THE VOICE TOP 4 FINALISTS REVEAL THEIR ORIGINAL TRACKS AND HEAD TO THE GRAND FINALE THIS SUNDAY NIGHT on Channel 7 and 7plus

by the partae May 23, 2022
written by the partae

Australia’s #1 entertainment programme, The Voice Australia has revealed the final four artists for 2022 who will battle it out at the Grand Finale on Sunday, 29 May 2022 on Channel  7 and 7plus.

Today, The Voice Top 4 finalists Thando Sikwila, Faith Sosene, Jordan Tavita and Lachie Gill  release their original songs across all streaming and download partners. To record their  original singles, each Top 4 artist had the opportunity to work alongside Universal Music  Australia and high-profile producers and songwriters, identifying the track that best  represented and complemented their unique style and genre. To close the creative loop, each  artist was also asked for input to help create their individual artwork.

These original singles support the 2022 Top 4 finalists with the best opportunity to win over  the Australian public and spearhead their awesome The Voice performance catalogue.

Showcasing their powerhouse vocals, the Top 4 will go head-to-head with their awe-inspiring  Grand Finale performances on Sunday night, with the crowned The Voice Season 11 winner  taking home a recording contract with Universal Music Australia and $100,000 in prize  money.

From power ballads to pop with attitude, listen to these songs and more highlights from  Season 11 on The Voice Official Playlist HERE

The artists comments on their individual tracks:

Faith Sosene (QLD)

Words You Should Have Heard

“To create an emotionally moving melody is something remarkable but to find the perfect  words, is just glorious. For me, this song articulates just that. The Words You Should Have  Heard….kind, edifying and compassionate words.” Faith Sosene

Thando Sikwila (VIC)

The Other Side

“This song helped me put into words what I’ve been feeling for the past few months. I have  not allowed myself to fully embrace the changes in my life because I was scared of what it  meant losing. But I threw caution to the wind because I knew what was at stake…. a bird has  to fall out of the nest in order to soar.” Thando Sikwila

Jordan Tavita (NSW)

100 Years From Now

“The song has a powerful personal meaning for me, it speaks of love. It speaks of how my  world, my life would be like without the love from my special someone. As the song says  “…none will divide us, or tear us apart. I will love you darling, 100 Years From Now”. That’s  how I feel in this stage of my life, grateful I share a beautiful bond that has enabled me feel,  give and express love differently and I am very protective of this love.” Jordan Tavita

Lachie Gill (VIC)

Wasted Time

“Wasted Time talks about the early stages of a relationship with someone. It’s exciting, it’s terrifying and can be full of amazing moments if you allow them. The main line in this song ‘Wasting time with you never feels like wasted time’ takes me to the  most romantic and fun place ever which is what I love about this song. It’s the act of doing  something that isn’t necessarily productive but not caring about that because you just want  to be in that moment with someone you’re falling for. Sometimes we need to just let our hair  down. Swim in the ocean, dance around the lounge room, drive through the mountains, take  that trip you’ve been putting off.” Lachie Gill

Official Splendour Sideshows – Special Guests Added!

by the partae May 19, 2022
written by the partae

Secret Sounds is pleased to reveal the exciting group of special guests that will be joining the Official Splendour in the Grass Sideshows for 2022! From up and coming electronic acts, future popstars, beat heavy rappers and stunning vocalists, there is something for every music fan on this announcement with over fifteen acts added to the shows throughout July!

The impressive lineup of special guests kicks off with none other than irrepressible five piece Pond, who will take to the stage after the ever charismatic Hayley Mary warms the crowd up with her catchy indie pop at Liam Gallagher’s shows in Sydney and Melbourne, while WA duo Old Mervs get the crowd ready for the rock’n’roll star in Perth. Fixture of Australian club culture, Torren Foot will get the dancefloor moving ahead of Duke Dumont, that’s following a set from new anonymous project Tseba, opening the shows in Sydney and Melbourne with its fine balance of nascent electronic music and the familiar sounds of global pop and dance.

