Where are you currently based?

I am currently based in Melbourne, Australia.

How did you first start playing music?

I was extremely young when I first gained an interest in music. From dancing to any song my parents put on to picking up the piano and vocal lessons in primary school, I knew music would be something I would be involved in at some point later in life.

What’s been happening recently?

I have been in the studio a lot. Writing, recording and lining up my upcoming releases. I’m super excited to show everyone what I’ve been creating.

Your latest single ‘Good Intent’, is out on the 16th of September, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

The main influences for this song came from artists such as Gracie Abrams and Olivia Rodrigo, mainly drawing reference to the gang vocals in Drivers License, especially when building the depth I was going for.

How did you go about writing Good Intent?

Good Intent was a fascinating one to write, constructed over four months with my co-writer Jessie. We started the song with one perspective, and by the last writing session, the journey of the song and my feelings had changed drastically. Most of my sessions start with a brain dump of ideas and motifs that eventually weave themselves into the tracks I release.

What does this single mean to you?

When writing this single, I was in a battle with my mind. I felt helpless and as if I couldn’t control the narrative people were creating about me. There’s nothing I wanted more than to tell their friends that everything I did was ‘Good Intent’, which became the song’s foundation.

Where and when did you record/produce/master, and who did you work with?

Good Intent was produced and recorded in Melbourne with Hayden Lauersen in March 2022. Then it was passed over to Andrew Edgson at Studios 301 for mastering.

How did you approach the recording process?

The demo had a distinct guitar line, so the first thing we wanted to get right was the guitar. From there, we went straight into recording vocals. Looking back, I am so glad we did this before adding the additional production, as they have this raw nature. The emotion feels real.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I am currently listening to a lot of Sabrina Carpenter and Fletcher, and I am obsessed with the songwriting on the new ‘Emails I can’t send’ album.

What do you like to do away from music?

Away from music, I work for a preventive health charity called Pink Hope. We help empower Australians to understand their risk of hereditary cancer. As a keen health advocate myself, it is the perfect way to work with, support and educate community members to take control of their health outcomes.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2022 going into 2023?

I’ve got a few more tracks coming for the rest of 2022, and I’m excited to play a few gigs in the run-up to 2023.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Currently, my local cafe, ‘The Foreigner’. It is conveniently right around the corner from my Pilates classes!

Jaxxtone – nAtuRal mO0D EP

by the partae September 3, 2022
written by the partae

Venezuelan producer and songwriter Jaxxtone, also known as Duis Nulla, and also as Bitter H. So many personalities, but all of them are the same person. Each one of them has its own sound, with Jaxxtone usually being associated with the Trap scene. With the ‘nAtuRal mO0D’ EP out on August 28th 2022, Jaxxtone is back on Tribal Trap after having released ‘Ad Astra’, ‘Tell Me’ and ‘Breathe’ on that label, demonstrating once again that he has the capacity to produce high-level Trap songs. This EP is now part of a long list of Jaxxtone releases, the most popular ones being ‘Get Away’ (Tuvali) and ‘Gave To Me’ (No Copyright Sounds), earning respectively 4.7 million and 1.8 million streams on Spotify, which led him to signing a publishing deal with Mad Decent Publishing and Hipgnosis Songs Group.

This EP is perfect for any music listener as each one of the songs has its own universe and sets a different mood. Six songs that highlight melodic and vocal elements combined with the typical Trap sounds : 808, hi-hats and snares. Throughout ‘nAtuRal mO0D’, Jaxxtone will take you on a journey to his world with simple but effective productions and melodic sounds that reflect the calm and relaxing part of his personality. Although each song tells its own story, like the more robotic and technologic side on ‘AI’, or ‘nAtuRal mO0D’ and it’s more organic sound, this EP is the perfect example of what to show to your friends if they ever ask about Jaxxtone’s signature sound and style.

