Prepare yourself to be treated to a duo of world-class techno practitioners... Nina Kraviz (RUS) If anyone can stake a claim for being techno's biggest drawcard, it would be Russia's most famous dance music export, Nina Kraviz. She is one of the most talked-about names in contemporary dance music, a popular dance identity who has transmogrified the underground scene by becoming a social and cultural identity. It's easy to get sidetracked by the media attention following Kraviz, but for those tuned in to the nuances of dance music know she is a once-in-a-generation artist and a true tastemaker. At the forefront of the UK's rap scene, JAY1 is finally bringing his self-assured swagger down under. Despite being a relative newcomer to the scene, with his first EP ‘One Wave’ released at the start of 2019, he has made some serious waves both in the UK and globally. His sound spans bouncing dancehall, snappy trap and classic grime. With candid lyrics, bristling in self-confidence, that take centre stage over simple, catchy beats. Originally rapping as Young Jay, JAY1 started making music seriously in 2016 after moving to Coventry. Since then he’s released a string of singles including ‘That’s My Bae’, ‘Good Vibes’ and ‘Becky’ which have built him a loyal fanbase.   2019 was a big year for JAY1 it saw him release his breakout single ‘Your Mrs’. The song had strong chart success in the UK, with the music video hitting 1 million views on YouTube after just three days.   He also set off on a sold out headline tour of the UK and Ireland, as well as landing a spot on the remix of Russ and Tion Wayne’s 'Keisha & Becky', an appearance on Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth radio show and a feature in the Guardian ‘'A funny accent draws bare attention': how regional rappers stormed the chart’.   The end of 2019 saw him release an instant party starter in the form of his latest single ‘Million Bucks’. Meet 20-year-old songwriter-producer Max Leone, the newest artist signed to The Darkroom (behind Billie Eilish), who today releases his debut single 'First Grade' off a forthcoming EP. Described by Paper Mag as "a real winner, complete with smooth vocals and sticky melodies", listen to 'First Grade' HERE. Picking up the guitar at age 7, Leone quickly developed a passion for playing and quickly turned to the violin and piano as well. Countless after-school hours spent practicing, composing as well as learning electronic production via YouTube, led Leone to attend the prestigious Berklee College Of Music as a guitar principal. After his first year, Leone decided to take the chance and leave Berklee for Los Angeles to pursue music full time. Throughout his debut EP, Leone tells his story of navigating a new city alone while chasing a potentially far-fetched dream. He explores themes of self-doubt, longing for anything familiar, and coping with 'modern isolation': keeping up appearances on social media while silently suffering. Inspired by some of music's all-time greats including Otis Redding, John Mayer, Nina Simone, among others, Leone's music is defined by his acoustic-driven songwriting combined with electronic-tinged, urban-pop production. His songs are immediate, recalling the soulful bedroom pop of Omar Apollo or the pop-inflected R&B of Khalid. Written and recorded in one day, 'First Grade' (produced by Luke Niccoli who has worked with Joji, Miya Folick, Taylor Janzen), deals with disappointment, accepting people as they are and realizing perfection is an impossible feat. Max Leone's debut shows to be announced soon, stay tuned for more.   'First Grade' is out via The Darkroom, buy/stream it now. ALGIERS new album There Is No Year is out now!

by the partae January 21, 2020
written by the partae
Praise for There Is No Year

“So consumed will you be by the rich and impassioned performances, you’ll instantly find yourself giving into the penetrating rhythm and blues, exalting urban grooves and sensational soul at play.” – Australian Guitar Magazine

“A victory for the thinking person.” – Beat, 8/10

“There Is No Year is an urgent and crucial statement from a band seething with intent” – STACK

“A heady concoction of post-punk, ’60s soul and political insight” – NME, ★★★★

“Electrifying and unpredictable” – The Guardian, ★★★★

Album Of The Week – The Line Of Best Fit

Following singles ‘Dispossesion’, ‘Void’ and ‘We Can’t Be Found’, London/NYC four-piece release their highly anticipated third album There Is No Year via Matador Records / Remote Control.

There Is No Year was recorded in New York throughout 2019 by childhood friends and Atlanta natives Franklin James Fisher, Ryan Mahan and Lee Tesche, as well as drummer Matt Tong (ex-Bloc Party), alongside producers Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Oren Ambarchi) and Ben Greenberg (Zs, Uniform, The Men). The album is titled after author and fellow Atlanta native Blake Butler’s novel of the same name, a major inspiration to the band over the course of the album’s making.

