AIRBEAT ONE Festival announces Full Line Up

by the partae May 23, 2023
written by the partae

40,000 tickets sold already – Northern Germany’s biggest electronic festival celebrates 20th anniversary and presents the complete Line Up

From the 12th to the 16th of July 2023 one of the biggest electronic music festivals in Europe has a very special birthday. AIRBEAT ONE celebrates its 20th anniversary. What started in 2001 as a small party for 1,000 guests at the Neustadt-Glewe airfield has now become one of the big mega festivals with up to 65,000 visitors per day. Anyone who wants to be there in 2023 should hurry, because two months before the start, over 40,000 tickets have already been sold.

This year’s edition is themed “Edition Home – Germany”, because milestone birthdays are best celebrated at home with family and all friends. It should be a gigantic birthday party with guests from over 50 countries. Also a lot of the best DJs and acts will fly in from all over the world to the tranquil town of Neustadt-Glewe in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to congratulate AIRBEAT ONE. Who will be at this year’s edition is confirmed now with the announcement of the Full Line Up.

Only the biggest DJs and acts on the planet will perform on the epochal showpiece of the AIRBEAT ONE festival, the “Mainstage” with its monstrous dimensions of up to 180 meters wide and 50 meters high. Here alone, 16 artists from DJ Mag UK’s prestigious Top 100 ranking will perform: ALOK, Boris Brejcha, Charlotte de Witte, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Fisher, Hardwell, KSHMR, Morten, Oliver Heldens, Paul van Dyk, Steve Aoki, Sunnary James & Ryan Marciano, Timmy Trumpet, Vini Vici, W&W and Will Sparks. True to the motto “Edition Home – Germany”, the blockbusters from Germany will also be on the main stage: Fritz Kalkbrenner, Marten Horger, Neelix, Paul Kalkbrenner and Scooter. And with Öwnboss, the absolute top of the line from Brazil will be flying in.

Techno is the defining sound on the Arena Stage, which was added to the stage program just a few years ago. Prominent names from the important DJ Mag Top 100 ranking are also represented here: Claptone, Danny Avila, Deborah de Luca, Nora En Pure, Reinier Zonneveld and Vintage Culture. In line with the theme, high-ranking German techno artists will also come to the Arena, such as Adana Twins, Anne Clue, Moritz Hofbauer and SKIY. But that’s not all. Other international big names and upcoming artists of the techno scene like Camelphat, Enrico Sangiuliano, i hate models, Indira Paganotto, Kölsch, LEVT, Lilly Palmer, Prophecy and Tinlicker will be performing. HI-LO, Oliver Helden’s minimalist side-project and Meduza as the biggest Italian streaming artist in Italy’s music history close the Arena Stage Line Up.

The Hardstyle stage of the AIRBEAT ONE Festival will show up as Eagle Stage for the “Edition Home – Germany”. The acts on this stage resemble the Line Up of a dedicated Hardstyle Festival. With Angerfist, Brennan Heart and Miss K8 (b2b Deadly Guns) three Top 100 members are represented. But the list of stars of harder sounds for this year’s edition is almost endless: Act of Rage, Atmozfears, Audiotricz, Bass Modulators b2b Adrenalize, Coone, Creek, D-Block & S-te-Fan, D-Sturb, Da Tweekaz, Demi Kanon, Dr. Peacock, Frequencerz b2b B-Front, Frontliner, Gunz For Hire, Headhunterz, Jebroer, Mandy, Noisecontrollers, Partyraiser b2b Bulletproof, Paul Elstak ft. Boogshe, Radical Redemption b2b Cryex, Ran-D, Rebelion, Rooler, Sefa, Sickmode, Sound Rush, Sub Zero Project, Vertile, Warface, Wildstylez and Zatox. What a lineup of headliners and all of it hosted by Villain!

The legendary Terminal stands for the styles Electro, Tech House and Tropical. With Bassjackers, Kaaze, Lucas & Steve, Quintino and Topic, five acts from the current DJ Mag Top 100 will be behind the turntables in 2023. For the anniversary, this stage will deliver the largest amount of German artists with illustrious names like Anstandslos & Durchgeknallt, Die Gebrüder Brett, Gestört aber GeiL, HBz, Housekasper, Le Shuuk, Lexy & K-Paul, Mausio, Moguai, Ostblockschlampen, Thomas Lizzara, VIZE and YouNotUs. Three of the best known acts from Austria come with Harris & Ford, Klangkarussell and Toby Romeo. But also international top-class acts like Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, EDX, Klingande, Mike Perry and Regard are going to fill the tent with excitement.

