D’ARCY SPILLER SIGNS TO 100s + 1000s + SHARES POWERFUL NEW SINGLE ‘WILDFIRE’

by the partae February 1, 2020
written by the partae
100s + 1000s is delighted to welcome Melbourne-based artist D’Arcy Spiller to the family as she inks a record deal with the new Mushroom imprint. To celebrate the union, D’Arcy shares her fierce new single ‘Wildfire’, the follow up to her debut release ‘Cry All Night’.

‘Wildfire’ is a euphoric and emotionally charged track that was written in a cosy bedroom set up in a basement with Phebe Starr and Xavier Dunn. D’Arcy says she was reflecting on two somewhat contradicting worlds through wordplay, focussing on the two words that had been repeatedly lingering in her head over a period; ‘wildfire’ and ‘dollhouse’.

“We were talking about what these words represent to me. To me ‘wildfire’ symbolises independence, freedom, having a wild soul. ‘Dollhouse’ has an almost contrasting meaning – a stable house and the perfect life.
I wanted to write a song about a person’s journey between these two words and what they represent, when loving someone so much can cause you to lose your independence. A song about making choices to regain independence, knowing full well that love sometimes doesn’t conquer all and walking away is the best choice you can make. Being in love isn’t easy and the choices we make to stay in that love can sometimes mean sacrificing some happiness, but there’s resilience to be gained through each experience with love.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Cb03FKH4pc&feature=youtu.be
D’Arcy was moved around a lot of her life, living in 4 cities across 3 countries and has attended 9 schools, including Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. This continuous change of scenery formed D’Arcy’s love of travel and set the path for her spiritual beliefs, which is the inspiration behind much of her current song-writing.

Her enchanting first release ‘Cry All Night’ is a song for anyone who has lost, felt lost, loved or struggled to let go and move on. Debuting on triple j Unearthed, the track was welcomed by an outpouring of glowing host reviews from the likes of Declan Byrne, Claire Mooney and Max Quinn, and peaked at #9 on the station’s Unearthed chart. D’Arcy also took to the stage in support of Fergus James in Melbourne and Brisbane last year.

At first glance, ‘Wildfire’ is a fiery continuation of D’Arcy’s unique brand of spine-tingling music, however the release sees her songwriting and storytelling elevated to new levels and 100s + 1000s is delighted to welcome her to the label family.

BAJILLIONAIRE LAYS BARE HIS SOCIAL ANXIETY IN NEW SINGLE ‘I FEEL SO ALONE IN THIS CLUB RN’

by the partae February 1, 2020
written by the partae

“Outrageously good! Bajillionaire deserving of every dollar from the sounds of it.”
– Dave Ruby Howe, triple j Unearthed

“Sydney musician Bajillionaire has blossomed into a producer amongst our emerging favourites, with a consistent streak of soaring, synth-rooted singles tracking his growth, evolution and increasing strength as a songwriter and producer.”
– Pilerats

“It’s very clear to see that Sydney producer Charlie Hole aka Bajillionaire is paving the the way for the next generation of muso’s and songwriters.”
– Purple Sneakers

Sydney producer Bajillionaire today releases his first single of 2020 (premiered yesterday via Pilerats), and with it unveils a change in direction and a new raw honesty in his music. In ‘I Feel So Alone In This Club RN’ Bajillionaire lays bare his own social anxiety in a frank, truthful and sometimes very funny way.

“This song is just me being very honest about my anxieties,” explains Bajillionaire, aka 21-year-old Charlie Hold. “I don’t really like clubs, I don’t really like the idea of clubbing, and going out just makes me wish I had a vice of some sort. I hope you like it. It really is just me on a page (or in a song). Honest, dumb and slightly inappropriate.”

With lyrics like, “This club is way too loud, And I just want to sleep,” Bajillionaire describes a very relatable night out that can be a worst nightmare situation for anyone who experiences social anxiety. The stripped back and acoustic feel of ‘I Feel So Alone In This Club RN’ also signals a change in style from Bajillionaire’s previous releases including ‘Empty’ and ‘Sleepwalking’.

