Sorry I’m Late Headline Show Tickets On Sale now via moshtix

Tuesday January 3rd 2023 || Oxford Art Factory || Sydney, NSW Australia

Jackson Street Presents UK rap star, JAY1.  The charismatic rapper is confirmed to be touching down in Sydney on Tuesday 3rd of January 2023 for an exclusive one night only show at Oxford Art Factory. JAY1 will be showcasing songs from his forthcoming mixtape ‘Sorry I’m Late’ and fan favourites.

Hailing all the way from Coventry with a self-assured swagger JAY1 has had a meteoric rise after the single “Your Mrs” made its way to the 18th  spot on the U.K. Charts, reached over 1M views in just 3 days and was closely followed by another top 20 UK chart hit, “Mocking It”.

JAY1 started taking music seriously after moving from North London to the historically student-based city of Coventry in 2016. Bold, confident vocals and candid lyrics gave the U.K. MC a fundamental versatility despite often letting his lyrics speak for themselves on minimalist trap beats, he demonstrated his ability to adapt to everything from club-rap to Afroswing.

After delivering freestyles on two popular U.K. platforms, Bl@ckbox and Hardest Out, JAY1 saw his first taste of success with “That’s My Bae” which blew up through online video channels before inspiring its own freestyle challenge.  Releasing a string of fantastic singles, his raw flair and addictive touch has put the MC in a league of his own.

His latest single “Came In Sauce” features more of his trademark flows delivered in his nonchalant tones, whilst the lyrics are packed full of cheeky bars.

Friday March 10th The Brightside Brisbane

Hailing from New Bedford, Massachusetts ‘A Wilhelm Scream’ have sent the benchmark for Melodic Hardcore for almost two decades. The band are no strangers to Australian audiences having built up a devoted following as a world-class live band that can lift a room and take a show to the outer reaches of what’s possible. Their hyper fast, technically staggering output blurs lines and crosses boundaries, consistently turning heads of even the most jaded punk, metal, and rock fans.

Having recently released their fifth full-length album ‘Lose Your Delusion’, their first new record in 9 years, we are excited to announced ‘A Wilhelm Scream’ will return to Australia for the first time since 2016. A Wilhelm Scream possess a die-hard following in Australia, as of 2022 Sydney holds the number one spot for streaming the band while Australia is amongst the top three countries worldwide.

Sydney based Blood Sweat & Beers are joining forces with Tassie Based Evil Eye Touring to bring A Wilhelm Scream to Australia for the first time in almost seven years.

Tickets are on sale from Friday the 16th of December through Evil Eye Touring www.evileyetouring.com.au

A Wilhelm Scream ‘Lose Your Delusion’.

A body of work that culls from various styles weaved together into what the band appropriately calls “A Wilhelm Sampler,” Lose Your Delusion, A Wilhelm Scream’s first full-length offering in nine years, finds the accomplished rock quintet at its most daring, experimental and cohesive.

After all these years, A Wilhelm Scream have lived their lives and did whatever they needed to do to get to the point where they could assemble and write the songs that absolutely needed to be written. Each song on Lose Your Delusion is a product of never cutting corners at any point, be it with writing, recording, practice, or performance. Providing commentary on the past few years and the toll it’s taken in regards to our collective stress, anxiety, frustration and panic, the album serves as a pillar in the band’s rich and evolving legacy.

“This is our most unapologetically earnest album to date,” says Trevor Reilly (Guitar, Vocals),. “It’s our fifth full-length record and it feels like our first in that we feel we have so much more to say and energy to put out into the world.”

HONEST CROOKS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM “THE SOUNDS OF HELL” OUT FEB 10, 2023 ON EVP RECORDINGS

by the partae December 14, 2022
written by the partae

“Hits harder than a cement haymaker. More albums please.” Winston McCall – Parkway Drive

Today, Newcastle heavy hardcore kings Honest Crooks announce their new album The Sounds Of Hell, to be released Feb 10, 2023 on EVP Recordings (Psycroptic, Disentomb, Zeolite). Today, the band also drop the first single and video for the ferocious track Furnace Of Rage. The new single combines heavy hardcore and death metal, which showcases Honest Crooks at the peak of their powers. The band also announce the “Hell Across Australia” tour for February 2023, with special guests Japan’s Kruelty. Full tour details below.