After this phenomenal line-up of stars on the other stages, the Second Stage won’t be left out and presents a total of 33 top names of the Goa and Psytrance scene. Up to 65,000 visitors from over 50 nations are expected at the anniversary edition of the AIRBEAT ONE festival. On the five stages of the four-day open air event, every electronic fan will find his or her electronic sound, from EDM to trance and progressive – from hardstyle, hardcore and gabber to techno, minimal, house, psytrance and goa.

The 3-day ticket for the mega-festival is currently available in pre-sale phase III for 149.99 euros plus fees at tickets.airbeat-one.de.

But AIRBEAT ONE is not just a festival, it is a five-day vacation. And that’s why you shouldn’t wait too long to book your accommodation. The Main Camping is already 85% booked and the VIP Camping 98% booked. So if you still want to park your car right next to your tent, you should be quick.

Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey, FLETCHER received industry acclaim early in her career – largely due to her natural and candid storytelling talent, exemplified on her debut EP, you ruined new york city for me, in 2019. The record featured FLETCHER’s breakout hit ‘Undrunk’, which scored the #1 spot on Spotify’s Viral Chart; an early indicator of the musician’s potential. Following this up with 2020’s, THE S(EX) TAPES, FLETCHER returned triumphant, adding to her winning scorecard with songs like ‘Bitter’ fast-climbing to 250 million global streams.

FLETCHER made new waves with GIRL OF MY DREAMS, landing within the Top 15 of the Billboard 200: a powerfully potent collection of songs that provided 2022’s most memorable pop moments, including ‘Becky’s So Hot’, ‘Sting’ and ‘Better Version’. To date, FLETCHER has amassed over one billion streams globally,

The release of GIRL OF MY DREAMS brought solidified FLETCHER as a U.S. star with staying power. Among her achievements during the album cycle, FLETCHER performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, completed a sold out 25-date tour of North America, and joined Miley Cyrus for a rendition of ‘Midnight Sky’ as part of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party – another viral moment of 2022.

The GIRL OF MY DREAMS TOUR will be an unmissable opportunity for fans to experience the album live, and fall further in love with FLETCHER as she makes her way to both countries at the end of 2023.

The tour will take FLETCHER to New Zealand first, where she will bring her live show to the Auckland Town Hall on November 29. From there, she will tour Australia, starting in Sydney on December 2 at the Hordern Pavilion, and making her way to Melbourne’s Forum and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, before finishing the run in Perth at Metro City.

Renowned Mannheim-based artist Gorge returns to Déepalma Records with ‘Sleepless’

by the partae May 21, 2023
written by the partae

Mannheim’s Peter Felix Waldmann, known to the electronic music world simply as ‘Gorge’ has been  undoubtedly one of the most consistent names on the deeper side of the house music spectrum for  almost two decades. Returning to Déepalma with yet another masterful creation, his latest work  highlights Gorge’s innate ability to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge electronic music with  compelling studio productions that stand the test of time.

‘Sleepless’ is an instantly dissolving deepened house cut with pulsating frequencies and sweeping  textures from the outset. Floating delicately around a sensuous vocal hook, its hotbed of  reverberating synth layers, deep bass stabs and gliding pads bring enveloping warmth to its  loosened grooves and crisp percussive drive.

2023 marks an impressive milestone for Déepalma Records as they prepare to celebrate their tenth  anniversary. The label has gone from strength to strength over the last decade, welcoming releases  from some of the best-known artists on the planet and helping springboard some of the industry’s  most promising talents. To celebrate ten years of Déepalma, the imprint is releasing a set of special  anniversary singles throughout the year, along with two extra-special editions of its renowned  seasonal compilation series, packed with a wealth of amazing tracks.

Gorge’s ‘Sleepless’ is available from 5th May 2023 via Déepalma Records and features on the  label’s “Déepalma Ibiza 2023 – 10th Anniversary” compilation, out on 16th June 2023.