“Even those aware of the ideals of this outspoken four-piece will find their latest direction on There Is No Year traversing unprecedented ground,” says Butler in his bio for the album. From the instant synth-pulse of the opening seconds of There is No Year, it’s clear that Algiers have set out to stake new ground, internally as much as sonically. At the forefront of this evolution is the centrality of power housed in Algiers’ multi-instrumentalist lead vocalist, Franklin James Fisher, whose voice and words provide the backbone of the album, his lyrics sourced entirely from an epic poem, Misophonia, composed during his search for meaning amidst a protracted personal period of anxiety and lack.

There Is No Year encompasses future-minded post-punk R&B from the trapped heart of ATL, where they began; to industrial soundscapes à la 4AD-era Scott Walker or Iggy & Bowie’s Berlin period; to something like the synthetic son of Marvin Gaye and Fever Ray. The whip-tight rhythm section of multi-instrumentalist Ryan Mahan and Matt Tong moves back and forth from infectious menace to sci-fi soundtrack to big band fever dream. Mahan’s beat programming and synth constructions fill out the fibrous threshold, while Tesche’s sound-sleeves and aural-layering shapeshift into a richly polished means of exploration, revealing more and more the deeper you delve.

“Excellent” – Q Magazine ****
“A welcome and intensely moving return” – Sunday Times Culture
“Could well be their finest album yet…” – Evening Standard ****

Bombay Bicycle Club are very proud to release their new album – and first in five years – Everything Else Has Gone Wrong, out now via the band’s own label Mmm… Records / Caroline Australia. The album is met with glowing reviews internationally, and profiled here in Australia as Feature Album on Double J all this week.

The record was largely written in Cornwall and recorded in the US, alongside Grammy Award-winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent/Sharon Van Etten/War on Drugs). It features latest single and title track ‘Everything Else Has Gone Wrong’ and the band’s euphoric returning single ‘Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)‘, as celebrated by international tastemakers including Pitchfork (“Invigorating hooks”), Billboard (“Rhythmic and filled with stunning melodies”) and NME (“A long awaited comeback”).

Bombay Bicycle Club have continued to grow, develop and evolve since the release of their debut album, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose, back in 2009 when they signalled their arrival as young teenagers. New music joins Bombay Bicycle Club’s #1 selling, Mercury Music Prize nominated fourth album So Long, See You Tomorrow (2014) – including Hottest 100 voted single ‘Luna’ (#98) – and sophomore album A Different Kind Of Fix (2011) – triple j Feature Album, including Hottest 100 voted single ‘Shuffle’ (#88).

Rarely in recent years has there been a British guitar band who have the craft and ability to avoid categorisation whilst uniting hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe. With an innate ear for melody and invention, the four-piece are a very welcome return to the fold just as British guitar music makes a timely renaissance.

