power of collaboration between like-minded musicians who just get one another. “Before we recorded it, it was an uncertain time for us as a band, but we all just had a magical time at this lake house in the middle of summer,” explains Toledo. Almost impossible to describe, the Post Animal bond is best observed while foolin’ at the merch table after a sweaty show. They look forward to seeing you there and, naturally, becoming your new best friends.

EARLY PRAISE FOR POST ANIMAL

“happily fell into this Post Animal psych rock hole while
stalking and found it to be really, really great.”

i-D

“swirling sounds, which can be big and beefy when they
want to and all weird and twee, like something Syd Barrett’s
found at the bottom of the garden, the next…rather good.”

NME

“One of the city’s best psych-rock bands…think if Tame Impala listened
to a lot of Black Sabbath and were signed to Elephant 6.

English duo Dusky returns to Australia for five dates!

written by the partae

Tour Dates
Thursday 29th March: The Court, Perth
Friday 30th March: CBD Laneway Party, Melbourne
Saturday 31st March: Chinese Laundry, Sydney
Sunday 1st April: Rabbits Eats Lettuce Festival, Byron Bay
Sunday 1st April: The Met, Brisbane

Click here for a 4 hour Dusky mix recorded
at Warehouse Project!

Dusky are London born production/DJ duo Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman. After gaining recognition during the UK’s 2011 house renaissance with their breakthrough track ‘Flo Jam’, the duo have developed a reputation for classy, club-ready anthems ranging from their Beatport #1 ‘Careless’ to last year’s classic house homage ‘Square Miso’.

2016 saw them cement their reputation as a cult production force with their expansive and well received ‘Outer’ LP. Described by Popmatters as ‘one of the best records of any genre of the year so far‘, it included the sample-heavy, electronica mutation ‘Ingrid Is A Hybrid’, and the techno/grime fusion of Wiley collaboration ‘Sort It Out Sharon’. In the 18 months since, the pair have returned to their club-ready sound with the Gerd Janson-approved ‘Cold Heart‘, the swampy beats of ‘Buckets‘, and the classic NYC House sounds of ‘Square Miso‘.

As label owners, their 17 Steps imprint has released forward thinking house and techno from the likes of Bwana, Velvit, Trevino and Christian Piers. Next up on 17 Steps is the big room techno sounds of Sheffield’s Hope Works resident, Lo Shea.

Listen to the new 17 Steps single here:
Lo Shea – Iterations

Equally loved for their considered, well sourced DJ sets, the duo have toured extensively since 2011 playing prestigious venues such as London’s Fabric, Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Ibiza’s DC10, as well as festival stages across the world. Forward to today and Dusky are known for their diverse, inimitable sound that draws on everything from hardcore and Detroit techno to ambient, progressive house, jazz, and other more experimental musical forms.

They are easily one of the most in-demand electronic music acts on the planet.

JARROW shares new single + video for ‘Kelp’

written by the partae

Expensive Hugs out March 16 – Melbourne residency at Evelyn this month!

Jarrow has today premiered a new clip for ‘Kelp’ via Grain Zine. The exultant garage-rocker comes from his anticipated album Expensive Hugs due Friday 16 March and available now for pre-order.

As the opening track off Expensive Hugs, ‘Kelp’ perfectly sets the tone for Jarrow’s weird and wonderful second album. Hooks, yelps and a dynamic lead-guitar adorn his compelling turn of phrase as it battles to break free of the songs perfect garage pop structure.

‘Kelp’ is accompanied by an incredible experimental clip using software that links a dozen iPhones together to record simultaneously. As Dan (the mastermind behind Jarrow) explains, “I was approached by director Mike Plumridge who came up with the idea of filming a band in 360 degrees while they shredded to their hearts content. As a massive fan of The Matrix I just couldn’t help but say yes.” He goes on to say “To make this recipe you will need: 16 smartphones, a warehouse in Collingwood, a bike, a smoke machine, my friend Travis, a game of Scrabble and a cardboard cutout of yours truly. Mix it all together and you got a tasty dish indeed.”

Listen/share ‘Kelp’: https://Jarrow.lnk.to/expensivehugsPR

Jarrow is Footscray’s favourite self-taught, self-produced, garage-pop multi-instrumentalist.  Drawing inspiration equally from 21st century meme culture and classic 90’s indie-rock, Expensive Hugs is an immensely enjoyable dash through Jarrow’s world of pop-hooks, weird soundscapes and riff-jams.