Veterans and renowned party starters Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike team up with internationally famed Mexican celebrity and singer Kim Loaiza for their newest single – “Fuego,” out now on the duo’s very own platform Smash The House. The track is a perfect fusion of dance/electronic music and Latin pop vibes, featuring Loaiza‘s sultry Spanish vocals and organic melodies atop a deep, rhythmic bassline. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike bring their dynamic style with a new twist, further demonstrating their abilities as producers to cross and blend genres with ease, also delivering a prime example of how to successfully revive a timeless dance classic, as “Fuego” features samples of Mr. President‘s “Coco Jamboo” from 1996. Whether you’re turning up the volume on your speakers or hearing it live at your favorite venue, things are about to get muy caliente when “Fuego” comes on. This is the second time the duo has collaborated with Kim Loaiza, following 2020’s “Do It!,” which is currently sitting at over 80M streams on all platforms combined and clocking up 316K TikTok videos. The Belgian duo premiered “Fuego” earlier this year at EDC Mexico and Tomorrowland, featuring a live performance by Kim Loaiza, and now fans get the full version to bring back great memories.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

Since their debut in 2007, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been making waves with hits like “The Hum,” “Higher Place” in collaboration with Ne-Yo, and “Hey Baby” with Diplo, all of which went Platinum and spent record amounts of time on the Billboard Dance charts. Further flexing their prowess, the brothers teamed up with Hans Zimmer for a rework of “Dead Men Tell No Tales” from the 5th installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Then teamed up with David Guetta and Kiiara on “Complicated,” which has over 160M streams on Spotify and almost 90M Youtube views, and released one of the biggest songs of the summer 2019 – “Instagram,” which also featured David Guetta, Afro Bros, Daddy Yankee, and Natti Natasha. Pairing these chart-topping accomplishments with a packed tour schedule that has included Tomorrowland, EXIT festival, Creamfields, EDC Las Vegas, and more, the world has fallen in love with the duo’s high-energy performances and dynamic style. They have consistently been ranked on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs and became the first duo to take the #1 spot, further flexing their prowess by teaming up with hitters like Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Fatboy Slim to Lil Jon, and remixing superstars like Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Chainsmokers, Major Lazer and many more. Last year, they finished at #5, clearly showing they are among the most recognizable artists in the history of dance music. Always evolving with the times, clocking up 30 million fans on social media, combined with billions of music streams and video views of their live performances and music, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are certainly ones to watch for many more years to come.

Kim Loaiza

Kim Loaiza is a singer and celebrity from Mexico whose musical career started in 2019 with successful breakthrough hits singles, such as “No seas Celoso” “Me perdiste,” and “Mejor Sola” with Zion & Lennox, amassing over 100M combined streams on Spotify alone. In August 2020, she broke a Guinness World Record for running the most-subscribed Spanish-speaking social media channel. In the following year, Kim became the most-followed Spanish-speaking influencer and currently is the most-followed Mexican on Instagram. In the same year, she broke another record while live streaming on TikTok. Kim‘s live stream had the most users tuning in simultaneously, surpassing the previous record holders, such as The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, and J Balvin. Her TikTok and Instagram accounts are currently being observed by over 66M and 35M people, respectively, making Kim an artist with one of the biggest fanbases. All the past accolades have been followed this year with a 13.13 world tour with JD Pantoja, which turned out to be Kim Loaiza‘s another groundbreaking success with all the dates completely selling out.

Stream ‘Into The Deep’

Gold Coast (Yugambeh Country) based First Nations musician Dani Teveluwe (pronounced ‘tee-va-loo’) is set to captivate with her spirited and soulful take on acoustic-pop with her debut EP, ‘Into The Deep’, out September 2.

Formerly a primary school teacher, the singer-songwriter broke down the walls of her comfort zone and took a courageous leap into music. It seemed impossible at first, but with inspiration from a David Bowie quote, she summoned the determination to make her dream a reality. Dani explains:

“This EP is a culmination of a lot of courage. Not so long ago I lived another life and I never would have believed this (releasing ‘Into The Deep’) would be possible. And it wouldn’t have been, without courage.”

