SIR WINSTON unveils hypnotic new single ‘PERFECTLY NUMB’ Fuelling the indie-sleaze resurgence, a second taste of debut EP.

by the partae July 5, 2023
written by the partae

Sir Winston, the electronic maverick, known for his captivating blend of indie-sleaze and infectious dance beats, is back with a new single, ‘Perfectly Numb.’ The anticipated track serves as the second tantalizing preview of his forthcoming  EP, ‘Démons à Combattre,’ slated for release later this year. Building on the success of his previous single, ‘Sex in Paris,’ Sir Winston continues to captivate listeners with his unique sonic vision.

“Perfectly numb is a state of self-induced deluded reality. A moment where you’re between worlds, unable to function or react. Alone in a strange but content peace. Beyond all limits – at a point of no immediate return.” Sir Winston

Perfectly Numb envelops listeners in an electro-hazy dance-floor soundscape that evokes the spirit of 2010’s indie-sleaze peak, drawing inspiration from acclaimed acts such as LCD Soundsystem & MGMT, with a hint of darker rock elements – à la Nine Inch Nails, and the upbeat drive of classic New Order.

With this release, Sir Winston re-affirms the resurgence of the decade defining bloghaus genre propelling it into the present with a fresh and compelling perspective.

Recorded at Transmitter Studios in Brooklyn, New York, ‘Perfectly Numb’ was brought to life by Sir Winston and his longtime collaborator and fellow producer, Abe Seiferth (RAC, Car Seat Headrest, Yeasayer).

“Everything flowed and ran like a dream making Perfectly Numb. We had found the new sound we were after. Completing it was total joy – I left the studio that day beaming. I love the arpeggiated synth riff – the track grew from that riff and the bass line. Dropping guitar solos over the track was so much fun. I’d been talking about the state of being “Perfectly Numb” with a friend the night before, and when the synth part was looping in the studio I yelled “this is making me perfectly numb” – Booooooom!” Sir Winston

Sir Winston is a prolific and diverse artist who thrives on the affinity between music and fashion. His music has been used in large-scale fashion campaigns including NIKE, VOGUE, Victoria’s Secret & Maybelline. He’s also designed and dropped several sustainable clothing collections under the name Sir Winston, culminating in a recent Pop-Up installation on the Lower East Side in Manhattan New York. His previous single ‘Sex in Paris’ garnered significant airplay on prominent radio stations such as Aussie Music Weekly, Coast FM, Joy FM, Phoenix FM, Southern FM, 2SER, 89.7FM, and 107.3FM. With ‘Perfectly Numb,’ he aims to captivate an even broader audience, taking his music to new heights.

This latest single serves to build anticipation for the release of Sir Winston’s debut EP ‘Démons à Combattre’. With his infectious energy, hypnotic melodies, and enticing lyrics, this single, like the ones before it, promises to be an electrifying addition to the electronic music landscape.

New Age Fruits

by the partae July 4, 2023
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

Sans Souci, Sydney.

What’s been happening recently?

Earlier this year we scored support gigs for British India and Telanova, and also made our festival debut which has been unbelievable! More recently we’ve been celebrating the release of our new single and getting practice in for our single launch gig coming up.

Your latest single ‘Uncharted’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

Our main influences come from bands like Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Foo Fighters, Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who did you work with?

Recorded a couple of months ago at Def Wolf Studios at Kurnell. The song was recorded and produced by Daniel Antix and mastered by George Georgiadis.

How did the concept for the music video come about?

Marty is a Carpenter and built a door to hang in different locations to bring the lyrics in the chorus “take me hand and walk with me through the door…” to life. We come up with all our ideas over beers hanging out all together- we have brainstorming sessions and just come up with plenty of hilarious dumb ideas until something sticks!

Where and when did you film and who did you work with?

We filmed a month ago in Kurnell in the National park which gave us several great locations to film, also Wanda Sandhills and finally on top of a car park in Cronulla. We worked with Manning Chai, an incredibly talented local guy.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Foo Fighters, Greta Van Fleet, Deftones, Telenova, British India, The Buoys, Lil Uzi Vert just to name a few!

What’s planned for the remainder of 2023?

