Featuring recent releases ‘HOLD ON’ and ‘G.Y.M.’, Life I Chose is a seven-track EP that revels in different energies. The harder edge of a song like ‘G.Y.M.’ beautifully contrasts the vibrancy of a song like ‘EHLUMENTS’. For fans of early Kanye West and contemporary-day Kendrick Lamar, there will be moments on Life I Chose that will grab immediately. And then for fans of biting lyricism in the vein of Headie One or Dave, Yawdoesitall’s flex on songs like ‘LIGHTS’ and ‘ONLY ONE HERE’ stand out as more than impressive.

Where are you currently based?
The Central Coast, NSW
How did you first start playing music?
Ever since I was super young, I’ve always sang and danced about making up little tunes but I think It wasn’t until my Mum took me to singing lessons that I started to properly play music. I played violin for a little while as a kid and then I moved to guitar and singing as my key instruments. I first started playing music live when I was about 11 or 12 and have done so ever since.
What’s been happening recently?
I just released my debut EP “ELEGY” and had my launch at the Australian Institute of Music which was super fun.
You’ve just released your debut EP ‘ELEGY’ at the ripe old age of 18, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
I was experimenting with sound and what I want the production of my songs to sound like. When I was in the process of writing “Silence Song”, I realised I was really leaning towards alternate and dark pop sounds. I think thematically, the EP stems from a place of moving on to better things, transitioning into better places and having hope in moments of self-reflection.
How did you go about writing the EP?
I wrote a lot of it solo however I also collaborated with a range of different producers and songwriters to create the songs that you now hear on the EP. Some of the writing process consisted of me just picking up a guitar and hitting records on my voice memos, while other times I collaborated online writing and recording bit by bit.
Where and when did you record/produce/master and who did you work with?
I recorded in a couple different places and worked with a few different people for the creation of the EP. I got to work in Forbes Street Studios with Mario Spate, Studios 301 with Jess Deskovic, The Music Cellar with Rod McCormack, and The Nest Studios with Tristan Barton. I also recorded a few vocals in my home studio and worked with David Turley online recording and writing.
How did you approach the recording process?
I make sure my vocals are feeling good, usually I will have a tea and make sure my voice is warmed up. I’ll then work with the producer I’m working with to record takes of the song. I love layering my vocals and creating beds of harmonies for my lead vocals to sit on. As for other instruments, a lot of it is synthesised or electronic but i love recording my favourite cole clark angel 2 model guitar. If I’m recording from home, I just go through the song chronologically and methodically and make sure I have heaps of takes and layers for the producer to work with.
You worked with a talented bunch of producers to make this EP, how did these associations come about?
I’ve won a couple awards that have given me connections such as winning the Listen Up Music Songwriting Prize that got me connected with Jess Deskovic. As for other connections, they usually happen through my label or publishers. I’ve been really lucky to work with such talented and kind people.
Did music always seem to be the path you were meant to follow?
Music has always been a prominent feature of my life, however, I didn’t really realize it could be something I could pursue as a career until a few years ago. It just makes sense to me as music was always the one thing I felt comfort in when everything else seemed difficult or too much.
How does it feel releasing your first EP?
It feels pretty surreal just because it has felt like such a long time coming in releasing singles and music videos and creating content for it to finally be out in the world. I am just overwhelmingly happy to have it out as my first body of work and feel that it’s a really special thing to have a physical thing that acts as almost an extension of yourself to add to your portfolio of stuff you’ve created.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I listen to a range of different stuff and that changes all the time, but I’m loving Kimbra’s new songs at the moment, BANKS, Dora Jar, Adele and Vera Blue.
What do you like to do away from music?
When I’m not listening to, writing or performing music, I can usually be found spending time out with my favourite people and going out having fun with friends and family, whether that’s at concerts, events, the beach or just out for food and drinks. As a writer, I also really love reading and delving into imaginary worlds that people have built in their heads as I find that super inspiring and helpful for building vocab when I’m songwriting. I am a huge movie buff and could quote quite literally any disney or early 2000’s kids film. I also love trying new things, going to new places, adventuring, getting outside in the sun -not for too long cause i’ll burn as i’m super white-, and i also love just putting my creativity to the test in whatever way i can.
What’s planned for the remainder of 2022 going into 2023?