Recorded at Big Note Studios, produced by Tim Goodburn, and mastered by Paul Blakey, this body of work celebrates bravery, and is also an exploration of love in all its forms – romantic, compassionate, and love for the self. Dani’s music weaves this common thread throughout, with each song showcasing a different story, and musical mood to suit. Fittingly, the EP artwork was painted by award-winning visual artists, Tamara Armstrong (known for her Women of Colour collection), inspired by the EP’s theme and the words of David Bowie.

First, we’re taken on a gentle acoustic-led journey with the opening track, ‘Double Shot’. A tale of compassion for someone who can’t see that their behaviour is hurtful to those around them. Carefully sorrowful trumpet notes emphasise the delicate nature of this situation. Overall, it’s smooth and emotively delivered.

Elevating the mood is the second song, ‘Waiting Wasting Time’. With a sauntering melody and soulful afternoon haze, it’s an encouraging mantra about seizing the moment, and doing the things that terrify you. The final bridge is embellished with lovely layered vocals that are sure to inspire goosebumps.

All of the ingredients of a nostalgically-90s love ballad, with a dash of motown combine to create ‘Hypnotise’. A vulnerable moment to recognise the magnetism felt towards someone you’re falling for, this song takes on a jazzy feel with delicately tantalising synths and melody that allow Dani’s vocal prowess to take centre stage.

Next, the artist encourages listeners to embrace summer romance with a feel-good beat and shiny layer of electro-pop shimmer, dreamy ‘ooh’s’ and the infusion of the sah u – a coconut Thai violin (played by Peranya Visitchantaragoon). ‘Sweet Summer Nights’ carries its intent from lyrics through to instrumentation, transporting listeners to a balmy night, dancing under a moonlit sky, embracing sun-soaked skin and welcoming the delight of a romantic encounter.

Seductive Arctic Monkeys-inspired bass pairs with a strong message for the fifth track on the EP. ‘Are We Gonna Wake Up?’ sees Dani reaching deeper with her message, and vocal range has a slight Americana sound for what is perhaps the most compelling song on ‘Into The Deep’. This thought-provoking tune came to fruition in a co-writing session with AIR award-winning and ARIA nominated artist Emily Wurramurra and Matt Collins (WHARVES), organised by NATSIMO and APRA AMCOS. It’s a stirring response to potent feelings of anger and frustration, but also disappointment in humanity following recent world events.

The final track, ‘You’re Love’ was written when Dani was teaching and would see the effects on her students first-hand. Closing out the EP with the signature optimism that Dani is known for, this song is an uplifting dedication of love to children who have been dealt a rough card, or have a difficult home or family environment, but speaks to everyone and aims to spread self-love and joy.

Boasting airplay on 4ZZZ locally, and being named a local artist to watch by Tone Deaf, Dani Teveluwe is also receiving spins internationally in the US, UK, Namibia, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Romania and Canada, and the release of ‘Into The Deep’ will undoubtedly grow her fanbase even more.

Let yourself get whisked away with Dani Teveluwe’s debut EP ‘Into The Deep’, to be released on September 2.

Did you know that tomorrow is your day off? Even if it’s not, that feeling you just experienced, that fleeting moment of sweet relief – that’s what this new song ‘Weekend’s Coming’ is all about. This beautiful slow-burner from Brisbane/Meanjin brass-led octet The Steele Syndicate is out on September 2.

With a four-piece horn section and equally-weighted rhythm section, the exceptionally talented group’s live raucous energy has made them a festival favourite, with appearances at 2021’s Woodford Folk Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Mitchell Creek Festival, Tablelands Folk Festival and headlining Summer Sounds in Melbourne/Naarm.

The title track from their upcoming album –and the second song to be released after the brilliantly infectious and cheeky ‘One Beer (Is Never Enough)’– has the groovy funk-rockers continuing to impress with ‘Weekend’s Coming’.