We are going to focus on recording and putting our debut EP out next which we are very excited for- Hopefully it’s out before the end of the year! And a couple of shows in the near future too.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Definitely our local pub, far too often hahaha

New Age Fruits (Sydney) Release ‘Uncharted’ Video

by the partae July 2, 2023
written by the partae

New Age Fruits are a young Indie band who have dropped a killer single in ‘Uncharted’

https://blackvial.lnk.to/Uncharted

After honing their craft as a covers band playing locally inspired by the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Kings Of Leon, The Strokes, and Catfish And The Bottlemen, last year New Age Fruits focused on their original material releasing debut single ‘Clearest Blue’.

New Age Fruits have also notched a number of impressive support gigs including British India and Telenova. Now they’re ready to take the covers off their sophomore single, ‘Uncharted’.

The song springs to life with Brit-pop flavoured gleaming guitars and a smooth, silky rhythm section that maintains the song’s spacious flow that brings to mind 2000s heroes Evermore.

Martin’s vocals provide a harmonious tone while the mid-song breakdown creates the sonic space for a sizzling guitar solo that’s reminiscent of early Powderfinger.

SHADY NASTY DIG DEEPER ON NEW SINGLE ‘G-SHOCK’ + TOURING EAST COAST THIS JULY

by the partae July 1, 2023
written by the partae

PRAISE FOR SHADY NASTY

“The trio’s sound is as inscrutable as ever: lyrics are written like text exchanges between
gym junkies while the instrumentals are jenga towers of hip-hop beats,
slowcore guitars and punk vocals
“
NME

“Jittery and tense blasts of sketchy rock that sounds like kids born in the late 90s have
discovered some early Helmet or Mark of Cain records. This is good rowdy stuff”

VICE

“The Australian trio’s sound can turn on a dime between ethereally pretty and menacingly dark”
Kerrang!

“The atmosphere is unsettling in a similar way to Show Me The Body’s songs”
Stereogum

“Rare units and they’re not afraid to mess with your ears“
Dave Ruby Howe (triple j Unearthed)

“When people say there’s no band quite like Shady Nasty in Australia,
it’s not some hyperbole or over-exaggeration”

Pilerats

Shady Nasty, Eora / Sydney’s cult alt-punk trio debut their latest single ‘G-SHOCK’ ahead of their upcoming east coast tour in July. LISTEN + WATCH HERE.

‘G-SHOCK’ is an extension of classic Shady Nasty teemed with their most overtly personal vignettes yet. Skittish guitars sketch deeper than before, playing with pop-punk riffs and harpsichord as vocalist Kevin Stathis dreams of twilight moments spent with his most prized automobile obsession – at the behest of the every day that interrupts those moments. ‘G-SHOCK’ revels in his desire to get to his next drive, toying with the edges of hobby, passion and infatuation, his vocals as detached and dissociated as ever, stocky in sound and stature.

Produced by The Presets’ Kim Moyes, the single straddles a prelude to the cost of every upgrade and car mod – and its justification at any cost – against yearning for the early discovery of an untapped subculture, memories bumming around Liverpool gripped by a Hulk-like chokehold. In their own words, “G-SHOCK is the next chapter of Kevin’s blinding obsession with hotted up cars. The tedium of daily life is clouded by accelerated visions of yet another modification and stretch of empty asphalt.”

Shady Nasty is a band that operates on an oxymoron – a post-punk outfit whose most popular songs (‘Get Buff‘, ‘R0LL1N’ H1LLZ‘, ‘PRETTYB0YZ‘) circulate on calm, sombre melodies that balance both electronic and hip hop driven impulses. Anthropologists of their own world, their music is rife with intelligent observations about the burgeoning algorithm of life. Their recent single ‘CHEST HEIGHT’ is just one of many examples of Shady Nasty’s abilities to refract growing pains into social commentary through their enduring motif – a serious, long-term relationship with cars.

Their second EP CLUBSMOKE, a blurry-eyed meditation on vlogging, gymming, clubbing and clout, the group saw international acclaim from NME, Stereogum, Kerrang, DIY, New Noise, BPM, and locally from triple j’s Home and Hosed, Something More and Unearthed, FBi Radio, 2SER, RAGE, Pilerats and Purple Sneakers. Its success took the group to their debut UK/EU tour with a sold-out Oxford Art Factory home show, full of devout adherents that propelled a heaving mosh. Now in 2023 Shady Nasty steady for their next gear shift.

‘G-SHOCK‘ is out now, buy/stream it here.