Sadly Tired Lion are no longer available for YUNGBLUD’s tour across the country, however rising popstar and social media phenomenon Peach PRC will be now joining the larrikin instead with her raw lyricism and carefully cultivated style. YUNGBLUD and Peach PRC will be joined at all shows, except for Perth, by 19 year old Slovakian wunderkind Karin Ann with her vibey tunes. Like YUNGBLUD, Peach PRC and Karin are champions of the LGBTQ+ community – get ready to feel the love at these lively shows, just ahead of YUNGBLUD dropping his new album on 2 September.

Enigmatic Melbourne based Glass Beams will play a hometown performance in support of Jungle, before making their way to open for the English duo’s set in Sydney too. Melbourne artist daine will be joining Mura Masa, showcasing her unique blend of left-field pop, Midwest emo, and hardcore which has created a captivating sound and lane all of her own. That’s while Brisbane young gun Nerve gives audiences a ‘taste’ of his impressive skills as a rapper, producer, singer, emcee and engineer ahead of Aitch’s much anticipated performances.

Mia Rodriguez will kick off proceedings ahead of Oliver Tree, showing up with her unapologetic attitude, unwavering ambition and infectious dark-pop sound. Easily one of Australia’s most adored dance acts Set Mo will bring their impressive live set to SOFI TUKKER’s shows in Melbourne and Sydney, while female duo WIIGZ join the fun too, with their electrifying blend of disco, funk, soul and pop in tow. That’s as Golden Vessel takes to sold out crowds – opening Still Woozy’s shows with his unique blend of electronic, hip hop, R&B and alternative pop influences.

Experimental Brisbane artist Yb. is set to grace the stage ahead of Biig Piig taking over with her confessional, genre fluid pop, as Liyah Knight performs her evocative music  ahead of Joy Crookes. Sweet and savoury four piece The Buoys will join Wet Leg at their sold out SITG sideshows. Wet Leg fans can get a double dip of the band of the moment when they support Yeah Yeah Yeahs at their Splendour sideshows too.

This huge host of special guests accompanies the previously announced news that pub punk legends The Chats and psychedelic rockers The Lazy Eyes will join The Strokes on their sold out tour, while Benson is all set to get audiences pumping with his wild and infectious personality ahead of Dillon Francis’ shows.

Splendour’s Official Sideshows will see over forty artists take to Australian stages this July. Tickets to those shows that aren’t already sold out are available now via secretsounds.com. Get ready to fill your mid-year with a bunch of exciting live performances from some of the hottest talent in the world right now!

THE GOOD LOVE – REVEAL BOISTEROUS ACCOMPANYING VIDEO FOR ‘SUNSHINE SOMETIME’

by the partae May 19, 2022
written by the partae

SUPPORT FOR ‘SUNSHINE SOMETIME’

“A slinky, soul-inflected piece of solid gold.”
Backseat Mafia (UK)

“Cut from an authentic paisley-print cloth, The Good Love dish out this ’60s psych-pop track with harmonies and starry-eyed vibes for days.” – ★★★★
Dave Ruby Howe – triple j Unearthed (AUS)

“A sweet, seductive love song for all.”
Atwood Magazine (USA)

“I feel like I’ve stumbled across a sick vintage store and yeah the threads are cool, but I’m hassling the disinterested store attendant asking what is this gold on the speakers!” – ★★★★
Declan Byrne – triple j (AUS)

First Play on triple j Unearthed’s TOPS Program

Darkinjung/NSW-based rock quintet The Good Love have just revealed their jovial accompanying video for new single ‘Sunshine Sometime’ – filmed, directed and edited by Harry Wills of Search Media.

Shot across Pickets Valley on New South Wales’ Central Coast/Darkinjung, the clip follows the group adventuring in band member Leroy Ashfood–Meehan’s old Defender, alongside live performance footage. Throughout the video, the band convey their whimsical personas through long tracking shots and interpretive scenes, adhering to the buoyant message that the song itself portrays.

The band explains the concept of the video:

“Shot on a rainy day, the clip features us goofing around in our favourite outfits, being our fun selves, which contrasts with the weather shown in the video and supports the notion of longing for ‘Sunshine’.”