Watch the video for Furnace Of Rage.

On the topic of the new single, vocalist Brodie states “Just because you’re in the presence of a police officer does not inherently mean that you are safe and it is my belief, from my experiences, that you are more likely to be in danger. F**k everyone who says that if you weren’t doing the wrong thing nothing bad would have happened to you because I am telling you that is not true. This song is about an abuse of power.”

The sounds of hell smoulder, the sounds of hell burn, and then the sounds of hell consume you. On their long-awaited debut album The Sounds of Hell, the NSW/ACT based death metal/hardcore group Honest Crooks stand tall as a fully realised band. The pure rage on display is as subtle as a sledgehammer swung from the rooftops, while a deep pain bleeds through every impact. The result of soldiering on through several years of lineup rotations and perseverance over less-than-ideal circumstances, the album sees their sound dig deeper into dark melody than ever before, displaying a perhaps surprisingly deft handle on a style that began as something much more straightforward and ignorant.

Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall gave a nod to Honest Crooks in his shortlist of artists that have delivered definitive albums that have had an impact on the landscape of heavy music both home and abroad. The Parkway Drive frontman gave Knotfest ten bands, ten albums, and a wealth of knowledge on just who from Down Under is destined for the very top.

Read about it HERE

With their style honed through national tours with such American greats as Xibalba, Harms Way and Kublai Khan and Australian peers like Alpha Wolf and Justice For The Damned and having amassed over 1.5 million Spotify streams across 3 EP releases,The Sounds of Hell has the band primed to reach the upper echelons of the heavy music scene.

Honest Crooks are
Brodie Graham – Vocals
Calum Johnstone – Guitar
Sam McCloud – Drums
Lewy Glass – Bass

Trinidad-born, Eora-based artist Gold Fang has today shared his latest summer single, ‘Drop‘ featuring CD, ahead of his debut headline show at the House of Music and Booze this Saturday Dec 17. LISTEN TO ‘DROP’ HERE.

Featuring Naarm-based, Egyptian / Australian R&B vocalist CD and produced by frequent collaborators Swick (M.I.A, JLo, Tkay Maidza) and Korky Buchek (Sophiya, Boysoda, Shanae), ‘Drop’ is a fierce Dancehall and RnB fusion. Drawing from the inspiration of his roots, Gold Fang flexes his melodic Caribbean flow and high-energy pop sensibilities, whilst CD turns up the heat with sensual vocals and euphoric layered harmonies that compliment Swick and Korky’s signature digital sparkle.

In his words, Gold Fang shares that ‘Drop’ is “about this sexy girl who I can’t take my eyes off. The way she moves is intoxicating.” As a longtime fan, of his collaboration with CD, Gold Fang says, “Working with CD was calm. I was a lil shy to work with someone who I respect like that. She a gangster, but she is subtle with it.”

Following the free-flowing ‘Big Natty Rasta’ that landed playlisting across triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi Radio, RAGE, MTV, and praise from NME, Acclaim Magazine, Purple Sneakers, Sniffers, Junkee, and more, Gold Fang wraps up a masterful balance of cultural authenticity amongst a playful exterior, standing tall amongst dancehall and reggae counterparts including Vybz Kartel, WizKid, and Popcaan.

His steady stream of releases including ‘Wet‘, ‘Light It‘ and ‘Make It Snow ft. Dante Knows‘ as well as his commission for the McDonald’s U.S. biennial global conference ‘Matter To Me’ and collaboration with rapper Big Skeez on their anthemic single ‘Where Yuh From’, helmed Fang’s artistry to new heights – flying the flag for the sounds of the Caribbean in Australian music.