McDermott & North Unveil ‘The Hollywood EP’ – A Melodic Celebration of Love and Connection Out June 30 via Weirder Together Records

by the partae July 1, 2023
written by the partae

Previous Support for McDermott & North

“this is such feel good 60s tinged pop that backs up the positive spin on bad stuff happening message with a sunny sounding song.”
4 / 5 (Declan Byrne, Triple J) [About ‘All Things Come And Go’]

“After jamming out to ‘All Things Come and Go’ for months, I thought I’d better explore the McD & N back catalogue, and I’m not disappointed! This is gorgeous, and just affirms my love for McDermott & North! These guys are all class.”
(Lachie Pringle, Triple J) [About ‘All Things Come And Go’]

“Definitely hearing the Kinks influence here. I can’t give higher praise than that. Really lovely classic songwriting: a little bit sunny, a little bit wistful, a joy to have in the ears.”
(Dan Condon, Triple J) [About ‘All Things Come And Go’]

“Patrick McDermott and Rhys North, have spent the past number of years carving out a sound that feels both grounded and explorative; it’s rooted in an earnest kind of folky warmth, but stretches into spaces of pure melodic ecstasy. Seriously, these guys really know how to write a chorus.”
(Happy Magazine)

“Clearly dedicated to the preservation of the song…”
(Gary Crowley, BBC Radio)

“A slice of gorgeous, blissful pop”
(Mark Rogers, RNZ)

McDermott & North, the captivating indie folk duo known for their heartfelt sounds and irresistible melodies, are set to release their EP, ‘The Hollywood EP’. Slated for release on June 30 via Weirder Together Records, the EP promises to be a beautiful celebration of love, connection, and the beauty of everyday moments.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2016, McDermott & North have been winning hearts with their busking performances and beautiful songs. The duo already have a stack of singles and an EP, countless tours and hundreds of hours of performing under their belts, including having played at Bluesfest, BIGSOUND and Ted X Brisbane.

The unknown slow boil of ‘The Hollywood EP’ began in 2021 when the duo caught the attention of acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter and producer Ben Lee, who stumbled upon the two stylish troubadours singing in perfect 60s folk harmony. Little did they anticipate that this serendipitous encounter would pave the way for a remarkable collaboration resulting in the creation of this EP and one of the first releases for the new label Weirder Together Records run by Lee and his partner, Ione Skye.

After supporting Ben Lee at a show in Brisbane, he invited them to record with him in LA. Though recording in Los Angeles wasn’t feasible, McDermott & North entrusted Ben Lee with their guitar and vocal stems to complete the EP. Ben Lee rallied an exceptional team to contribute their expertise, including Joey Waronker on drums (Beck, Roger Waters, REM), Roger Manning Jr on keys (Jellyfish, Glen Campbell, U2, Broken Social Scene), and Mike Viola on bass (Panic at the Disco, Dawes, Ryan Adams). It is a credit to McDermott & North that their songs were enough to draw a team like this together.

Reflecting on their collaboration with Ben Lee, Rhys North shared, “Working with Ben was an exhilarating experience filled with excitement and anticipation. From our Melbourne studio, we sent him the stems of our guitar and vocal tracks, which he transformed into fully produced songs from his Hollywood studio. When we received the final tracks, I was instantly captivated by the remarkable production. Each song possesses its own unique personality, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.”

Paddy McDermott added, “Collaborating with Ben Lee was an absolute joy. Despite the distance between us, our musical connection was seamless. We recorded the guitar and vocals in Melbourne and entrusted Ben to add the other instrumental layers with his expertise and musical brilliance. Working with someone I’ve admired for years was a dream come true, and his creative input elevated the project to new heights.”

The outcome beautifully showcases McDermott & North’s remarkable talent for weaving enchanting melodies and poetic lyrics that effortlessly transport listeners to bygone eras and evoke a kaleidoscope of emotions, with each track unfolding a captivating story that intricately weaves together a tapestry of sound and sentiment.

‘The Hollywood EP’
opens with the upbeat swooning energy ‘Pearly Whites’ that finds the duo transported to the glamorous ballrooms of the 1930s. McDermott & North’s pin-point harmonies and merry lyrics paint a vivid picture of a remarkable woman who reigns as the queen of the ballroom. The nostalgic charm and timeless allure of ‘Pearly Whites’ is an endearing throwback to an era of elegance.

Following is ‘Just Let Your Love Shine Down’, an optimistic and vibrant track that serves as an analogy of embracing one’s inner light and sharing it with the world. McDermott & North’s guiding force encourages listeners to let their love radiate outward, symbolized by holding hands, embracing opportunities, and celebrating their love. Bursting with feel-good energy in the chorus, they convey a powerful message of embracing love, facing life’s challenges with positivity, and living life with passion and purpose.