“Sonically, I wrote this song initially assuming it would just never come out, but as time passed and I realised: “I want to sing and perform and keep making songs like this”, it became almost this little joke that I was only going to make this kind of music going forward, that slowly became more and more serious, until it informed the sound of everything else coming.

With over 1.8 million streams across his catalogue, Bajillionaire has hit the Spotify Viral charts and garnered rave reviews from triple j Unearthed tastemakers, all by the tender age of 21. A multi-talented producer, songwriter and vocalist, Bajillionaire has also been a saxophone  player  since  childhood, allowing him to gain a  strong  grasp  on  music  theory  early  on and helping him find his  feet  in  the  production  scene.

Bajillionaire’s ‘I Feel So Alone In This Club RN’ is OUT NOW!

Marking their first release for the new decade, Sydney production duo Cosmo’s Midnight have partnered with globally-celebrated pop artist Ruel to deliver their adoring serenade ‘Down For You’, out via Black Butter Records (UK), Sony Music (Australia) and RCA Records (USA).   ‘Down For You’ celebrates the forward-thinking abilities that have propelled both Australian acts into the spotlight, with Ruel’s alluring pull amplified by Cosmo’s Midnight’s playful production and signature sonic universe. From the outset, the unmistakable grin of the duo’s pop-infused sound and funky drum beat forge the hook, while Ruel’s souled words and subtle R&B speak to the throws of love and hypnotic devotion, where nothing else can exist. The track sees a perfect unification of their diverse talents, each party effortlessly moving between genres and delivering moments the world can’t peel their eyes from.   We met Ruel a few years ago at Groovin The Moo. He joined us on stage for an impromptu on-stage collab. We immediately knew we had to write a song together. The stars didn’t align until a year later, but we made up for lost time and wrote ‘Down For You’. In the studio we were basically talking about how you do things you don’t want to for people you like ala Bobby Caldwell ‘What You Won’t Do’ - and it all flowed from there. We had the song basically done that day, but had to back n forth a bit to finesse the details. Ruel’s a great guy and has taste in music that would make 17 yo Cosmo’s Midnight a bit envious. It was a wholesome experience getting to know him and write ‘Down For You’ together." Cosmo’s Midnight   “Was so much fun writing this one with the boys. The song kinda wrote itself in the session we had. We all felt like we really related to the story we wrote. So happy to finally have a song out with Cosmos and Pat, love u guys.” Ruel   Across 2019, Cosmo’s Midnight gifted tastes of fresh directions that they have been mastering, include the effervescent ‘C.U.D.I (Can U Dig It)’ (now sitting on over 8 million global streams), the lush disco-leaning sound of ‘Have It All’ feat. Age.Sex.Location and the stick grooves of ‘It’s Love’ feat. Matthew Young, plus a killer rendition of Moloko’s ‘Sing It Back’ in their Like A Version debut. The duo continued kicking goals on the stage in 2019 playing festivals across Australia including St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Listen Out, charming crowds and selling out headline shows across the US and Asia, embarking on a wild Australia wide tour with sold out shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s The Forum. In 2018, the brothers found their stride on the road to their widely-acclaimed debut, triple j Feature Album ‘What Comes Next’, which featured the now gold-certified favourites ‘History’, ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Get To Know’ and solidified their mark in a globally-reaching audience.   Pop phenomenon Ruel has quickly been making a name for himself since breakout single ‘Dazed & Confused’, which earned him a 2018 ARIA title as Best Breakthrough Artist and over 100 million streams on Spotify alongside fellow favourite, ‘Younger’. Launching the global fame, he began touring internationally and across Australia including multiple sold-out shows at the Sydney Opera House. Since, he’s released his 2019 EP Free Time (now reaching over 128 million Spotify streams), achieved platinum-status for three singles including most recent hit, ‘Painkiller’, and has been announced to play St. Jerome’s Laneway tour 2020.   With a busy touring schedule, Cosmo’s Midnight have taken off the new year with a spot at Australia’s Party in the Paddock next month, an expansive live show, the release of ‘Down For You’ and the promise of plenty more music to come. Lucifour M is a band whose multifaceted and multidimensional music features many references to cinematic works.  The two musicians Michele Ducci and Marco Frattini have already been playing together as “M+A” for a while when they had the chance to perform as opening act for Bryan Ferry at Glastonbury Festival. It was there in the backstage that the idea of founding Lucifour M as a full band came into being when Ducci played new sketches of songs to Frattini. In the further course Michele Manzo (bass, guitar and keys) and Mattia Dallara  (samplers and keys) already part of better known Amycanbe, should come to the project and complete the band as a quartet. The main recordings of Lucifour M’s debut EP “UNO”, which has been released on Sonar Kollektiv Berlin in September 2019, have been produced within the scope of three extensive studio sessions where the four have recorded live versions of their jamming and playing. Dog is first groovy brand new single out for you to enjoy together with amazing animation video by Emanuele Kabu. “Valentine” has been alse released as a single, here you can find a live version. And recently also “Hell0” which will be included in next EP out 28 Feb 2020. https://www.beatport.com/track/hell0-original-mix/12545517 http://www.sonarkollektiv.com/artists/lucifour-m/ http://www.youtube.com/lucifourm http://www.twitter.com/lucifourm http://www.facebook.com/lucifourm http://www.instagram.com/lucifourm http://www.pinterest.com/lucifourm https://open.spotify.com/artist/4dmDKw812eerKZ2bI7Eadl