Boorloo/Perth-based electro pop artist Anna O is set to ignite the Australian music scene once again with her newest single ‘Set It On Fire’, which is due to be released on May 19. Known for her powerful and passionate brand of alt pop, Anna O has captivated audiences since the release of her debut EP in 2015.
Following her successful release of ‘We’ve Got Time’ earlier this year, which was widely praised for its tender and introspective lyricism, Anna O’s latest offering promises to be just as impressive.
‘Set It On Fire’ not only showcases Anna O’s emotive lyricism and pulsating beats but also boasts a dreamy production that feels ethereal. The song features a sawtooth synth bass that adds an edge to the track, perfectly complementing Anna O’s captivating vocals.
The energy of ‘Set It On Fire’ is nothing short of liberating. Anna O’s powerful vocals are layered with soaring choruses that burst with energy, creating a sense of euphoria that is hard to resist.
Drawing from her own life experiences, Anna O has crafted a song that is both heartfelt and powerful, exploring themes of self-discovery and finding one’s way through life’s challenges. Anna O states:

“It’s no surprise that lyrically it was still about this season of life that I was in the thick of.. post-natal depression, stay at home mum, no understanding or diagnosis yet for me or my boys. Still unmedicated because I was too scared.”

Being open and transparent about her challenges in life is the core to her songwriting as she continues, “One morning at some inhumane hour I lay awake staring into the dark after feeding my baby boy back to sleep. I was agitated and frustrated, but then this sense came over me that I was about to write a song, which is how songwriting tends to work for me.”

Produced by Luke Minness (PRISCILLA, Have A Good Day, Yes Lenny), ‘Set It On Fire’ is a testament to Anna O’s dedication and commitment to her craft. Her recent partnership with Minness has resulted in a creative explosion, with many more releases in the pipeline.
Her last release landed rotation on Double J and received support from Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, AAA Backstage, Aus Music Scene, amongst others.
Fans of Anna O can look forward to immersing themselves in the entrancing soundscape and mesmerizing vocals of ‘Set It On Fire’ when it drops on May 19. Don’t miss out on this incredible new release from one of Australia’s most captivating electro pop artists.

Psychic Social Club, the up and coming Naarm/Melbourne-based four-piece, bring a surge of indie rock melodies with their latest single ‘We Don’t Talk’ out Friday, May 19.

Consisting of frontman Jared Roscioli, guitarist Simon Farrelly, bassist Chris Baxter, and drummer Luke Bratchford, the tenacious foursome have been making waves in the local indie music scene, and ‘We Don’t Talk’ is a tsunami.

Influenced by massive Australian names including Spacey Jane, The Vanns, and Bakers Eddy, the local indie rock inspiration shines through the track, with a swell of fuzzy guitars and rippling vocals. ‘We Don’t Talk’ surges with passion through its driving rhythm section and soaring chorus.

The tune is a cathartic unbottling of emotions; a meditation on past relationships that have run their course. With chant worthy lyrics and an anthemic chorus, ‘We Don’t Talk’ provides a therapeutic release of words unsaid.

Frontman Jared said of the story behind the track:

“’We Don’t Talk’ is a reflection on past relationships that faded when I moved interstate as a 17-year-old. It seems like a lifetime ago, but I still reminisce on those lost connections and consider how things might be different in an alternative life if I stayed where I was or just tried harder to hold on to them.”

Christened a “mega infectious… big balloon of pop-rock” by Triple J’s Declan Byrne, Psychic Social Club has established a name within the local band rooms of some of the city’s most iconic venues. This four-piece have been hard to miss, supporting local acts The Velvet Club, St Emerald and Strawbz, as well as playing sold-out shows at The Workers Club, The Catfish and Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar.

Adding to the handful of singles that they’ve been teasing the scene with since 2019, the band’s latest effort proves that the time to join the club is now. ‘We Don’t Talk’ by Psychic Social Club is out on Friday May 19.