Taking us on a more heartfelt journey than ever before, ‘Weekend’s Coming’ is more ‘swoon’ than high-energy tune. And it’s a beauty. Embellished with their signature horn-led magic, the song erupts in cathartic release with blissful harmonies and a singalong outro that feels as uplifting and majestic as a band that is half-brass instruments should.

A sincere and emotive indie-rock number that builds from the mood of a melancholic Monday up to an anthemic cry, it’s a desperate plea for the weekend and everything it represents. Steele McMahon elaborates:

“The tune is a cathartic release from the day-to-day grind, and taps into the shared human experience of hard work for something important. Even in the hardest of times, what gets us through is knowing what we’re fighting for. And the weekend is always just around the corner.”

Definitely not strangers to the stage, The Steele Syndicate have played a myriad of festivals and live gigs, and are similarly gaining support from Double J, Australian Music Scene, AAA Backstage, MTV, The Music, LiveWire AU, Scenestr, The Point, as well as a host of community radio stations, the band are taking their raucous and punchy energy to great heights.

Keep an ear out for The Steele Syndicate’s ‘Weekend’s Coming’ on September 2, ahead of the album release on October 14. The band will also be on tour throughout September, October and November, more details below.

Stream ‘The Weekend’

Alt-pop indie darlings Joan & The Giants are back with a tune that will make you want to live your Tuesdays with as much enthusiasm as your Saturdays – get ready for ‘The Weekend’, out on September 2 ahead of their debut EP ‘Me & You’ coming out on September 23 via Tomboi Records.

Joan & The Giants have been standing tall since forming in 2019. The talented Boorloo/Perth-based group centres around musical and romantic partners Grace Newton-Wordsworth and Aaron Birch, sharing their beautiful craft together with bandmembers Riley Sutton and Liam Olsen.

Garnering attention from tastemakers around the country, the band have released two singles so far this year, ‘Slow Motion’ and most recently ‘Home Song’. Now, their new single ‘The Weekend’ is the third release from their highly anticipated debut EP ‘Me & You’ (out on September 23), and like its folk-informed alt-pop predecessors, it’s one that’s set to soar.

A rebellion against modern grind culture and the mentality of ‘living for the weekend’, this track reflects the band’s changed philosophy to live every day with the same enthusiasm: live like you’re 17, fall in love but never fall in line, and spend time with someone whenever it feels right – because why should we only reserve our joy for days that the capitalist calendar dictates? With a melody that seeps in and sticks, earnest drums and cherry-sweet vocals, this is a tune dripping in emotive lyricism and honeyed rhythms, guaranteed to charm ears and dazzle hearts everywhere it’s heard.

During the pandemic’s beginning, Gracie found a sense of freedom from routine and tapped into this liberating feeling for ‘The Weekend’. She explains:

“There was an excitement and a lack of responsibility that was so refreshing and turbulent. I think when we started getting back to reality and going to work and grinding to push a music career again, that pressure and ‘baggage’ came back onto my shoulders, and I really didn’t want to live purely for ‘the weekend’ or wait for a Friday night to feel some kind of relief.”

Joan & The Giants’ most recent release ‘Home Song’ premiered via Triple J (Home & Hosed) and was added to Triple J Unearthed rotation. The song was also played on KCRW (US) and spent three weeks in AMRAP Metro Charts. The band has also seen support from Tone Deaf, Music Feeds, Scenestr, AU Review, AAA Backstage, Aus Music Scene as well as a bunch of community radio stations.

The band will be celebrating the launch of their debut EP at the Rosemount Hotel on Friday the 30th of September with special guests; more information below. In the meantime, get into the spirit of ‘The Weekend’ with Joan & The Giants from Friday, September 2.

BLUESFEST 2023 – FIRST ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT – OVER 40 ARTISTS WITH MORE TO COME

by the partae September 2, 2022
written by the partae

BLUESFEST 2023 – FIRST ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT
 – OVER 40 ARTISTS WITH MORE TO COME

TICKET PRICE REMAINS SAME AS 2022!