Lucifour M

by the partae February 1, 2020
written by the partae

What is your name and role within Lucifour M?

My name is Michele Ducci, I am the main singer in the group….

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?

We work between London and Berlin: We have our stduio in Italy, London and Berlim are our labels’: Sonar Kollektiv e !K7 records.

Music scene in Berlin or London is very good…In Italy…well there are a lot of great bands honestly….but not a real music scene, just TRAP 🙂 except few venues or exceptions.

Your new single FOX is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting for this single?

The process, starting from jam session, is unconscious. We begin to play and slowly themes, melodies start popping up, which we resonate until they become clear. This is the freest part, sometimes we find ourselves playing metal or classic jazz. After a bit of labor limae, we record. The studio part, from sound design to the mix, is instead super surgical and manic.

How did you go about writing FOX?

We wanted to write a song containing other songs…like in a movie.

That’s one of our fevorite songs.

FOX is off your next EP ‘DUE’  being released via Sonar Kollektiv Berlin / K7 Records London, where and when did you record/produce?

Here n our own studio, in Italy, in the end of 2019.

How did you approach the recording/production process?

We play live, to mantain that enegery that just live music can give. This as the first part of the process, the second one is a long work of sound design and mix. For mastering we trust the great Dave Cooley (L.A.)

Who did you work with during the recording and production?

All the songs are written, mixed and prodouced by us except for the master, done by Sir Dave Cooley.

What programs/instruments did you use?

Logic Pro Tools & Ableton… we use a lot of  instruments, from Juno to Cp70 and iPhone 🙂

What do you have planned for ‘Due’?

There are a lot of things this year. We were born between the end of 2019 and this 2020: we started with the participation in Worldwide fm, single releases going on radio and newspapers. There is a lot of interest around Lucifour M at the moment. .. we are currently defining some releases: a video-étude made together with the collective of directors called Zapruder, currently nominated for the Golden Bear at the international film festival in Berlin. A New York director, Robert Daniel Martin, has inserted some of our songs for his next film “State Of The Game”; we are setting up and defining the live and the tour. There are many things: we will be at the Great Escape Festival!! This coming May in Brighton and – this is our personal thing – we can’t wait to release the remix of Dog, our first single, made by the legendary Daniele Baldelli !! There are many other things we can’t say, but this 2020 has a nice wind.

You’ll be playing The Great Escape TOur in Brighton UK and will be touring Europe, the UK and Italy, how do prepare for live shows?

Excercising a lot!,  for my breath and taking care of the whole show, We are setting up a real show. Just these days we are taking care of the visual part, the ascenography, it will be real fun.
When on tour, what do you find most rewarding and challenging?

