merci, mercy Releases Stand-Out Moment From Forthcoming EP, ‘Something You Like’ With Animated Lyric Video + Sells Out Three Shows At Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory + Fourth Show On-Sale Now And Exclusively Live-Streamed
“A knack for navigating palpable tensions, and translating them into refined, guitar-led melodies.”– V Magazine “The energy is high and the music is as vibrant as her hair.”– Ones To Watch “Boisterous and triumphant in its presentation…” – Lyrical Lemonade “‘Fall Apart’ is a relatable reflection on cynicism in oneself.” –Coup De Main “Her vocals are mellow, similar to Billie Eilish or Beabadoobee.” – EARMILK “Combining youthful, quirky lyrics with an intensely catchy beat…” – EUPHORIA.
“The toe-tapping song weaves introspective and complex lyrics.” – Blanc Magazine “Generating infectious electronica-infused pop…” – Atwood Magazine
19-year-old Sydney-based songstress merci, mercy is excited to share ‘Something You Like’ – from her debut EP no thank you, no thanks – with another cleverly animated lyric video from Bianca Bosso.
The heart of the EP, and radiating a beautiful and sincere energy, ‘Something You Like’ sees merci, mercy’s longing vocals gracefully stacked against twinkling textures of alt-pop. The delicate nature of the song makes it a stand-out moment from the release, and shows a new side to the artist, as she braces observations of a soured relationship over tender melodies. Produced by Chris Collins and premiered on Flaunt Magazine overnight, merci, mercy explains:
“This song really poured out of me and was the easiest one to write on the EP. The song was written from observing toxic relationships and seeing how someone can change you without you realising. It’s my go to song to play whenever I pick up my uke.”
‘Something You Like’ arrives on the back of three sold-out shows at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory and a newly announced fourth show for Friday October 23. The shows are merci, mercy’s first live performances ever, outside of her recently streamed set via ISOL-AID.
In addition to the announcement of the fourth show, merci, mercy is thrilled to share that the show will also be accessible to fans via a live-stream. This unique moment will bring together those in the venue and those from home for a very special celebratory performance.
Fans can gain access to the live-stream, by hitting the link HERE and following the prompts to either follow merci, mercy on Spotify, pre-add the EP on Apple Music or sign up to her mailing list. The first 1000 fans to register will gain access to the stream.
merci, mercy released her last single ‘Fall Apart’ this July. Produced by Edwin White (Vance Joy) and Joel Quartermain (G Flip, Meg Mac), and mixed by Spike Stent (CHVRCHES, Grimes, Post Malone), ‘Fall Apart’ juxtaposes the artist’s tough girl exterior with her tender heart. Spinning on triple j locally and added to a long list of playlists across Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon, the song has enamoured fans, and in conjunction with debut single ‘Fucked Myself Up’, has seen her streaming numbers grow to over 4.5 million.
no thank you, no thanks EP is a snapshot of mercy’s life at the age of 18. The six tracks are written from both personal experiences and observations of others and their experiences. “It was quite a therapeutic process for me to write these songs and I hope they might connect with people who have been through similar experiences,” she shares. It’s due for release on October 16.