Available for a limited time on translucent purple splatter vinyl, you can pre-order it on all formats here:https://Jarrow.lnk.to/expensivehugsPR

Jarrow is also half way through his Wednesday night residency at the Evelyn Hotel. He has self curated an incredible all-star line up including visual artists each week. For all those in Melbourne – don’t miss these last 2 weeks!

HENRY GREEN

by the partae February 20, 2018
written by the partae

Ahead of his debut album release on March 30th via Akira Records, Bristol-based electronic artist Henry Green has shared two new tracks from the album. “Without You“ & “Shift” are streaming online now.

Henry spoke about the two tracks, explaining the meanings behind them. “‘Without You’ is about being completely absorbed by someone, that hazy feeling of being so enveloped in the present, that you just neglect any external distractions. The track was created at home in Bristol, but heavily inspired by a trip to Paris”

Speaking about “Shift” he said “It’s all about movement. The whole album is based around this theme, but none more so than this track. It felt like a very natural theme to explore and one that I constantly gravitated towards when writing lyrics or describing the evolution of a track. Lyrically, ’Shift’ refers to the sensation of falling, unaware of when you’ll reach an end but enjoying the loss of control and feeling of weightlessness.”

Listen to & “Shift” & “Without You” here:

Wander the riverbank of Berlin’s Köpenicker Chaussee for long enough, and you’ll find a grand cold war nuclear facility, or what looks like one. It was here, at the beautiful, eerie Funkhaus – actually a radio broadcast site built in the 1950s – that rising Bristol electronic artist Henry Green wrote part of his new album.

The main theme of the album for Henry Green is movement.  He explains “We’re constantly moving in some manner, at some pace… whether its physically or emotionally. This year was all about progression and change for me, so I found myself constantly gravitating towards that idea of movement in my lyrics. ‘Shift‘ was a word that just kept reappearing when writing the tracks, whether I was describing the structures of the tracks, the instrumentation/arrangement and obviously, the lyrics. I wanted to exhibit a feeling of constant movement in the album and that idea that every element is constantly shifting, but at a variety of paces.”

The result is a sound both subtle and cinematic that combines intimate, confessional songwriting with an obsession with electronics that has built in him since age 16. ‘Shift’ is laden with delicate, complex electronic sounds that show a maturity far beyond Green’s age of 22.

“I’m inspired by the production of artists like Four Tet, Mount Kimbie and Bonobo. I love the collision of acoustic and synthetic sounds in music, completely contrasting elements that somehow work in harmony,” says Green. “I’m also a huge fan of Jon Hopkins, Ólafur Arnalds, and Nils Frahm (“my dream collaborator”). The use of space in their music is so powerful; each sound somehow isolated, unobscured and left to be appreciated.” It’s a different artist he’s most associated with, though – Norwegian production megastar Kygo, who in 2013 remixed Green’s cover of MGMT hit ‘Electric Feel’ to the tune of 10m SoundCloud streams.

Green has two cult adored EPs, over 8m Spotify streams and shows with London Grammar and Nick Mulvey to his name. With his debut album ‘Shift’, set for release on March 30th, recorded in both Bristol & Berlin and co-produced by Nico Rebscher and mixed by Jack Shuter, he’s continuing to push the boundaries of his sound, drifting further away from the guitar that formed the epicentre of his early songs and leaning heavier icy synth shimmers. “I’ve become obsessed with the idea of creating atmosphere. As I learnt more about production,” he explains, “I found it easier to translate my ideas and find new ways to create the sounds that would reflect my lyrical style.”

Henry Green will tour later this year with a headline London show already announced for Corsica Studios on 3rd May. More live dates will be announced soon.

‘Shift‘ tracklist:

2. Aiir
3. Shift (stream)
4. Another Light (stream)
5. Stay Here (stream)

7. Without You (stream)

Harry James Angus

by the partae February 20, 2018
written by the partae

The long-awaited album from the show Struggle With Glory by Australia’s premiere jazz chameleon Harry James Angus will be released on March 1st, 2018. A re-imagining of classic tales from Greek mythology set to a sublime reduction of gospel, jazz and soul, Struggle With Glory is another impressive step in an extraordinary musical journey for the Melbourne-born, Mullumbimby based musician.