Lowering the energy and dynamics on EP is the solemn and passionate ‘Mary St’. Amidst the bustling city life, McDermott & North tell a tale of fascination and longing for someone who stands out amidst the urban chaos. The city lights and sirens keep the North awake, finding solace in moments shared and multiple cigarettes. The chorus beautifully expresses the unique qualities of this special person, while the desire to hold, kiss, and cherish them echoes from the 28th floor. ‘Mary St’ becomes a symbol of hope and anticipation for a future encounter, weaving a heartfelt narrative.

Closing the EP is ‘I Love Your Way’, a heartfelt and tender song that beautifully captures deep affection and longing. The slow strolling track opens with just acoustic guitar and McDermott’s vocals backed by North’s falsetto harmonies before the outpouring of love in the chorus that shares the desire to be close to someone, to hold their hand and be their devoted partner. The energy of the band and repeated line of “I love your way” emphasizes the intensity of these feelings and the yearning for a deep connection with someone special.

At its core, ‘The Hollywood EP’ is a celebration of love’s extraordinary ability to elevate the human spirit and ignite the fires of inspiration. McDermott & North have poured their hearts and souls into crafting these songs, infusing them with a profound sense of sincerity and a genuine desire to connect with their audience. The two earnestly hope these songs become cherished companions, offering solace, joy, and a reminder of the limitless power that love holds to transform our lives.

Grab a partner and plunge into a shared journey of love, music, and the unbreakable bond that connects us as human beings. Heartstrings will be strummed and spirits lifted as McDermott & North’s ‘The Hollywood EP’ is released on June 30 via Weirder Together Records.

As much a band, as it is an opportunity to reimagine rock and roll, Mindy Sins prides itself on their inclusion of all their musical influences – whether it be blues, rock, or metal, nothing is off the table when the band writes their music. Led by singer and guitarist Armando Leibeck, the band is backed by Colin Hassell’s loud, over the top and yet tasteful style on the drum kit, and Alessandro Zita’s cool and collected bass playing leaves space for the group while holding down the groove. For Leibeck, Mindy Sins is a way to be the person he always wanted to be growing up. The music is all about the guitar, the noise, the passion, the energy, the ability to let out everything and more on each stage and stereo the band reaches.

Jesse Boyle Interview

by the partae June 24, 2023
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

I’m currently living in Los Angeles!

What’s been happening recently?

Well, a lot! I have just recently returned from Brazil and Mexico following a Chase Atlantic headline tour! It was such a fantastic experience to visit those countries for the first time and I can’t wait to go back! I also had the pleasure to release my new Short Film (UN) Justify which I’m really happy that it’s finally out in the world.

Please tell us about any projects that you’ve been working on:

Right now, I’m working on a couple of feature – length scripts which I’m very excited about. One is based off my most recent short film ‘(UN) Justify’ and the other, a sci-fi epic. Additionally, I’ve started shooting a feature documentary that I’m really excited about involving a number of incredible, talented and smart humans!

How did you get into film/directing?

I’ve always been obsessed with Film. However, I never gave myself permission to look too much into it from a young age. I kind of put myself in a box with my own self-limiting beliefs at the time and really just focused on being a musician.

During Covid however, I found myself going through a particularly troublesome time after a special relationship ended. This is what led me to write my first short film ‘You Are The Ocean’ and deep dived into how to actually make a film myself by watching interviews and kind of self-teaching how it all works.

Best memories in directing/film so far?

I think just the ability to see the words you’ve written on paper come to life on camera is a really liberating thing. Writers rack their minds and souls when putting the words on the page and it’s a very vulnerable experience to not only have an actor embody those characters and speak those words, but also for the world to be exposed to those thoughts and feelings.

That, and also singing with Zero Gravity Management and my manager Jermaine was a really amazing feeling and I can’t wait for the years to come and see what we will accomplish together.

What are you most excited about achieving/biggest goals for the year ahead and beyond?

For this year I’m really looking forward to continuing to shoot this Documentary and get these two scripts done. I’ve also got another Short Film that I’m very eager to shoot in the meantime in which I’m currently putting the final touches on!

How has drumming in Chase Atlantic influenced your directing?