I am going away on two trips in December this year, Thailand with my best friend and then I’m cruising around Vanuatu with my family for christmas. In and around then, I’m finishing off my diploma in music production and sound engineering and doing little solo gigs. Nothing is set in stone for next year music wise but we are planning to organise a band show to celebrate the EP early 2023. I’m also planning to get out there much more with my band, supporting other artists and touring as much as I can. I want to push myself to collaborate with more artists as well next year.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
I love food and trying new foods so much but my favourite has got to be sushi and japanese style cuisine. I also love curry and south aisian style food too. I love sour patch kids and weird food combos as well like salt and vinegar chips with beetroot dip. There are a few nice restaurants and bars where I live that are great to hang out with friends but the beaches where I live are amazing too so I love to hangout there as well.

Central Coast artist Holly Alison makes a welcome return with a supercharged new single ‘DOING BETTER’. The track oozing with pop-trap vibes was written after she endured a toxic relationship, it’s her most confident release to date. Ramzie features on the song thriving in his unique rap swagger.
“The song was written about a psycho ex-girlfriend who used to tell me I would never get any better than her (insert emotional damage tik tok trend haha). My best friend actually warned me away from her early on but I didn’t listen. Then all throughout the relationship I was told to get out of it but silly me just kept rolling with it. When I finally got out of the relationship, I realised how toxic it was. I also HATED that I lost myself so much in the relationship and felt like I couldn’t stick up for myself so it was my mission to chuck a Taylor Swift and write a break-up song that had a positive swing. When I wrote the song, I had also found MUCH MUCH better sooooooo she was wrong haha.” Holly Alison
‘DOING BETTER’ with its intoxicating blend of club beats and polished pop hooks had a dream team bringing it to life. Holly once again teamed up with her friend, Australia’s newest R&B superstar producer, songwriter and singer Boy Soda on her release.
“I started with the thought process of creating a song which allowed me to speak my mind out loud. It is something I didn’t really have the balls to do in my previous relationship so I thought why not write a song instead haha. I then messaged Brae (Boy Soda) and asked if he was keen to write with me. We wrote 2 songs together, one of them being DOING BETTER.” Holly Alison
Completing the entire demo in Boy Soda’s home studio on the NSW Central Coast, Holly sent the track to renowned producer Liam Quinn (Peach PRC) that night.
“He was super keen to jump on it so we organised a session together. Initially the song didn’t have a bridge, however, during the session we realised it would sound SOOOO SLICK with a rapper in it. So we added a bridge in! Liam suggested a few people who it would suit, and so we ended up contacting RAMZIE. RAMZIE hit back immediately and sent through an initial DRAFT. I LOVED it so we put his rap in. The rest is music history!” Holly Alison

Blending elements of psych, indie, pop & rock, Perth based multi-instrumentalist and producer Krumple Krink has today unveiled his final release for the year, aptly titled ‘Connected To Disconnection’. Astutely recognizing the escapism sought by all humans, in many different forms, it’s set not to critique or offer comment, but merely to recognize that we all participate in games of escapism, to journey away from the mundaneness of our day-to-day lives. This point of connection sees Krumple Krink use layered sonics, uneasy sounds and vibrant, electrical instrumentation to build a world for audiences to find their own moment of escape.
Recorded at his home studio in Perth, and produced entirely by himself, Krumple Krink worked to layer multiple tracks of instrumentation to find just the right textures and timbre for the track. After finalising production, he then teamed up with the esteemed Rob Grant of Poons Head Studios (Tame Impala, POND) who handled the mixing and mastering for ‘Connected To Disconnection’. The result, a thick and layered sonic world, that still cuts through with sharpness and brightness throughout.
“The song is about escapism. It’s not looking to say anything about escapism, just pointing out its existence in every single person’s life. For each person, that escapism takes a different form. Sometimes that form is positive to our lives, sometimes it’s not. But we all participate in games of escapism from the mundaneness of our everyday lives. “Connected To Disconnection is meant to sound electric – like it has little shots of energy travelling in it” Krumple Krink
“Connected To Disconnection rides the line between chaos and calmness, blending extremity with serenity to give a feeling of intense bliss. This song has a lot of layered sounds, which work together to create a unique, excited yet easy-flowing texture. I recorded it at my home studio over a few days, looking for a blend of animated sounds that fight for your attention.” Krumple Krink
To accompany the sonic soundscape of ‘Connection To Disconnection’, Krumple Krink was able to work with two flow artists, Charlotte Noonan & Shelby Jewel, using fire and LED props to create a background set light show, in front of which the two performed. Desiring to absorb the viewers’ attention as much as possible, the video continues to draw upon escapism to absorb audiences and transport them to another realm. Filmed by Ward Media, with incredible lighting by Seton Douglas-Smith (Orion Audio Visual) the video features an animated laser show, which Krumple Krink will be incorporating into future live performances, alongside the track.