To support the release, the band will embark on a tour across New South Wales, including stops at Eora/Sydney, Mheroo/Milton, Illawarra/Thirroul, Darkinjung/Wamberal and Illawarra/Kiama, to coincide with the release. This continues on from multiple sold-out headline shows and a national tour with Pacific Avenue.

Since its release, ‘Sunshine Sometime’ has seen support from the likes of triple j Unearthed. FBi Radio, 2SER, Atwood Magazine (USA), Milky and Australian Music Scene.

Taking cues from luminaries The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, The Good Love effortlessly brings the nostalgic sounds of 60s pop-rock into a contemporary setting. While the members are spread across New South Wales locations Cavanbah/Byron Bay, Birrigan Gargle/Yamba and the Darkinjung/Central Coast, they come together to create an infectious sonic footprint of effervescent tunes full of dancing and singalongs. The band mentions, “just the fact that we all live so far away from each other but come together for shows recording and practice is pretty unique, I think.”

‘Sunshine Sometime’ is available worldwide now

written by the partae

LEAPS AND BOUNDS MUSIC FESTIVAL IS BACK IN 2022

.

PUTTING THE ‘LIVE’ BACK IN LIVE MUSIC THIS WINTER

The Leaps and Bounds Music Festival will put the ‘live’ back in live music this winter, with an electrifying program of in-person gigs showcasing the artists, producers and local venues that make the City of Yarra Melbourne’s music capital.
Need to know:
Festival dates: 24 June – 3 July 2022
Location: Venues and spaces across the City of Yarra
Event details and updates: Leaps and Bounds Music Festival (lbmf.com.au)

The festival is set to delight live music lovers of all persuasions, with shows across 35 venues from the enduring dive bars of Fitzroy and Collingwood to the historic Abbotsford Convent; from town halls to record stores and everywhere in between.

Kicking off on 24 June, for 10 days and 10 nights Leaps and Bounds will help regenerate the local live music scene and bring artists and their audiences together again, following a devastating couple of years for the industry.

Yarra City Council is thrilled to be partnering with local venues, producers and artists to present a program that celebrates the breadth and diversity of our local live music industry.

The festival will spotlight First Nations artists, LGBTIQ+ performers, dance, community radio and independent record stores. Events will also honour the unique history and cultural impact of some iconic local venues, as well as provide a platform for the next generation of young artists and producers.

Together with the already announced tribute to PBS radio legend David Heard, Punters Club Reunion Show, Fitzroyalty and Bad Apples House Party, highlights of this year’s festival include:

The Push Music Careers Expo – A free, one-day event for high school-aged young people to discover, learn and plan their careers in the Aussie music industry. Featuring inspiring key-note presentations, insightful group workshops, interactive 1-on-1’s with local industry legends, info stalls from education and training institutions and networking opportunities with other young future industry leaders, this is your chance to kick-start your career in music.

Winter Spin – Yarra’s winter Record Store Day party. Hot off the heels of the 15th birthday celebrations of international Record Store Day, here’s another chance to party across Yarra’s independent record stores, with live performances, DJs and BBQs.

The Dancing Peacock – a journey across India – Presented by Studio J and Sapphire Dance, this dance extravaganza will take you through the many unique dance styles of India, including a Bollywood dance workshop.

No Lights No Lycra – Dance in the dark. Dance like no one’s watching! We’ll turn off the lights and crank up the tunes to release all inhibitions, move moods and work up a wild sweat – all completely sober.

PBS presents Rock-A-Bye Baby – A concert designed for both adults and kids alike, helping inspire the next generation of music lovers in Melbourne. Rock A Bye Baby is a no-frills, daytime gig for families of all ages, with real musicians and bands. We welcome noise, encourage crawling and expect dancing! Line-up to be announced.

Bring it Home – A special musical event for older people, featuring some extraordinary musicians including Wilbur Wilde and Alison Ferrier plus special guests Robyn Archer, Valanga Khoza, Derek Guille and the Ugly Uncles, Crossing the Bridge Choir and Maggie Beer.

