Pronounced “ky-yook-us”, is the monikered homage to a sleepy little seaside town in San Luis Obispo County, not far from their home of Santa Monica, California. Cayucas’ newest single “Jessica WJ” has joined the fan favorites that propelled them to nearly 25 million streams on Spotify, including “High School Lover,” Cayucos,” and “Moony Eyed Walrus,” in their touring set list for the first time since the release of the lively and vivacious first single from their forthcoming new record Real Life.
“Jessica WJ” serves as the first step towards a diverse new album, produced by Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse, Twin Shadow), which highlights the growth of the band over the last three years through dynamic songwriting and a modern approach to production. Scheduled for release in early 2019 on Park The Van Records, the new material, which retains the band’s signature indie sensibilities while expanding their depth into more succinct and crisp pop territory, represents the first release since their 2015 sophomore album Dancing At The Blue. Paired with their debut record Bigfoot, the band has gained exposure on NPR, Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, Stereogum and created two albums that broke the Billboard Independent Chart.
Jump on to Spotify and give them a good hard listen – you will be mesmerised with their dance-pop infused bangers, you’ll be dreaming of dancing at a beach festival with a margarita in hand for hours.
