On Friday, Los Angeles punk rock band Sharp/Shock dropped their new single Endless Holiday. The new single was written, recorded and mixed by singer/guitarist Davey Warsop and mastered by Paul Miner (New Found Glory, Thrice).
Endless Holiday is available now on all digital platforms as well as a limited edition split 7″ with legendary Australian punk rock band Bodyjar released via Half Way Records.

As the band name suggests Sharp/Shock deliver punk rock direct and to the point. That’s exactly what the band have achieved with their new sing along anthem Endless Holiday.
Musically, it is exactly what you might expect from kids schooled early on The Jam and Stiff Little Fingers would sound like. Then, submerse that in the sun drenched beach cities of Southern Californian surf, skate and punk culture and the sounds of Social Distortion, The Descendents or early Green Day and you will find Sharp/Shock.
“I hopped the pond to LA from Birmingham England several years ago as the result of a record deal. After spending so much of my youth and young adulthood in soul-destroying jobs in a blue collar town in England, I basically feel like I’ve won the lottery because I now know what it’s like to live in a “destination” like LA.
So Endless Holiday Is about escapism… Just DREAMING of a more exciting existence than that slightly crappy mundane one that’s handed to so many of us. I was trying to write a song that could tap into that yearning I felt as a kid in England, to just get away from it all and start actually writing my life story!” – singer / guitarist Davey Warsop.

Toronto, ON – Canadian singer-songwriter Jordan Hart will release his debut EP ‘’Only Pieces of the Truth’’ on March 12th via Believe. On the self-produced EP, Hart exposes the desire we all share to feel connected to ourselves and each other. Through each song, he explores the highs and the lows of finding that connection in spite of our own selfish motives and pride.
The title track, ‘’Only Pieces of the Truth’’ is an emotive, mid paced and gentle song with gloriously sweeping arrangements. ‘’The central character realizes that all he wants to do is be vulnerable and that he is “holding all the cards, wishing you could see inside his walls,’’ said Hart. ‘’But even still, and especially because the stakes are so high, he can’t bring himself to take the first steps forward toward repairing the relationship (“staring at your door, I’ll never knock”).’’
The Gold-certified, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist worked with countless producers and arrangers over the years. Despite those incredible opportunities, no pieces of music truly felt like his sound. Hart was still looking for what would be his musical identity when he met the AllPoints team. Through his multiple conversations with his new creative team, he was advised to begin with a self-produced body of work. After 6 months of blood sweat and tears, Hart pieced together all the parts of himself and finally his sound. The experience birthed his new EP ‘’Only Pieces of the Truth’’.
In 2019, Hart embarked on a 100-day straight busking challenge in Toronto, through thunderstorms and snowstorms he played on. Every Sunday, 100 per cent of the money he raised was donated to L’Arche Canada, an organization that helps create communities that support people with intellectual disabilities. Since then, he has secured a record deal with Believe and AllPoints (based out of the UK). The momentum from his daily busking also culminated in a sold-out show at the Great Hall in Toronto and his career streams also increased by over a quarter of a million. As a featured artist, his work with Lucky Rose on the song ‘’Lost’’ has accumulated over 15 million streams across all platforms and the track was top 30 at Canadian CHR radio. He is currently putting the finishing touches on his debut EP, due out next month.
“I never learned how to love more purely and profoundly than through people with intellectual disabilities,” said Hart.
‘’Freedom’’ is delicate, sincere and heartbreaking. Hart sings about seeking freedom from past mistakes and maybe find a little bit of comfort. ‘’Of all of the songs on the EP, this one feels the most vulnerable to me,’’ said Hart. ‘’I am so honoured that L’Arche has chosen to use this song as an anthem to help tell the story of people with intellectual disabilities who are searching for their own freedom. These are people who are highly capable, emotionally intelligent and infinitely valuable who are often cast aside or worse, restricted from living their own free lives due to some people’s fear and lack of understanding. I hope this song will offer a window into these lives, at least enough to open the heart of others and inspire them to view these individuals with as much openness and kindness as they would to anyone else.’’
The influence of the folk music community that Hart grew up in, is still very present in his songs where the singer-songwriter thrives to respect the power of an honest story told through a simple song.
Award-winning mental health music charity Listen Up Music will host 12 artists during a day festival at Brisbane’s West Room on the 10th of April.

