TEN CITY – ‘DEVOTION’
TODAY : DEVOTION (MARSHALL JEFFERSON REMIX)
MARCH 19 : DEVOTION (ILLYUS & BARRIENTOS REMIX)
JUNE 18: ‘JUDGEMENT’
Ten City, comprising of Byron Stingily lead singer, songwriter and electronic music’s most renowned producer Marshall Jefferson, have reformed delivering their first original music in over two and a half decades. The pair are best known for releasing iconic records such as ‘That’s The Way Love Is’ which reached the UK’s Top 10 and ‘Right Back To You’.
One of the first singles written by Ten City, ‘Devotion’ was first released in 1987 and then re-released in 1989, during the first Summer of Love. It went Top 20 in the US and Top 30 in the UK, showcasing for the first time the unforgettable and inimitable falsetto vocals of Byron Stingily at his peak. ‘Devotion’ also greatly influenced the Pop Music landscape at the time inspiring electronic act Nomad to borrow the topline for ‘(I Wanna Give You) Devotion’ which went on hit the Top 10 in the UK in 1991.
Now they deliver their fifth body of work complete with the essential reworked classics and brand-new works, from the seminal House act.
‘Devotion’ receives a full rework from the original and iconic producer Marshall Jefferson. With the remix EP package completed by a version from Glasgow based duo Illyus & Barrientos, a remake aimed directly at the underground dancefloor.
Releasing their first new music in two and a half decades, Ten City return when the world needs uniting more than ever. Their music and positive messages can help to heal divisions and create a new chapter in House music’s ongoing legacy. Ten City are now signed to Ultra Music, a global label and a fitting home for this release.
Ten City ‘Devotion’ (Marshall Jefferson Mix) is out now on Ultra Music.

Listen to RF Radio with Skream now: http://bit.ly/38ed8LT
Riverside Festival is excited to announce that Skream will be joining this year’s lineup. With 6 months to go until Scotland’s premiere electronic music, he is also the first guest on the festival’s new fortnightly RF Radio. The new online series will give fans the opportunity to stay connected to the RF community with the music they love.
RF Radio will drop every second Friday on the festival’s official SoundCloud and will feature some of the biggest names from Riverside’s past and present as well as plenty of fresh and local talent. Skream is no stranger to Glasgow, or the festival. A stalwart of the Scottish club scene, Skream is a regular on Glasgow’s dancefloors, hailing the Sub Club on Twitter as, “genuinely the best club in the world.”
As one of the UK’s best-loved selectors Skream has enjoyed the kind of consistency most DJs and producers can only dream of. His passion for collecting and playing music is unrelenting and runs deep to his core; disco, house, techno and everything in between. Only in his early thirties, Skream has achieved more in the last 15 years than most artists do in a lifetime, yet his hunger and enthusiasm is akin to that of someone who is only just getting started.
Skream will be joining RF21 headliners Amelie Lens, Disclosure & Jamie xx on the banks of the Clyde this September. This year will see a huge return for the festival, armed with an additional day and a formidable line-up.
While live music was paused and the world’s dancefloors were laid empty, organisers were working hard behind the scenes to ensure that when Glasgow could dance together again, it will be the biggest and best celebration of music – and of life – RF has ever thrown.

‘Treading Water’ is a serene song for a time of chaos, it’s lush guitar and soaring vocals guides the listener through imagery and metaphors for mental health. Bridget Allan plays all the instruments, composed and recorded this piece on the lands of the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation. It is mixed/mastered by Calvin Lauber, who is best known as the producer and bass player for American indie artist, Julien Baker. This piece is the first of Bridget’s for a while to have such minimal instrumentation, no drums and minimal backing vocals. It is an intimate track and has lots of space for all the reverberating instruments to intertwine.
Bridget Allan is an indie/jazz-influenced singer-songwriter from the Mornington Peninsula. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne, specializing in Interactive Composition. Bridget is a regular in the local gig scene around Melbourne supporting the likes of Teenage Dads, Slowly Slowly, and The Hard Aches and also doing events for causes such as the main stage at Sea Shepherd’s Ocean Defence Tour, Paddle Out for Westernport, and gigs with Oxfam. The influences Bridget gives most credit to for her art are musicians such as Jeff Buckley, Camp Cope, Florence + the Machine, and Hiatus Kaiyote. Bridget has been recently working with producers Jordan Finlay (Teenage Dads) and Calvin Lauber (Julien Baker) for her original music, Bridget’s music has been played on Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, SYN TV, Triple R, RRR, PBS, and more.

