GREG GOULD RELEASES POWERFUL SEXUAL ABUSE ANTHEM WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION?

Primal, moody and inescapably moving, the powerful new single Who Gave You Permission? out today from Australian powerhouse Greg Gould is a potent blend of pop, soul and searing intimacy. With an accompanying music video slated to land next week, and also set to captivate crowds with his latest release live in action throughout 2024, including onstage at SYNTHONY, Australia’s biggest orchestrated dance party this June, Gould also vigorously tackles exceedingly difficult narrative terrain via Who Gave You Permission? with unwavering finesse and poise.

Opening with a melancholic piano line, Who Gave You Permission? swells alongside Gould’s cogent vocals, ultimately building into a formidable primal pop anthem. Equally gripping musically as it is lyrically, Who Gave You Permission? weaves nods to the likes of Benson Boone, Rag’n’Bone Man, Teddy Swims and Sam Smith while also profoundly detailing an exceedingly personal experience for Gould himself. “To be honest I’m only just starting to feel comfortable to talk about this,” shares Gould. “The first time I performed the song live I burst into tears. I have been a victim of sexual abuse on four separate occasions in all very different circumstances from when I was 10 years old, right up until I was 30. Each time left me feeling so violated, so powerless, paralysed. Nobody has the right to touch you without permission. No means no. It was a very emotional, heart wrenching and confronting experience to write this song to be honest as I’d pushed a lot of those feelings and experiences down and hadn’t dealt with them – it took a while for me to be ok to admit it. There is a stigma around sexual abuse in general, and I do think it can be really difficult for men who are the victim – whether it be at the hands of another man or a woman. In my case, it was both on separate occasions. I want other men to feel comfortable to talk about this and speak up too.”

Seeking to empower fellow survivors through Who Gave You Permission?, Gould co-wrote the compelling new single with Benedict, working alongside Gould to unpack his trauma and ultimately pen a connective and sonically robust ode to survival, along with production by Sydney duo Cressbrook, with live strings composed by Ryan Youens. With a striking music video set to accompany this deeply powerful song on April 20, filmed in Gould’s home state, the clip for Who Gave You Permission? flourishes with its sonic elegance alongside poignant visuals to further amplify the driving message at the track’s core. “The music video features a protagonist moving through an old house,” shares Gould.” As they enter each room, a different storyline unfolds, each scenario reveals as we move back and forth between the rooms. I wanted to highlight that sexual abuse can happen in many forms and in many ways…without over-dramatising or sensationalising it.”

A creative cauldron from way back, Greg Gould began singing the moment he could talk; a talent which ultimately followed him to securing the runner up slot at the grand finale of Australia’s Got Talent in 2013. Following his Australia’s Got Talent success, Gould has gone on to generate millions of streams as well as views of his award-winning videos, perform multiple sold out shows and festivals, tour the globe and ignite charts at home and abroad; and all while continuing to foster and grow an authentic connection with his fans through his heartfelt creations. From snagging the #1 spot on the iTunes Albums charts via his 2020 album 1998, through to collaborating with En Vogue’s Maxine Jones (“a real pinch me moment”, Gould shares), Gould’s proudest moment to date remains releasing his first-ever self-directed music video, a cover of En Vogue’s 1996 smash single Don’t Let Go (Love) with the song’s heart wrenching video having amassed an impressive 20 million+ views. Fast-forward to 2024, and Gould has embraced the mixture of excitement, anxiety, nerves and relief to unveil the vulnerable yet hopeful Who Gave You Permission?, with the latest track also offering a hint as to what’s to come from Gould’s debut album of original songs, Strings Attached, set for release July 12, including his duet with one of the Philippines’ most successful artists, Morissette called Love It All Out (co-written by Bachelor Girl’s Tania Doko) which recently hit over 1 million views on TikTok. Gould has also written and performed the main song for the credits of a new Australian feature film getting its theatrical release later this year, which is set to debut at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Set to perform Who Gave You Permission? at an array of events this April and June, fans can expect to hear Gould’s latest track live in action alongside many other original songs. As to what fans can expect in the not too distant future? “Whether the subject matter is darker or lighter, guests at my shows can expect big vocals, big moments and lot of fun,” Gould enthuses. “I love to perform and I’m excited for the next 12 months! I’ve got big plans and even bigger dreams. I am so proud that Who Gave You Permission? is out now and I’m moving forward both personally and professionally! I would love if even one survivor of abuse feels stronger as a result of hearing this song. I want people to know they are seen, they are heard and they are believed. We won’t be broken.”