I think one informs the other. While drumming I feel an incredible tribal-ness come out and let a lot of emotional expression take reign. This creates even more room for a more vulnerable and emotional side of myself to come out when writing.

The show also really revolves around a story and a ‘universe’ that has been created. So there’s lots of storytelling in the shows which keeps the creative juices flowing amongst all of us.

What would you like people to take away from your films/directing work?

Once someone watches a film, or listens to a song, it becomes theirs. I want them to take something, anything, out of what I make and make it their own.

I try to create thought-provoking works that may sometimes make people feel uncomfortable. In all honesty it’s something I’m probably working through myself and this is the only way I know.

There’s a place for pure entertainment, fun and relaxing for sure, but I also think  it’s important for us as a society as a whole to sometimes absorb art that speaks on a more thought-provoking and challenging level and take moments to reflect and discuss.

That is, after all, one of the magical things about making art and why storytelling is our species’ oldest traditions.

How is the film industry different compared to the music industry?

Well, the film industry has a lot more people at play to get something done. Similarly to music, when writing, it is a solo thing that you can do by yourself. However, shooting something takes a lot of talented people to be involved. From actors, producers, crew, the list goes on. But the bigger things get and the more elaborate you desire your shoot, the more people it requires. It’s a super collaborative medium. However, technology is so good these days you can shoot anything with a few friends and make it work with your iPhone. It really just depends on what you, as a director, see as the vision and what the best way is to execute that vision.

On the other hand, the Music world differs in this aspect, especially Chase Atlantic. The most compelling work was made in a bedroom studio and minimal overheads. Everything is in house, self produced, self written, self recorded. So getting the actual product done takes a lot less people than you would need to shoot a film.

Highlights of living in LA?

Well, i’ve been fortunate enough to be coming to and from LA for the most part of the last 8 years, so it’s always felt like a home to me. I’ve made incredible friends here which i’m very thankful for. I think the most inspiring thing about being here is the pace and the talent. Everyone you meet is really the best at what they do. The city is a melting pot of creative ideas and excellent execution and you can’t help but let that drive rub off on you.

That, and I was ordering a burger from a store the other day and Christopher Nolan was standing right in front of me. Very LA haha.

Favourite directors/influences?

Christopher Nolan and Denis Villenuce have to be my most influential currently-working directors. Their work speaks for itself.

However, when I write or conceptualize a film or screenplay, I still draw heavily on my musical brain and use a lot of score to get the juices flowing. This is where Johan Johannson’s composition work really influences my style, as well as the composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. If you’re not familiar I urge you to check out their work.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2023?

Lots. Of. Writing. This year so far really has been setting up the years to come with a large body of screenplays to draw from and concepts to develop. I want to shoot a new short as a proof of concept for another feature too which I’m really excited about.

Other than that, I will be embarking to London and Europe in September to perform at Reading and Leeds festival as well as Lollapalooza Berlin with Chase Atlantic. They’re both historical festivals and it’ll be the first time playing on both main stages, so I think everyone is keen for those!

There’s a couple of other things in the works, but that has to stay hush hush for now ;).

Favourite food and place to hangout?

I do love my local coffee shop Oaks Cafe here in LA, but I’ve also got to say the food at the new Birds Street Club is to die for. There’s also a little dive bar called ‘The Woods’ which is a great spot for a drink and hang. I should probably have a loyalty card to the place by now.

Known for their innate talent for crafting beautifully written songs, the Western Australian-based duo, The Money War, have released their heartrending new EP ‘I Don’t Hear You Anymore’ (Friday, June 23).

Infusing their music with unwavering sincerity, Dylan Ollivierre and Carmen Pepper skillfully blend elegant pop purity with the resolute spirit of indie rock and folk, resulting in captivating melodies and refined production that eloquently capture their intricate experiences.

In ‘I Don’t Hear You Anymore’, The Money War demonstrates their adeptness at navigating tender stories of love, loss, change, and the desperate need for self-expression. This collection of songs, which is both authentic and relatable, allows The Money War to express their innermost thoughts and emotions as they navigate the challenges of raising three young children. Each track on the EP offers a unique and heartfelt experience, beautifully encapsulating the duo’s emotive lyricism and undeniable talent, and showcasing their profound artistic depth.

