Following the easing of restrictions announcement yesterday, Untitled Group has just revealed the return of their day parties with Willaris.K & more this March at the Coburg Velodrome. Untitled Group’s day parties have acquired a cult-like following over the years, known for their unique locations, world-class production/stage designs and lineups showcasing the best of local and international talent.
This event will feature an all local lineup including:
Willaris.K
Torren Foot
Made in Paris
Late Nite Tuff Guy
Jordan Brando
KLP
Choomba
Brux
After a tough 2020 this will give domestic artists the opportunity to get back into performing in front of their home crowds and give Victorians a needed glimmer of hope in the live music realm to look forward to in 2021.
Past Untitled Group day parties have included the likes of Claptone, Solomun, MK, Dom Dolla and Patrick Topping.
See the iconic Coburg Velodrome be transformed into a haven of Australian dance music for what’s sure to be one for the books.
Willaris.K
Tastemaker and producer Willaris. K had his triple j supported break-out single “Alchemy” back in 2018 and has never looked back. His sophisticated techno has seen him earn fans in Pete Tong, sell-out shows in Australia and play at festivals including Coachella, Splendour in the Grass, Lollapalooza, Beyond the Valley, Wildlands, Forbidden Fruit and more.
Torren Foot
Perpetually ahead of the curve, house producer Torren Foot was raised on the working docks of Melbourne’s inner west, and is now a fixture of Aussie club culture as one of the countries most in demand touring dj’s – he recently gained international attention following the release of ‘More Life’ topping #1 Beatport overall, support from tastemakers Adam Beyer, Claptone, Mat.Joe, Wax Motif & Destructo to name a few and A-list radio support from triple j.
Made in Paris
Closing 2019 with her most anticipated single ‘Pursuit’, Made in Paris has dominated radio with full rotation and 100+ spins on Triple J, taking top 30 positions weekly on the Australian Shazam Chart and adds to Spotify editorial playlists globally. From her three USA tours to Australia’s most acclaimed warehouses alongside Stephan Bodzin on his 2019 Australian tour, Pitch Music Festival, Beyond The Valley and Splendour In The Grass, the Sydney artist depicts a true deep and dark production journey from studio to stage.
Late Nite Tuff Guy
Late Nite Tuff Guy is a new breed of disco vigilante, prowling the neon streets on a mission from God / David Mancuso to reclaim the clubs and fuck shit up. The scandalous alter-ego of genuine techno legend HMC (known to his momma as Cam Bianchetti), Late Nite Tuff Guy (LNTG) puts the acrimony in acronym, the oh in disco, the amp in camp and the dang in dangerous.
Jordan Brando
Recognised by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong & tastemakers globally, Jordan’s abilities as a DJ and a producer raise no questions to why he is “a rising star in Australian dance music.” Standout performances at revered festivals Beyond the Valley and Pitch Music & Arts, and being handpicked to share the stage with the likes of Patrick Topping to Jamie Jones, have all contributed to solidifying Brando’s name as one Australia’s most promising dance music exports.
KLP
KLP, real name Kristy Lee Peters, is a talented force of the Australian music industry, with credentials that cement her reputation as a multi-faceted industry heavyweight. Between writing and recording her own music, and collaborating with local and international artists, KLP also found time to host the country’s biggest Dance Music radio program, triple j’s House Party every Saturday night for 5 years.
Choomba:
Right on cue for 2019 Choomba came out of the gate with a debut EP that hit #4 on the overall Beatport Release Chart, #2 on the hyper competitive Tech-House Chart, came in at #36 on Australia’s overall Shazam Chart and saw them up for the Triple J Unearthed feature artist spotlight. The follow up single Wantchu took that momentum even further being spot added to Triple J.
Brux
Revel in the realm of BRUX – a turbulent force of brooding rhythms and distorted desires of the human psyche. Equally intimidating as alluring, BRUX confronts notions of fate, materialism and the pursuit of pleasure.

Get Connected:
Where are you currently based?
I live on a little island called Pender Island, on the west coast of BC.
How did you first start playing music?
I started taking classical piano lessons when I was around 5 years old and did that until my teens when I started jazz lessons. It was around that time too that I started writing my own songs, but I didn’t start doing it seriously or performing until after high school.