Who Gave You Permission? is out now.

Strings Attached is out July 12.

Celebrating 25 Years as a Champion of the Global Underground

@circolocoibiza

Today, global event institution CircoLoco reveals the full programme for its twenty-fifth anniversary Ibiza season, taking place April 29 – October 14 at DC-10.

For twenty-five years, CircoLoco has melded scenes and sounds from across the globe with its flagship Ibiza season lineups. It’s a place where legends are born, the avantgarde takes centre stage, and the moment’s biggest stars are given the chance to experiment on one of the world’s most revered stages.

CircoLoco has been long intertwined with acts now regarded as the ultimate titans of the underground electronic landscape. The 25th season will pay homage to this legacy with marquee billings featuring Apollonia, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers, Tania Vulcano, Peggy Gou, Rampa, Loco Dice, DJ Tennis, Sonja Moonear, Tale of Us, Anyma, ANOTR, Butch and Luciano.

The season’s lineup shifts left of centre with rare Ibiza showings from the likes of experimental electronic’s foremost flag bearers including Ben UFO, Daniel Avery, Joy Orbison, Aurora Halal, Bambounou, Bradley Zero, I. Jordan, Eliza Rose and VTSS positioned alongside formidable pioneers of the genre like Moodymann and Carl Craig, and crossover icons like Grimes and The XX’s Romy.

House music’s perennial evolution will be showcased by its new school icons like The Ghost, Sweely, Christian AB, Gene on Earth and Quest, as well as 4/4 heroes like Young Marco, Antal, Hunee and more.

It remains CircoLoco’s tight knit family of artists who know the club and its capacity to foster moments of connection like nowhere else that continue to earn the attention of the island each season. Chloé Caillet continues her rise within and beyond the four walls of DC-10 in 2024 on the back of her CircoLoco Records debut and launch of her own Smile label earlier this year. Keinemusik’s Rampa remains a fixture of the CircoLoco movement, effortlessly crisscrossing sonic styles and representing the fashion-forward lens of the community. Mochakk continues his monumental superstardom this season, much of which can be traced back to peak moments on the CircoLoco dance floor with a crazed smile on his face and impeccable energy in the booth.

Circoloco remains one of underground electronic music’s most important outfits. From its namesake party in Ibiza, spawned in 1999 as a Monday after-hours party, CircoLoco has grown into a global music brand and veritable lifestyle, catalysing cultural exchange with the most brilliant minds across art, fashion and entertainment. Its no-frills approach and forward-thinking lineups have perpetuated the underground spirit of its Balearic roots for 25 years.

CircoLoco’s impact on culture far exceeds its four walls, with the world’s of fashion and celebrity colliding with dance culture. It’s where Ricardo Tisci first heard the Martinez Brothers before booking them to soundtrack Givenchy shows for years; Virgil Abloh was inspired to design a capsule collection for the brand; a place where household names and high society stars can lose themselves on its dance floor. CircoLoco’s dance floor has sparked collaborations with world renowned brands such as Off-White, Adidas, and most notably a partnership with Rockstar Games, which led to the founding of CircoLoco Records, serving as a far-reaching fusion between the virtual and physical worlds of music and entertainment.

From its humble beginnings in the late-90s as a free Monday morning party at the infamous Ibiza venue DC-10, founder Antonio Carbonaro has overseen the exponential rise and expansion of CircoLoco into recording and design, and ultimately one of the most influential and iconic brands in club culture.

With shows spanning decades taking place in New York, Miami, London, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Madrid and Phuket to name a few, revellers on the White Isle this summer can expect CircoLoco’s customary blend of unity, inclusivity, cutting edge sound, and exceptional curation.

by the partae April 10, 2024
written by the partae

MOGA Caparica

May 29 – June 2, 2024

Costa da Caparica, Portugal

https://www.mogafestival.com/

FB / IG / TW: @mogafestival

An all new and elevated MOGA Caparica experience awaits on the beautiful coast of Portugal from May 29th to June 2nd, 2024 and now the second wave of names has been revealed as well as headliners for the OFF events.