Well…we just had few gigs from Berlin to Italy, never really tour yet..but playing live is a sort of nirvana we really enjoy…then the touch with audience….always different and rewarding in itself….basically is the best of dreaming and the best of living stuck in a moment…

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Puma Blue and Dualipa.

What do you like to do away from music?

There’s nothing away from music.

What’s planned for 2020?

Conquer the world?! 🙂

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Fish and cheeps?!?!…Unsual for 3 italians, isn’it… 😉 …not a paricular place maybe…uhmmm….hanging aroung in different places, enviroments, people…that is the best…problably, even though in our studio we really feel like home.

There are also interactive art installations all around the site, and in 2020 the theme is ‘We Are Nature’, wherein all artists have been encouraged to keep our fragile environment at the centre of their planning and production. Beyond the music you can explore a Mind Body Soul healing area which is a holistic space where hundreds of contributors come together to share knowledge and skills with the guests, including a full program of panels and talks, yoga and bodywork, therapies, workshops, sound healing, hot tubs and everything in between.

The countdown is now on to the most exciting and accomplished Noisily yet.

Julian Jordan finished the decade with a string of big smashes last year, ranging from bangers like ‘Next Level’ and ‘Oldskool’ to sing-along anthems like ‘To The Wire’. He’s now ready to kick off this year with his first monstrous track, and it’s one for the tougher-edged dancefloors out there. ‘Oh Lord’ is a rip-roaring house track with some dramatic rap vocals and darkly-tinged breakdowns. Crunching bass tones are interspersed with skipping hi-hat patterns and taut tom tom rhythms, with menacing synth motifs and haunting bell chimes. The combined effect is to make a track that has plenty of energy and impact throughout.  With the track being top 10 trending for a week now and already receiving great support from Tiësto, Martin Garrix and Dada life, this track is set to be one of the biggest Jordan bangers yet! The track is a collaboration with Daijo, who has released on Musical Freedom, collaborated with Tory Lanez, and remixed Tiësto & Dzeko feat. Preme & Post Malone’s smash ‘Jackie Chain’. He makes for quite the musical sparring partner with Jordan, bringing a similarly fresh sound palette and cutting-edge production technique. Julian has kicked off 2020 with gigs at Electric Mountain Festival, Ministry Of Sound and V2 in Japan, and is heading to Ultra Miami, Escapade in Canada and Medusa in Spain. Check out the full tour dates on his website https://www.julianjordan.com.

Artists: R3HAB, ZAYN & Jungleboi Title: Flames (Steve Aoki Remix) Label: CYB3RPVNK Release date: January 31, 2020 Download / Stream Just a few months after its original release, R3HAB, ZAYN, and Jungleboi's acclaimed collaboration "Flames" got a remix by the two-time Grammy-nominated producer/DJ Steve Aoki. Trading the original's soothing beats for funky breakdowns and driving basslines, Steve Aoki flips "Flames" on its head and makes it ready for a night out. ZAYN's infamously velvety vocals remain primarily intact for the remix, adding a sensual touch to this dancefloor killer. The single was one of R3HAB's most talked-about releases from 2019, demonstrating his dynamic process as a producer who is at home experimenting with many different sounds. Now roping in the legendary producer/DJ for remix duties, R3HAB is truly taking it to the next level in the new decade. "Steve Aoki and I go way back to my early days of touring and releasing music. With "Flames" being one of my most significant releases to date, I couldn't be happier that Steve has agreed to make this remix of the song. It's a real original twist on the track - which is what a remix should be, of course! It's fire, so enjoy!" - R3HAB "It was a lot of fun remixing this one for R3HAB, Jungleboi, and ZAYN. Such a massive track, I had to make more of a club vibe for it. Let's see your dance choreography, and all the DJs bang it out in the club!" - Steve Aoki Over the last eight years, the Dutch/Moroccan artist Fadil El Ghoul - better known as R3HAB - has established himself as a leader at the forefront of modern electronic music. In 2017, R3HAB independently released his debut album "Trouble" through his imprint CYB3RPVNK, which amassed over a half-billion streams globally and officially placed R3HAB among electronic music's heavy hitters. He made number 14 on DJ Mag's Top 100 list in 2019, topping the charts with tracks like "Lullaby" and "Hold On Tight," while his sophomore album "The Wave," revealing more complex, emotional and experimental layers of himself, has amassed over 250 million streams on Spotify alone. In 2019 R3HAB's "All Around The World" with A Touch of Class quickly became his biggest ever record already topping 200M streams across platforms and achieving gold & platinum status in 8 countries. This week, Nahko And Medicine For The People announces their uplifting and vulnerable new album, ‘Take Your Power Back,’ will be out May 15th on SideOneDummy records. Recorded in Los Angeles and Executive Produced by cut&dry and Dan Fratoni, ‘Take Your Power Back’ grapples with grief, trauma, reconciliation, self-love and acceptance, fusing conscious folk-rock with alternative R&B production to create a genre bending body of sound.