Ahead of the album release the brand new single “Paper Faces” has just been issued and is another tantalising taste of what is to come.  “I was drawn to Greek mythology because the myths are such great stories,” Harry explains. “Paper Faces is the story of Persephone and Hades. Persephone was the daughter of the goddess of the harvest, and she was kidnapped to become Hades bride.”

Having lapped the country in 2017 with Parlour Gigs playing intimate shows in people’s lounge-rooms to introduce his closest fans to the concept. Harry is now set to upscale the show to its full incarnation.  To commemorate the album release, The Cat Empire co-front man will take his 10 piece big band, featuring some of the country’s most acclaimed jazz soloists on the road for a number of special, one-off festival show appearances throughout March including Perth Festival, Adelaide Festival and The Peninsula Picnic with more large scale shows to be announced shortly.

Harry James Angus has come far from the fresh-faced, but committed teen taking his first tentative steps on the path to jazz. Finding critical and commercial success on stages and charts across the globe with Australia’s beloved The Cat Empire, the jazz disciple, trumpeter and sublime vocalist has succeeded in branching out with a number of acclaimed projects of his own.

Exploring deep within and far outside the realms of the genre which he is enamoured, Struggle With Glory signifies an important chapter in the artist’s development and a step closer to realising his ideal musical vision.

Struggle With Glory physical pre-orders are available from the 14th till the 23rd of February. For pre-orders visit: www.vitamin.net.au

WYE OAK share striking new video for album title track “The Louder I Call The Faster It Runs”. New album out April 6th via Merge & UK dates in May

by the partae February 20, 2018
written by the partae

Last month, Wye Oak shared the title track from their hotly anticipated new album ‘The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs’, out April 6 via Merge worldwide. Today, they debut an accompanying music video, shot in the startling desert landscape of New Mexico’s White Sands National Monument by Dan Huiting.

The band sums it up best: “We went to the desert. It might seem hot, but it was actually cold. What is the point of all this? You’ll never outrun yourself. The past is always at your heels.”

Watch the video for “The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs”

For ‘The Louder…’, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack flew to one another’s cities—she in Durham, North Carolina, he in Marfa, Texas—for a week or so at a time, hunkering in home studios to sort through and combine their separate song sketches. These shorter stints together produced less second-guessing and hesitation in their process, yielding an unabashed and unapologetic Wye Oak. They discarded past rules about how to write a record, instead funneling all those experiences and experiments into perfectly unified statements.

The result is some of the biggest, broadest and boldest music Wye Oak has ever made. ‘The Louder…’ pursues a litany of modern malaises, each of its dozen tracks diligently addressing a new conflict and pinning it against walls of sound, with the song’s subject and shape inextricably and ingeniously linked. It arrives at a time of immense doubt, when our personal problems are infinitely compounded by a world that seems in existential peril. But these songs answer the challenge by radiating self-reflection and resolve, wielding hooks and musical intricacy as a shield against the madness of the moment.

‘The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs’ will be out worldwide on April 6; pre-orders are available today on CD and “sand & sky” (opaque beige & translucent blue) Peak Vinyl in the Merge store with an optional exclusive t-shirt bundle. The album is also available to pre-order via these participating independent record shops or from these digital providers.

Jye Whiteman With His Enthralling Vocal Range And Electro-Acoustic Sensibilities Releases Striking Single ‘Do Ya Wanna?’ Out Now!

by the partae February 20, 2018
written by the partae

With an enthralling falsetto range, ethereal tone, alluring rhythms and his wild, go-getter nature, Jye Whiteman — who is releasing his new single ‘Do Ya Wanna?’ Out Now! [stream here] — is a Brisbane raised electro-acoustic singer-songwriter who has lived and performed across the UK, Europe and Australia and is now, for the time being, living and performing his music all along the West-coast of Australia.

Wearing his heart on his sleeve, ‘Do Ya Wanna?’ explores the integrity of the beginning of a relationship, one that isn’t just surface layer attraction and infatuation – something Jye has felt he has come across all too often, especially once he began travelling and touring overseas.

The new single showcases his eclectic taste and electro-pop-folk sensibilities in both song-writing and production. He manages to incorporate the heart-throbbing, uplifting beat of an electro-pop track with big delays, synths and drum samples, the indie-rock/ funk vibe with fitting electric guitar parts, fast-paced verses of hip-hop blended with his slow and acutely passionate heavy-hearted vocal tone.

