Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? Melbourne. I don’t really know if there’s a scene here. There are plenty of people making great music despite the odds, but it’s no Laurel Canyon.  How did you first start playing music? By teaching myself how to play along to Bob Dylan songs. Then Bacharach songs. Then I started writing.  How did your new project Perfect Moment come about? Well I made 5 Oh Mercy albums and felt like a change.

EVA SWAN – ‘LET ME HOLD YOU’
EVA SWAN RECORDS
OUT NOW

Following the release of her 2019 two-track, debut EP, ‘Equality’, the multifaceted Belgian unveils a new four-track EP entitled ‘Let Me Hold You’. Already receiving early support from Mixmag, ‘Let Me Hold You’ is out now via ‘Eva Swan Records’.

Exploring elements of industrial sounds and influences which have become the trademark of Eva Swan, ‘Vous voulez rester?’ and ‘Together’ use haunting vocal samples to contrast against powerful percussion and modular esque synths. ‘Let Me Hold You’ plays with rests and sirens to conjure a driving and powerful journey, whilst ‘Keep The Faith’s’ dystopian melody creates an assured dance floor production which will find its way into many sets of like-minded artists.

Eva Swan has a strong foundation in music, having started to learn music theory at the age of 8, along with the guitar and flute by the age of 12, before the piano later at 18. Eva Swan’s entry point into electronic music came through working in clubs such as Belgium’s famous Café d’Anvers and Kompass Club, along with EGG London, before taking a one-way flight to Ibiza.

As a promoter on the white isle, Eva Swan became immersed in the scene, becoming well-acquainted with clubs, DJ’s and the variation of sounds around her, accelerating her propensity for club-geared sounds. Teaming this with her early proficiency for classical forms and instruments, Eva’s sound encompasses a distinct appreciation for raw music elements. Having appeared on line-ups at venues such as the previously mentioned, Café d’Anvers Antwerp, and Fuse Brussels, alongside the likes of I HATE MODELS, Amelie Lens, Deborah De Luca and OXIA, ‘Equality’, Eva Swan’s debut EP paved the way for her ascension into electronic music – gaining media support from Complex, Soundwall, Attack Magazine and KALTBLUT.

Tracklist:

  1. Eva Swan – Vous voulez rester?
  2. Eva Swan – Together
  3. Eva Swan – Let Me Hold You
  4. Eva Swan – Keep Faith

Released Friday 24 January 2020, single ‘I Should Know Better’ is a pastel pop-loaded, RnB filled jam that serves up an explosion of kaleidoscope synths and confetti covered beats. With its catchy hooks and pulsing bass line heartbeat, this spicy number written with the pop-prowess of Evangeline, has been getting hips shaking and arms flailing across dance floors and festival stages. Sitting above all of the heavily pigmented makeup palette of sounds is the warm honey-soaked vocal lines of Sully, clearly within her sonic sphere of comfort. “I’ve written for so many different projects over the years - from blues/rock to folk and everything in between. But I keep coming back to pop music,” she says. “At the end of the day, I’ve known forever that I’m completely addicted to the complex simplicities of the pop writing process. Now, I get to throw myself head-first into that love.” ‘I Should Know Better’ sifts through the trials faced from toxic behaviour and the inevitable realisation of self-worth. “This track follows an incident with a cocky mutual friend who I had kindly offered to drop into the city after a party. After some questionable comments towards me the guy flipped his shit in the backseat of my car with a tirade of abuse hauled my way. It was at that point that I made the conscious decision to never let an asshole get the better of me.” The music video reflects just that. Captured as a one-take tracking shot by Gary Robertson of Jarrah Film, the ‘I Should Know Better’ video screams ambience with the dim lighting and pops of neon pink and purple serving as the background to a tense narrative, as the tracking shot lens follows Sully through her house, moving through the tension and uneasy dynamic of her relationship. Sully looks every bit of a pop superstar in the clip. Styled by Geelong based artist stylist, Sara De La Cruz, she sinks effortlessly into her newfound seat at the head of the pop table. MUSHROOM GROUP ANNOUNCES VERY FIRST PODCAST SERIES TITLED 180 GRAMS LAUNCHES WITH THE TESKEY BROTHERS RUN HOME SLOW PODCAST

by the partae June 23, 2020
written by the partae

Mushroom is excited to unveil the release of its first ever original podcast, 180 Grams. 180 Grams is an ongoing series which tells the stories behind remarkable albums, inviting fans into the lives of some of the most renowned and loved artists of our time. Season one of the 180 Grams podcast uncovers the highs and lows and untold stories from Warrandyte locals to international rock’n’soul group; The Teskey Brothers.