Industry Day – A free event in appreciation of the work of not just musicians, but the entire kaleidoscope of freelancers and small businesses who keep the live music sector playing. Music lovers and workers are invited to this rare event put on FOR them, not BY them.

Mr. McClelland’s Finishing School – Now in its 14th year, Mr. McClelland’s Finishing School is Melbourne’s favourite long-running indie/pop night for those who love dancing to music! What sort of music? Classic indie, modern indie and a sweet dose of rock, soul and eclectic pop will be the order of the day – If you can dance to it, Melbourne DJ legend Andrew McClelland will play it.

EOFY Party! with Karen From Finance – Joining up with Thursgay for this special event, you can expect live music from the woman herself, plus live music and drag by Tanzer and live percussion DJ group RL Yacht Wives. Presented by Thursgay and Yah Yahs.

Dawn of the Dad at The Fitzroy Pinnacle – a Dad-rock themed mini-festival consisting of predominantly female and gender non-conforming artists, with each act required to perform a ‘dad-rock’ cover, featuring Zig Zag, Eaglemont, Hannah Kate, Laura Imbruglia and more.

SPAWN PRESENTS: A night of multicultural psych music at The Tote Hotel – Local psychedelic band SPAWN curate a night of multicultural psychedelic music backed by a light show.

‘Her Sound Her Story’ Screening + Q&A with film makers at The Corner Hotel – HER SOUND, HER STORY is an intimate conversation unveiling the personal experiences, histories and significant social impacts of women in the Australian music industry.

Tinkle – A free, queer piano bar presented by Rainbow House Club. Hosted by Ronnie Rai with a rotating roster of special guests, as well as providing an open mic for emerging artists to take the stage and wow the crowds with their hidden talents.

Leaps and Bounds Music Festival is proudly presented by Yarra City Council, with presenting partner PBS.

Grapevine Gathering Expands to SA & QLD, confirms 2022 dates

by the partae May 12, 2022
written by the partae

Saturday 1st October – Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley, WA

Sunday 2nd October (Public Holiday Eve) – Serafino Wines, McLaren Vale, SA

Saturday 8th October – Rochford Wines, Yarra Valley, VIC

Saturday 15th October – Roche Estate, Hunter Valley, NSW

Sunday 16th October – Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton, QLD

Australia’s favourite wine and music pairing Grapevine Gathering have just announced they will be expanding to South Australia and Queensland, confirming dates for 5 wineries around the country.

Loveable Instagram celebrities and all-round legends ‘The Inspired Unemployed’ will be hosting Grapevine Gathering at all 5 shows, performing changeover DJ sets, and various other shenanigans.

For their first foray at festivals, they hosted Grapevine Gathering VIC back in January, taking sweaty shoes from random punters and doing shoeys on stage. They also hosted a segment of ‘The Bachelorette’, performed an acoustic version of ‘Drops of Jupiter’ and gave it a crack at DJing the changeovers. The general consensus was their dancing skills were much better than their DJing skills. Hopefully they learn to DJ before October comes around….

The lineup is yet to be announced, but past headliners have included the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Flight Facilities, The Wombats, Tkay Maidza and The Veronicas so we’re sure Grapevine Gathering has something special up their sleeves.

Introducing Grapevine Gathering’s new partners in wine….situated in the heart of McLaren Vale and only a 45 minute drive from Adelaide CBD, Serafino Wines will welcome Grapevine Gathering to its charming vineyards for the inaugural South Australian gathering.

Sirromet Wines, located in the picturesque Mount Cotton, the Queensland edition is only a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Grapevine Gathering will also be returning to its homes at Roche Estate in the Hunter Valley, Rochford Wines in the Yarra Valley, and Sandalford Wines in Swan Valley.

Grapevine Gathering is brought to you by Untitled Group, the largest independent music promoter in Australia and the masterminds behind festivals such as Beyond The Valley, Pitch Music & Arts, Grapevine Gathering, Wildlands, For The Love, Ability Fest & more.