Jye released his debut EP ‘Distance’ in 2015 that showcased this vocal ability and his electro-acoustic style and although this is his first release since 2016, he has been developing himself, his songwriting and has been in practice performing non-stop to reach this pinnacle that is exhibited in ‘Do Ya Wanna?’.

To provide only a glimpse of his hard efforts, whilst living in the UK in 2015 Jye played at a slew of festivals including The Great Escape; Together The People; 110 Above; and Fyne Fest. Amongst those festivals, Jye was billed alongside acts such as Jose Gonzalez, The Rubens and Jake Bugg.

Once Jye returned to Australia he set out on a huge endeavour – to circumnavigate the continent on his push bike while playing shows in the towns and cities he passed.

Initially this 14,000km trip that took 6 months to complete was a personal challenge, however, it became a unique touring opportunity for him that allowed him to spread the word and raise funds for the Australian Marine Conservation. To have completed such trip is indeed a huge testament to Jye’s ability to dedicate himself to his life goals.

Later, in May 2017, he hit the road with friend and fellow musician Lyall Moloney on the ‘Get Up’ tour where he was able to reach a brand new audience.

Now, the release of ‘Do Ya Wanna?’ is a definitive step for Jye Whiteman, his music and this year ahead of him. More information about these plans is to be announced in the first quarter of 2018.

About ‘Do Ya Wanna?’
Written and Performed by Jye Whiteman.
Guitar by Tim Pierce (Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf).
Recorded and Mixed by Oscar Neidhardt and James Angus.
Mastered by Ryan Morey (Arcade Fire, Halfmoon Run).

DMA’S Announce June ‘For Now’ National Album Tour – Their Biggest Tour To Date

by the partae February 20, 2018
written by the partae
Sydney’s timeless guitar pop trio DMA’S have followed up the recent success of new single ’In The Air’ with the announcement of a huge national tour to support the release of their sophomore record, For Now, out worldwide on Friday 27 April via I OH YOU.

As they take in the biggest tour of their career to date, the band will hit the Tivoli in Brisbane, Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre, Fremantle’s Metropolis, Forum Melbourne and the Enmore Theatre in Sydney for shows that will further cement their status as one of Australia’s best live acts, as well as launching the much-anticipated For Now into the stratosphere.

Since the release of their widely acclaimed debut album Hills End, DMA’S have toured non-stop, playing just shy of 200 live shows. They’ve headlined sold out tours globally and played all the major festivals around the world including Coachella, Glastonbury, Splendour In The Grass, Lollapalooza, Laneway and Fuji Rock Festival – to name a few.

Locally, Hills End debuted at #8 on the ARIA Album Chart and earned the band a 2016 ARIA nomination for Best Breakthrough Artist. Singles including ‘Delete’ (certified Gold in Australia), ‘Lay Down’, ‘Too Soon’ and ‘Step Up The Morphine’ adorned the band with countless praise the world over. In the same year, DMA’S covered Cher’s classic ‘Believe’for triple j’s Like A Version – the cover becoming the most streamed Like A Version to date and taking out the #6 spot on the 2016 Hottest 100; making it the highest ever position for a Like A Version on the countdown.

Not ones to sit on their laurels, DMA’S wasted no time in following up the success of their debut with recent single ’Dawning’, a track that has now been streamed over 1.5 million times and popped up in this year’s Hottest 100 – their fourth consecutive year in the countdown. Recorded between The Lady Hampshire in Sydney’s inner west and The Grove Studio with producer Kim Moyes (of The Presets), the track has combined with ‘In The Air’ to provide a tantalising taste of their new album For Now.

DMA’S will be ably supported on this tour by Brisbane indie-pop star Hatchie, who’s first two breakout singles ‘Try’ and ‘Sure’ have pricked up ears throughout the world.

Fans eager to get their hands on early tickets can sign up for access to the Secret Sounds presale which runs from 9am local time Thursday 22 February to 8am local time Friday 23 February. Tickets for the General Public will go on sale at 9am local time Friday 23 February.

