Today Courtney Barnett shares ‘City Looks Pretty’, the third single from her highly anticipated albumTell Me How You Really Feel.
Following on from the focussed fury of ‘Nameless, Faceless’ and the gorgeously contemplative ‘Need a Little Time’, the new single takes Barnett in an entirely different direction. ‘City Looks Pretty’ has Barnett experimenting with new song structures while delivering one of her most exhilarating guitar performances to date. It’s metronomic drive and squealing lead guitar provide the remarkable sonic foundation from which Barnett sings a melodic exploration of friendship, place and home – “friends treat you like a stranger”, Barnett sings, “And strangers treat you like their best friend”.
A Record Store Day release of ‘City Looks Pretty’ will be available on April 21st, with the 12” double A side also featuring the beautiful ‘Sunday Roast’, also taken from the forthcoming record.
To celebrate the release of Tell Me How You Really Feel, Barnett today also announces her biggest Australian tour to date, taking in shows at The Sydney Opera House and Melbourne’s Festival Hallamongst others. These Australian shows will follow a 3-month global tour taking in iconic venues and festivals through Europe, UK and NorthAmerica.
Tell Me How You Really Feel will be released on May 18th through Barnett’s own label Milk! Recordsand Remote Control Records.