Now playing are the likes of Acid Arab (DJ set), Adassiya (live), Agoria, Francis Mercier, Mâhoud (live), Lee Burridge, Romain FX (live), Rui Vargas, To Ricciardi, Zengxrl and many more. These latest names come on top of first wave names such as Acid Pauli, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Dixon, Jan Blomqvist (Live), Luca Saporito (Audiofly), Mr. ID, Pachanga Boys, Satori, Xinobi, Desiree and more and tickets are available now at mogafestival.com.

MOGA Caparica has made a huge impression in a short space of time. This year MOGA transitions from a series of beach parties to a full-fledged beach festival with a single expansive site and three stages but it remains a compact and boutique gathering for real music lovers inspired by Atlantic vibes and aimed at connecting people from all over the world.

In 2024, it offers another magical mix of artistic discovery, delicious food, local and international music talent, enriching activities for the soul and beach parties, boat parties. The latest names cover house, techno, melodic electronic music, funk, soul and plenty in between with a mix of live acts and DJ sets from legends, pioneers and new school talents.

There is also a superb OFF program across one boat, three beach venues, six parties, and countless hours of non-stop dancing. That OFF program can now be revealed and will take place across Lorosae, Azul Dr Bernard and Buya Beach in Costa da Caparica on the first two days of the festival.

The stunning beach bar Lorosae will be hosting a party on both Wednesday and Thursday. For this occasion the organisers partner up with Amor Records, a local record store and talent incubators. The event offers attendees an immersive experience in the electronic music Lisbon scene, showcasing local names. Later on the same days (29 and 30), the celebration carries on at Azul Dr. Bernard, just a few minutes away from the afternoon event. The setting will host electronic scene headliners along with their talented DJ friends. On Wednesday, MOGA gladly welcome Polocorp, and on Thursday, DJ Vibe, Portuguese talent known locally and globally, both spinning beats for a party lasting long into the night. MOGA will once again host its traditional boat cruise on the Tejo river, setting sail to the tunes of DJs from the Faina Music Portuguese label.

In addition to the live electronic music and parties, the festival also aims to pay homage to the land that welcomes us. The programme will be announced in the coming weeks but in previous editions, MOGA invited a local batucada, offered free yoga and surfing lessons, hosted discussions on music and technology, and organized exhibitions, all against the scenic backdrop of Caparica.

SUNBLEACHED SHARE THEIR GRUNGEY NEW SINGLE “HELL IS REPETITION” PLAYING ’10 YEARS OF THE BRIGHTSIDE’ W/ THE GETAWAY PLAN, OCEAN GROVE AND MORE IN JUNE

by the partae April 9, 2024
written by the partae

Brisbane alt-rock band Sunbleached share grungey new single Hell is Repetition, fresh off the back of their appearance at New Bloom Festival last month.

Produced and recorded with long time collaborator Dylan Cottee, Hell is Repetition is the heaviest and darkest song in the quartet’s repertoire to date. The track is an introspective look at behaviour everyone falls into from time to time, romanticising feeling depressed or remaining in a negative mindset instead of fixing the problem.

“The lyrical hook “How long will I stay here slow dancing with my demons” questions how long I’ll keep on repeating that process instead of trying to do better,” explains vocalist Josh Baker.

Late last month Sunbleached joined a handful of their biggest influences in Citizen, Movements, Touché Amoré and more to play New Bloom Festival in Brisbane, where they showcased their own brand of dreamy shoegaze and emo rock. Sunbleached were recently announced to celebrate 10 Years of The Brightside alongside The Getaway Plan, Ocean Grove, Eat Your Heart Out and more, kicking off on June 1. Tickets on sale now via Oztix.

Hell is Repetition follows on from Sunbleached’s February single No Cure For Life, which garnered radio support from multiple triple j programs, Eleven on Double J, Unearthed and community radio stations across the nation as well as editorial playlisting on Spotify and Apple Music. The single was the first to release for 2024 and is a nostalgic exploration of the band’s sound thus far, building on elements established on the quartet’s 2023 sophomore EP release, ‘Delicate Places We Hide’.

Sunbleached’s dedication and passion for their project has seen them welcomed to the Destroy All Lines agency roster and most recently pick up new management from 27 Music (Teenage Joans, Bec Stevens, The Tullamarines).