What’s been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been so far?
I feel pretty lucky to have had a fairly positive Covid experience so far. During the week I work for a local arts organization, so I’ve been able to continue doing that and providing arts programs in the community, and spending lots of time outside to beat the anxiety and uncertainty.
Your new album ‘Memory & Desire’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
Through the writing process I found myself listening to a few contemporary Canadian artists, specifically Jordan Klassen, Rose Cousins and Luca Fogale, as well as more classic artists whose music I was finally discovering including Carole King, Leonard Cohen and Beth Orton. I was really feeling a pull towards a more simplified acoustic sound that would let the story of the song be at the forefront, and each of these artists does that beautifully in their own way.
How did you go about writing the music?
The music for Memory & Desire came very naturally. At the beginning, I was just writing because I couldn’t help myself, and I wasn’t sure how or when an album would take shape, so it felt very organic. A neighbour of mine let me borrow his old tenor guitar (a 4 stringed guitar) and I was so inspired that I decided to buy one for myself. It became the tool I used to write most of the songs on the album, which was a big departure from past albums where I mostly played piano.
Where and when did you record/produce and who with?
My good friend Josh Rob Gwilliam from Calgary, AB produced Memory & Desire. We had worked together on my last album (Dearestly) and since that album had written a handful of songs together, including the second single Dear Forever. We’ve always had a great working relationship, and it was so nice to build on what we had started with Dearestly in a creative sense, but go in quite a different direction. He recorded drums and bass in Calgary and then came out to my home on Pender Island where we recorded the rest of the album.
How did you approach the recording process?
Our vision for the recording process was to keep it very simple. It’s easy to build songs up with layers and layers of sounds and textures, but it’s harder to strip it back and still have it be something really special. Once we had the core vocals and instrument, we would add parts and layers and then remove them from most of the song so what remained was really memorable and intentional.
What programs/equipment did you use?
Part of achieving the organic sound that we were going for meant using all real instruments instead of software samples. I have a house full of keyboards, and we put them to use: the Heintzman upright, an old pump organ, Moog Subphatty, and Roland Juno 60. The album also includes tenor guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, and drums. Josh’s signature Eventide processor helped sculpt a lot of the atmosphere on the album.
Your video for ‘Don’t Make a Mountain’ is out now, how did the concept for the video come about?
Back when the song was still a rough demo, I sent it to my friend Ross Bodenmann, whom I had collaborated with on a few video projects over the years. He came up with the concept of two contrasting characters who are both on different journeys through the song. Though we didn’t end up filming it for about a year after the initial idea, the vision for the video mostly stayed the same.
Where and when did you film and who did you work with?
We filmed the video in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island in late summer 2020. At the time of filming, there were huge forest fires in Washington state, and the smoke had made its way up Vancouver Island. It made for an interesting ambience in the video. Ross directed, filmed and edited the video, and a friend of his, Joshua Hanson, was the other character in the film.
What did you find most challenging and rewarding during the creation of the music video?
The video itself was really enjoyable to film. I played one of the two characters who is embracing a challenge and pushing through, finding wonder and satisfaction in the discoveries made along the way. We filmed it in a park that follows a creek up to a waterfall, so I got to spend the whole afternoon climbing rocks and wading in creek water, which is something I would take great joy in on any day. We filmed the performance piece after, which made for a long day but it was a really fun video to film.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I’ve been cycling through a few albums lately including All That Emotion by Hannah Georgas, Iris by Carmanah, and Sad Hunk by Bahamas.
What do you like to do away from music?
When I’m not playing music, I tend to keep myself quite busy. I really enjoy spending time outside hiking, camping, paddleboarding, or sailing (something new I’ve been learning this year). I love spontaneous get-togethers with friends, and I’m always on the hunt for the best cup of chai tea.
What’s planned for the remainder of 2020 going into 2021?
I have a collection of poems that I’ve written over the past number of years that I’m hoping to turn into a little self-published book. It’s been something I’ve been working on in the background for a while, but I’d love to have it come out in early 2021. I also got engaged recently, so I’m sure the next few months will involve a lot of wedding planning!
Favourite food and place to hangout?