Acclaimed Australian indie-dance trio Crooked Colours have released their first single of 2022, ‘Feel It’ further teasing the release of their third studio album following their critically acclaimed 2017 debut ‘Vera’, and their sophomore album ‘Langata’ released in 2019. The new single was written and produced by the Crooked Colours trio, Phil Slabber (vocals, guitar, production), Leon Debaughn (keys, production), and Liam Merrett-Park (drums), and is available now HERE.

“This is a song that was created in the U.S. on one of our first writing trips together, realising the work it took into being fortunate in this position but still wanting more from our career,” Phil Slabber of Crooked Colours shares. “Realising that you can always do better if that is detrimental or not. This song encompasses a lot of hard work but at the same time the pursuit of something better.”

Known for their stellar onstage charisma, the trio have built a devout following across Australia and New Zealand, having undertaken numerous national tours in support of their albums ‘Vera’, and ‘Langata’, alongside a multitude of festival slots across Splendour In The Grass, Wildlands Festival, Groovin’ The Moo, and Laneway Festival. The band have also undertaken an impressive string of U.S. festivals in recent years such as Bonnaroo, CRSSD, Life Is Beautiful, Firefly & Lightning In A Bottle to name a few. More recently the band toured East Coast Australia for For The Love, alongside Dom Dolla and Mallrat. Today, the trio announce their largest undertaking to date with a headline tour kicking off this August, including shows at Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide, Fremantle Arts Centre in Perth, Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, ahead of some massive crowds at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, and the iconic Hordern Pavilion in Sydney.

Crooked Colours quickly became one of Australia’s hottest electronic acts, racking up over 200M worldwide streams with their popular singles ‘Light Year (Feat. Masked Wolf & Jasiah),’  ‘No Sleep,’ ‘Falling,’ ‘Love Language,’ and of course, their 2017 breakthrough smash, ‘Flow.’ Hailed by EDM.com for their “harmonious blend of indie, house, and pop,” the Fremantle, Western Australia-based trio fuse delicate acoustic instrumentation, evocative vocals, upbeat lyricism, and dancefloor-ready synth transmissions to create a dynamic, shape-shifting sound all their own. Having earned worldwide critical applause and an ever-growing fan following, Crooked Colours have worked with an array of artists from Jasiah and Masked Wolf to the legendary DJ duo Hermitude, rising DJs/producers like kryptogram, slenderbodies, Hayden James and more.

“There’s a lot of hate and shit going on in the world. Everything is so tense, we just want you to feel good.” – Crooked Colours

“Crooked Colours can do no wrong…the perfect balance of instrumentation and electronic elements.” – THIS SONG IS SICK

“Having established themselves as one of Australia’s hottest emerging electronic acts, Crooked Colours certainly are on their way to the top.” – CULTR

“Uplifting and emotive…suited for both a sunset dance party or the afterhours’ dancefloor.” – DANCING ASTRONAUT

“Crooked Colours (have) quickly made a name for themselves carving their own unique yet perfect blend of indie pop and electronic music.” – FLAUNT

“Dipping into the synth world of electronic, the bright guitars of pop, and the sultry, mysterious lyrics usually associated with indie rock, Crooked Colours shows abilities across the board.” – POPDUST

“Crooked Colours (have) acquired a reputation for that precise festival-friendly sound that makes you want to get outside and frolic in maximum sunlight.” – SF WEEKLY

THE CHATS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘GET F*CKED’+ AUSTRALIAN TOUR

by the partae May 9, 2022
written by the partae
Sunny coast punks, The Chats unapologetically announce the release of their second album, GET F*CKED for release worldwide on August 19th via Bargain Bin Records. The band have also let a new single and video rip PLUS revealed an Australian headlining tour for September 2022.

LISTEN: THE CHATS – ‘6L GTR’

‘6L GTR’ is the new album’s opener; a swinging takedown of a speed-crazed status-symbol driver – a critique piqued when Eamon spotted the titular licence plate in an airport carpark. After the immortal chorus of “don’t need a big flash fancy car, just need a six-litre GTR”, Sandwith instinctively broke into a quote from David Lee Roth’s purring dropdown rap from Van Halen’s ‘Panama’ – most apposite! – but unfortunately Roth didn’t approve of this so they had to axe it.