Nahko And Medicine For The People also release their new single, “Garden,” a propulsive track about growth, unity and the meaning of home. “It takes courage to tend the garden of your body, mind, and soul,” Nahko told Relix of the song.

Like the band’s previous singles, the release of “Garden” intentionally coincides with the lunar calendar and more specifically, the arrival of the new moon. The new moon is recognized in astrology as a time of resetting intentions and direction. For Nahko and his fans, it is a celebration of new music.

“I had half a year just to cultivate and create on a deeper level with this record,” Nahko explains. “I realized that I hadn’t allowed myself to explore some of the darker parts of my psyche before because I’d never had the language for it. Sometimes you have to go through the mud to find the flowers.”

Early singles “Lifeguard” and “Slow Down” have earned praise from Paste and American Songwriter, and “Slow Down” landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday Canada playlist the week it came out. “Lifeguard” uses the metaphor of drowning as an allegory for society’s need to make sweeping change, while “Slow Down” – a song that Nahko calls “a lullaby and ode to our plant teachers” – encourages listeners to do just that: live slowly, more intentionally, and with gratitude.

Born Joel Miguel Nahkohe-ese Parayno of Puerto Rican, Filipino, and Apache origins, Nahko was adopted at birth into a conservative Christian family. Instead of choosing to accept the orthodox lifestyle inherited from his adoptive parents, Nahko elected to challenge them. At the age of 17, he left his adopted family home in Portland, Oregon behind, headed first to Alaska and then to Hawaii, embarking on a voyage of self-discovery and marking the beginning of a deconstruction process, a reclaiming of identity, and the rebirth of Nahko and his unique heritage. Nahko released his debut album ‘On The Verge’ in 2011, but his breakthrough came two years later with ‘Dark As Night,’ which landed in the Top Ten on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Over the course of two more albums, Nahko solidified his reputation along the way as an outspoken activist and advocate for both social and environmental justice. Today, Nahko And Medicine For The People have built a fervent fan community (self-dubbed The Medicine Tribe) and lend support to charities close that resonate with the group’s core values, including Amazon Watch, Indigenous Regeneration, and Honor the Earth.

Nahko And Medicine For The People have sold out major venues including Red Rocks Amphitheater and performed at festivals like Glastonbury, Bonnaroo and more. They will head out on an extensive international tour this year, including a performance at Lollapalooza Chile in March and a return to Red Rocks in June.

Carnage’s “Blitzkrieg” ft. Nazaar & Murda Receives Hardstyle Remix by Belgian Headliner Coone

Artists: Carnage
Title: Blitzkrieg feat. Nazaar & Murda (Coone Remix)
Label: Heavyweight Records/EMPIRE
Release date: January 30, 2020

Last summer, Carnage took the EDM world by storm with re-entering the scene with “Blitzkrieg” after a long hiatus, and now Coone is giving the track an epic revival. The Belgian DJ and producer lays on his signature hardstyle sound in his rendition, trading Carnage’s trap influences for proper rapid-fire kickdrums, reverberating bass, and plenty of screeching synths. The real gem of the track occurs around the halfway mark, where Coone’s musical sorcery leads into a drop for the ages. Listeners can still enjoy the original’s length vocal interlude filled with classic Carnage attitude amid the intense BPM. This is Coone’s first time collaborating with the Heavyweight label head, whose latest release was “Hella Neck” with Tyga, OHGEESY, and Takeoff.