I love all kinds of food, but tacos, perogies, and homemade pie are probably my top favourites. Pender Island doesn’t have too many places to hang out in the evening, so my friends and I spend a lot of time at each other’s houses, or at the beach.
Indie Pop rock band The Dunwells collaborate with New Soul singer-songriter Théa Marie to create an Adèle-esque story about self-love and courage.
‘Settle Down, Love’ is an internal conversation between Théa Marie and her mind that tells her she’s not advancing, that she’ll never accomplish her dreams. By telling that nagging voice to ‘Settle Down’, the singer is reassuring herself that self-doubt and anxiety in fact are necessary and can only make her stronger.
This intimate song starts off with Pop Soul piano chords and Théa Marie’s close-up vocals. We are drawn in from the beginning as the she confides that ‘Something’s wrong, my mind’s telling me’…. As the song progresses, the singer’s solitary voice is joined by rich instrumentals and vocal layers surging up with gospel intensity. By the end, this song is an anthem to courage and determination.
Have you ever felt discouraged or doubted yourself? If so, ‘Settle Down, Love’ is a ‘must hear’. Théa Marie and The Dunwells have composed an inspirational Indie Pop gem that will help you remember that every step you take will bring you to a higher place.
Biography:
Théa, Julianna and Peter all came from different backgrounds with similar childhoods. Their love for soul and rock music undeniably led them to London in 2017. When they met in the same music school, they struck up a sudden friendship from which they created THÉA MARIE.
The band have self named their genre as ‘Modern Soul Rock’ due to Théa’s soulful songwriting and Julianna and Peter’s soul rock instrumentation. Their music is influenced by the likes of Amy Winehouse, The Cardigans and Selah Sue.
Having played acoustic and full band sets in Germany, France and the United Kingdom, they have just released their soulful nostalgic debut album THEN, recorded and mixed in London.

Producer Peter Dallas releases the new single ‘Your Lover’ ahead of his upcoming debut EP ‘The Ballad of Peter Dallas’. The electro indie track offers a chilled yet vibrant soundscape that would sound at home on the soundtrack of any popular coming-of-age show. With shimmering synths, breathy vocals and a pulsating bassline, this dreamy track is indicative of Peter’s immense talent. If the rest of his EP contains tracks as magnetic as ‘Your Lover’, then this is an artist bound for great things.
Speaking of the release, Peter explains: “‘Your Lover’ is an electronic ballad composed between Paris and Los Angeles, tinged with a certain romanticism. It’s a dark but dynamic track, with Italodisco, pop and synthwave tones.”
Peter Dallas is the founder of Goldstein Studio, which has hosted artists such as Kaytranada, Entourage and Hamza. He soon after started making music of his own in Los Angeles, where he was signed to the label bORDEL Records. With electric melodies and sparkling synths, fans will delightedly ingest ‘Your Lover’ as they eagerly await Peter Dallas’ forthcoming EP.
Singer, songwriter and visual artist Keeya drops her debut EP ‘Paradise’ today. Fans of Beyoncé, Sade and Lauryn Hill take note as the Bahamian artist uses personal experiences as a muse for some beautifully crafted RnB here, which is both radio-friendly and innovative.
Written and recorded in LA and at herhome in Nassau – Bahamas, the four-track offering is packed full of ammusing stories from a female’s POV, soulful vocals, wavy synths, crispy 808s and enough bottom end to satisfy all lovers of bass genres. Keeya’s melodic approach to song writing is evident as she mixes Caribbean influences with progressive sounds and which coupled with her flair for visuals set her alternative RnB apart.
Three tracks from the EP were produced by Maestro The Baker (whose credits include Rihanna, Jay1 and J Hus). The lead single ‘I Got You’ sees the pair deliver a slice of contemporary RnB which drips with sun-drenched positivity as Keeya proclaims ‘I GOT YOU!’ to her family, friends and community. Explaining further she says: “It’s about striving. It’s about how we take care of each other. If nobody else got us, we got us.”
Title track ‘Paradise’ was one born out of a DIY ethic that Keeya is all about. Written and recorded in LA at Maestro The Baker’s home, it is described as ‘one is for the girls’, as it celebrates how the barriers are beginning to be torn down for women in music. Keeya explains:
“Right now in music, I see women having fun again, and that makes me so happy. Women should have the space to be upfront about the things they like and the things they desire. As soon as we finished the demo it felt like a party. Everyone was dancing and vibing.”