In just 31 weeks the 34th Annual Bluesfest’s gates will open for what promises to be the most exciting Bluesfest ever.

Some of the finest contemporary and legendary Blues, Roots, Soul, Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, World and Americana music artists (and more) are confirmed to appear for the first original style Bluesfest since the world’s borders re-opened.

After a hugely successful 2022, that featured the best of predominantly Australian and NZ artists, it’s time to mix it up again. For the first time since 2019, Bluesfest is free and unencumbered to showcase the finest genres of music from all over the globe.

This is an incredible opening line up – over 40 artists alone in this first announcement – with more to come.

And more good news is that ticket prices, camping and VIP tickets remain the same as 2022’s prices. That’s despite the significant increase in cost of international flights and freight logistics, with artists fees also on the rise. Bluesfest will also invest in upgrading the VIP area to raise the VIP experience to new heights.

For the campers that seek a ‘class above’ experience you can upgrade to the Rainbow Tipi accommodation this year [with a modest increase in price] as well as experience further improvements with the onsite rental tents.

The 365 days a year site improvement on the Bluesfest property continue… “Since last year we’ve invested over $500k upgrading and waterproofing the Bluesfest site. Both myself and my team are currently looking at every single aspect of the Bluesfest experience to ensure it’s of the highest quality possible” said Peter Noble OAM.

Today, Bluesfest release 5-day tickets, and VIP tickets at the same 2022 price points. On site camping options also go on sale today at the same prices as 2022 for those who pitch their tents and vans.

In the coming weeks Bluesfest will release more of the line-up, along with the artist play dates so that both day-trippers and 3-day ticket holders can make an informed choice.

Tickets are available now through Moshtix www.bluesfest.com.au/tickets

Stand by for further announcements on two special satellite events happening in Melbourne and Perth, as well as side shows from some of this amazing line up.

A word from Festival Director Peter Noble OAM:

“For the first time since 2019, Bluesfest is presenting a fully international festival experience like the legendary ones we did before the COVID-era.

Whilst there are still plenty of Aussie artists listed in this first and upcoming announcements it is wonderful to once again in 2023, after four long years be able to bring back some of the greatest Blues, Roots, Soul, Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, World and Americana artists (and so much more) back to our shores after so long. As well as, of course, the stars of tomorrow.

We have our largest number of artists ever listed in our first Bluesfest artist announcement… check it out, there’s more than 40 of them. It is such a stunning list for every Bluesfester.

More good news is we’ve made the call to NOT increase our ticket prices. As always there’s a large allocation of tickets so everyone can experience the whole musical enchilada we are proud to be bringing to our shores.

A five-day season ticket at Bluesfest can be a life changing experience, and I promise you I will do my utmost best to present the greatest gathering of artists I can for our 34th Annual Bluesfest at Byron Events Farm over the Easter Long Weekend from April 6 – 10 next year.

For those of you who’d prefer to ‘day trip’ or purchase a 3 day ‘long weekend’ ticket, we are currently working on scheduling the artists’ play dates, and we will be releasing these, as well as the 1 & 3-day tickets soon. Watch this space! It may just be a few short weeks away…

To all Bluesfest fans, artists, suppliers, contractors, volunteers and to my dedicated team – thank you so much for your belief and your support. Together we’ve endured a few hard years. It’s time to get excited… time to come out and play, and to enjoy an experience like no other”

Peter Noble OAM

Emuh – Dysmorphia LP (Feral One Records) Out Now!

by the partae September 2, 2022
written by the partae

Hey Emuh, It’s great to meet you ! How have you been lately?

I’ve been great, thank you. It’s very exciting to see this album come out and the reception so far has been amazing. Glad to finally put this release out into the world!

Congrats on your new release Dysmorphia on Feral One Records. What was your inspiration behind this LP?

I was inspired by The Gorillaz, Still Woozy, Ariana Grande, Charlie Puth, LCD Soundsystem, Radiohead, Walker & Royce, Claude VonStroke and Feral One label boss Longstocking. I wanted to create an album that combined the sounds of pop, house, techno, trap and experimental music – while incorporating my voice, musical sensibilities and aesthetic.

