LIBERATOR MUSIC PARTNER WITH PARTISAN RECORDS FOR AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
Liberator Music is extremely excited to announce their new label partnership with indie heavyweights, Partisan Records.

Under the new deal, Liberator Music – the international division of the Mushroom Group – will distribute and offer local label strategy for the Partisan roster, which includes upcoming album releases from IDLES, Fontaines D.C., Pottery and more to come.

Liberator Music’s Founder & Managing Director Nick Dunshea says of the partnership:

“After seeing both IDLES and Fontaines D.C. at Glastonbury 2019, I was completely blown away. Partisan Records are an incredibly exciting, innovative and forward-thinking label who have carved their own niche.  We’re always wanting to work with unique artists and labels, and with Partisan we get both.”
Partisan Records GM, international Jeff Bell says:
“We’ve long been admirers of Nick and the team at Liberator’s work in Australia. As we continue to take a global perspective for all of our artists, we are delighted to be joining forces with a partner who shares our quality over quantity approach, in what is becoming a very exciting market for us and our roster.”
Last week, Partisan / Liberator Music announced the hugely anticipated third album Ultra Mono from IDLES – out on Friday 25 September. The record, featuring singles ‘Mr. Motivator’ and ‘Grounds’, follows their second album Joy As An Act Of Resistance, which was one of the best reviewed rock records of 2018, debuting top 5 on the official UK album charts. Recorded in Paris and produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire) and Adam ‘Atom’ Greenspan (Anna Calvi, Cut Copy), with Kenny Beats (FKA Twigs, DaBaby, Vince Staples) providing additional programming, Ultra Mono was sonically constructed to capture the feeling of a hip-hop record. Across all twelve brutally relevant tracks, the band double down on the vitriolic sneer and blunt social commentary of their past work, with themes of active presence, inclusivity, class, gender inequality, nationalism, community, and toxic masculinity remaining ever-present. Ultra Mono also features guest vocals from Jehnny Beth (Savages), and additional guest contributions from Warren Ellis (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), David Yow, and Jamie Cullum.

Barely a year since their debut Dogrel earned them a spot as one of the most acclaimed new bands of 2019, Dublin’s Fontaines D.C. will return with A Hero’s Death on Friday 31 July. Arriving battered and bruised – albeit beautiful – the album is anything but a re-hash of the swaggering energy from their first record. Instead, the music is patient, confident, and complex – a heady and philosophical take on the modern world and its great uncertainty. Dogrel debuted Top 10 on the UK album charts, earning Fontaines D.C. a Mercury Prize nomination, #1 Album of the Year positions from BBC 6 Music and Rough Trade, a performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and numerous sold out tours in the UK and abroad – including triumphantly selling out London Brixton Academy in just 1 week.

Elsewhere, Montreal buzz-band Pottery will release Welcome to Bobby’s Motel this Friday 26 June – a celebration of rhythm and groove, a testament to music’s power to move us, both emotionally and physically. While their 2019 EP No. 1 was recorded in a frenzied two-day whirlwind, the band found themselves with the rare luxury of time on their hands when it came to make Welcome To Bobby’s Motel, heading into Montreal’s Break Glass studio for ten days with producer Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Snail Mail).

Founded in 2006 by Nick Dunshea, Liberator is also home to some of the world’s most sought after releases from artists such as Childish Gambino, alt-J, Wolf Alice, CHVRCHES, FIDLAR, Garbage, Faith No More, Kylie Minogue, Beach Bunny, Boys Noize, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, The Murder Capital, Day Wave and many more.