180 grams is the weight of a collector’s edition vinyl record. Unlike the stories in the show, 180-gram records glide smoothly on turntables thanks to the weight.

Across six episodes, as the debut season of 180 Grams delves into the making of The Teskey Brothers’ acclaimed sophomore studio album Run Home Slow – listeners are taken on the journey from pre-production all the way through to sold-out international tours.

180 Grams is a tag-along adventure of creative struggle, teenage friendship and global fame with a universally loved band from the country town of Warrandyte, Victoria. Join music journalist and the Run Home Slow podcast host, Mikey Cahill, each Tuesday over the next six weeks as The Teskey Brothers bare all in learning the ropes of the music business and the pressures of making a second album filled with nuance, tension and carefully crafted songs.

The podcast is filled with little treasures for The Teskey Brothers super fans, including a pattern in the instrumental music used throughout the six-episode series. In order of appearance on the album, instrumental tracks are used to score the narration and guests in each episode: ‘Let Me Let You Down’ (track 1) before switching to stems from ‘Carry You’ for the second half.

Many people who work intimately with the band were interviewed for the series; 32 in total across the USA, UK, Germany and Australia including Josh Teskey (vocals and rhythm guitar), Sam Teskey (lead guitar), Brendon Love (bass guitar) and Liam Gough (drums) who make up The Teskey Brothers. Fun fact: Episode 1 incorporates more than 210 individual bits of audio.

Episode 1: I Bet They Can’t Do It Live is available now on all major podcast streaming services.

Listen here

‘You could tell that they’d been a band for 10 years. They just sounded unbelievable, you know, as tight as they do now, how often do you get to see a band who’s had 10 years to perfect their craft?’
–
Marihuzka Cornelius, A&R Manager, Ivy League Records
‘Let’s get this clear, signing the Teskey Brothers, I’ve signed many acts in my career, but signing the Teskey Brothers was without a doubt the proudest moment of my career, partly due to the fact that it took so long.’
– Danny Roberts, former A&R Manager, Decca/Universal
‘My warning to them and the manager Jeremy was do not give a free hand to any famous producers. Because as long as I can see is you suddenly got famous because your sound is so unique in 21st century because you are doing everything like as if you are in a 60s.’
– Nao Anzai, sound engineer
MIKEY CAHILL, HOST OF 180 GRAMS

Mikey Cahill is a culture consultant who is a jack of all trades, master of some.

IZZY DAY RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE MOTIONS

by the partae June 23, 2020
written by the partae

Today, Gold Coast born, now Melbourne resident, Izzy Day, drops a video for her debut single Motions.

For Motions, Izzy Day has teamed up with Melbourne electro-hip hop producers The Munkyds, with the with the result being a beautiful ambient mix of electronic, soul, folk and hip hop.

“Motions is about finding fluidity in love. It’s about learning to surrender to the fluctuating moments of being in a relationship. It’s a song about the discovery of the shadows and light we see in each other, as individuals, yet finding a way to navigate these reflections of ourselves, together” Izzy Day

Using her dynamically layered live music production; Izzy Day is able to create an atmosphere that cannot be ignored. Izzy’s unique, heartfelt music productions, allow her audiences to create a space, feel and surrender to the moment, joining her for the journey. Izzy infuses her rich distinctive vocals along with luscious soulful textures and hip-hop beats, leaving her audiences captivated and inspired to the core.

Izzy’s creations are not only rich in dynamics musically, but also lyrically. In her own words “My lyrics are a reflection of my own journey through life in the moment it unfolds, but also a way to express and connect to the true essence of who we really are.”

Izzy was exposed to a medley of music genres and artists from an early age, her first inspiration being her multi-instrumentalist father.

Beginning her career as a vocalist at the age of four and as a guitarist and songwriter at fourteen, she clearly has always had music running through her veins. Mastering the art of live looping, she became her own band, performing multiple shows along the east coast and playing at various festivals. She is now based in Melbourne, immersing herself in many new musical ventures, further pursuing her dream.

The Munkyds, or The ‘kyds’, as they are often referred to, started making music in a bedroom, with stockings as pop filters and egg cartons stuck to the walls for acoustics. Over time they grew to develop a sound that caught the attention of Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, which led to their first placements in Australia (Get ‘em girls remix – Jessica Mauboy featuring Snoop Dogg and Stan Walker’s Choose You Remix).