Sunbleached is Josh Baker (vocals), Bradley Maddaford (guitar), Zane Hughes (bass) and Brent Ottley (guitar). With all members winding down from previous music projects, sunbleached set out in 2020 to create a fresh and authentic alternative rock project ripping inspiration from decades past, reimagined for the present.

The quartet began their journey with the 2021 two-track release containing the light hearted title track Rose Tinted and the polar opposite offering, Flowers Grow From Ugly Places. Blunt Mag affirmed early on: “The future of post-hardcore is in good hands, so long as Brisbane trailblazers sunbleached are the ones holding it.“

The band played BIGSOUND 2022 on the Destroy All Lines showcase and have made an impression playing shows with Boston Manor (UK), Holding Absence (UK), Void of Vision, Deadlights, Mirrors, Pridelands, Dregg and Waxflower to name a few.

RACE FANS INVITED TAKE THE FRONT SEAT IN A LUXURY SUPERCAR WITH JACK’S RIDES

by the partae March 20, 2024
written by the partae

Bringing the track to Melbourne’s streets, Jack Daniel’s is offering fans complimentary rides between some of the city’s most popular venues in a pair of racing inspired supercars

In celebration of its partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 Racing Team, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is bringing the exhilaration of the racing circuit to Melbourne’s streets by offering fans the exclusive opportunity to take a complimentary adrenaline-fuelled drive in a pair of luxury supercars via some of Jack’s favourite venues.

From Friday 22 to Sunday 24 March, ‘Jack’s Rides’ will transport locals and visitors alike from the city to South Melbourne and back, whether they were lucky enough to snag a ticket and are getting amongst the action at Albert Park, or just want to soak up the heart-pumping energy of the circuit off-track.

Those looking to roll up on race day in style will be able to book a ride from 12:00pm each day, with the supercars picking up fans in pairs from the Next Hotel on Little Collins Street in the heart of the city and dropping them off at South Melbourne icon, the Golden Gate Hotel – just a short stroll from the Albert Park entrance.

Then, for fans keen to rev their engines into the night, until 10:00pm each night, there will be an option to add an electrifying evening ride from the Golden Gate Hotel to popular drinks den, George on Collins or the city’s largest rooftop bar, Good Heavens.

To book a ride, fans can register their name with the Jack’s Host at the entrance of each of the designated venues. Each ride will also have a complimentary Jack Daniel’s cocktail waiting at the finish line.

As an added bonus, each pair of passengers will also have the opportunity to communicate with each other through on-board headsets just as a driver would in a real racing car.

Excited to bring a taste of the race track to the Melbourne masses, Tom Rogers, Senior Brand Manager at Jack Daniel’s Australia, commented:

“Our partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 Racing Team is all about giving fans unique opportunities to celebrate the best in team sport. Through offering rides in some of the most exclusive

supercars in Australia, we’re so excited to be giving fans the chance to not only see, but feel first-hand the thrill of being part of the pinnacle of racing.”

Beyond the Jack’s Rides: Luxury Supercars Experience, Jack Daniel’s will also be delighting fans with a series of venue takeovers at some of Melbourne’s most popular venues over the race weekend including the Next Hotel, George on Collins, Good Heavens and Golden Gate Hotel.

PARKWAY DRIVE ANNOUNCE 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR WITH SPECIAL GUESTS I PREVAIL (USA) THE GHOST INSIDE (USA) + VOID OF VISION

by the partae March 19, 2024
written by the partae
Two decades ago, a band that would go on to pioneer and dominate the landscape of heavy music was born on the sunny shores of Byron Bay. Now in 2024, Australian metal titans PARKWAY DRIVE will triumphantly return to home soil this September to celebrate their 20th anniversary with their biggest headline tour to date, with the 20 Year Anniversary Tour set to ignite stadiums and arenas across the country, alongside very special guests I PREVAIL (USA), THE GHOST INSIDE (USA) and Void Of Vision.

A world-first experience and 20 unforgettable years in the making, Australia will play home in 2024 to PARKWAY DRIVE‘s brand new production; the band’s biggest show they have ever produced fittingly set to christen in their own backyard as part of the 20 Year Anniversary Tour.