“Our manager got an email from David Lee Roth’s people that said “NO!” we can’t use it.” Sandwith explains, “What a dog c*nt.”

New album GET F*CKED is fully loaded with 13 new, high-velocity punk tracks that rip from start to finish, and lyrically cover panic attacks, junkies, prison breaks, the price of smokes, surf mafia, being drunk in every pub in Brisbane and many more based on personal experiences.

Once they’d worked up a rollicking batch of new tunes, they had actually planned to record again in Geelong, near Melbourne, with Billy Gardner, who produced ‘High Risk Behaviour’, but due to pandemic border closures, they nailed it instead in six days at Brisbane’s Hunting Ground facility with Cody McWaters, who’d worked on a single for Eamon’s other band, Headlice.

The more you listen to it, the more you realise that there was only one plausible title for this second Chats album. “We just thought how funny would it be, if you were a kid seeing it on the album cover. I remember going to K-Mart and seeing the Green Day ‘Dookie’ CD, and being like, ‘Aw man, this is the craziest album cover I’ve ever seen!’ Imagine being a kid and just seeing a CD that says, ‘Get F*cked’!”

SUPPORT FOR ‘SUNSHINE SOMETIME’

“A sweet, seductive love song for all.”
Atwood Magazine (USA)

“Cut from an authentic paisley-print cloth, The Good Love dish out this ’60s psych-pop track with harmonies and starry-eyed vibes for days.” – ★★★★
Dave Ruby Howe – triple j Unearthed (AUS)

“Oh yes I very much want to pick daisies and lay lazy in the sunshine to this.” – ★★★★
Imogen Hanrahan – triple j Unearthed (AUS)

NSW-based rock quintet The Good Love have just revealed their dreamy new single ‘Sunshine Sometime’ – produced by Jack Nigro (Pacific Avenue, The Terrys, TOTTY).

‘Sunshine Sometime’ is a moseying, ‘60’s inspired gem filled with bright tremolo guitars, groove-laden bass and playful piano that set a beguiling bedrock for enchanting vocal harmonies to soar. The track builds elegantly with deft dynamics, led by lead singer Leroy Ashford-Meehan and his earnest delivery, capping off a delightful ride through dreamlike steez.

The band talks about the inspiration behind ‘Sunshine Sometime’:

“’Sunshine Sometime’ is about the longing for someone who cannot be described more than a beam of sunshine. It was inspired by a visit to Manning’s Great Aunt Margaret in Melbourne. The song reflects on a wholesome morning with a lovely individual, telling jokes and stories and sipping tea. In this respect, we all wish to have someone like Margaret, who can shine sunshine onto others. So raise your teacup/glass/whatever and tell someone you love them.”

The band will embark on a tour across New South Wales, including stops at Sydney, Milton, Thirroul, Wamberal and Kiama, to coincide with the release. This continues on from multiple sold-out headline shows and a national tour with Pacific Avenue.

Taking cues from luminaries The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, The Good Love effortlessly brings the nostalgic sounds of 60s pop-rock into a contemporary setting. While the members are spread across New South Wales locations Byron Bay, Yamba and the Central Coast, they come together to create an infectious sonic footprint of effervescent tunes full of dancing and singalongs. The band mentions, “just the fact that we all live so far away from each other but come together for shows recording and practice is pretty unique, I think.”

‘Sunshine Sometime’ is available worldwide now

Yep, Falls is ready to elevate your New Year with exciting new venues in VIC and WA and a fresher, deeper lineup and electronic experience than ever before!

Message your best festival mates and prepare to party your way into 2023, camping at Pennyroyal Plains VIC or North Byron Parklands NSW, or cityside at Fremantle Park WA when Falls returns with a lineup that includes some of the biggest acts on the planet right now alongside a host of festival favourites and exciting stars of the future across three main stages.