Carnage has made a name through breaking the rules and staying true to himself. The Las Vegas-based artist established himself as the reigning champion of hard bass and trap music with early hits, later being one of the first artists to transition electronic music into hip-hop, rap and urban styles. Before launching his label Heavyweight Records in 2017, Carnage put out hit after hit such as “I Like Tuh” with ilovemakonnen, ‘Bricks‘ with Migos, ‘Down for Me‘ and ‘Guala‘ with G-Eazy, ‘Homie‘ with Meek Mill and Yung Thug, ‘Learn How to Watch‘ with Mac Miller and MadeInTYO and ‘iShyne‘ with Lil Pump. Heavyweight Records is a home for hard bass and hip-hop music. Since then, he has gathered a formidable crew of companions on the imprint, from the masked mastermind GRAVEDGR, Gommi, Sludge, Lil Texas, and more. After taking a break from music and touring in 2018 to focus on his mental health, Carnage dove right back into it with his hits “Letting People Go,” and “Wait For Me” with G-Eazy and Wiz Khalifa. In partnership with the RAICES foundation, the music video for “Letting People Go” raised awareness for immigrants at the US / Mexico border and retraced Carnage’s families voyage into America, as covered by TIME and dozens of other outlets. He also contributes his influence and time to this charitable causes close to his heart. Nonetheless, Carnage could not resist producing what he loves the most, bass music, and released “Blitzkrieg,” “Slot Machine,” and “Holy Moly” all within a month. The ‘Holy Moly‘ music video was declared a “Bloody Hysterical Short Film” by Billboard.