“Australia, it’s been a while. To be honest, it feels like forever. We didn’t plan it to be this way, but then again we didn’t plan on making it this far in the first place. So here it is, we’re finally back, with the biggest headlining tour we have done, anywhere, ever, full stop. A celebration of a 20 year journey, of the roads we have walked through, the generations, to the path we still define, our own. 20 years, through blood sweat and tears. Still Australian, still unbreakable. Australia, turn the fuck up and make us proud, this is one for the history books” – Winston McCall, Parkway Drive

Wielding an incomparable legacy lined with boundless innovation, the juggernaut journey for PARKWAY DRIVE from teenage metal underdogs into becoming an unstoppable global force is one most could only dream of. With seven full-length albums in their wake, PARKWAY DRIVE have also scored three consecutive #1 releases on the ARIA Albums Chart courtesy of 2015’s Ire, 2018’s Reverence and, most recently, 2022’s Darker Still. With six of their albums certified Gold in Australia and multiple ARIA wins under their belts, the five-piece have also garnered worldwide chart success, cementing their status as a festival-headlining behemoth alongside three documentaries, a live album, millions of streams and thousands of live performances.

Also armed with an unforgettable live prowess which has sold out arenas and stupefied festival crowds worldwide, PARKWAY DRIVE‘s formidable reputation in a live setting doesn’t merely live up to the hype; it sets the hype on fire, literally. Transcending their metalcore foundations into another stratosphere, the spectacle of a PARKWAY DRIVE performance is one that stays with you well after the stage has emptied, with the band previously headlining the likes of Wacken, Good Things Festival in Australia and So What?! Festival amongst countless shows with some of the biggest names in metal, including Lamb Of God, Soulfly and Killswitch Engage.

Platinum-certified and twice Grammy-nominated Michigan rock powerhouse I PREVAIL will return down under this September to unleash their towering wares Australia-wide. An arena-level band, I PREVAIL have racked up billions of streams, close to 400 million views on YouTube, and toured the globe extensively. Catch I PREVAIL playing hits from across their entire catalogue this September.

Forming in California, THE GHOST INSIDE have survived and thrived against unimaginable odds since erupting onto the scene with their 2008 debut album Fury and the Fallen Ones. Blending the new wave of metalcore with driving punk hues, THE GHOST INSIDE cleave aggressive sounds with thoughtful thematics and melodics, and are set to release their sixth album Searching for Solace this April.

The Melbourne entity known as VOID OF VISION have solidified their standing as one of the most innovative and sonically explosive acts in the modern heavy scene for over a decade. From performing at Australia’s first ever Knotfest in 2024 alongside Slipknot, Parkway Drive and Megadeth through to their most recent groundbreaking single Angel Of Darkness, VOID OF VISION ceaselessly astonish.

Don’t miss your chance to witness PARKWAY DRIVE‘s biggest headline tour to date this September, this will absolutely be one for the ages.

ARC Music Festival, Chicago’s flagship house and techno festival, has revealed the lineup for its 2024 edition taking place from August 30th to September 1st. Returning to the heart of the city at Union Park this Labor Day Weekend, ARC’s fourth iteration will be soundtracked by the world’s leading house and techno selectors in the historic birthplace of house music.

Since its inception, ARC has bridged a diverse range of global and local musical influences and audiences, entrenching itself as a cornerstone in the global festival circuit while shining a spotlight on the rich cultural heritage of Chicago. ARC’s fusion of cutting edge production, progressive lineup curation, and emphasis on educating the next generation of electronic music listeners on its origins has elevated its impact and appeal to an international scale.

Led by Auris Presents, Chicago’s premier producer of experiential festivals and events,  ARC fans will also be treated to an expansive slate of intimate ARC After Dark afterparties late into the morning hours. After Dark programming will run five days from Thursday to Monday, showcasing a variety of uniquely curated parties featuring artist aliases, special b2bs, label takeovers, plus select acts outside of the festival lineup. The after party series spans over 13 venues, 30 parties, and 80 artists, and is exclusively available only to ARC festival pass holders.

A host of headlining acts lead ARC’s festival lineup including GRAMMY-nominated brotherly production duo Disclosure, dance music stalwarts Carl Cox B2B Green Velvet, a special house set from legendary grime pioneer Skepta, and Chicago-born globally renowned visionary Honey Dijon. Top tier acts continue to line the bill with Belgian techno powerhouse and KNTXT label head Charlotte de Witte, GRAMMY-nominee and in-demand hitmaker Dom Dolla, and German techno veteran Sven Väth.