Falls’ El Capitan Stage, showcasing global headline artists across hip hop, indie, rock and pop, is where this Summer’s major music moments are set to play out! Sugarloaf Resort, with high end production and custom structures, is Australia’s new home for the very best in global electronic artists. And the Futures Stage is where you’ll find cutting edge acts, showcasing the future of music.

Arctic Monkeys 2006 album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not became the fastest selling debut in UK history. They are the only band to have won both Best British Group and British Album of The Year at The Brits three times. They’ve won 7 Brit awards in total alongside an Ivor Novello award, a Mercury Music Prize, 20 NME awards, 5 Q awards and 3 Grammy nominations. With over 30 million followers, the band’s music has been streamed more than 9 billion times to date. They’ll headline Reading & Leeds and festivals across Europe before heading to Falls!

Lil Nas X released the culture-shifting 4x Platinum hit ‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)’ in March 2021, the queer anthem debuting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single features on his GRAMMY-nominated, certified Platinum debut album Montero which was released last September and landed spots on “Best Of 2021” lists across the globe. The album also boasts back-to-back Top 40 #1s with ‘Industry Baby’ featuring Jack Harlow and ‘That’s What I Want’. The 23-year-old rapper, singer and songwriter rose to fame with his 2019 mega hit ‘Old Town Road’, which simultaneously upended the music industry and shattered genre norms. The 16 x Platinum remix with Billy Ray Cyrus became the longest running #1 single in Billboard Hot 100 history, earning Lil Nas X 2 Grammys. Multiplatinum hits ‘Panini’, ‘Rodeo’ and ‘HOLIDAY’ followed. Don’t miss the incredible Lil Nas X’s first live shows in Australia at Falls!

Forward-thinking beatmaker and producer, Jamie xx helped shape the sound of the late 2000s and beyond with his Mercury Music Prize-winning group the xx and solo work. He released debut single ‘Far Nearer/Beat For’ in 2011. Further singles ‘Girl/Sleep Sound’, ‘All Under One Roof Raving’, ‘Loud Places’, and ‘Gosh’ followed, the latter two appearing on his debut album as a solo artist, 2015’s In Colour, which received nominations for a Best Dance/Electronic Album Grammy, the Mercury Prize and Album of the Year at the Brit Awards. Jamie released ‘Idontknow’ in 2020, boasting a faster-pace and more aggressive sound than his In Colour era. He returned in April this year with the festival ready anthem, ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN’, released alongside his massive set at Coachella. Get ready to move when Jamie xx plays Falls 2022/2023!

Few artists have made an impact like South Korean born DJ and producer Peggy Gou. Inspired by the glory years of London club Plastic People, her natural feel for house and techno’s legacy led to a run of international hits; ‘Gou Talk’, ‘It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)’, ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Jigoo’. These iconic tracks with their playful, unmistakable MPC rhythms and irresistible melodies have seen her tour the world’s leading clubs and festivals, from Glastonbury to Dekmantel, De School to Printworks and now Peggy Gou will be the very first artist to headline Falls’ new Sugarloaf Resort.

This year Falls will make its debut in fresh locations in Victoria and Western Australia, and with this change comes lush new options for music lovers that like to live large…

BODYJAR ANNOUNCE NEW RITUALS TOUR WITH SPECIAL GUESTS CHASING GHOSTS & LOLA NEW RITUALS OUT NOW

by the partae May 4, 2022
written by the partae
Today, legendary Melbourne punk rock band Bodyjar announce the New Rituals Tour. Bodyjar will be heading out on the road in support of their latest album New Rituals. Special guests will be Aboriginal lead indie punk band Chasing Ghosts while opening up will be punk rock newcomers Lola. Full details below.

For nearly 30 years now, Bodyjar have built their local & international following with relentless touring and blistering high energy live shows, that have made them one of the most respected punk rock bands in the world.

Produced by Bodyjar and Sam Johnson (Northlane, Luca Brasi, Camp Cope, The Bennies) and mixed by Steve Evetts (New Found Glory, Architects), New Rituals sees Bodyjar return to the uptempo catchy punk rock the band are renowned for. Calling on all their experience over the years, the new album is a true return to form from one of Australia’s finest.