TRICK is Patrick Topping’s record label which has recently seen him curate parties around the globe, including at Printworks in London supported by Len Faki and Roman Flügel, in Amsterdam’s underground Central Station, in Belfast with Amelie Lens & now he is bringing the renowned event to Melbourne this April. After hosting a series of events at The Wool Store, including Solomun, Jamie Jones, John Talabot & Willaris. K, The Wool Store took an indefinite hiatus - now at the delight of music lovers, the space will come back to life again for a series of headline shows. The Wool Store will once again be fitted with a world-class sound system paired with meticulously curated production & set designs. For the Melbourne edition of TRICK, Topping has selected a quality support lineup including UK’s much loved selector, Skream, as well as Dublin born producer, Matador, & house-producer Elliot Adamson. Local support will come from Casey Leaver and Lozi.  Built in the 1940s, the Australian Heritage Commission listed 'Wool Store' is of regional historical, cultural & architectural significance. It is the largest single wool store building in Victoria, built on a grand scale with considerable architectural refinement. It represents a peak of pastoral development when Australia rode on the sheep's back with the wool industry playing a significant role in the development of Australia, carrying it's economy post-World War 2 in what is now known as the 'post-war wool boom'. The venue is an addition to Untitled Group’s fast growing portfolio including Beyond the Valley, Pitch Music & Arts, Wildlands, Grapevine Gathering, and Ability Fest, as well as the company’s established management, booking & label divisions. Thick as Thieves search the globe looking for the most exciting underground artists of today, to bring you the freshest touring roster in Australia.  Sourcing the best local & international DJs, their events create a positive atmosphere that leaves our punters feeling good and doing good. Patrick Topping:  Carving a reputation as the contemporary face of British house and techno, Patrick Topping continues to garner widespread acclaim on account of his prolific production prowess and dynamic DJ sets. Soundtracking countless sunrise memories as resident of Jamie Jones’ famed Paradise parties at Ibiza’s DC-10, Patrick’s now 50-release strong back-catalogue is bursting with iconic dance-floor records on labels such as Hot Creations, Truesoul and Relief Records, with further remixes for Calvin Harris and Booka Shade charting Patrick’s meteoric rise. Armed with an arsenal of career defining productions in the form of the Beatport chart- topping ‘Be Sharp Say Nowt’, Green Velvet collaboration ‘Voicemail’, and 2014’s Ibiza track of the season ‘Forget’, Patrick’s far reaching appeal has seen him play numerous festivals including Coachella, Awakenings, Ultra, and Tomorrowland. As well as completing several tours of Australia, Europe, South America, Asia and South Africa. Patrick has performances confirmed for the year ahead including Movement Detroit, Kappa FuturFestival and for the first time is hosting his own stage a festival, at London’s Lovebox. With Patrick reaching number 11 in Resident Advisor’s top DJs poll, landing three DJ Awards, one DJ MAG ‘Best of British’ Award and becoming one of Mixmag’s cover stars the northern powerhouse now enters a refined and developed chapter of his career. The recent birth of Patrick’s own label, TRICK, has provided a home for the UK artist to exhibit his versatility as a producer, as well as a platform to showcase the wealth of the emerging talent which he has been pushing in his DJ sets. Following the recent finale of his acclaimed Motion event series, the UK producer looks set to take things to the next level throughout 2019. Skream: As one of the UK’s best-loved selectors Skream has enjoyed the kind of consistency most DJs and producers can only dream of. His passion for collecting and playing music is unrelenting; disco, house, techno and everything in between… it runs deep into his core and he lives it every single day. Still only in his early thirties, Skream has achieved more in the last 15 years than most people do in a lifetime, yet his hunger and enthusiasm is akin to that of a man who is only just getting started. Tracks like ‘Rollercoaster’ (ft. Sam Frank) and his remixes of Duke Dumont ‘Need You’ and ‘Infinity’ by Infinity Ink helped introduce the world to Skream’s shift in styles, while his mix output from 2013, cemented the change in direction seamlessly blending a variety of 4x4 styles across all of his tracks. Parallel to these pivotal releases he also showcased his eclectic tastes at his Skreamizm parties across the UK and the rest of the world, and so a new chapter began. Matador: As DJ Awards’ 2016 Electronic Live Performer, Matador is a revolutionary live artist with a shining reputation for versatility, whilst never compromising on quality. Accolades have been showered on the Dublin-born producer, from proud ambassador of the NEVE 5088 Console, and Richie Hawtin’s PLAYDifferently MODEL1 mixer, his tenure as an ENTER resident at their worldwide events, to his consistent spot in RA’s Live Artist poll, bringing him rapid worldwide acclaim and a devoted worldwide fan base of clubbers and peers alike. Fontaines D.C. met as a quintet in Dublin, influenced and driven in equal measure by the rich history of their hometown’s counter-culture, their response has been to make concise and immediately authentic indie-punk that has done anything but fall on deaf ears. Their debut album, Dogrel (released in early 2019), spits, snarls and snaps with the very best of ‘em, but it also yearns, like the greatest Irish music must do. Their Mercury Prize-nominated debut earned the band incredibly high praise in the likes of Pitchfork, NPR, New York Times, Rolling Stone and many more. The Guardian even went as far as calling it a ‘perfect debut’.  