In line with ARC’s forward-thinking approach to sonic curation, unique back to back sets and special collaborations elevate its lineup to new heights. This includes a back and forth of in-demand house acts Hot Since 82 B2B Chris Stussy and Sonny Fodera B2B Eats Everything, the high BPM sonics of DJ Heartstring B2B Partiboi69, and the collaborative GOLFOS project of Pawsa and Dennis Cruz. Additional highlights include UK powerhouse duo Ben Sterling B2B ROSSI., clubland favorites DJ Boring B2B Young Marco, and a meeting of new and old school with Dennis Ferrer B2B HoneyLuv.

Other back to back spectacles on the ARC lineup feature Detroit meets Chicago sets from the pioneering Detroit Love (Carl Craig B2B Moodymann) plus seasoned selectors DJ Holographic B2B Shaun J Wright, along with dual Chicago back to backs from house architects Derrick Carter B2B Mark Farina, Hiroko Yamamura B2B DJ Hyperactive, and Marshall Jefferson B2B Gene Farris.

ARC will showcase modern house luminaries including disco funk master Purple Disco Machine, chart-topping production duo Gorgon City, the melodically-tinged Kaskade Redux set, Bronx-born duo The Martinez Brothers, inimitable disco queen Jayda G, and piano-house icon LP Giobbi. The lineup will also feature Dutch duo ANOTR, innovative GRAMMY-winning artist Cassian, breakout star Mau P, Dirty Disco party head AZZECCA, and fan-favorite actor and selector Idris Elba.

ARC will continue to lean into its heavier techno curation led by the early 2000s influenced productions of German DJ Klangkuenstler, Filth On Acid heavy hitter Reinier Zonneveld Live, the high priestess of hard techno Sara Landry, German electronic duo FJAAK, French DJ and producer Nico Moreno, and versatile Ukrainian act Daria Kolosova. For more eclectic sonics, fans can look forward to Jazz-inspired Scottish musician Barry Can’t Swim, lo-fi house selector DJ Seinfeld, cross-genre producer Logic1000, fast rising UK bass and garage phenom Sammy Virji, and the melodic high bpm stylings of KETTAMA, X CLUB., and salute.

Global house and techno fans will be treated to an immersive journey at ARC, with curated production elements and art to guide them between each of its four distinct stage environments. ARC will return all four of its stages from 2023 including the industrial Grid stage, the interactive and psychedelic production of Spain’s celebrated elrow alongside its renowned performers, the deeper sonics of the Expansions stage, and the newest fan-favorite, Area 909 – an homage to house and techno’s foundation in a raw and energetic setting.

Basilar Festival – September 5th to 8th – Barragem da Queimadela – Fafe – Portugal

by the partae March 18, 2024
written by the partae

Basilar Festival is back for its 3rd edition, from 5 to 8 September, at Barragem da Queimadela In Fafe, North of Portugal, with four days of electronic music, with the last one extended for 24 hours.

After a highly demanding 2nd edition that welcomed 70% of foreign audiences – from Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania – Basilar presents itself with renewed energy and a bold programme of national and international artists from the techno scene.

Basilar is a single, intimate event with a meticulous curatorship, offering its audience a unique experience. The carefully chosen landscape and setting are essential for creating the idyllic atmosphere to which it refers.

Ben Klock, an inescapable figure on the world techno scene; DVS1, the American who will present an extended performance; Trolley Route, Oscar Mulero’s project that had a memorable performance at the last edition; or Scion Versions, the duo formed by Substance & Vainqueur who are umbilically linked to the dub techno of Basic Channel; are the featured artists who will be performing at Barragem da Queimadela in September.

These are joined by Japan’s Haruka, with his mental and hypnotic techno; the man at the helm of Token, KR!Z; the rebirth of the Deetron presents Soulmate project; and some of the names that were present at the second edition of Basilar and that help define the festival’s musical direction, such as Deniro, Fadi Mohem, Tasha and Stojche.

In live format, Basilar Festival will feature performances by the Italians Fireground; the Belgian and Fuse resident, Phara; and the Portuguese projects of A Thousand Details and Salbany.

They are also joined by Anika Kunst, an instigator of the Catalan scene; Afra, a Dutch vinyl enthusiast making her debut here; and Laia, a recent name to watch out for on the Spanish scene. The Italian Pareal will perform the opening live act.