Dysmorphia is eclectic and covers a lot of ground, what are some of the influences that have shaped your musical taste and influenced you as a music producer?

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of dancey pop and vocal music which greatly informed my album. There are so many songs lately that are devoid of originality and emotion – I wanted to make sure those boxes were checked off while still creating a piece that can still inspire and elevate those with less musical experience or specific musical taste.

How important is storytelling for you, and what were you aiming to communicate with this LP?

Each song tells its own story, from a day at Waterworld to a meditative stranding out at sea. I want to give the listener a window into my mind while allowing them the agency to relate and experience it in their own unique way.

What does your setup look like?

I use all digital instruments and Ableton 11 besides a couple hardware Pocket Operators (digital synths as well) and I record my voice with a Shure SM57 paired with a Grace Design 101 preamp. I also use an AKAI MPKmini to program all of my MIDI and do automation. My audio interface is an RME ADI-2 Pro and I use Neumann studio monitors.

What studio gear and/or instruments do you believe define your sound?

My voice and my meticulously crafted library of samples and instruments I’ve used throughout my career as EMUH.

Digital or Analog?

Whichever one helps you get the sound you’re after!

What has been your highlight gig this year?

Definitely my recent performance at Kremwerk in Seattle for the My Techno Weighs A Ton label showcase, I debuted several tracks from my album as well as performed the vocals live which was exhilarating and honestly a bit frightening.

DJ’ing or Music Production?

Music Production

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer our questions, is there anything else you would like to mention before we go?

Thanks again for reaching out. Dysmorphia comes out this Saturday September 2nd and you should help support the release by purchasing a copy of the album on Beatport, listening on Spotify and reposting the tracks on SoundCloud.

Support For ‘Fitzroy Baby’

Premiered via Triple J Unearthed TOPS

Added to Apple Music New In Pop Playlist

“Darcy Doe telling you to put your dirty laundry on the rack is my fave moment! There’s a cool mix of free, dancey grooves then good direction in those hooks when they dig in.”
4 / 5 stars (Declan Byrne, Triple J) [About ‘Fitzroy Baby’]

“Dripping with dream-pop vibes, Fitzroy Baby is a gentle number that flows with sweet indie-pop vibes, shiny synth work, punchy percussion and a feeling of nostalgia with Darcy’s vocal delivery.” (AAA Backstage)

Stream ‘Fitzroy Baby’

Darcy Doe’s (Yugambeh/ Gold Coast) lush dream pop sounds have shone in her magnetic new track ‘Fitzroy Baby’ that was released on August 19. As an ode to nights spent with best friends, Darcy Doe is fittingly pairing the track with an absolutely charming music video.

‘Fitzroy Baby’, just the second release from Darcy Doe, has her forefronting her delicately written love letter to her friends, backed by the enchanting and sophisticated synth-pop soundscape. The track has already seen support from the likes of Triple J Unearthed, AAA Backstage, Scenestr, Aus Music Scene and radios including SYN, RTR FM, 4ZZZ, 3JOY and more.

Reigning in help from friend, director and musician Alisha Todd (GENIIE BOY), Darcy Doe is keeping that childish spark inside burning bright in this accompanying music video. Darcy Doe’s dolls come to life and together they have the best day ever. They lounge around at a tea party, finish off their chores, have a paddle in the pool, and then dance the night away.

The childlike charm and Darcy Doe’s playful nature are a perfect fit for this love letter, celebrating that special level of intimacy held in close friendships.

The stunning new track ‘Fitzroy Baby’ and feel-good clip from Darcy Doe are out now.

Long time collaborators Big Boss & Prav flip their style with a tech-house dancefloor kicker

by the partae September 2, 2022
written by the partae

Mini Skirt is glistening in outrageous, hyper-pop vogue with hints of 00s electro and an abundance of warm, bouncing bass. Sydney’s Prav and Melbourne’s Big Boss both share a passion for loud club music. Mini Skirt maintains this, but adds a sensuous danceability.