Nicky Romero, Jonas Blue and Nico Santos Team Up For Your Summer Pick-Me-Up With “All You Need Is Love.” Out on Virgin Records/Universal Music

by the partae May 21, 2023
written by the partae

Artists: Nicky Romero & Jonas Blue & Nico Santos
Title: All You Need Is Love
Label: Virgin Records/Universal Music

Download / Stream

Nicky Romero is back on Virgin Records/Universal Music with his uplifting dance-pop crossover single “All You Need Is Love,” for which he teamed up with dance-pop mainstay Jonas Blue and talented singer and producer Nico Santos. With three powerhouses behind it, one would expect this collaboration to be nothing short of magical, and it certainly delivers. Opening with soul-rendering vocals overtop organic melodies, the track swells to a euphoric, progressive crescendo with the chorus. Santos‘s performance brings the hopeful lyrics to life perfectly, while Romero and Blue‘s respective production skills toe the line between electronic and pop genres. Nicky Romero premiered the track earlier this year at Ultra Music Festival‘s Main Stage when he brought Jonas out on stage, and its release has been highly anticipated ever since. “All You Need Is Love” follows Nicky‘s releases “I Hope That It Hurts” with Norma Jean Martine, “Why Do I Call,” and “Nights With You” on Virgin Records/Universal Music.

“I really loved working with Jonas and Nico on this amazing record. They are both super-talented artists and are crushing it on each given occasion. Jonas has released earlier some of my favorite hit songs and is a master at creating emotional and heartfelt tracks. I got to know Nico just recently and immediately felt that his amazing voice would be the best fit for this song. When he recorded his vocals, it was an instant match as he perfectly conveyed the emotions that we wanted to send to the world. It was great to premiere ‘All You Need Is Love‘ at Ultra Music Festival in Miami with Jonas back in March, and I’m happy we can finally share it with our fans and listeners around the globe” – Nicky Romero

“Nicky has always been someone I looked up to since I started producing music, so it’s an honor to collaborate with him! and Nico‘s talent has been on my radar for a while too, so this song felt like the perfect moment for the 3 of us to collaborate and I’m excited to see what the world think of this one.” – Jonas Blue

“It’s an honor to be able to collaborate on this great track with two of my favorite producers – Nicky Romero and Jonas Blue. The song is a reminder for us all: Even when you’re facing great challenges and experiencing dark times, you should believe that brighter times are ahead, and you need to trust the power and the love within you to help you to get there.” – Nico Santos

Nicky Romero

After taking the world by storm with early hits such as “Legacy” with Krewella, “Like Home” with NERVO and the #1 single “I Could Be The One” with Avicii, Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. After launching his Protocol Recordings imprint in 2012, the renowned performer, producer, and label head continued his personal successes with a string of high-profile releases, ranging from collaborations with Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki to remixes for the likes of Bebe Rexha, Robin Schulz, Kygo, Rita Ora, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Jess Glynne and more. While showcasing his label’s roster via his weekly Protocol Radio show, Nicky Romero continues to innovate and evolve, and with his annual “Nicky Romero & Friends” ADE showcase and the launch of Monocule alter-ego, he keeps proving his ability to turn into gold everything he touches and continues to push boundaries with each show concept and new release, forever instilling himself as a dance music icon.

Jonas Blue

Jonas Blue‘s career to date has been astounding, and its effect has been felt the world over, with singles like “Fast Car,” “Perfect Strangers,” “Rise,” “Mama,” and “Polaroid” collectively having been certified platinum over 130 times around the globe. Amassing an army of recognizable hit singles, with over 18 billion global streams, over 80 million worldwide singles sales, 5 billion video views, BRIT certified Breakthrough Album, 5 BRIT Award nominations, and multiple brand deals, Jonas has cemented his name as a main stage DJ and pop powerhouse. Jonas‘ hard work and inspiring music continued to receive global success with singles featuring a combo of hot artists, including HRVY, Leon, Ava Max, Rita Ora, R3HAB, Tiësto, and more. He is a man on a mission, whose sights are set for the top with his first release of 2023 “Weekends,” with top German DJ/Producer Felix Jaehn, as well as “Crying on The Dancefloor” as a collaborative project Endless Summer with Sam Feldt and his latest summer smash “Finally” with RANI, we will see collaborations and showstopping DJ sets aplenty.

Nico Santos

Singer, songwriter, and producer: Nico Santos is an absolutely exceptional talent. A versatility that covers genres from pop to hip-hop to R&B and deep house to film music. The multiple gold and platinum awards – not only in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland but also Australia, Mexico, and Spain – and various radio airplay #1s speak for themselves. Over 1 billion global streams later and three years after his self-titled second album, Nico Santos is back, or rather, he was never gone. Unlike generations of singers before him, Nico Santos never really thought in terms of albums; he simply recorded one song after another. In doing so, Nico discovered and utilized a freedom that can only come from following a flow, a current. Nico‘s new album “RIDE” is scheduled for a release on May 26, 2023.