When I’m in that critical state of mind, I try to suspend judgement for that current state and I find it reassuring to remember that it’s temporary - a process." As for 'Lonely.' Loose Tooth says, "We wrote ‘Lonely’ at the end of 2019. It is about an experience we witnessed when we were teenagers. #MeToo brought up a lot of realizations for many people, and for us; thinking back to us as young and vulnerable women, finishing high school and feeling invincible; we didn't realize that we could be taken advantage of by predatory and powerful men. ‘Lonely’ is about the power dynamics and manipulation of these relationships, and the lasting cycle of trauma that they can bring." "We wrote this song to capture the nervous anticipation of desire, the delicate chase of seduction, the highs and lows of obsession, and the humour in between," stated singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston. "To want to possess someone, make them desire you, fall for you, only to learn that to lust is not to love." Braids began teasing their new album last fall with the release of 'Eclipse (Ashley),' a song dedicated to Standell-Preston's best friend that sinks deep into a feeling of reverie for nature, the love found in friendship, and the vital essence of personal reflection. It was praised by Pitchfork, Stereogum, Paste, and The New York Times who stated "Raphaelle Standell-Preston sings with openhearted earnestness." A luscious and expansive release, Shadow Offering leads us through a sonic tapestry of narrative. With heartbreaking honesty and precision, listeners traverse a nuanced and complicated world: one full of beautiful contradiction. Although the album directs itself at the failures of people to love and be loved, it also seeks to restore justice and attain blissful union. Its arc crests through the dark towards the light and learns how to dance with the dizzying rhythms of the heart. The songs bubble, sustain, dissolve, expand, and retract. The album recounts pain, heartbreak, anger, but also lifts the heart towards hope. "There's more hopefulness in this record than anything else I've written," said Standell-Preston. "I think the songs are more human, more tangible, more honest." Braids is comprised of Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Austin Tufts, and Taylor Smith. Formed in 2007 in Alberta, they have solidified a decade-long reputation for their musical ingenuity and established themselves as one of Canada's most acclaimed art rock bands, garnering two Polaris Prize shortlists and winning the 2016 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. With Standell-Preston's vocals as the pillar of their sound, Braids weave organic and electronic elements together amidst a lyrical landscape that is intimate, explosive, and emotionally-immersive. Their albums have earned praise from Pitchfork, NPR, New York Times, T Magazine, NME, and The Guardian among many others. THE GLOW was recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy award winning producer Stuart Price (The Killers, New Order, Madonna) First single ‘Silver’ is the band's fastest streaming song to date + came in at #20 in triple j’s hottest 100 DMA’S recently supported Liam Gallagher on his UK Arena tour The band's March Brixton Academy show sold out in less than 24 hours + sold over 40k tickets on their last headline UK tour Platinum records for ‘Delete’ and ‘Believe’ (Cher Cover). Gold records for ‘In The Air’, ‘Lay Down’, ‘Step Up The Morphine’ Currently touring Laneway festival I OH YOU are thrilled to announce DMA’S third studio album THE GLOW will be released into the world on Friday 24 April, recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Price. Today, the Sydney trio share the second cut from the album – the dark yet euphoric track ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’. Premiered overnight via triple j Good Nights and Radio 1 in the UK, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is an unexpected change of pace. Inspired by early 90s rave culture, the track is a nod to bands like Underworld, The Prodigy, Orbital and The Chemical Brothers, and furthers DMA’S incorporation of digital beats and sequencers in their songwriting process. Sitting in striking contrast to the song’s repetitive structure, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is about humanity’s struggle to be adaptable - as creatures who are fundamentally resistant to change. Breaking away from the minimalist electronica movement, the track features unapologetically busy beatscapes, a driving 4/4 pace and an adrenaline-pumping chorus showcasing Tommy O’Dell’s signature euphoric vocals. The accompanying video, directed by Bill Bleakley, was shot in Thailand and features locals from the area. VIDEO: 'Life Is A Game Of Changing' by DMA'S We filmed the clip like a documentary, with a tiny crew. For me, this clip feels like a snapshot in time for this group of friends. - Bill Bleakley First single from the record ‘Silver’ is the band’s fastest streaming song to date, with over 4 million streams in just three months and peaking at #34 on Spotify UK’s Viral 50 Chart and #50 on Australia’s Viral 50. The track has seen BBC Radio 1 plays, was named Record of the Week at Radio X and was added to the Radio X & Absolute Radio Daytime Playlist, and Evening List at Virgin Radio UK. Locally, the track was the #1 most played on triple j over the summer and has seen strong support across the Triple M and the HIT networks. ‘Silver’ and ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ set the scene for what is promising to be a monumental album from DMA’S. Recorded at Westlake Studios in West Hollywood and Rak Studios London, THE GLOW is a contemporary pop record that sees the band fulfill their world class potential with a collection of songs that are destined for arenas. From their emotive heart to their towering, anthemic hooks, the core traits that have earned the band a growing global following are all in place. But with the help of Price, DMA’S have elevated both sides of their sonic spectrum to new heights and one thing is certain: this is the most fully realised of the band’s three albums to date. DMA’S have had a whirlwind six years since exploding onto the scene in 2014 with their debut single ‘Delete’. They have released two critically acclaimed albums - Hills End (2016) and For Now (2018) – both of which charted Top 10 in the ARIA Charts and resulted in ARIA nominations for Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release. Forging their reputation abroad, the latter earned a #13 chart position in the UK as well as festival slots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds festivals. 2019 saw the Sydney natives play sold out shows across the UK and Ireland, support Liam Gallagher’s UK arena tour and sell 5 thousand tickets to their March 2020 Brixton Academy show in less than 24 hours. Back home they scored a Platinum record for ‘Delete’ plus Gold discs for ‘Lay Down’ and ‘Step Up The Morphine’. This year, the band will play Manchester’s Sounds of the City festival headlining the 8 thousand capacity Castlefield Bowl on 9 July (with tickets selling out in a couple of hours), before embarking on their UK album tour - which will see them play their biggest London headline show to date at Alexandra Palace in October, as well as a sold out Australian bushfire benefit gig to raise funds for Wildlife Victoria. As we enter the new decade, DMA’S are cementing themselves as a powerhouse act no longer on the brink of blowing up, but basking in the international spotlight. The band will be treating home crowds to new music at Laneway Festival in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Fremantle over the coming weeks. I OH YOU are thrilled to announce DMA’S third studio album THE GLOW will be released into the world on Friday 24 April, recorded and mixed by multiple Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Price.

