Jordan Rakei is heading home.
Following the announcement of his seventh studio album, A Safe Place To Be Wild, the New Zealand-born, Australian-raised artist has locked in a run of Australian and New Zealand headline dates this December, bringing his genre-blurring live show to Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Few artists move between soul, jazz, alternative R&B and orchestral pop as effortlessly as Rakei. Across more than a decade, he’s built a catalogue that refuses to stand still, pairing intricate musicianship with deeply personal songwriting that continues to evolve with every release.
His latest album, arriving October 30 via Fontana, looks set to be his most revealing yet. A Safe Place To Be Wild explores vulnerability, self-acceptance and creative freedom, capturing an artist letting go of expectation in favour of instinct. It’s a record shaped by a transformative year spent as the first resident artist at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios, alongside countless hours creating in his own home studio.
The upcoming tour will see fans experience new material alongside favourites spanning six acclaimed albums, with Rakei’s celebrated live band once again delivering the rich arrangements, improvisation and emotional depth that have made him one of contemporary music’s most captivating performers.
Having collaborated with artists including Loyle Carner, Tom Misch, Bonobo, Nubya Garcia, Femi Koleoso and JUNGLE’s Tom McFarland, Rakei has quietly become one of the defining voices in modern soul. His live résumé is just as impressive, with appearances at Glastonbury, sold-out performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and a reputation for creating shows that feel as intimate as they do expansive.