Speaking about the tracks on the EP, Dylan Ollivierre notes, “The songs are special to me because they remind me of moments in the last year where I felt desperate to express myself.” As a full-time producer who is consistently occupied with other people’s music, time dedicated to The Money War is limited. Ollivierre further explains, “Every now and then, I have this insatiable desire to create something that embodies my own vision and expresses Carmen and me as The Money War. In the past, we often had numerous songs to choose from, but nowadays, with three young kids, our time has significantly decreased. Therefore, a song only progresses beyond the ‘idea’ stage if it strongly demands to be realized.”

Fittingly, the EP opens with the celestial and laid-back energy of the title track, ‘I Don’t Hear You Anymore’. This track, anchored by gently finger-picked acoustic guitar and featuring the soothing melodies of Dylan Ollivierre complemented by Carmen Pepper in the choruses, sets an ominous yet hopeful tone, paving the way for the emotional journey that follows.

The next offering is the collaboration with Melbourne’s FEELDs titled ‘Was It Ever Really Anything?’. Seamlessly blending dreamy indie-folk stylings, this track builds upon The Money War’s signature sound, incorporating gritty blues guitar, enchanting harmonies, and an enthralling slide guitar solo, culminating in a vivid final chorus adorned with layers of vocal lines.

Redefining the rules of modern folk-pop, The Money War presents ‘Ride’, a minimalist track characterized by stripped-back guitar and vocals. Inspired by the beauty of living in the present moment, Dylan Ollivierre’s lead vocals, accompanied by Carmen Pepper’s harmonies, create a lulling and easy-going atmosphere, embodying the liberating energy and happiness found in simplicity.

Closing the EP is the beloved ‘Somebody Loves You’, an uplifting melody that radiates sincerity from the very first note. With its timeless quality, this track captures The Money War’s exceptional songwriting prowess and the undeniable chemistry that defines their partnership. Listeners will find themselves floating into the ether, embracing the affirmation of being loved.

With an impressive track record boasting over 3 million streams on Spotify and recognition from esteemed publications such as Tone Deaf, Rolling Stone AU, Blunt Mag, NME, and The Music, The Money War has solidified their position as one of Australia’s finest musical acts. Their dreamy compositions and captivating performances have graced stages at renowned festivals including FOTSUN, SXSW, BIGSOUND, and many more.

Allow The Money War to help you find the words to express yourself as they release their enchanting 4-track EP ‘I Don’t Hear You Anymore’ now.

“‘I Promise I Love You’ takes the heart and skill TALLOU had with her previous projects, and explores the land of bass synths, dirty slow pop beats, and adds some grit into the mix.” (The Point Music News)

Toowoomba-based artist TALLOU is ready to enchant listeners once again with her latest single, ‘marco polo’, out now (July 23). Following the success of her moody debut earlier this year in the form of ‘i promise i love you’, TALLOU continues to showcase her talent as a singer-songwriter with a distinctive indie/ alt-pop sound.

TALLOU may be a fresh stage name, but Tiana Dennis found her footing in the music industry at a young age when she signed one of her original songs to Sony ATV for sync opportunities when she was just fourteen. Her journey led her to perform at renowned festivals like Caloundra Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, and Tamworth CMF. She also had the privilege of opening for acclaimed acts, including Sheppard and Taylor Henderson, as part of her Queensland Music Award-winning duo, Oh Harlow.

Now, she embraces a new path for her creativity, crafting a dreamy indie-pop sound that radiates like iridescent stars in the sky. With its floaty atmosphere and driving full-bodied basslines, TALLOU and her vocal delivery finds the perfect meeting point between melancholic tenderness and rich, hopeful energy. Becoming more vibrant after each verse as new layers are introduced, this dreamlike world is all absorbing.

‘marco polo’ stands as a testament to TALLOU’s perseverance and passion for creating meaningful music. Weaving her stories into a sparkling musical tapestry, ‘marco polo’ explores relationships and the heartbreak that can come with them. TALLOU explains:

“‘marco polo’ was inspired by a close friend and his constant journey of losing and finding himself through different relationships. We were at the gym one day debriefing about the latest heartbreak and he literally said “I feel like I’m playing Marco Polo with myself”. I thought it was great and immediately wrote it down in my notes app.”

Collaborating with talented brothers Jeremy Beamish (Jude York) and Ben Beamish (Sleepy Benjamin) in a writing session, the song effortlessly took shape. Jeremy took charge of the track’s production, infusing it with his deep understanding of the song’s evolution from writing to its shimmering synths and intoxicating alt-pop elements.

Join the enchanting world of TALLOU with ‘marco polo’, available on all major streaming platforms now.