Their 2020 collaboration Horus, was a cinematic piece of tear-out dubstep. Sounding as if, the Stargate had been wedged open by a dreadnought and floods of robot soldiers were cascading through. This one is much more of a dance floor number. Think, Riton, Chris Lake or Stace Cadet. Without compromising the details in their sophisticated production style, MIni Skirt is a much more accessible track and will appeal to DJs immediately.   Even with its cutting-edge sound, this bumptious, sexy anthem will remind you of why you started clubbing. Out this Friday (2nd September), Mini Skirt is about to put some serious style in the club.

Jacket Weather – Ducks in A Row EP – PREMIERE

by the partae September 1, 2022
written by the partae

Ahead of tomorrow’s EP Release, The Partae is chuffed to deliver you the first play of Jacket Weather’s new music video. The second in what’s said to be a run of 4 EPs, Jacket Weather play with sound and style on the Ducks in A Row EP

Gunning straight out of the dock at a rate of knots. The opener Just Do It Well with its blazing guitars, slices through the water. Things settle down to a more sultry tone for the final two tracks. Perfect Night, Not Quite is a nostalgic & romantic ditty with charm in spades. The closer (and conceptual title track) Crack is a moorish ode to infatuation and lovesickness. The bands singer Cal describes Crack as  “Trying to make light of the impending doom you feel when you lose (what you think at the time) is the biggest love and maybe the only love you’ll ever have”. You can see the interplay between having cheeky fun and making that they genuinely love. There’s a sincere respect for the influences, with Cal lording the “…Deep pocket groove, inspired by late 70s Yacht Rock, like Steely Dan & Toto”

Self-described as Tongue-in-bill, the Ducks in A Row EP from Jacket Weather has the prolific band maintain their serene facade while paddling expeditiously beneath the surface.

Check out the video here before streaming the EP as of tomorrow!

ALT-pop band THE DRIVER ERA release their brand-new single ‘Malibu’. Stream ‘Malibu’ here.

Laced in escapism, brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch wrote the song while daydreaming about personal experiences. “‘Malibu’ is about reminiscing on experiences in the best locations,” the band says. “It’s about getting away. It’s the spontaneous trip you take with someone – maybe you knew them before, or maybe you’re meeting them for the first time”.

‘Malibu’ follows on the band’s recent single, the dance-inspired ‘Keep Moving Forward’ feat. Nikka Costa – premiered by Rolling Stone, who praised the band for “holding onto some real ‘eclectic’ music” – the funky cut and ‘Malibu’ will be featured on the band’s upcoming ‘Summer Mixtape’ due for release this September.

The Driver Era have also released the “Malibu” official music video, shot and edited by director Tate Warner. The video follows Ross and Rocky on the California coast reminiscing about summer love. ‘Malibu’ is about reminiscing on experiences in the best locations,” the band stated. “It’s about getting away. It’s the spontaneous trip you take with someone — maybe you knew them before, or maybe you’re meeting them for the first time.“

The upcoming project is the follow up to the band’s second album ‘GIRLFRIEND’, it’s lead single ‘Heaven Angel’ and follow-up tracks ‘#1 Fan’ and ‘Leave Me Feeling Confident’, the band has been supported by the likes of Notion who praised ‘GIRLFRIEND’ as “their most inspired – and sonically diverse – body of work yet”, while Clash defined their sound as “vast alt-rock sound, with an endearing soulful groove”, with DORK praising “their ability to meld different genres while retaining that distinctive pop feel”, calling the album “a textured, smart modern pop rock record”.

Known for what Clash called, “intimate, high energy live show”, the band will bring their WORLD TOUR to Australia and will play shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne presented by Live Nation.

Since making their debut with ‘Preacher Man’ four years ago, The Driver Era have rocked up an impressive 300 million streams and 29 million combined social media followers, went on  released one studio album, three EPs and a series of critically acclaimed singles.