David first began work on For Those I Love as a chance to write frankly about the struggles he and his friends faced while growing up in north Dublin. Anecdotally and otherwise, For Those I Love documents the harsh realities of a daily life up against it, and holds a mirror up to the clear disparity between a working class upbringing and the lack of opportunity that remains to this day.
At its core, the forthcoming album pays tribute to Dave’s best friend and former bandmate, Paul Curran, who passed away in 2018. Following Paul’s tragic death, Dave locked himself away in his home studio for months, ultimately recording over 76 songs that would eventually be condensed down to form the basis of his debut album. The result is an incredibly beautiful, raw and uncompromising 9-track project addressing grief and catharsis, an important record that could only emerge from an entirely honest place.

“This song is about wanting to escape, codependency, and repressed anger fueling the ego/subconscious mind. It is emotionally chaotic lyrically and peppy at the same time. (Because everything is fine.)” – Emmet MacLellan
Co-written with the song’s Producer, Adam Gallant (Rose Cousins / Paper Lions / Tara Maclean), “Fine” is their introduction to the flourishing East Coast music scene. First gaining recognition with their song “Constant” (which garnered East Coast CBC love), Emmet drew inspiration from a myriad of honest and open creative spaces. With raw emotion, ethereal vocals, and a fresh take on indie folk – this new single is a confirmation of their unbridled talent, and (more than assuredly) bright future.

Full Grown is the full throttle, dance-ready debut release from RHY; a song for those who find themselves feeling anything but ‘full grown’. A common theme throughout his music, RHY’s Full Grown touches on feelings of honest innocence and obliviousness; in this case when it comes to falling in love, and with it, the associated fear of actually doing something about it.
“This one was written a couple years ago when these things made way less sense to me.” he says, “They often still don’t, but it’s cool to see how my thoughts and feelings towards this concept shifted as I slowly chipped away at the production elements of the song.”
Full Grown features colourful synths and a bouncing rhythm, tied together by warm vocals and funky guitars; reminiscent of artists such as Panama and Roosevelt. The sense of energy and movement are fun and make not only for an infectious mood, but also an exciting inception to RHY’s solo career.
RHY says he looks forward to 2021 with huge eyes as he continues to brew new tunes and gear up to begin bringing his live set to venues around Perth.
Rhyan aka RHY is a 21-year-old Perth-based bedroom producer and songwriter. Shaped by a strange amalgamation of influences spanning many genres, RHY creates dance music that serves as a delightful blend of, and love letter to, the musicians and producers that inadvertently crafted his sound. As its most primal function, RHY’s music exists to be grooved to and melodies belted, look a little closer and you’ll find his music to be surprisingly introspective.

rebelyay – Dye Your Hair
For fans of Iglooghost and A.G. cook, rebelyay is an NYC producer whose debut album is nearing. With his biggest body of work yet set for an April release, ‘Dye Your Hair’ is an energetic warm up with a sombre narrative centered around addiction. Take a listen!
KK Lewis – Good Enough
Indie soul songstress KK Lewis grew to prominence in Dublin, and the Irish singer’s latest offering sheds light on negative female stereotypes. The accompanying video adds to this narrative with great poingance, it works neatly with what is an impeccable track.
Sterling Press – Very Fun Times
Jam packed with edgy guitars and ladish lyrics, Sterling Press have neatly announced themselves as an exciting new four piece who could well steer the indie ship for years to come. With a sound reminiscent of Blur and the Libertines, Sterling Press very fun single can be heard below.
Miller Roberts – Voice In My Head
A world away from Sterling Press but equally as weighty, Miller Robert’s ‘Voice In My Head’ is a calming ballad that is made to pull on heartstrings. Each layer of instrumentation feels warm and considered and Miller’s vocal continues to heal the ache of life’s monotony. It’s one of our favorite folk records of the year.
Harry Marshall – How Would I Know?
Each single from Harry continues to astound given his knack for writing commercially leaning indie records. ‘How Would I Know’ is another gem in Harry’s crown and we’re proud to share it.
Benedict – Warzone Tetraphobic remix
Teaming up with Lee Groves, Australia’s alt-pop prodigy has released another of her single ‘Warzone’, with this one adding an altogether different spin on a single that just never gets old. With Lee’s testimonials coming from big hitters like Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp and Madonna, we can’t recommend this one enough.
Cian Jay – Trial & Error double single
Emerging multi-hyphenate Cian Jay has revealed his new dual track single ‘Trial & Error’, returning to the scene with his first release since his 2019 debut ‘Summer Is Dead’, which has racked up almost 200,000 streams on Spotify.
Juuku – Leaving
Producer Juuku is back again with yet another single release. The single, titled’ Leaving’, has dropped via indie imprint Moving Castle and sets up his incoming spring EP. Discussing leaving times in the past, the single is gorgeously balanced between explosive and emotive.
Michaela – Cuffed
New York-born, LA based Michaela is crashing onto the scene upon the new wave of neo-soul and R&B that listeners cannot get enough of. Her upcoming single ‘Cuffed’ ushers in chilled, contemporary vibes with its dreamy guitar melodies, spacey electronic sounds and kinetic beats. Michaela’s smooth, sultry vocals are accompanied by the agile crooning of Dominiquinn, and together their authentic lyricism tells a story of trying to set boundaries in a relationship.