Sitting in striking contrast to the song’s repetitive structure, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is about humanity’s struggle to be adaptable – as creatures who are fundamentally resistant to change.

We filmed the clip like a documentary, with a tiny crew. For me, this clip feels like a snapshot in time for this group of friends. – Bill Bleakley

First single from the record ‘Silver’ is the band’s fastest streaming song to date, with over 4 million streams in just three months and peaking at #34 on Spotify UK’s Viral 50 Chart and #50 on Australia’s Viral 50.

They have released two critically acclaimed albums – Hills End (2016) and For Now (2018) – both of which charted Top 10 in the ARIA Charts and resulted in ARIA nominations for Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release.

This year, the band will play Manchester’s Sounds of the City festival headlining the 8 thousand capacity Castlefield Bowl on 9 July (with tickets selling out in a couple of hours), before embarking on their UK album tour – which will see them play their biggest London headline show to date at Alexandra Palace in October, as well as a sold out Australian bushfire benefit gig to raise funds for Wildlife Victoria.

DESERT SESSIONS Release video for ‘Easier Said Than Done’ Announce ‘The Bizarre Bazaar’, a Bi-Weekly Series of Desert Sessions Inspired Artwork Auctions for Charity with Limited Edition Quilt by Ben Venom

Praise for Desert Sessions Vol. 11 & 12

“One of the project’s most impressive line up of players” —The New York Times

“The latest volume in the (and first in 16 years) sees Homme bringing together another impressive hodgepodge of artists”—Entertainment Weekly

“Breaking the 16-year drought between sittings, Desert Sessions Vol 11 & 12 once again captures a fission that can only occur when musical heroes collide.” – STACK

“There’s enough rock star swagger here to live vicariously through, and the sense that the Joshua Tree party will ride again for years to come. So crack open that fancy bottle and let your hair down.” – NME

Josh Homme’s collaborative motley crew Desert Sessions return with the music video to ‘Easier Said Than Done’, from Vols. 11 & 12 (aka respectively Arrivederci Despair and Tightwads & Nitwits & Critics & Heels). Directed by photographer-director Chapman Baehler, this nightmare vision contains fascist-humiliating watersports, pig-men ejaculating glitter, a little defenestration, some light immolation… and Joshua Homme on roller skates.

The unique delight of Desert Sessions lies in unexpected collaborations between musicians who might otherwise never work together, and alongside the new video, Desert Sessions have teamed up with artists in other media including palm-painting, sculpture, jewelry, film-making, and, in this instance, quilting, to create one-of-a-kind pieces of art inspired by, and indelibly connected to — the music, for a series of charity auctions benefiting The Sweet Stuff Foundation. For the inaugural auction in this ‘Bizarre Bazaar,’ hosted on a dedicated eBay page, acclaimed textile artist Ben Venom has created a 3′ X 3′ quilt expressing the sounds of Desert Sessions in fabric and thread:

“I describe my art as a collision between fine art, craft, and the fringes of society,” says Venom. “Working with textiles, I contrast the often menacing and aggressive counterculture components of gangs, punk/metal music, and the occult with the comforts of domesticity. For the Crawling Death quilt, the fragility of the materials and their assaulting imagery are brought together in the form of a functional piece of art. This piece was made in collaboration with the Desert Sessions and it has been an honor to participate in the project.”

The auctions will continue with new Desert Sessions artwork and video content dropping every 2 weeks.

For further edification, just watch the video over and over until the next one. (And keep hitting that “Place Bid” button. Remember, there’s no reserve!)

Ending a 16-year hiatus since its last installment, Desert Sessions returned in October 2019 with the most ambitious entries to date in its expansive and elusive catalog. Vols. 11 & 12 were recorded (mostly) in December 2018 at Rancho De La Luna studios in Joshua Tree, CA, with Queens of the Stone Age founder and Desert Sessions ringleader/producer Joshua Homme enlisting a cast of players including Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White), Les Claypool (Primus), Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Superwolf, Endless Boogie), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London), Libby Grace and of course Töôrnst Hülpft.