THE SOOKS ignite the scene with their latest release ‘BURN ME OUT’

by the partae May 20, 2023

Putting their own surf rock twist on music fans of local acts such as Skegss, The Terrys, DICE and more broadly, The Strokes, would love, Western Sydney’s The Sooks have produced a powerful and energetic track in ‘Burn Me Out’. The band’s new single, filled with a driving rhythm, brings together punchy guitar riffs and captivating vocals.

‘Burn Me Out’ follows the feeling of alienation and disconnection from the world, and the frustrations that come with feeling stuck in a rut.

‘Burn Me Out’ explores the feeling of being alienated from the things around you, being disconnected from the world and feeling like time is passing by when you are stood still. We all get that kind of feeling of being burnt out by something or someone, and this song is sort of a tribute to that universal frustration.”

The Sooks

‘Burn Me Out’ was recorded at Sonar Studios in Sydney and was produced and mixed by Jack Nigro (Pacific Avenue, Skegss, DMA’s). ‘Burn Me Out’ was mastered by Darren Ziesing (Flume, Lime Cordial, Rufus Du Sol). The track features an explosive, catchy chorus that’s sure to get crowds singing along and dancing at live shows. A song that came together over a quick period of time, ‘Burn Me Out’ is The Sooks at their most creatively satisfied to date.

“After realizing that we had studio time booked in, we thought it would be a good idea to write a single a few days beforehand haha. So we sat with acoustic guitars and put the song together in like 20 minutes from scratch, lyrics and everything.

We were heaps thrilled to be tracking up in Sonar Studios in Tuggerah with Jack Nigro, we like his work and so we knew that the song would come together just fine. After a long day of tracking all the instruments, we waited for Jack to work his magic in the mixing studio and the song was done.” The Sooks

The band has received community radio support from RTR, FBi and 2SER from their previous releases ‘Motley’, ‘Lucy’ and ‘Red Brick House’. The Sooks have previously performed at NOIR CITY Mini-festival and Indie 500 festival, as well as opening for Annie Hamilton, Jet City Sports Club, Satin Cali, Sputnik Sweetheart and The Moving Stills.

Alongside the release of ‘Burn Me Out’, The Sooks will be blessing Sydney with a launch show at Waywards, Newtown with supports of Grxce and Pseudoclub on Friday May 5th.

Multi-Platinum Chart-Topping Trio Cash Cash Addresses Mental Health on Inspiring New Dance/Pop Crossover “Bleach (move on)” with JP for the First Time on Vocal Duties. Out Now on Ultra Records/Sony Music

by the partae May 20, 2023
written by the partae

Artist: Cash Cash
Title: Bleach (move on)
Label: Ultra Records/Sony Music

Download / Stream

After their release from January – “Anyway,” featuring RuthAnne, preceded by an almost two-year hiatus, the platinum trio Cash Cash is back with their deeply personal and yet hopeful new single “Bleach (move on).” The song is a unique fusion of emo-alt and electronic dance music, unusual and yet well-executed by the veteran electronic group. With angsty, soulful vocals belting out lyrics about mental health struggles, “Bleach (move on)” starts out like an alt-pop song from the early aughts, but Cash Cash quickly weaves in their signature sound with the track’s upbeat progressive style during its chorus and interludes. Jean Paul, who sings on a Cash Cash‘s record for the very first time, Alex and Samuel bear their hearts through this relevant and heartfelt sonic confession, one that will be a hit on the radio and during the summer festival season. “Bleach (move on)” is Cash Cash‘s second release on Ultra Records/Sony Music after signing to the label in 2022. Read below what they have to say about the inspiration behind it.