Coupled with a blockbuster appearance at BIGSOUND, Gold Fang continues to cement his place at the forefront of local tastemakers and so-called Australia’s thriving Afro-Caribbean creative community: be it kicking off the year as triple j Unearthed‘s Feature Artist, a Semi-Finalist in Acclaim Magazine’s All-Stars as well as one of Red Bull’s 2022’s Australian Rappers to Watch, his commission for the McDonald’s U.S. biennial global conference ‘Matter To Me’ and his explosive freestyle for Red Bull’s 64 Bars alongside his sync involvement with Champion for their ‘Collegiate’ campaign and with JD Sports modelling for the new Adidas Trefoil line, Gold Fang proves no matter what lane, he keeps on winning.

The Prodigy, Skrillex, CamelPhat, Keinemusik, Hot Since 82 and more announced for EXIT Festival 2023

by the partae December 13, 2022
written by the partae

The first 23 names for EXIT Festival 2023 can be revealed today and they include the legendary return of the most influential electro-punk band of all time, The Prodigy, with tens more to come in the next few months.

After a multi-year break, the band are to return to EXIT, and it’s a place they have a rich history and deep connection with the Serbian audience. It is also an event they have said is their favourite to play in all the world so you can expect this date to be a real highlight of their comeback international tour, as the band’s founder Liam Howlett explains: “EXIT is our favourite festival! We were there (in Serbia) when a lot of sh*t went down. They hold us in their hearts as a special bend, and we love the people there.”

The EXIT 2023 programme runs from July 6th – 9th at the famous Petrovaradin Fortress and it will be headlined by electronic music revolutionary Skrillex, rock sensation Viagra Boys, the Keinemusik collective as well as CamelPhat, Hot Since 82, Vintage Culture and Indira Paganotto. The performances of The Toasters, Cockney Rejects, Human Rias, Mortal Kombat, Zoe Kida and many others have also been confirmed. A total of 23 names are ready to take their place in the EXIT Universe by coming to four of Exit’s favourite stages – Main Stage, mts Dance Arena, Visa Fusion and Explosive for this fantastic four day celebration.

The Prodigy has been a leading force in the global electronic scene for decades. Songs like “Firestarter,“ ”Breathe,“ (which premiered in Belgrade) “Smack My Bitch Up,“ “Voodoo People,“ “No Good (Start The Dance),“ “Out Of Space,“ and “Everybody In The Place“ are not only the huge part of musical history, but have been integral to the upbringing of generations around the world for the past 30 years. Their immense popularity in the region is evidenced by breaking the Main Stage attendance records at each of their performances, which are expected to be repeated next  year. Their 1995 concert in Belgrade’s Pionir Hall left an indelible mark on Serbian society after the wars and sanctions, reconnecting young people with the world and providing them with a sense of freedom, rebellion, and revolution through music. This connection was deepened at the EXIT festival from their first performance in 2007 through the 2009 edition, to 2013 and 2016. The members of the most influential electro band of all time showed how much they loved the local audience when they proudly declared that EXIT is their favourite festival and that they love the Serbian people!

The Prodigy: EXIT is our favorite festival!

“Many thought, including the band itself, that The Prodigy would stop performing after the tragedy, but we knew this wouldn’t be the case. The comeback concerts in London showed that the fire in them burns stronger than ever, and the iconic band’s reunion with its favourite, EXIT audience, will surely be the most emotional yet. In July, we will witness a moment of true music history, which will reach its highest point with a special laser projection of Keith Flint” said the founder and CEO of the EXIT festival, Dušan Kovačević.

Skrillex, the American producer and DJ who has wild memories of Exit, will also return to the Petrovaradin fortress. After his first performance at the Main Stage in 2014, which is remembered as one of the greatest in the history of Exit, he was so delighted by the atmosphere that he decided to cancel his other performances and stay until the end of the festival. This musical innovator has eight Grammy Awards, which is a record in the electronic music scene. Releases such as “My Name Is Skrillex,” “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,“ “Recess,“ and collaborations with the biggest global stars like Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber and Diplo, Ellie Goulding, and J Balvin have redefined the entire genre. Next July, Skrillex returns to the Petrovaradin Fortress in full force and with a minimum of two more albums announced.