PRAISE FOR NEW RITUALS

“Bodyjar are still the gold standard of Aussie pop punk” – Double J

“Equal parts slick and powerful, and paired with the classic sound they’ve become known for” – Rolling Stone Australia

“A New Bodyjar Ripper” – Wall Of Sound

To survive over 25 years as a critically acclaimed and popular international live touring act takes more than good luck…it also takes determination, integrity and a knack for writing great songs. If you’ve spent any time skateboarding in Australia over the last few decades, your ears would have been assaulted by the sheer melodic mastery of tracks such as Not The Same & One In A Million. New Rituals is the 7th LP for Bodyjar which harks back to those songs, in what might be their most powerful record yet.

LISTEN TO NEW RITUALS

Special guests and NIMA nominated “New Talent of The Year” Chasing Ghosts came out blazing and unapologetic last year dropping their critically acclaimed EP HOMELANDS via Bad Apples Music. The EP received 4.5/5 stars from Rolling Stone Australia, titling them “the band Australia needs right now.”

The Grogans drop their churning psychedelic slow jam ‘Inside My Mind’ with kaleidoscopic music video + announce AU/NZ tour dates

by the partae May 4, 2022
written by the partae

“like the love child of The Ramones and Supergrass.” – Arun Kendall, Backseat Mafia

Melbourne raconteurs The Grogans return in all their laconic glory on their all out audio visual psych trip ‘Inside My Mind’. Filling the big shoes of the trio’s recent success with their 7’’ double A-side singles ‘Just A Kid’ and ‘Be Your Man’—collectively added to Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Fresh Finds AU & NZ and Local Noise playlists—‘Inside My Mind’ continues The Grogans’ prolifically inventive and pigeonhole-defying style in a bluesy psych trip of epic proportions. To celebrate the release, Quin, Gus and Jordy, are thrilled to announce an upcoming Australia New Zealand tour this winter, heading to Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington.

Out today via Cousin Will Records in tandem with a kaleidoscopic new video accompaniment, ‘Inside My Mind’ navigates perceived misconceptions and irrational thoughts in a woozy fuzz fest of swampy blues and surf psych. The song’s lucrative reverberations and hazy delay are exemplified by the Jackson Hayat directed clip with glistening colourful visuals by Nathaniel Stewart in a fever dream feast for the senses. Be sure to join the band tonight at 6pm AEST as they go live on their Youtube to join their fans in the video’s official release.

“The concept behind Inside My Mind’s music video was to create a set that made it look almost as if we were performing inside our own heads. The installation + projections build on this concept further, as when each of us are playing on our own within the installation, it is as if our minds are clogged up with our own thoughts (in this case, colours). These shots are then mixed in with the shots of the three of us all playing together, those shots are a lot less dense, with the colours / projections working together to create beautiful visuals without much at all getting in the way.” – The Grogans

nside my mind is a track that has been around for years. I believe it was written sometime between 2016/2017. This song is based on that anxious feeling you might get from making up irrational things in your head but understanding they are just fake perceptions you’ve created. The whole song (lyrically and sonically) is a different feel for this album following the last two singles, but our albums tend to normally dip into a few different genres, reflecting the three of our different influences.” – The Grogans

Having just completed a massive sold out Australian tour with Hockey Dad, as well as performing at Sailor Jerry’s Road to Rolling Stone concert alongside Eliza & The Delusionals and The Terrys, The Grogans are in fine form and raring to go for their biggest tour to date kicking off this June across three months at major cities across Australia and New Zealand. Do not miss your chance to catch this rising chameleon act as they perform songs from their expansive surf, punk, blues and reggae catalog this winter.

‘Inside My Mind’ Lyrics
I should have been lonely, according to all the facts.
I should have felt something, I felt it inside my chest.

Must have been a thing inside my mind because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
Must have been a thing inside my past because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.

And I thought I was upset, from all the things you did to me.
I realised something, all the things were in my head.

Must have been a thing inside my mind because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
Must have been a thing inside my past because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.

Must have been a thing inside my mind because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
Must have been a thing inside my past because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