Since then The Munkyds have worked with music icons Jermaine Dupri and Eddie Weathers (So So Def), Che Pope (G.O.O.D Music), Max Gousse (Formally of Def Jam), Aaron Reid (Hitco) and more, learning from legends of the industry to develop their production repertoire and create a unique sound as artists in their own right.

WAYSIDE
DROP VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE
SHINE (ONTO ME)

Wayside, who formed in 2017, are Thomas Davenport and Josh Ehmer.

New single Shine (Onto Me) is a colourful, warm and positive song driven by guitars and dark, heartfelt vocal melodies with themes of love, self-care, and that feeling where you wish you could share the pain with someone, so their burden is lessened.

Shine (Onto Me), produced by Wayside and recorded by Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, The Vines), is the first piece of new music from the band since the self-titled EP was released in 2017.

“This song is about someone really close to me, who has lived through my worst nightmare and lost the most important thing to her / in her life, yet she’s always giving back where she can and loving in every way that she can” vocalist Thomas Davenport

BRAIDS New Album Shadow Offering out now Share ‘Here 4 U’ video

Praise for Shadow Offering

“Shadow Offering is the start of a new chapter, one robust enough to hold the intense emotions in their lyrics.” – Pitchfork, 7.2

“The music – lush electronic textures, delicate piano melodies and driving rhythms – is cinematic in scope, offering Armageddon and salvation in turn.” ★★★★ Uncut

“…[Shadow Offering] feels like the culmination of what Braids have been building towards over the last 10 years. It’s glimmering and assured, an album that’s constantly refining and one-upping itself. The Canadian band’s songs have always been massive, bursting at the seams with ideas, but they’ve never sounded as good or as crystallized as they do on Shadow Offering.”  – ★★★★ Stereogum (50 best albums of 2020 so far)

“‘Shadow Offering,’ is beautiful and heart wrenching, pulling on listeners’ heartstrings. The album offers a sanctuary by easing anxiety and fueling hope, acting as a sort of security blanket for these unnerving times.”  ★★★★ Clash Magazine

“a gloriously intricate fourth outing […] Braids have refined themselves, ready to offer mature, emotional soundscapes of understanding.” ★★★★ ½ The Line of Best Fit

“Braids are incisive, and conjure up a kind of confiding emotional warmth; Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla’s rich production is the ideal match.” – NME

“Raphaelle Standell-Preston sings with openhearted earnestness.” – The New York Times

“The whole thing builds to a frantic final third in which the chaos and confusion is palpable.” – The Fader (About “Snow Angel”)

“a bouncy good time; in the tug-of-war between mind and matter, these pulsing synths are clearly on the side of the body.” – Consequence of Sound (About “Young Buck”)

Montreal indie trio release Braids brand new album Shadow Offering, co-produced by Chris Walla via Secret City Records / Remote Control.

Today Braids also release the official video for the opening track ‘Here 4 U‘. They share the inspiration behind the song: “Here 4 U is an oldie in our books. The original demo dates back four or five years, written while Austin and I spent a few months snowbirding in Los Angeles. It was one of the first songs we wrote for Shadow Offering, but the last we finished. We nearly lost this one on the cutting room floor, but in finding the album’s identity in the final weeks of mixing, so too did this song. In a way, it encapsulates the process of making this record – bursts of excitement and exploration, stretches of self-doubt, long days, long months, and the blissful self-discovery of finding our voice for this album.

Here 4 U is a song about love, about a fleeting relationship, about the aftermath, and about the desire to be there for someone in a new light. “The fear of love, the fear of what it means to give, and what it takes, to protect it.” It’s the swirling thoughts as love falls apart, and the pillars to hold on to throughout.”

The album finds the band at their most personal, unabashedly flexing a new sense of confidence through songs that reach a higher level of artistry and collaboration. A luscious and expansive release, Shadow Offering leads us through a sonic tapestry of narrative. With heartbreaking honesty and precision, listeners traverse a nuanced and complicated world: one full of beautiful contradictions. Although the album directs itself at the failures of people to love and be loved, it also seeks to restore justice and attain blissful union. It’s arc crests through the dark towards the light and learns how to dance with the dizzying rhythms of the heart. The songs bubble, sustain, dissolve, expand, and retract.