Viagra Boys and their eccentric frontman Sebastian Murphy, professional jazz musicians and hardcore veterans from Stockholm, are coming to Serbia for the first time, straight to Exit’s Main Stage! Their music is strongly based on the elements of parody and satire, presented at their very first EP, “Consistency of Energy,“ followed by their debut album “Street Worms,“ and last year’s LP “Welfare Jazz.“ Scottish producer/DJ duo LF System is also coming to the EXIT Festival’s Main stage – these hitmakers are known for their refreshing soul sound, topping the UK Singles Chart and earning a platinum record with their single “Afraid to Feel.“

Keinemusik, CamelPhat, Hot Since 82, Vintage Culture and Indira Paganotto Coming to the Dance Arena!

The DJ and producer crew Keinemusik consists of &ME, Rampa and Adam Port, who have made this project one of the world’s leading house attractions. They affirmed their status at this year’s Burning Man and are coming to Serbia for the first time. The guys from the duo CamelPhat boast sold-out performances at Wembley and Hydra Arena, their own night at the Creamfields festival in the impressive Steal Yard Arena, and a Grammy nomination, and they are also coming to EXIT for the first time, at the peak of their popularity. Their nearly 20-year-long career has had many essential chapters, including the global hit “Cola,“ a collaboration with ARTBAT on the track “For A Feeling,“ and the latest single “The Sign“, created in collaboration with Tale Of Us, which reached the #1 spot on the Beatport chart. Hot Since 82 brings everything fans of house, deep house, and tech house could wish for. The loyal Dance Arena audience is perfectly aware of the kind of atmosphere he can create and that critics rightly describe his music as “the most sophisticated in the UK”.

Vintage Culture made his big breakthrough on the global electronic scene with covers of iconic songs like “Another Brick in the Wall“ and “Blue Monday“. In the meantime, many of his releases have gone platinum and reached the top of the Billboard, Spotify, and Beatport charts. He recently presented a new single, “Commotion,“ in collaboration with the legendary Maxi Jazz. Many electronic music fans still haven’t had time to fully process the masterful closing of the No Sleep Festival and Exit’s No Sleep Novi Sad Stage, both marked by Indira Paganotto’s recognisable psytechno style. She has just released a new EP, “Lions of God,“ with each and every one of its tracks reaching the top of the Beatport chart. The line-up also includes Human Rias, who became the only performer in history to both open and close the mts Dance Arena last year! First name of Pachamama stage is local Sarasvati Druna Band.

The beloved Visa Fusion Stage will host the iconic American ska band The Toasters, who are “hitting the gas, not the brakes” after four decades on the scene. They have over 7,000 live performances under their belts, while Mojo Magazine included them among the most influential ska bands of all time. The Visa Fusion Stage line-up will also include Belgrade’s Mortal Kombat, with its hard sound and provocative lyrics and the charismatic singer-songwriter Zoe Kida.

The fierce Explosive Stage will host the Swedish hardcore punk band Wolfbrigade, the Californian melodic hardcore band Ignite, the Cleveland thrash metal band Midnight, the British Cockney Rejects, Mirror and The Bar Stool Preachers, the Romanian atmospheric folk black metal band Sur Austru, as well as the cult American thrash metal band Sacred Reich.

Early-bird tickets are on sale from 87 EUR +b/f.  Tickets can be purchased here. The sunniest Holiday Offer begins on Thursday, 15th December — with each purchased ticket for EXIT 2023, fans will get a ticket for one of EXIT’s seaside festivals as a gift.

This performance is the culmination of a very full and rewarding year for The Australian Ballet School. The mixed program is designed to delight, and provide all of our young talent with the opportunity to shine. Our beautiful Butterfly is a fitting finale to 2022; the butterfly is the perfect metaphor to be explored and performed by our transforming young artists-in-training.