“We once heard someone says: ‘Your problems are like holding a glass of water; it’s easy if you only hold on to it for a little as your arm is barely affected. If you hold on to it all day and night, your arm will eventually become very sore, throbbing, and numb, barely able to hold the glass.’ The creation of ‘Bleach (move on)‘ was realizing that and finally learning to put the fucking glass down and to literally move on. Calling the last few years a challenge would be an understatement. Many of us found ourselves either running away or chasing something, or just lost in the shuffle. If you’re not one of those people, then God Bless as you’re one of the few lucky ones. For the rest of us emo kids, sanity is something we’re constantly chasing, and mental health is something we’re always running from. It takes addressing it face to face to improve it, and only after that does sanity become attainable. Writing ‘Bleach (move on)‘ was our way of addressing it; continuing to hear it is our reminder and therapy, and hopefully, playing it for all of you will be yours.” – Cash Cash

Cash Cash is a world-renowned electronic music trio that has been making music and selling out shows worldwide for over a decade. Currently signed to Ultra Records, the group consists of brothers Jean Paul Makhlouf and Alex Makhlouf, as well as life-long friend Samuel Frisch. Together, the three DJ/Producer/Multi-instrumentalists record, mix and master all of their music. Over the past few years, they have seen massive success with their slew of single releases. Their song “Finest Hour” (feat. Abir) has been RIAA-certified Gold, and their 2019 collaboration with P!NK called “Can We Pretend” hit the Top 10 on AC radio. Their single “Call You” (feat. Nasri of MAGIC!) hit #1 on US Dance Radio, and they were also featured on Billboard’s Dance 100 List for 2019. Their smash single “Take Me Home” ft. Bebe Rexha celebrated an RIAA platinum certification; their song “All My Love” ft. Conor Maynard has amassed over 100 million streams on Spotify alone; “Matches” featuring ROZES achieved #1 on Dance Radio, and one of their releases, “Belong” was featured on Dashboard Confessional‘s album “Crooked Shadows.” 2021 saw Cash Cash releasing euphonious “Ride or Die” (feat. Phoebe Ryan), preceded by Billboard-charting hip-hop-dosed dance-pop smash “Too Late,” on which they collaborated with Wiz Khalifa and Lukas Graham. In 2023, the trio will continue its domination with brand-new releases and appearances.

Spag Heddy Explores The Myriad of Human Emotions On Melodic Dubstep Single “Never Thought,” Featuring Micah Martin, From His Forthcoming Debut Album “The Noodle Effect”

by the partae May 20, 2023
written by the partae

Artist: Spag Heddy
Title: Never Thought (feat. Micah Martin)
Label: Self-released

Download / Stream

Spag Heddy returns with his new single “Never Thought,” for which he teamed up with rock/alt-pop singer Micah Martin of The Zealots band. The track follows a slightly different direction for Spag, who has previously focused on intensive bass and unique house sounds, in that it is less of a headbanging anthem than a saga through human emotion. Opening with wistful vocals and piano melodies, he then builds into a cinematic dubstep-style drop with some grimy synth effects that serve to truly embody the full and complex spectrum of feelings within the song. “Never Thought” may be Spag Heddy‘s the most emotional release to date and follows his recent release “Sorry,” both of which are from his upcoming debut studio album “The Noodle Effect,” coming out on June 16. Read on for what both Spag and Micah had to say about their stunning collaboration.

“With ‘Never Thought,’ I wanted to make a song that didn’t focus on basslines but rather on a grand, majestic melodic theme. Micah‘s powerful voice and big, atmospheric style was the perfect fit for this one. His voice and lyrics gave the song emotional depth that, together with the uplifting melody and raw bass cuts, feels like a journey that ends in a big sort of space-battle climax. More than just a melodic dubstep song, to me, it’s a story of human emotion and music as an escape.” – Spag Heddy

“I was on tour with my band and recorded this topline in the trailer on an off day. Hurricane Irma had just blown into Atlanta at the same time we did, so we had to pull over. After getting out of the trailer, I realized quite a few tall trees had blown over, and maybe recording in the middle of hurricane winds in the forest wasn’t the smartest idea. I sent to Spag Heddy, and the rest is history!” – Micah Martin

Spag Heddy

The Netherlands-born and Spain-based Spag Heddy has been cooking up dubstep hits since 2011, when his club bangers quickly got the attention of fans and industry tastemakers alike. With Skrillex, Rusko, Excision and others counted among his inspirations, Spag has gained widespread acclaim for his hard-hitting and yet melodic style that always feels fresh and forward-thinking. He has multiple successful singles as well as remixes and collaborations for The Chainsmokers, Krewella, SLANDER, and originals that can be heard in sets of Skrillex, Excision, Subtronics, NGHTMRE and many other heavyweights. His high-energy, mesmerizing sets have earned him tours with Zomboy and Flux Pavilion as well as direct support for Excision and Zeds Dead, plus a number of his own headlining tours around the globe. Now on the eve of releasing his most exciting project to date, Spag Heddy is well on his way to the top.