A. SWAYZE & THE GHOSTS ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM PAID SALVATION + DROP NEW SINGLE ‘CANCER’ & VIDEO

by the partae June 23, 2020
written by the partae

Ivy League Records are thrilled to announce that Tasmania’s A.Swayze & the Ghosts will release their debut album, Paid Salvation, on Friday 18 September. At a time when some young bands seem more concerned with social media followers than having something to say, Paid Salvation is a refreshingly real breath of fresh air, one that restores your faith in the incendiary, uplifting and subversive power of punk rock.

To celebrate the announce, the band have released the addictive, synth-punk flavoured single ‘Cancer’ along with the video, directed by and featuring the band’s notably charismatic and enigmatic lead singer, Andrew Swayze.

“I love this track’s elements of early house music in its Oberheim DMX drum machine, repetitive bass-line and guitar silence in sections” – Andrew Swayze

On the band’s blistering debut record Paid Salvation – recorded in Northcote with producer Dean Tuza (These New South Whales, Stella Donnelly) – Swayze pulls no punches, using the group’s urgent and tightly wound music as a backdrop against which he can purge himself of the myriad frustrations he has with the world around him. Taking aim at social media (“Connect to Consume”), ecocide (“Beaches”), tall poppy syndrome (“Rich”), mob-rule and herd mentality (“Marigold”), it seems little escapes his ire, even God and the Bible get a good lashing. It’s safe to say we’re not in standard garage punk territory.

On first listen, it would be easy to take the album on face value, enjoying it purely for its many musical pleasures: energetic guitar interplay, pummeling rhythms, basslines that groove and an infectious shout-along melodic sensibility that runs throughout. But that’s the real power of Paid Salvation. While it’s a hell of a lot of fun, it’s also deadly serious.
“It really shits me off when bands have this pedestal and they have the ability to influence so much around them and they waste it by singing about stupid shit. If you’re given this audience, I think you have to have something to say. And I definitely intend on abusing that right.”  Swayze says

“I want people to go, ‘I love that song it makes me dance but I also appreciate the honesty. I want the melodies and the instrumentals to be accessible for people from all sorts of backgrounds, but I also want everyone to fucking listen to what I’m saying as well. And I especially want young men to hear songs like ‘Suddenly’ and ‘It’s Not Alright’ and think about what they’re saying rather than just listening to them and going, ‘Yeah I’m all jacked up on this rock song!’ he laughs. With AS&TG, the music is the sugar that makes the medicine easier to swallow.

Over the last two years A.Swayze & the Ghosts have performed at Falls Festival, Splendour in the Grass, The Great Escape, BIGSOUND (in many ‘best of’ lists across STACK, triple j, Double J, The Music), A Festival Called Panama and Boogie Festival. As well as shows alongside Shame, Total Control, Nude Party, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, West Thebarton, Jet, The Vines, Batpiss & The Stems to name a few. The band have been championed overseas by BBC 6 Music, Beats 1, KEXP, CLASH, NME & Brooklyn Vegan, whilst on home soil, supported by community radio, triple j, Double J, The Music, Beat & more.

ARCA Shares new single ‘KLK’ featuring ROSALÍA New album KiCk i out this Friday Featuring appearances from Björk, Shygirl & SOPHIE

Early praise for KiCk i

“the record to elevate her from electronic music’s experimental sandbox to pop music’s vanguard” – Pitchfork

“KiCk i feels like her breakout moment, a well-deserved coronation” – Stereogum

“a perfect piece of modern pop” – BBC Radio 6Music (Time)

“We’ve long struggled to box Arca into a single genre, and KiCk-i bursts out of genre conventions entirely, as a glorious expression of life.” – Loud and Quiet 9/10

“KiCk i is the coronation of Arca as a pop star.” – Stereogum

Today Arca has premiered a new single featuring Rosalía. The two contemporary pop stars have revealed their first official collaboration in the form of a cyberpunk reggaetón song titled ‘KLK‘, which is on Arca’s album KiCk i, due out this Friday June 26th on XL Recordings / Remote Control.  This iconic relationship was revealed to the public last year when Rosalía used Arca’s vocal recordings as an interstitial in her Latin GRAMMY Awards performance, taken from a recording Arca made just a month earlier while working on her own project. As Rosalía exclaims on the song, “aquí con me Ale estamos bendecidas.”  Listen via the image below.