‘Where DMA’s truly succeed… is in forging an emotional connection with their audience, finding beauty in the mundane and occasionally making you feel like you can take on the world.’ – Sydney Morning Herald

‘Whether it be their raucous choruses, or stripping it back to just an acoustic guitar and singing, a DMA’s live show is something that needs to be seen to be believed.’
– Beat

‘There is much to savour…’ – Q

‘…the euphoria they evoke at this packed show is undeniably special.’ – NME

RedFaces UK Tour Dates / Festival Appearances

by the partae February 19, 2018

ON UK HEADLINE TOUR NOW

Y NOT, TRAMLINES & LIVERPOOOL SOUND CITY FESTIVAL APPEARANCES ANNOUNCED

“Another brilliant band from Sheffield” – HUW STEPHENS

“These are songs built to stand out on large festival stages” – GIGSLUTZ

“Fuzzed out psychedelia matched to crunching rock riffs, the faint traces of Britpop in RedFaces’ sound makes for something extremely addictive” – CLASH

Sheffield’s RedFaces are currently on a headline UK tour – continuing tonight in Coverntry.

Chosen by NME as one of their essential picks for 2018, the year is already shaping up to be a busy one for the band. Previous single ‘Take It Or Leave It’ was chosen as BBC Radio 1’s ‘Introducing Track Of The Week’ and MTV chose them as a ‘One To Watch’ for this year.

RedFaces are no strangers to the festival circuit. After storming performances at Community, Live at Leeds, The Great Escape, Dot to Dot, Isle of Wight, TRNSMT and Kendall Calling last summer, as well as support slots with DMA’s and a sold-out hometown show at Sheffield’s Plug, the band will tour the UK throughout February (dates below).

RedFaces are Harry Lyon, Isaac White, Charlie Yapp and Ryan Laycock. Four lads from Sheffield treading what was once a well-worn path, these days the road less travelled. The journey started at 2Fly studios in Sheffield, recording demos with Alan Smyth. Taking their influences from the 50s and 60s right through to today, by way of The Beatles, Hendrix, The Smiths and The Strokes. A brand-new single is due to be announced soon.

JEREMY NEALE Shares new clip for ‘Video’ Album tour this March Announces Adelaide show

by the partae February 19, 2018
written by the partae
PRAISE FOR GETTING THE TEAM BACK TOGETHER

“It’s no wonder so many people want to join his team” – The Courier Mail

“Spin it twice and you’ll be hooked” – The Australian

“Taking slick classic sounds from the 1960s to the 1980s and putting his particular retro-modern take.” – The Age

“It’s Neale’s idiosyncratic style that shines through, everything liberally slathered in pop hooks, gang harmonies and earworm melodies.” – The Music ★★★★

“The knockabout charisma of Jeremy Neale informs every nook of this impressively self-assured solo debut, his tilt at the title of Australia’s foremost wonky indie pop impresario backed by an album brimming with power pop and hooks.” – Rolling Stone ★★★★

“If Jeremy Neale is the Prince of Brisbane, Getting The Team Back Together is his royal decree. It demonstrates not just growth but the mastery of his sound, a sound of pop, love and just unrestrained fun.” – 4ZZZ

Jeremy Neale has today premiered a new clip for ‘Video‘ via The Music. The track comes from his acclaimed debut album Getting The Team Back Together out now via Dot Dash / Remote Control.Catch Jeremy launch the album on his national tour this March with a new Adelaide date just added! Full tour details and ticket links below.

Jeremy described the clip to The Music: “Outside of astral projection – the most accessible way to get a break from the day-to-day grind is to go for a drive or watch TV. Through the magic of special effects and access to a boutique range of vehicles (Thanks, T-Rax!) we have managed to combine the two.”

This is likely to be Jeremy’s only tour in 2018 as he will travel to New York City for 3 months in 2018 to focus on songwriting as the recipient of the prestigious Grant McLennan Fellowship.

His debut LP, released last November, is a collection of tracks assembled during a period of self-analysis – a record of unassailable power pop that documents growth, love and the eternal pursuit of happiness.Getting The Team Back Together touches on all manner of concepts surrounding identity and self-care. Whether it’s building confidence in social situations without the aid of alcohol in ‘Small Talk’, putting the needs of others above your own in ‘Video’, or facing up to the fact that one’s battle with mental illness could be a lifelong struggle in ‘All My Life’, Jeremy has stripped himself down to his most vulnerable state.