Congratulations to every one of our beautiful students and teachers for working so hard, and bringing their passion for dance to the School every day. Special thanks to alumnus and artist of The Australian Ballet, Hugo Dumapit, for stepping into the role of Jack Butterfly at late notice. My thanks also to David Hallberg and The Australian Ballet for supporting Hugo’s involvement.

The tour starts on Monday 6 February at the Amnplifier Bar in Perth before it makes it way across the country to Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane before finishing up on Sunday 12 February at 170 Russell, Melbourne.

nothing, nowhere. released his fourth album, TRAUMA FACTORY in 2021. The single, fake friend, taken from the album marked his first song to ever enter the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart with the single now clocking over 16 million Spotify streams and almost 1 million Youtube views.

“TRAUMA FACTORY is an accumulation of songs written during a confusing time. it is about accepting the present and following your true north through the pain and suffering of human life. I wanted to make an album that was truly genreless and inspire others to challenge themselves artistically. I believe the most inspiring art is unpredictable and unrestrictive. to me that’s what TRAUMA FACTORY is.” says nothing, nowhere.

nothing, nowhere. also features on Stand Atlantic’s most successful single, deathwish, which has had almost 25 million Spotify streams alone.

nothing, nowhere. is about a connection. It’s one he finds with fans around the world, who gather to see him play on tour and to listen to his songs online. It’s that connection that urges the singer to place his fears aside and step onstage each night to share his art. He sees the potential to help, to make a change, however small it may be and that is why he brings his music out of the Vermont wildness.

JACK JOHNSON – ZIGGY ALBERTS – EMILY WURRAMARA – SYDNEY MYER MUSIC BOWL, MELBOURNE 2022

by the partae December 10, 2022
written by the partae

Photography + Words – Nate Hill

In between dreams…

I don’t share a lot of personal stuff on social media, but this was a special one for me.

My Dad was a massive Jack Johnson fan. Way back in 2008, I took Dad to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to see Jack. We got there early to check out the support acts. Our seats were right on the edge of the covered section and it was a wet one. To this day I’m not sure why, but one of the ushers came, had a chat with us and invited us to go right down to the barrier. Front and centre. We had one of our best, most memorable and talked about gigs we ever had together.

So to be back at the same venue, this time to see Jack with my camera in hand on the other side of the barrier in the pit was somewhat emotional. Dad was definitely there in spirit with me. He would’ve been so stoked to hear that I had the opportunity to shoot his favourite artist.

Thank you Jack for giving me the soundtrack to some amazing memories.

CHARLIE GRADON returns with brand new single ‘BLACK + WHITE’

by the partae December 9, 2022
written by the partae

The return of Sydney singer-songwriter Charlie Gradon is a welcome one, as music fans move through into a summer of new music. His music to date has encompassed a vast range of influences, yet what threads them together is a rich knack for songwriting and individualistic style.

Today, Gradon releases a brand new single in ‘Black + White’ – an evocative and striking piece of music that reasserts Gradon as a multi-talented artist to watch.

A song focused on relationships, specifically witnessing the breakdown of a relationship, ‘Black + White’ explores the complexity of intimate connection and the nuance that comes with navigating your way through such an emotional environment.

Recorded by Gradon and his band out of Liam Judson’s Sonic Funhouse in the Blue Mountains back in April 2021, ‘Black + White’ in its final form comes wrapped up in the dynamism of a group of musicians who are very much in sync – their artistry elevates the key sounds that sit at the core of Gradon’s songwriting style.

“I think we ended up using the first take of the session. I’ll never forget Liam Judson (engineer) swearing loudly seconds after we finished, declaring we had it!”
CHARLIE GRADON

Along with the release of the single itself, Gradon has also shared the official music video for ‘Black + White’, directed by Tom Stephens. Filmed in Pitt Town, New South Wales, the narrative of the song is captured beautifully on screen.

“It’s about witnessing your life in a dreamlike state and seeing memories wherever you go.”
CHARLIE GRADON

With early music evoking references to some of indie music’s greats including Mac DeMarco and Radiohead, Charlie Gradon emerged in 2018 as an intriguing new player on the Australian scene. British born, now based in Sydney, Gradon’s confessional style of songwriting has had international qualities from the jump; his perspectives have been both inviting and accessible for listeners, making his overall catalogue one that media and radio alike have flocked to in recent years.