“The experience of shooting the music video with Ward Media was deeply inspiring and felt like a sort of escapism in and of itself. The immersive music video coupled with the song is supposed to absorb the viewer’s attention and transport them to another place, which I think serves as proof of what the song is about – escapism. I spent a large portion of the video shoot getting carried away at the prospect of the lasers and constantly asking for more lasers.” Krumple Krink
Emerging from Perth’s melting pot of indie & psych inspired artists, Krumple Krink is 22-year-old musician and producer Yannai Goldberg, Having made a name for himself in the United Kingdom as a guitarist & busker, his style of percussive guitar carried him across to Perth, Australia. With strong praise from Rag Talent & Happy Magazine for previous single ‘Fear of Death’, the guiding touch of acclaimed producer Rob Grant (Tame Impala, POND) is sure to lead Krumple Krink to the forefront of psych-experimental songwriters in Perth and eventually, across Australia.
PRAISE FOR KRUMPLE KRINK
“As though he were a musical magician, KRUMPLE KRINK skilfully fuses seemingly-opposing ideas, feelings and genres into one song; creating an effortless, sonically-soothing masterpiece that pulls from a myriad of influences.”
Happy Magazine
“Krumple Krink brings on a crisp and colourful approach to psych-pop with an array of gorgeous textures. There is a sense of being a part of something bigger. It feels warm and welcoming and it’s impressive how it can do that so quickly. All this becomes addictive and infectious and really makes you want more from [this guy].”

‘Connected To Disconnection’ is out Wednesday, November 9th
Only 8 more sleeps until Good Things Festival will be here igniting the mosh pits along the east coast of Australia.
Headlined by one of the world’s most electrifying and successful rock bands BRING ME THE HORIZON, the stacked line-up also includes Australian iconic and gold-selling larrikins TISM performing for the first time in 19 years, American heavyweights DEFTONES,
JXDN and 3OH!3 are no longer able to perform due to circumstances beyond our control but in fantastic news we welcome OCEAN GROVE and TEENAGE JOANS to the line up.
Aussie oddballs OCEAN GROVE freely fuse rock, metal, grunge, hip-hop & Brit-pop influences, pioneering what can only be described as Oddworld Music. The eclectic trio hailing from Melbourne recently released their third LP Up In The Air Forever in April 2022 to critical acclaim and have since been on a global assault touring their new brand of Oddworld Music. Having just returned from their debut headline tour across the UK & Europe in October 2022 and off the back of their biggest headline shows in Australia to date, OCEAN GROVE are set to make 2023 a career-defining year with the promise of a lot more new music around the corner…
After taking out the triple j unearthed high crown in 2020, TEENAGE JOANS, the Adelaide two-piece have not slowed down, taking out #87 in the 2021 H100, releasing single ‘Something About Being Sixteen’ and playing two sold out co-headline shows with TOWNS in Brisbane and Melbourne. They have shared the stage with Violent Soho, Ruby Fields, The Hard Aches, Clowns, The Chats, Bugs, Amy Shark and Sly Withers and performed at Summer Sounds, Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, Yours & Owls, Laneway Festival 2019 as part of the Girls Rock! Showcase and were a highlight performance at A Day Of Clarity and Stonecutters Festival’s.
We recently welcomed these additional artists..
YOU AM I are one of the most successful and internationally admired Australian bands. Centered around the prolific songwriting skills of singer/guitarist Tim Rogers, their breakthrough came at the inaugural Lollapalooza-style Big Day Out concert in January 1993. With three number one albums, a handful of ARIA awards and 11 albums under their belts, YOU AM I cement themselves as one of Australia’s most esteemed bands.
For a lot of bands, chaos & insanity are used as colourfully descriptive words for their character; for Japan’s PALEDUSK, they’re somewhat of an understatement. The electronic-metalcore powerhouse leaves absolutely nothing behind as they carve a path that is truly one of a kind. Word has spread like wildfire about these young kids from the Japanese island of Kyushu and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. See them before they become the next global sensation that everyone is talking about.
From their immersive sonic aesthetics to their high-octane live shows, there’s nobody quite like Melbourne cinema-core masterminds THE GLOOM IN THE CORNER. Recently adding to The Gloom Cinematic Universe with their blistering sophomore album Trinity, THE GLOOM IN THE CORNER are primed to whisk your breath away onstage with their sharp storytelling, unwavering melodics and nuanced, explosive heaviness. Prepare for a sonic spectacle for the ages this December.
Deathcore flag bearers TO THE GRAVE have been focussed on dominance since their inception and show no signs of slowing down. After their 2019 record Global Warning elevated them to global awareness, they have been set on a warpath across the world to bulldoze audiences with a visceral live experience and a confronting message that demands your attention. They’ll be appearing at the Melbourne and Brisbane events only.