Listen to ‘Paradise’ EP in full here:
“Music was the only thing that made me feel alive. It helped me figure out who I was at a time where I felt really lost.”
‘Paradise’ is out 23rd October and Keeya has promised to drop other music videos from the project, so we look forward to those!
Plants and Animals’ brand new album The Jungle is out now via Secret City Records / Remote Control. To celebrate, the band will host a listening event on YouTube and will be chatting live with fans as they listen to the record in its entirety. The event will begin on Friday 23 October at 3PM ET / Saturday 24 October at 6AM AEDT. Click here to join.
Exclaim! gave the record four stars: “The Jungle, […] clearly displays its references; this album’s transmutations, however, are the band’s most consistently sublime and seem to have been rendered effortlessly in comparison to previous work. With The Jungle, Plants and Animals claim a more definitive and cogent sense of identity, maximizing a talent for both interpretation and invention.” Rolling Stone France stated that the new album is bold: “The opus revolves around eight songs with a strong message. These musical snapshots offer a panoramic view of what the year 2020 was, its social and political crises, then the COVID-19 epidemic. The ample, solid production catches the ear and demands curiosity and attention, with its intelligent arrangements full of subtleties.” Shakenstir calls it “optimum entertainment.” Since last June the band has released four tracks from the new album. Consequence of Sound stated: “Early singles like “House on Fire” and “Sacrifice” portended a collection of catchy but chaotic sonic landscapes. The latest sample of the effort, “Le Queens,” offers a counterpoint to that aural bedlam — with a touch of Quebecois,”.
The Jungle starts with electronic drums that sound like insects at night. A whole universe comes alive in the dark. It’s beautiful, complex and unsettling. Systematic and chaotic. All instinct, no plan. Voices taunt, “yeah, yeah, yeah”. This tangled time in which we find ourselves is reflected back in shadows.
Every song is such a landscape. The first one grinds to a halt and you become a kid looking out a car window at the moon, wondering how it’s still on your tail as you speed past a steady blur of trees. You watch a house go up in a yellow strobe that echoes the disco weirdness of Giorgio Moroder, Donna Summer and David Bowie. You get pummeled by a rhythm then set free by a sudden change of scenery—the wind stops, clarity returns. You’re under a streetlight in Queens, soft focus, slow motion, falling in love. You speak French now too, in case you didn’t already. Bienvenue.
These are personal experiences made in a volatile world, and they reflect that world right back at us, even by accident. There’s one song Nic sings to his teenage son who was dealing with climate change anxiety and drifting into uncharted independence. The band carries it out slowly together into a sweet blue horizon. Warren wrote the words to another shortly after losing his father. It’s about the things we inherit not necessarily being the things we want. In a broader sense, that’s where a lot of people find themselves right now.
Plants and Animals are an iconic Montreal-based trio that began playing together as kids and emerged on the international scene in 2008 with Parc Avenue. The band has developed a varied cult following ever since, built on the shoulders of their self-produced records and their intense live shows. Parc Avenue was a critically acclaimed record (Pitchfork 8/10) released during the famous Montreal-is-the-new-Seattle music moment. This release set Plants and Animals as an incredible live force, a powerful songwriting trio and opened doors for them to tour the world many times over with people like Portugal. The Man, Gnarls Barkley and more. Three other releases followed and kept the band’s status up high: La La Land (2010) “they’re complicated and gorgeous [songs] and feel as innate as desire itself.” (Paste Magazine), The End of That (2012) “vibrant, constantly rewarding” (Spin) and Waltzed in from the Rumbling (2016) “… the strike rate is remarkably high” ★★★★ (Q Magazine). The band was shortlisted (2008) and longlisted (2010) for the Polaris Music Prize and received multiple Juno Awards and ADISQ Awards nominations over the years.

