Sydney rock band C.O.F.F.I.N have released their sixth studio album, Out In Oslo, via p(doom) records, alongside a new video for the album’s focus track, ‘Gettin’ Down’.
The release also arrives with the band’s feature-length documentary, 10,000 Miles From Oslo, which premiered on Rolling Stone and is now available to watch online.
Produced by Declan Mehrtens, known for his work with Amyl and The Sniffers, with vocals co-produced by Jason Whalley of Frenzal Rhomb, Out In Oslo sees C.O.F.F.I.N expand on the sound established across their previous releases. The album retains the grit and energy associated with the band while incorporating broader dynamics, richer textures and a more expansive approach to songwriting.
The album follows the release of singles including ‘13 Days’, C.O.F.F.I.N’s first acoustic track, ‘Sleep In It’ and ‘Think Bad’. Across those releases, the band explored a more varied pace and approach, moving beyond their traditionally wall-of-sound presentation into grooves and arrangements drawing on rock’n’roll influences.
‘Gettin’ Down’ is accompanied by a video directed by C.O.F.F.I.N vocalist Ben Portnoy. The clip presents the band and their friends during a night out, deliberately contrasting the celebratory atmosphere of the visuals with the song’s more troubled subject matter.
Portnoy has previously directed videos for Cutters, Grace Cummings and Stiff Richards, and was recently featured on Rage.
C.O.F.F.I.N formed on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and have built their reputation through an extensive touring history, sharing stages with acts including Amyl and The Sniffers, Viagra Boys and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
Their previous full-length album, Australia Stops, was released in 2023 and received an ARIA nomination for Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Album, as well as a National Live Music Award nomination for Best Hard Rock / Heavy Album.
The accompanying documentary, 10,000 Miles From Oslo, follows more than two decades of C.O.F.F.I.N, from founding members Ben Portnoy and Abijah Rado beginning to perform together at the age of 12 through to the band’s development into an internationally touring live act. The film also features Aaron Moss and Steven “Kosty” Kostogiannis and focuses on the friendships and history behind the band.
With Out In Oslo now released, C.O.F.F.I.N will return to Australia for their biggest headline shows to date in February and March 2027, with dates scheduled for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart. Before that run, the band are scheduled to play the King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard-curated Block Party in Melbourne/Naarm on 18 October 2026.
