“With the combination of the horns and all these other incredible instruments, I wanted the song to be balanced with a modern pop production that creates a fresh and accessible sound. I wanted it to re-imagine classic sounds but in a contemporary context.” Said, William Le Brun.
Written by William along with Phil Turcio and Judd Field, Drowning in a Diamond is a song about a heart stopping moment when you see someone who just takes your breath away and suddenly your mind runs wild with the possibilities of what life could be if only you had the courage to go up to them and speak. It’s about love at first sight, but it’s told from the perspective of someone stuck in their imagination, dreaming up a whole world before they’ve even said hello.
“The title Drowning in a Diamond reflects the overwhelming beauty of that moment. It’s about being just mesmerised by someone so radiant and so dazzling, that it feels like you’re submerged in something untouchable. It’s the feeling that they’re simply too beautiful and too good for you and the fear that you’ll be rejected almost,” adds, Le Brun.
The single is the first offering from Le Brun who has plans to continue to release original music that reflects timeless genres like swing and jazz into today’s world, creating music that feels both nostalgic and new. It’s playful, it’s emotional, and it’s larger than life.