For the instrumental/beat of ‘KLK,’ Arca worked with long-time friend and collaborator, Venezuelan producer Cardopusher, who features on the song as co-producer. Cardopusher and Arca first met back in Caracas while playing gigs together, and are now both based in Spain; ‘KLK‘’s hypnotic bounce serves to both celebrate and deconstruct the reggaetón they both grew up listening to, while Rosalía’s additional vocals entwine with Arca’s to suggest mischief, sensuality and collaboration – a call for unity in celebrating life in virtue of the unknown.

Arca, KiCk i defines a new era of multiplex harmony for the Venezuelan artist, singer, DJ, performer and experimental music composer.  With appearances from Björk, Rosalía, Shygirl and SOPHIE, this is the first time Arca has invited collaborators into her world, previously having lent her sound to some of the decade’s most avant-pop artists. To introduce the project, she first shared ‘Nonbinary‘ and her singles ‘Mequetrefe‘ and ‘Time,’ which is featured in Chanel’s new short-film HERE, presenting their 2020/21 Cruise Collection. With them. declaring, “Arca’s work is beyond innovative…her vision for the future of pop is so thrilling,” and Pitchfork noting Arca’s ability to “continue to create a singular world,” Arca, a nonbinary Latinx transwoman, is redefining the role of the diva for a new generation as Stereogum exclaims, “KiCk i feels like her breakout moment, a well-deserved coronation.”

Pre-order / pre-save Arca – KiCk i: https://arca.ffm.to/kicki

Ahead of June 26th releases: Pre-add KiCk i in advance of its release and enter-to-win the heels Arca wore in the ‘Anoche’ music video. More information on her IG HERE, enter to win HERE.

Ahead of and on July 17th:  KiCk i will be available on vinyl (single LP in a gatefold jacket, with a 16-page booklet of original art by Arca) and CD (in a black trigger ejector case). Also special KiCk i vinyl bundles will be available with t-shirts featuring album artwork by Carlota Guerrero and Nonbinary visual by Frederik Heyman. More available at Arca’s new merch store HERE.

Julian Jordan delivers a marvelous summer feel-good track with ‘Nobody Knows’ feat. Feldz

by the partae June 22, 2020
written by the partae

You can always count on Julian Jordan to get your head bobbing and heart racing with both bangers and radio-friendly gems. After making waves with ‘Without You’ featuring Brooks and the track still being high in the Beatport charts several weeks after release, it’s now time for Jordan to bring you one of the undoubted anthems of the summer season in the form of ‘Nobody Knows’ on STMPD RCRDS.

This summer-ready track starts off with enticing plucks reminiscent of early 2010s progressive house. A deep, full bassline joined by light percussion instruments makes way for Feldz’ luminous vocals. Melancholic piano chords underpin the rich chorus after which a clean and satisfying drop combined with looped vocals allows the listener to get up and dance around or close their eyes and unwind in the sun. Here is a track perfect for every setting. Whether you’re envisioning yourself in a club or having a day at the beach, ‘Nobody Knows’ fits it all.

This glorious summer tune is the result of the remarkable collaboration between Julian Jordan’s producing skills and Feldz’s powerful vocals. Unable to play live in a club during these times, Julian decided to regale his fans with a radio-friendly and feel-good track!

GHOATTE HORDOUR Releases new EP Death Divine Enemy

by the partae June 22, 2020
written by the partae

Winter Solstice celebrates the longest hours of darkness in a day which seemed fitting for the latest release from Ghoatte Hordour, an Australian based blackened symphonic metal band. This is the side project for the Smith Street Band guitarist Lee Hartney.

Death Divine Enemy elaborates on his sci-fi-esque, post-apocalyptic, dystopian worlds end. Lyrically it further delves into his anti religion, anti authoritarian, misanthropic sentiments. Brutally evil, yet melodically beautiful.

Death Divine Enemy is the follow up to the 2018 release Blackened Blood on the Suthourn Altar, described by Hysteria Mag as “a tight five track EP that seeps with grim undertones and haunting melodic strains.”

Out digitally everywhere today via Pool House Records, Death Divine Enemy is also available on a limited run of CDs from www.ghoattehordour.bandcamp.com

BAD COP / BAD COP NEW ALBUM, THE RIDE, OUT NOW ON FAT WRECK CHORDS

by the partae June 22, 2020
written by the partae

Bad Cop / Bad Cop’s new studio album The Ride, is out now on Fat Wreck Chords. The Ride was recorded throughout much of 2018 and 2019 by Johnny Carey and Fat Mike (D-Composers), and boasts all of the elements of BCBC’s sound: big guitars, lock-step bass and drums, intricate vocal harmonies, and plenty of attitude.