Spending his time between Geneva and Cannes, the house, which used to belong to his great-grandfather Pablo, is an exceptional place of inspiration for Florian who produces most of his music there. For this occasion only, the room was transformed back to its original state to resemble what it used to look like when Pablo was working there, filled with paintings, sketches, and sculptures. During Florian’s set, artist and graffiti pioneer Cyril Kongo brought a sensational extra dimension to the show by painting several artworks beside him. To make the show even more memorable, Kongo painted a CDJ 3000 donated by Pioneer DJ, creating a one of a kind piece.
“It was such a blessing to be able to serve a good cause and give back to my roots by combining music and art” says Florian.
Both being of Vietnamese origin, the two artists decided to auction all the pieces Cyril created during this special show and to donate all the proceeds to an orphanage in Vietnam. This was made possible in collaboration with Maria Bravo and Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Foundation.

Arts Centre Melbourne is excited to announce that the break-out musical FANGIRLS, from award-winning playwright Yve Blake will make its Melbourne debut at the Playhouse Theatre from 28 April – 9 May as a part of a national tour.
This energetic musical will be showing in Melbourne for the first time following sell-out crowds for Belvoir’s season at the Seymour Centre.
“We’ve been dreaming of coming to Melbourne for years. When we premiered in 2019, some industrious teens started a petition to bring the show to Melbourne and I’m so happy that we can finally deliver on that wish,” says the creator of FANGIRLS – Yve Blake.
“Even though this show is called FANGIRLS, it’s not just about fans or girls. It’s a show for anyone that has felt the sweet torture of a first crush, or who knows what it’s like to be obsessed with something that isn’t ‘cool’.”
The prolonged intermission between shows at the Playhouse Theatre will add an extra element to this performance, mirroring the excitement around the show as Arts Centre Melbourne create offerings for audiences to embrace the arts once again.
“It’s incredible to have FANGIRLS as a part of our re-opening of the Theatres Building at Arts Centre Melbourne. FANGIRLS follows the uproarious story of Edna, a plucky misfit scholarship girl who believes that she alone can win the heart of the world’s biggest pop star: Harry. Sure, he has 38 million other fans, but for Edna, that’s merely a hurdle. Because there’s nothing she won’t do to prove to Harry that she’s the one.
With a dazzling cast including AYDAN from The Voice, Danielle Barnes, Chika Ikogwe, Shubshri Kandiah, Ayesha Madon, James Majoos, Karis Oka, Tomáš Kantor and Shannen Alyce Quan, this critically acclaimed show is captivating and will leave you wanting more.
This show is founded in Blake’s fascination for the way that society can see a mob of screaming fans as “embarrassing” if they’re female and at a pop concert, but “passionate” if they’re male and at a footy match. She set out to write the show she wished her 14-year-old self could have seen: a comedy all about the ways that the world tries to convince young women that they’re not as worthy as their brothers.
“The response from audiences so far has been unreal. I’m so shook by all the fan art, the memes, and the crafts! I’ve seen people bring handmade signs like it’s a pop concert, and even make custom jewellery,” says Blake.
“People should see this show because it’s a love letter to the awkward teenagers that we have all been, and also it’s the perfect antidote to 2020. This show was designed to feel and sound like a thrilling pop concert, and after a year of no concerts, it really does hit differently.”
Yve Blake is a decorated performer and playwright, awarded with the Inaugural Rebel Wilson Theatre Maker Scholarship (2016) and has been widely recognised for FANGIRLS with the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Mainstage Musical (2019), Matilda Award for Best Musical or Cabaret (2019) and AWQGI AWARD for Music Theatre (2020).

The new single follows on from 2020 releases ‘UR Dumb’, ‘Hmmm’ and ‘Weight in Water’, all which received national and global attention from the likes of Spotify, triple j, triple j Unearthed (full rotation) and notable music publications Tonedeaf, Purple Sneakers, Musicfeeds and The Music.
ABOUT VIGOR
An exciting exploration of the bounds of pop as a genre, ‘Vigor’ is about the act of responding to another person’s vitality. In Jiordy’s own words:
“Vigor is about feeding off someone else’s life-force; the kind that takes you to a heightened level. It’s an ode to the inner fire that I believe we all possess, the kind that is ignited when we surround ourselves with people who make us feel elevated and alive”.
Staying true to her signature ethereal sound and evocative visuals, ‘Vigor’ explores themes of energy, movement and growth, elements that are visually showcased through both the musical composition and aesthetic intricacies of the accompanying visuals.
Lyrically, ‘Vigor’ was inspired by a poem of the same name that Jiordy penned at the end of 2020, reflective of her inner growth as an artist and creator. In Jiordy’s own words:
“The slow pace of 2020 was a particularly grounding period for me, which facilitated a new sense of growth and evolution for both myself as an artist and as a human being. This sentiment led me to write a poem, which I titled Vigor, that felt reflective of the time. When I got back into the studio with my producer this year, we started to play around with different elements of sound anchored by a drum beat that was slowed down to a point where it almost flickered, like energy itself. I realised then how seamlessly the poem Vigor slotted into the instrumental track we had created.”
Sonically, the shape-shifting track features atmospheric, glistening synths, hypnotic vocals and a robust drum loop that drives the song forward. Building to a climactic outro with a dance beat to match, layered synths usher the track to its intoxicating conclusion.
‘Vigor’ also features the muffled sounds of children playing, an element inspired by Jiordy’s living proximity to a primary school and the buoyant echoes of children in the schoolyard that resonate through her home:
“The boundless energy and lightness that children inherently possess was of significant inspiration to this track and has been incorporated through experimental soundbites woven throughout the instrumental component of the song” – Jiordy.
‘Vigor’, will be available on all major streaming platforms on February 23rd.