Micah Martin

Micah Martin was born June 27, 1992, in the Quad Cities. Growing up, he always knew that he wanted to entertain/perform in front of the masses. This would later come to fruition, as he would go on to perform his music in front of sold-out crowds at The Hollywood Palladium, Red Rocks, Spring Awakening, and Lost Lands, to name a few. If he’s not busy writing rock’n’roll anthems with his band – The Zealots, you can find him crafting up his own style of alternative pop in his studio. You might recognize his voice if you play Fortnite or Rocket League, as his songs are in frequent rotation within those games. In 2020, Martin got his first cut with Don Diablo, Imanbek, and Trevor Daniel. This song is called “Kill Me Better,” and it has gotten international radio play all over the world. Travis Barker would later remix “Kill Me Better” and add his own alternative flare to the song. Micah has also worked with some of the biggest names in dance music, such as Jauz, Kayzo, SLANDER, Brooks, Rebelion, Dirty Palm, Bear Grillz, Black Tiger Sex Machine, William Black, Fairlane, Crystal Skies, Ghastly, Frank Zummo, PhaseOne, and more. In 2022 Martin completed his debut album with Executive Producer Felmax. “These songs are my babies, and I hold them dear to my heart. I hope they can speak to you and help you with whatever you’re going through in life. Music is a medicine that we all need daily.”

As Body Type steady for their upcoming UK and EU tour dates, the group today announce their national album tour, presented by Double J, in support of their second album Expired Candy out June 2 via Poison City Records. BUY TICKETS HERE + PRE-ORDER LP HERE.

Across August, Body Type will be joined by Sweetie and Perfect Actress in Eora / Sydney, Our Carlson and Chimers in Dharawal Land / Port Kembla, Gut Health and Sweetie in Naarm / Melbourne, Platonic Sex and Nakki Soul in Meanjin / Brisbane plus Ash Baroque and Paint in Boorloo / Perth. The band’s live show recently rocked crowds at High Voltage Festival – “Body Type stopped traffic” Rolling Stone‘s review read – alongside supports with The Pixies, Fontaines D.C., Wolf Alice and previously, Big Thief, Cate Le Bon, POND, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Rolling Blackouts Coast Fever, DZ Deathrays, MOD CON.

If Body Type’s debut record Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing’s Surprising was an exuberant and furious declaration of dominion, then their swift follow-up Expired Candy is all about revelling in the space they’ve carved out. It’s sweet, acidic, tough and undeniable all at once, and speaking to the forthcoming release Body Type reveal that “Expired Candy is filled with hope, love, and danger, dancing with delicious uncertainty. In pursuit of joy we dreamed up songs about mothers, sisters, dogs, nans; family tantrums, forward motion, falling in love, platonic or romantic, with someone or self. Heart breaks, tooth will shatter, but she’ll be there when it really matters. Flirty, feral and defiant, just how we like it. From our wild heart to yours, Body Type.”

Including singles in the just released ‘Weekend’ and the Double J playlisted ‘Holding On’ and ‘Miss The World’, Expired Candy is a euphoric, lawless rock record, characterised by unfaltering intensity. Oceanic yearning mixes with sly humour. Guitars spit and swell and slice through harmonies. Moments of elation and bizarre imagery are wrung from the monotony of every day. Vocals knot together, producing ecstatic, slanted melodies. An album about not being so certain that confinement and desolation lead to a dead end. Instead, stagnation may serve as the perfect breeding ground for joyous bewilderment and an inflamed imagination. Like the stale confection of its title, Expired Candy is a blistering listen because of the way it transmutes gloom into resistance.