The first single previewed off the group’s forthcoming third studio record, due for release in 2021, ‘Broken System’ is a searing anthem that takes aim at those who are unwilling to acknowledge their own complicity or work to dismantle systems and legacies of white supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, environmental degradation and more that have led the world to where it is now. Over a driving bass line, blistering guitars and vocals that oscillate from smearing and indignant to cavernous and portentous, ‘Broken System’ is a sub-three minute distillation of These New South Whales’ career to date, marrying the uncompromising punk ethics of their earliest material with the infectious accessibility of their recent output.
‘Broken System’ is the group’s first piece of new material since the release of their second LP, 2019’s I Just Do What God Tells Me To Do, which won the Sydney punks international praise from theneedledrop, triple j, The Line of Best Fit, Kerrang!, Mojo Magazine and more, while also showcasing the band’s rapidly maturing songwriting and a more sunnied, poppier exterior to their punk hearts.
Launching alongside the release of ‘Broken System’ is news of their upcoming comedy series which will broadcast live to air on YouTube. Following the cult success of their Comedy Central mockumentary, These New South Whales are back with an entirely new comedy series – TNSW Tonight! Think Eric Andre meets Tim Heidecker’s On Cinema. Playing parodied versions of themselves, the band members somehow land their own talk show, complete with house band (These New South Whales) and frontman Jamie Timony as host. Channeling their years of showbiz experience and industry acumen, the band will attempt to chew the fat and match their minds with some of our time’s most influential celebrities and rockstars, but in true TNSW fashion, are likely to completely blow it.
Of their latest series, Timony shares: “We can’t wait to thrust ourselves into this iconic television format. I’ve always admired Rove McManus and now I get to be him. I hope your wig has a chin strap, because your haircut’s coming off!” TNSW Tonight! will air live to Youtube weekly on Tuesdays at 9pm, the first episode debuts on October 27.
Following two full-length studio albums, two seasons of their mockumentary series and the success of their hilarious but earnest, fly-on-the-wall interview podcast What A Great Punk, TNSW Tonight! will add yet another branch to the multidisciplinary These New South Whales creative universe, the likes of which Australian music has never seen before.

SUPPORT FOR ‘DON’T BLINK’
“With pummeling guitar, formidable bars and a hard hitting, swaggering bass, ‘Don’t Blink’ is a total heater.”
– Purple Sneakers (AUS)
Following on from his critically praised single ‘Funny Business’, Canberra-based hip hop artist Citizen Kay has returned with his up front new single ‘Don’t Blink’ – produced by the artist himself.
Opening with irresistible bass riffs and ominous police sirens, ‘Don’t Blink’ quickly drops into Kay’s distinctive delivery showcasing his deft dynamic range. As Kay’s performance crescendo’s the track builds in intensity accentuating the lyrical message of a powerful example of exquisite hip-hop.
Citizen Kay talks about the motivation behind ‘Don’t Blink’:
“It’s basically about complacency. There can be a very fine line between being understanding or patient and being complacent. There’s a time for silence and observation and a time for action and blunt conversation. Both are necessary. This is me exploring my potential complacency and questioning my next moves, questioning my motives and questioning my actions.”
Citizen Kay’s albums ‘Demokracy’ and ‘With The People’ were both nominated for an ARIA award in the ‘Best Urban Album’ category; the former was also nominated for an AIR award for ‘Best Independent Hip-Hop Album Release’. A performance soon followed on triple j’s esteemed ‘Like A Version’ segment and was met with praise by fans and critics alike.
Previous releases have also been strongly supported by Spotify, Apple Music, Complex, Pilerats, Purple Sneakers, Cool Accidents, AUD’$, Acid Stag and NME, with video clips added to rotation on ABC’s Rage. He’s also had multiple tracks added to rotation on triple j and extensive play across community radio.
His three albums, including his last ‘Belly Of The Beast‘, received top 10 placings on the US College Hip Hop charts and the single ‘Ego’ broke into the top 20 of the US NACC Singles chart. In the UK, the single picked up regional and community radio plays.
Citizen Kay has toured the country extensively, supporting hip hop luminaries Public Enemy, Run The Jewels, Ice Cube, Danny Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Earl Sweatshirt and Australian crowd favourites ILLY, Tkay Maizda and Seth Sentry. He’s also made appearances at Australian mainstay events Falls Festival and Groovin’ The Moo.
In the coming weeks, Citizen Kay will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Don’t Blink’ directed by long-time collaborator Nic Vevers.