After announcing they will be hitting the road for a national tour in March & April 2022, and releasing their single ‘99 Ways’ on February 12, Indie rock icons Eskimo Joe unveil their new video for ‘99 Ways’ today.
Talking about the inspiration for the new video, the band says
“With the 99 Ways video, we wanted to convey an experience of what we all went through during lockdown; the internet became our universe, and the only way most people were able to communicate with each other was through messaging and social media. It was bittersweet… we were so lucky to be able to communicate, but not being able to see or touch our loved ones was incredibly frustrating.”
Directed by Kendra Fewster, the ‘99 Ways’ video was filmed in WA and has been created to watch on a phone in portrait format and best viewed using the YouTube phone app.
Kendra Fewster further adding, “Centralising around the feeling of longing for your significant other, Eskimo Joe’s new single “99 Ways” music video is based on their conversations through their phone screens. Unable to be in the same state, the two try to keep their connection strong. Having absolutely no option but to wait out their time apart, we watch their craving to be in each other’s company.”
The ‘99 Ways’ video has a personal connection to Kav Temperley as his wife is the protagonist in the clip, Kav saying “We made the video with Kendra Fewster who is a mate of Joel’s. It involved sending a bunch of very personal photos to Kendra, and then informing my wife that our story was going to be the subject of the video clip with her as the star. The result is engaging and no matter how many times I watch it, I can’t help but read every line that is typed up on the screen. We’re so thankful to Kendra for doing such a wonderful job and treating my personal world with a huge amount of respect.”

Rising singer/songwriter TIËRNY is a Gothic alt-pop poet belonging to a new wave of super talented multi genre UK artists. Her self described ‘Baroquetronica is an amalgamation of modern sensibilities, and classical undertones with a love of literature laced in every lyric.
New release LONELY ARE THE BRAVE, is a stunning symphony of strings, melodic chords and ambient choral harmonies, her unique tone serving as a vehicle for her words, which explore themes of isolation, addictions, love, loss and finding faith in yourself.
The accompanying visuals are a result of her current partnership with JAMESON & SOFAR as part of their SEEN & HEARD initiative. Depicting a story of self discovery in an avant-garde, quasi religious setting, culminating in a series of vignettes portraying the events that inspired the song.