The line-up also includes many local artists, starting with Vil and Temudo, co-founders of Hayes Collective; Backbone, co-founder of Vinculum; Terzi, co-founder of Extended Records, Francisca Urbano and festival mentors Montero and Tauer.

Tickets are now available and can be purchased here. The first phases of early-bird tickets sold out in less than 30 minutes and are now 106€ with access to all four days of the festival. At a later date, daily tickets will be released subject to the event’s limited capacity.

The festival will include a food court, camping and caravan parks, which can be booked in advance, as well as glamping options in partnership with Domo Camp. Alongside the music programme, there will be sound healing, yoga and meditation sessions.

Until September, the festival’s organisers will be holding a series of events in various parts of Europe, such as Skopje in Macedonia, Granada and Bilbao in Spain, and Porto and Lisbon in Portugal, to promote the festival’s 3rd edition.

LIVE NATION’S ‘ONES TO WATCH’ BACKED BY VODAFONE RETURNS TO SYDNEY IN MARCH! AUSTRALIA’S NEXT CROP OF INSPIRING ARTISTS SET TO SHOWCASE AT THE OXFORD ART FACTORY TAIT MCGREGOR RETURNS FOR 2024 AS THE HOST OF ‘ONES TO WATCH’

by the partae March 13, 2024
written by the partae

Returning for another year of celebrating Australian talent who has gotten local (and in many cases, international) industry heads turning, Live Nation Australia are proud to announce their first installation of their successful ONES TO WATCH series for 2024 – set to go down on Gadigal land at Sydney’s OXFORD ART FACTORY this coming March.

For this Sydney event, ONES TO WATCH Backed By VODAFONE welcomes three wildly talented musicians to the fold: PHEBE STARR, ADRIAN DZVUKE and CHANEL LOREN.

Phebe Starr is an artist who has built a formidable reputation for herself with a strong Australian following, for being a beacon of light and fresh inspiration when it comes to interesting, engaging indie-pop music. Fleshing out a discography with music that represents Phebe’s natural songwriting talent, her sound evokes the same arresting quality like music artists such as Lykke Li and Zara Larsson have made famous.

From the West Coast, Adrian Dzvuke has been hailed as the “Afrobeat King of Australia” – big props, but justified. A true rising star in the scene, Dzvuke’s music has captured the attention of listeners around the country; pure musicality and songwriting meets a natural charisma, making Dzvuke one of Australia’s most exciting new names. Sharing the stage with the likes of Omah Lay, POND, Spacey Jane and more, as well as impressing at events including Splendour in the Grass and BIGSOUND, Dzvuke knows how to command an audience of any kind.

Sydney-based British-Caribbean R&B artist Chanel Loren represents the energy currently weaving its way through the contemporary R&B scene in Australia; energy based on a foundation of strength, unique storytelling and beautiful confidence. Having had a great rise of trajectory in recent years, Loren’s sound refuses to be pigeon-holed, instead desiring to follow unique soundscapes and textures. The vibes, akin to Jorja Smith and SZA, are impossible to ignore, as is Chanel Loren’s building body of work.

Hosting the evening will be the Gen Z voice of Australian music media, Tait McGregor. A multi-platform content creator, the presenter specializes in music, from TV, radio & podcasts, to sweaty mosh pits. Having written for the likes of MTV Australia, Tone Deaf & The AU Review, she has also worked in production for Netflix, STAN, VEVO & more.

The ONES TO WATCH Backed By VODAFONE series has made a solid impact within the Australian music community. Throughout 2023, the series provided industry and fans the exclusive opportunity to see some of the country’s best talent perform in intimate environments across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, highlighting the talent of the current wave of Australian talent primed to make their impact in other markets.

“We’re thrilled to announce that Chanel Loren, Phebe Starr, and Adrian Dzvuke will be joining our upcoming Ones to Watch showcase in Sydney! We’ve been following these talented acts for some time now, so it’s fantastic to have them become part of the OTW platform”
Paul Lynch. Live Nation Australia

Since its establishment in North America, the ONES TO WATCH series has been able to support and promote artists such as Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Halsey early in their careers. So far in Australia, ONES TO WATCH has platformed artists including Blake Rose, Sophisticated Dingo, STUMPS, Forest Claudette, Teenage Joans, Carla Wehbe, ZPLUTO, WIIGZ, Hoodzy, East AV3, Colourblind and Saint Lane at events around the country.