Their Australian Music Prize-nominated debut album Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing’s Surprising including highlights ‘Buoyancy‘ ‘The Charm’ and ‘Sex & Rage‘ across the 11-track record sought praise far and wide: Rolling Stone, The Guardian, NME, DIY, Frankie Magazine, Clash, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit and more, as well as radio support from all corners of the country landing Album of the Week placements across 2SER, FBi Radio, SYN, Edge Radio and RTR FM and much more. Meghan Patrick Interview

by the partae May 16, 2023
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

Nashville, TN!

What’s been happening recently?

I’ve been on the road a bunch, got to make my Opry debut, and now just released a new EP!

Your latest EP Greatest Show On Dirt was released on May 5, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

It was really important to me to dig deeper into what “my sound” is. I really just tried to follow my instincts on the sound and production, as well as just letting the band play and do their thing. I didn’t want to micromanage the music, and my producers were great collaborators and leaders in the studio. As far as the songwriting goes just I tried to really peel back some more layers of myself, and be as honest as possible.

What inspired the title track ‘Greatest Show On Dirt’?

My friend Trannie Anderson brought the title to a writers retreat I was on with  her, Jake Mitchell and Matt McGinn. We all immediately thought it was an amazing title, but we weren’t sure what it should be about. My first thought was that greatest show on dirt would have something to do with Rodeo… I used to have a horse but I mainly just drank beer and took her on trail rides so writing a song about the rodeo wouldn’t really be authentic to me. Then we thought about it being more of a throwback to an old flame. Summer love with the guy who had it all, Hollywood looks, all the right lines, and a truck to take you riding around the back roads all summer. Even though it didn’t work out, Looking back on the memory has a very dreamy, cinematic nostalgia to it.

What does this EP mean to you?

This EP represents a new chapter for me. I think these are some of the best and most personal songs I’ve written, and I feel like myself, the band, the songwriters and the producers all brought the music to life in a way that feels authentically “me”.

Please tell us about the accompanying singles film clips, the inspiration and filming process.

I worked with Ford Fairchild for all of the music videos for “Greatest Show On Dirt.” His energy and creativity is so infectious! The video for “She’s No Good For Me” shows me throwing out items from my past as I move into this new version of myself. For the “Ours” video, I had my guitar player play my toxic ex.  This video will also always hold a special place in my heart because it was the day I got the call from Terri Clark to say I was gonna make my Opry debut. The “Greatest Show On Dirt” video shows a mini me and her first love.  It also features my band. For “Red Roses & Red Flags,” I was able to try out my acting skills!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

The Bros. Landreth

What do you like to do away from music?

I love to hunt, fish, cook, play golf, mountain bike and really anything that allows me to spend time outdoors.  I have also gotten into boxing lately.  It is a great workout.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2023?

A lot more new music and a lot of touring!

Favourite food and place to hangout?

I love all food haha. And I’ll hangout wherever there’s cold beer, good music, and no crowds.

by the partae May 15, 2023
written by the partae

International acts to include Sean Paul, UB40, Shaggy and much more

May 15, 2023: Australia’s biggest reggae music festival Jammin will hit Australia again this coming summer with the 2024 line-up to be released at 7am this morning. The festival features an expanded international line-up compared to its debut season in 2023 with superstars Sean Paul, UB40 and Shaggy all set to perform. Also hitting the stage will be legendary Fugees member and solo artist Wyclef Jean, as well as Bob Marley’s son Julian Marley.

Jammin Festival 2024 will be staged in Sydney and on the Gold Coast over the weekend of Feb 3-4, with both locations set to ignite in a celebration of good vibes, fun and culture. The two-day event will offer music for every reggae lover. Also on the line-up will be Hawaii’s Polynesian reggae star Fiji, US sensation J Boog and Jamaican reggae fusion band Third World. New Zealand favourites House of Shem and Sons of Zion will perform, as will Hawaiian-cum Samoan reggae band Common Kings.

Event spokesperson Matthew Spratt says next year’s festival will be bigger and better than this year’s inaugural event, which sold out in all venues. “We’re excited to be bringing some of the world’s biggest reggae artists to Australian shores – but this time with a bigger and better line-up. Australians have been craving this type of festival, with over 50,000 tickets selling at the 2023 event.”

Tickets for Jammin 2024 go on sale next Wednesday May 24 at 7pm via Ticket Fairy. Fans can pre-register now until May 24 at jamminfest.com to secure early bird tickets and go in the draw to win a range of exciting prizes.