Where are you currently based?
On the Northern Beaches of Sydney!
How did you first start playing music?
I played piano as a kid then moved on to guitar. I loved hip-hop from a young age and have been writing poetry since like age 4. All of these things fused together into writing my own music and ultimately leading me to where I am today.
What’s been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been so far?
I’ve been super focussed on my EP for the last year. My covid experience has been pretty good to be honest other than the painstaking lack of live music. I live with my girlfriend so we got to spend heaps of time together and I had more time to work on writing and conceptualising new music. I spent a lot of the year plotting how to manoeuvre myself into new territory as a more multifaceted artist with a string of electronic releases in between my solo projects.
Your new EP ‘Vision’ will be out on February 19, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
I’ve been listening to a lot of Roddy Ricch which I think has probably reshaped the way I hear melodies in hip-hop music. There’s a jazz/soul inflection in his cadence that fuses beautifully with trap music. Other than that I think artists like Denzel Curry helped influence tracks like Poltergeist.
How and when did you write Vision?
It happened gradually over more than a year. I wrote most of the songs individually before realising the overarching theme and rewriting elements of them to piece the project together. Writing them is the easy part though! I spend a very long time meticulously analysing the mixes and revising them so they hit just right.
Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?
I have a big group of people who I work with to make my music. Daniel Natoli was the recording engineer for the majority of the project. We have developed a great working relationship and have been smashing out tracks at Kiln Studios. There were a number of different producers and engineers involved in the project but Muller Made, Ollie Roland, Steven Petridis (Espa), Tom Garnett and Joseph Colmenero were all very pivotal in making the record what it is.
How did you approach the creative process?
I usually just sit in my backyard and let the beat run. I kick a football around while writing songs and I think it unlocks something in my brain that helps me see creative pockets in the instrumental. It’s hard to explain but I write most of my best songs while juggling a football.
What programs/instruments did you use?
I like to jam the tracks on guitar just to get an acoustic feel for it and I make all my demos on garageband. Ollie likes to record his own guitar/piano loops for his beats too. We track it all on Protools at the studio. My main tool is the iPhone voice memo app that I use to quickly record any melody ideas I might have.
How does the Vision EP compare to your debut album?
I see Vision as a sequel to Dreams. There are a few easter eggs that I’ve been leaving to suggest that along the way. In Dreams I was focussed more on the storytelling and the conceptual depth of the project as a whole whereas I made sure every track in Vision works as a standalone song. The main difference to me is that Vision was made with the intention of live performance but Dreams is something to sit with late at night and just take in.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
A lot of different stuff! I’ve been listening to a lot of Katchafire and reggae stuff recently but heaps of The Kid Laroi, Don Toliver and other trap artists. I went through a phase recently of listening to more lyrical stuff like Kota the Friend and Mick Jenkins. A lot of Homeshake for a different vibe too! What do you like to do away from music?
Not much to be honest! My only two loves are my girlfriend and music and as an independent, self-managed artist, I only really have time to create music, manage the business and spend time with her. Not complaining though, that’s all I need in life 🙂
What’s planned for 2021?
I want to blow this year! I’ve been having some exponential growth lately and it’s been amazing. I’m interacting with heaps of people on a daily basis and making sure to keep in touch with all the fans. I feel like I’ve been laying the groundwork for years and now everything is in place to finally blow up. Miles Marmalade and I are working on a collab album which is my next big priority.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
I love a good bacon and egg roll. If I could have one every day I would. There’s a stunning lookout just near my house where you can see miles and miles of nature over the national park. I like to go there and just take it in.

It was 12 years ago that RocKwiz saluted the Sidney Myer Music Bowl as part of its 50th anniversary celebration but now RocKwiz’s Really Really Good Friday makes its triumphant debut at the iconic venue as part of Live at the Bowl on Friday 2 April.
“We’re all flooded with memories of rock concerts we’ve seen there, but of course inspired by the big show we did there in March 2009; a sweltering night when Melbourne was getting over a hot summer of bushfires. We came together as a big, rowdy family for music, quizzing and pure fun to shake off the sadness of recent events. Sound familiar?” asks co-host Brian Nankervis.

West-London artist Lava La Rue (they/them) has shared their long awaited new EP Butter-Fly, out via Marathon Artists. Recorded in L.A. and London with producers including Isom Innis (Foster The People), Dan Holloway and Courage, Butter-Fly is self-described as Lava’s attempt to ‘redefine what queer music can be; setting the agenda for queer music in the 20s’. Across five dexterous and confident tracks, from the euphoric ‘Angel‘ featuring Deb Never, to the dreamy dopamine hit of ‘G.O.Y.D‘ (with vocals from Clairo and production from Vegyn), the release marks a new milestone in Lava’s already stellar multi-disciplinary career.
Speaking on the project, Lava explains;
‘The whole project was made in a transitional time where I felt like I had finally found my wings and settled into a place where I was able to practice a lot of the things I believed in. I musically had pushed myself further than i had done before to capture a dreamy emotion of falling in love, entering my 20s, shrugging of insecurities you carry through your teens and recognising the kind of person I want to be in this world.’
‘So the word “butterfly” made sense, but I specially split up the word into “butter” and “fly” with the hyphen because both those words by them self it has both ugly and beautiful connotations; the word butter makes me think of grease and excess but also smoothness and taste (smooth like butter), and the word fly makes me think of the insect and it’s connection to death & excretion but also to literally fly and be liberated. I guess it represents the process to join those words together and be transitional. The hyphen is the growing pains. Then finally it’s the follow up project after “Stitches” ….butterfly stitches, the healing of wounds’
The EP lands with an incredible accompanying video for ‘Magpie’.
On the video, Lava explains; “The ‘Magpie’ music video is London’s subcultural history timeline personified into a person walking through a tube carriage. Showing many elements of how British Caribbean sound system culture, UK black punk, Notting Hill carnival, 2000s Grime & more, would become the blueprint of the contemporary music scene we know today. Pay close attention as each small detail represents moments of both the rise & sometimes the decline of these movements.”
Butter-Fly showcases Lava’s incredible dexterity as an artist – flitting between a honey-tinged vocal and trademark rap flow. A collection of queer love songs in various guises, Lava takes us on a journey of their sonic capabilities; from the 2020 dream-like intro ‘Magpie’, through the 2020 love ballad ‘Goofy Hearts’, to the psychedelic pop of ‘Lift You Up’ ft.