To cap off a strong run of music releases arcing all the way back to 2018, Ben Wright Smith presents Echo Lodge, the final instalment of what’s become a definitive trilogy of material.
Ten songs encompass the eras of previous EPs Psychotropical (2018), Volcano God Head Explodes (2020), plus three new tracks, the Echo Lodge project is a career touchstone for the singer-songwriter, who has been thriving as an artist on a national scale with each release.
The process of bringing this music together has been an organic one for Ben, who has always written from the heart with pure emotional intent driving each song. The way in which his previous EP’s rolled out lined up with his approach of expressing creatively, and his desire to be in constant communication and connection with the music community he is part of.
“I wanted to start releasing the music as we were recording it. I didn’t want to record stuff and have it just sitting there. I like the idea of finishing music and putting it out in the world as you’re doing it.”
Ben Wright Smith
The music video for recent single ‘New Breeze’ (out now), is a hectic romp featuring actors Rhys Mitchell (Upper Middle Bogan, Glitch) and Maria Angelou (Sisters, Bad Jews). Filmed at Ben’s house, directed by frequent collaborator Josh Dawson, the clip brings Ben’s track into a fun imaginative space.
“When we first came up with the idea we couldn’t stop laughing at how dumb it was. Basically we trashed my place with leaf blowers and tried to imagine a floating head chasing everyone around.”

PRAISE FOR BEN WRIGHT SMITH
“…this track sounds like a bloody ray of sunshine! So warm and radiant. Great to hear from you again.”
Triple J, Bridget Hustwaite (‘Storm Boy’)
“Ben Wright Smith is an artist you need to name as one of your favourites immediately.”
Tone Deaf
“…a hazy jam filled with euphoric vibes that would perfectly soundtrack a road trip to the beach.”
The Music (‘Tomorrow Never Comes’)
“The result is a diverse collection of indie-folk jams that flirt with the poppier side of the occasion, that serves as a fantastic body of work.”

Ska-punk pioneers The Mighty Mighty BossToneS will release their 11th studio record When God Was Great on May 7 via Hellcat Records.
Co-produced by longtime collaborator Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys) and Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong (Transplants, Jimmy Cliff), When God Was Great is the culmination of their extensive and all-embracing career and sees the band bringing back friends, tour mates, and bandmates from the past for a sonic celebration that stresses the power of perseverance and human connection during tumultuous times. The album features 15-tracks that initially arose out of a collective sense of loss.
“We were lightly writing songs before the insanity without any sort of timeline in mind. All of a sudden, the world changed and benchmark events in a very long career that we were looking forward to, such as playing with the Madness at the Greek Theatre, were taken away from us,” explains frontman Dicky Barrett. “With all of this time on our hands, we started writing at a quickened pace and we were really inspired. As grim as everything around us was in the outside world, this was the most fun we ever had making a record.”
Today, the band shares their new single “I DON’T BELIEVE IN ANYTHING”.
Since their formation in 1983, the BossToneS have been credited as one of the forefathers of ska punk and the creators of its subgenre, ska-core. With a career spanning over 30-years Boston’s best dressed band has built and continued to build a devoted following with their unique brass-infused brand of punk rock. To date they have released ten studio records; Devil’s Night Out (1989), More Noise and Other Disturbances (1992), Don’t Know How to Party (1993), Question the Answers (1994), Let’s Face It (1997), Pay Attention (2000), A Jackknife to a Swan (2002), Pin Points and Gin Joints (2009), The Magic of Youth (2011), and While We’re at It (2018).
The Mighty Mighty BossToneS are vocalist Dicky Barrett, bassist Joe Gittleman, saxophonists Tim “Johnny Vegas” Burton and Leon Silva, Bosstone Ben Carr, drummer Joe Sirois, guitarists Nate Albert and Lawrence Katz, keyboardist John Goetchius, and trombonist Chris Rhodes.