Releasing some of their most personal material yet, Perth’s Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks release their new EP, Songs For A Long Walk.
A collection of moving and authentic indie-folk music, Songs For A Long Walk shines a light on the group’s defined musical identity, led by songwriter Jack Davies’ unwavering strength as a vocalist and songwriter.
Six tracks recorded at the beginning of 2020, Songs For A Long Walk were created before the world was plunged into a prolonged stage of limbo, yet when listening to the songs now in the midst of it, the comfort and warmth they exude are second to none.
From it listeners have already heard ‘Loving You’s Like A Mouldy Cup of Tea’ and ‘Half Frozen Beer’, both strong compositions on their own, yet Songs For A Long Walk shines across the other four tracks too. Evoking the likes of Jacob Diamond, Courtney Barnett and Tom Odell in songwriting and nuanced delivery, the Songs For A Long Walk EP is inviting and intimate in the soundscapes it creates.
This is a record that shows Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks at their best, and for newcomers to the group, Songs For A Long Walk is the perfect wait to become acquainted with them.
Recorded at RADA Studios in Perth, the band were able to properly immerse themselves in the old warehouse set up, with the addition of some beautiful upright pianos that helped form the final sound of the EP. For Jack, the experience has inspired him for future recordings.
“We were able to just have fun with all these incredible instruments and microphones and record whatever we liked. Dan Carroll, who engineered and mixed the EP, has such a huge insight into recording and music in general. Working together changed my perspective on a lot of things in the recording world, I’m grateful for that. The whole process has given me so much inspiration to dig right into the next record and explore all these new ideas fully.” Jack Davies
The closeness of the band and their natural ability as players together shines throughout the EP, as it does on single ‘Half Frozen Beer’. Sharing the music video for this song, Jack Davies worked alongside photographer and videographer Annie Harvey in bringing this one to life.
Filmed in Perth during WA’s late stages of lockdown, the ‘Half Frozen Beer’ music video features Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks, albeit in a different format to normal.
“It was a rather lonely time, so I just mulled around my house recording bits ‘n bobs. We couldn’t be in groups, so we couldn’t film with my bandmates directly. Instead, I went and stood out the front of their houses and jammed along with them by their windows, kind of a play on the song and the idea of being together. It was really down to the magic of Annie Harvey’s video work that brought it together; I’m stunned by how beautiful the colours and composition of the shots came out, the band just danced around!” Jack Davies
Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks have been garnering acclaim for their music around the country, while also attracting industry praise too, having a WAM and SOTY award to their name, as well as a National Live Music Award for WA’s Best Live Act. Their brand of indie-folk music has drawn over 1.5 million streams on Spotify alone; while also emerging as a formidable touring force, with audiences around the country embracing them as headliners and supporting the likes of Tash Sultana, Weyes Blood and San Cisco.
Off the back of their debut EP Cleaning The Dishes in 2019, Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks became a dynamic force in the WA scene, significant examples of their presence being in their ability to draw almost 500 to the modest Clancy’s Fish Pub in Fremantle and an unprecedented crowd of over 2,000 to the Fremantle Arts Centre their ‘Sunday Music Sessions’ show.
The past couple of months have seen the band return to performing to sold out crowds across the state, as restrictions continue to ease in Western Australia.
PRAISE FOR JACK DAVIES AND THE BUSH CHOOKS
“Every so often a voice captures a moment in time. Slow, melodic and deliberate songwriting that evokes quintessential West Australian imagery, Jack Davies is the voice of a new generation of Perth storytellers.”
RTRFM 92.1
“The west is having a real moment right now and Jack Davies is right there at the tip of the community’s songwriting wellspring.”
Triple J Unearthed, Dave Ruby Howe
“I was thinking to myself today, wondering who of the modern Australian songwriters writing gentle, folk inspired songs have what it takes to be remembered in the long term, and I reckon Jack might be one of them. His songs cut straight to the core and put you in a time and place you didn’t know you were missing.”
Triple J Unearthed, Tommy Faith
“This has my vote as a replacement for the national anthem. Quick witted and clever prose with that lingering banjo and harmonica, Jack is a next gen bush balladeer and I’m in awe.”