Start planning your day as the maps and timetables are here!

Central Coast artist NEAV (aka Niamh Watson) releases her 6-track debut EP ‘Elegy’ today.
NEAV collaborated with a talented group of musicians and producers to bring her musical vision to life. She worked with Mario Späte (Washington, Montaigne); Jess Dess (King Princess, Brockhampton); Rod McCormack (Paul Kelly, Gina Jeffreys); David Turley (Millie Turner); and Tristan Barton (Greta Stanley). Two songs from her debut EP won the contemporary/pop category of the national Australian Songwriters Association Awards. The songs were ‘Silence Song’ in 2020 and ‘Tragic Drama’ in 2021.
“ELEGY has been in the works since the beginning of 2020. Silence Song was the breakthrough track for me as it was the moment when I discovered who “NEAV” was sonically. I had written and released songs in the past but this one felt different. Little did I know it would act as the catalyst for my debut EP.”
NEAV
PLAY/LISTEN
Inspired by fellow Australian artists such as Vera Blue and G-Flip, NEAV uses her voice as a true instrument whilst showcasing her innate ability to produce songs that are instantly memorable. When writing her debut EP, NEAV took cues from one of her idols St Vincent.
“One thing that stood out to me that I will always take into account when I am writing my own music is the importance of tension and release as a listener. This rule that she (St Vincent) sticks to really resonates with me because I think that the element of surprise and enjoyment in music is what makes a good piece of music.” NEAV
NEAV’s sophisticated approach to songwriting, and her rhythmic phrasing when singing illustrates her powerful intelligence that belies her youthful experiences. She writes from a place of heartfelt ideas with honesty and vulnerability. NEAV admits that she was extremely shy and didn’t say much throughout primary school, and no one knew she could sing or play guitar. She managed to hide that up until the very last day of primary school when she performed in the school talent show and ended up winning.
NEAV’s 6 track debut EP was recorded and mastered at The Nest in Surry Hills with Tristan Barton (Greta Stanley). It features previously released singles: ‘Talking To The Devil’, ‘Built The Same’, ‘Silence Song’ and the current single ‘Say Goodbye’, plus 2 new songs.
“Working before, during and after lockdown periods with a group of super talented songwriters, producers and sound engineers has been a hectic yet beautiful experience. The rest of the EP came together afterwards, with each song that was created I challenged myself to be more vulnerable and push the boundaries of who “NEAV” is as an artist. We spent a long time deciding what songs made it onto the EP and made sure that they all fit the concept we went with regarding the title. Because of this, the finished project is something that I can truly say I am proud of and can’t wait for it to be out in the world.” NEAV
Neav EP artwork by Nick Langley
18 year old NEAV is signed to Sydney indie label Double Drummer (Greta Stanley, Dominic Breen, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird) and ORiGIN Music Publishing (Gotye, Megan Washington, Lior). NEAV’s burgeoning reputation as a live performer has seen her open for and share a stage with artists such as Greta Stanley, Bec Sandridge, The Moving Stills, Dan Sultan, Imogen Clark, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, Little Quirks, Elaskia and Molly Millington in well known venues across Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast.
With the release of her debut EP, NEAV is proving she’s one of Australia’s most enthralling and brightest new artists.

The collaboration between 1300 and SOLLYY originated through a quick Instagram callout – an instance where SOLLYY shared an unnamed beat to his social media page and 1300 joined in the further production of following the post, bringing their combined essence to the tune.
1300 have taken a more tongue-in-cheek approach to the track, drawing from the fan feedback on how their music is listened to in gym settings, “We thought it’d be funny to make a song called ‘Cardio’ because we all don’t do any exercise at all. We’re like asthmatic, don’t do any exercise, don’t do cardio ever.”
Since the release of their debut mixtape in April 1300 have performed live across Korea, playing in esteemed venues including Value and Henz Club, as well as Seoul Community Radio’s HAJODAZE YANGYANG Festival. The collective have played alongside acclaimed hip-hop acts including Paloalto, Lil Boi, Ugly Duck, APRO, and Nucksal, teasing the chance of exciting new collaborations with international acts in the future. 1300 have been nominated for the Australian Music Prize, and more recently for FBi Radio SMAC Awards for Record of the Year (Foreign Language) and Best Video for their track ‘Oldboy’. They’ll be soon taking the stage this summer, with upcoming multi-hyphenate appearances at Falls Festival, Spilt Milk, Lost Paradise and Dream Machine Bali. All dates BELOW.