Listen to The Ride –  Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music

In a time of chronic rage, happiness is revolutionary.

Bad Cop / Bad Cop has done angry. The band’s 2017 full-length, Warriors, was recorded in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election. The Los Angeles quartet’s new full-length, The Ride (Fat Wreck Chords, June 19th), shows what happens when you come out the other side of that anger.

“It’s not that I am just stoked or blind to suffering,” says singer-guitarist Jennie Cotterill. “I think anger is a legitimate and understandable reaction to injustice and wrongdoing. It’s just that for myself, I am trying to move past ‘reaction’ into productive ‘response.’”

The message BCBC is sending this time around is less about wagging your finger at others, or giving the middle one to the Man, than it is about self-love and acceptance. As Cotterill puts it, “Love is a more powerful truth than anger.” That positivity fuels many of The Ride’s tracks: “Originators,” “Simple Girl,” “Community,” “I Choose,” “Perpetual Motion Machine,” and “The Mirage” exude confidence, gratitude, and compassion. In 2020, such things qualify as contrarian.

“These are political statements—self-love is a huge fucking statement,” affirms singer-guitarist Stacey Dee. “Self-love means putting a fix on the problems at home before trying to fix everything in the world. It’s asking people to find it in themselves to create the life that they really want to have so they’re not in turmoil, so they’re not in a place of stress and sickness.”

Dee speaks from experience. In 2018 she was hospitalised twice for different ailments, then discovered she had stage one breast cancer at the end of the year. Fortunately it was highly treatable, but the experience was life-altering. Dee captures it with brutal frankness on “Breastless,” whose bright melodies belie the struggle described in the lyrics.

“Certain Kind of Monster” and “Pursuit of Liberty”—both written and sung by bassist Linh Le—are blistering repudiations of the current administration’s treatment of immigrants.

The former is an imagined conversation with an ICE agent, and the latter juxtaposes her family’s immigration to the U.S. from Vietnam in 1975 to current events, something she’s never explored musically.

The perspective behind The Ride lends it an undeniable maturity, without losing its power. Recorded throughout much of 2018 and 2019 by Johnny Carey and Fat Mike of production team the D-Composers, the album boasts all of the elements of BCBC’s sound: big guitars, lock-step bass and drums (the latter by powerhouse drummer Myra Gallarza), intricate vocal harmonies, and plenty of attitude.

It’s just that this time, the attitude is encouraging, not raging. Nowhere is that more apparent than lilting album closer “Sing With Me.” Built around acoustic guitar, piano, and Cotterill’s voice, it’s an exhortation to “sing with me / or sing your own song / I don’t mind, just as long as you find / a voice.”

Dee adds, “If people are listening to our songs and they’re going to sing along to them, they’re going to start owning some of those words. And in owning some of those words that gives them some strength and power going forward. That’s really the biggest gift that I could give to anybody.”

“Stronger in every way” aptly describes Bad Cop / Bad Cop in 2020. The anger may have taken a back seat on The Ride, but what’s taken its place is even more powerful.

DUBOSS teams up with Imanbek for debut single ‘Voyage, Voyage’, an ode to the glorious 80’s hit

by the partae June 20, 2020
written by the partae

Newcomer DUBOSS is a child of the 80’s who is making the feel-good music you need right now. Recently signed to Sony Music, DUBOSS’ fresh, positive and uplifting debut single ‘Voyage, Voyage’ arrives at the perfect time!

Since lockdown started all across Asia in early February, DUBOSS had the vision to produce a song related to one of his passions: travelling. He teamed up with Imanbek to finish his debut single ‘Voyage, Voyage’, a glorious edit of the 80’s hit by Desireless which invites everyone to go on a musical journey despite being at home. “Old good major hits are exactly what gives inspiration to any artist in any period of history”, says Imanbek.

As DUBOSS says himself: “I produced this revival as a tribute to the original song which brings hope and celebrates the freedom to travel. It takes me back to listening to it with my parents when I was a kid and has very positive memories. I hope it can transmit the same type of emotions to people around the world.”

The track channels the sounds of dramatic European pop in its glorious vocal and trance synths, before slamming into a bouncing slap house groove with jaunty melodies creating a playful feel. It’s exactly the sort of joyful music you can expect to hear coming out of the studio of DUBOSS and dominating dancefloors over the next few years.