Two EP releases in Self-Doubt (2018) and Blurry Ones (2020) gained the attention of triple j, 3RRR, 4ZZZ and more, while gaining rotation spots across FBi Radio, 2SER and Double J. As a live performer, Gradon’s hypnotic and charismatic presence on record has translated brilliantly into the on-stage realm; he has sold out shows at both the Lansdowne Hotel and Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.

Gradon’s songwriting pen is also strong when it comes to collaborations with other artists, his co-writing credits include Julia Stone, Pacific Avenue, The Rions, DZ Deathrays and others.

PRAISE FOR CHARLIE GRADON

“I love it when an artist’s mind, heart and talent join forces to produce something as authentic and joyous as this song.”
DOUBLE J (Dot Markek)

“Dispersing an emotional vivacity inescapable to the human soul, the quintessential aftermath to any Charlie Gradon experience.”
The AU Review

“Soaring melodies and beautiful harmonies stick out on the EP that flirts with folk, indie, and rock genres, and is glued together by Charlie’s insightful lyricism and unique voice.”
Life Without Andy

With a full new project of music in the pipeline for release in 2023, Charlie Gradon is looking ahead to building upon a strong foundation of material that has already established him as one of the country’s most promising songwriters.

The Grogans are gearing up to celebrate their third studio album WHICH WAY IS OUT in full swing, with a tour kicking off across Australia and New Zealand in February 2023 including some festival appearances at Ninch Fest and Temple Sessions Festival, with all tickets on sale now!

After a busy year with their first run of international shows in New Zealand, supporting Hockey Dad on their Australian Tour,  plus festival appearances at Wanderer Music Festival, Best Night Ever , NYE on the Hill, The Great Escape and Drift Festival, and a sold out international support with US band WAVES, WHICH WAY IS OUT was launched with sold out release day shows at HABA in Rye and an exhibition at Melbourne’s Record Paradise presented by Cousin Will Records commemorating all things Grogans. Alongside the tour announcement the trio are releasing a colourful claymation visual for feature track ‘LE FANGZ’, an exuberant and playful expression of the energy more familiar at The Grogans live shows.

Have you ever imagined a daisy inspired vampire creature? Meet the protagonist of feature track ‘LE FANGZ’ and the visual claymation component created by Willem Kingma. “Le Fangz tries to mellow you out and tell a story of an imaginary creature ‘le fang’ through a more lo/fi gritty ballad. This song actually accrued from this awful painting Quin did of these daisy looking vampire critters during lockdown. We were having a few beers on the grass just painting on big bits of plywood. After Quin had finished he wrote ‘le fangs’ on it as the title which ended up in our studio until it one day became the main character in a song.” The Grogans

The band approached me with the concept of creating a stop-motion music video that involved a daisy with fangs, as the song itself was based off a painting Quin had done of a flower with sharp teeth. I started making the models using plasticine and polymer clay. I opted to shoot everything as a flat lay, animating the models on top of green or blue paper which I later keyed out in the edit and replaced with my own backgrounds. After everything was edited together, I put the digital footage to a VHS tape which to me made it look like some freaky lost children’s program! – Willem Kingma

Tracks from WHICH WAY IS OUT have seen The Grogans collectively added to Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Fresh Finds AU & NZ, Local Noise, and Indie Arrivals and music video adds Rage and MTV. Whether it’s Quin’s rhyming lyrics and captivating vocals, Angus’ irresistible guitar riffs, or Jordan’s punctuated and propelling percussion, “We’re not exactly sure Which Way Is Out but, when it comes to The Grogans, we’re definitely all in.” – Bryget Chrisfield.

Get ready to scream the lyrics at the top of your lungs of some old favourites and these new gems, as the trio transcend the borderlines between heavy, cruisy, and acoustic tracks with their fresh twist on the classic Grogans sound.