The band have toured extensively over the last year, selling out their last three UK and EU headline tours, as well as a sold-out US tour. 'A mature and thoughtful exercise in leftfield, melodic dance music' - Hyponik ‘An up and coming talent with a penchant for abstract melodic shimmers and a club focussed attitude’ - The Ransom Note Fans of Jon Hopkins' or Bonobo's cinematic electronica will fall head over heels for Juno Mamba’ - Happy Mag 'Not one you want to miss' - Something You Said It is with great excitement that Soothsayer announce Melbourne producer Juno Mamba’s debut EP Light Echoes will be released on Friday 20 March. To mark the occasion, Juno has shared his second single from the EP – the monumental track ‘Blossom’ and has announced two very special headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne next month. Light Echoes is an atmospheric and cerebral EP that was inspired by time, place and emotion. Aptly titled, a ‘light echo’ is an astronomical phenomenon that relates to delayed reflections of light that can allow us to see into the past. Juno Mamba plays with this concept and the big questions it poses, both universally and individually,  “The process of creating Light Echoes ended up being a journey of self-discovery. Trying to get an understanding of the world; past, present and future, and how I see myself fitting within it has always been a constant struggle. How can I contribute positively to this world in what I do, and inevitably leave behind?” Premiered last night via triple j Home & Hosed and via Complex (UK), ‘Blossom’ is an emotionally charged track that builds on the dystopian soundscapes created in Juno’s debut single ‘Flicker’. ‘Flicker’ saw Juno Mamba play with musical intricacies inspired by Japanese architect Tadao Ando’s manipulation of space and light. On ‘Blossom’, Juno Mamba masterfully plays with tension and release, resulting in an electrical surge of a crescendo that propels the track to a new dimension with a firm focus on the club.  “I like taking sounds and layers from songs I've written and incorporating them into others. There's one sound in particular at the end of ‘Blossom’ that was taken from ‘Flicker’. Having these familiar elements in tracks, connects the songs together and reiterates that everything is connected.” 2019 was a tremendous first chapter for Juno Mamba. Within months of its release, ‘Flicker’ has seen global playlisting, airplay on BBC Radio 1, received international praise from the likes of The Ransom Note, ADSR Collective, Our Culture Mag and stereofox and was remixed by renowned Canada-via-Berlin producer Nathan Micay (LuckyMe/Whities). With the release of ‘Blossom’, Juno shows no sign of slowing down in 2020. Light Echoes is out Friday 20 March and to celebrate its release, Juno Mamba will be playing his first headline shows at Melbourne’s Colour and Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory Gallery Bar. If ‘Flicker’ is the sonic equivalent of a shutter of light, ‘Blossom’ is a supernova explosion. The rest of Light Echoes EP will arrive soon and we can’t wait to share more Juno Mamba with the world. New album due out Autumn 2020 via Because Music / Caroline Australia Los Angeles-based French singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Soko, has released her new single “Being Sad Is Not A Crime,” alongside a  fantastical music video directed by Gilbert Trejo. The song is from her third album, which will be released in the Autumn via Because Music / Caroline Australia. Recorded in New York with producer Patrick Wimberly (Solange, MGMT, Chairlift) and mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Slowdive) the track is an honest look at the ups and downs of natural emotions, even the uncomfortable ones.  “Why should we have to pretend smile and put filters on everything?” asks Soko. “You shouldn’t have to apologize for having emotions. As long as you’re not hurting anyone, all emotions should always be welcome. I wrote the song feeling very hopeless, but wanting the music to sound very happy and comforting.” Directed by Soko's friend Gilbert Trejo (Pixies, Diiv, Starcrawler), the clip for "Being Sad Is Not A Crime" was shot at the historic Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles. Soko says, “It was my first time not directing my own music video and Gilbert made it an easy transition every step of the way. I had wanted to create something at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater for a long, long time, and wrote the entire treatment hoping they would let us shoot there! It was an important video for me: tackling the struggles between having to keep working feeling like a puppet, but also just wanting to be a mum and take a break for a second." As the title suggests, the video explores the societal pressure to always put on a happy face. But, it also highlights the struggles of being a working mother and the lack of adequate support systems.  In the video, set in a not-so-dystopian-future where emotions aren't allowed and controlled by the government, Indigo Blue, Soko’s baby, joins her at the theater, joyfully exploring backstage, sharing tender moments before she has to return to work. Indigo is wrested from her arms and tucked away backstage watching his mom's performance on a monitor waiting for her to be done.  As Soko has a moment of sadness about this whole situation, the theater is raided by the SAD Patrol. Noting that it was Indigo’s first time in front of the camera, Soko explains, “It was a very special moment captured by a very special friend: Alexis Zabe (Florida Project). He was the director of photography on the video, filming Indigo with so much love. Our babies are the same age and friends since the womb, so it felt very natural and safe and magical to do this project all together.” Soko made her full-length debut with the 2012 album I Thought I Was An Alien, which Stereogum praised as “gorgeous, ethereally plaintive.” The track “We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow” was featured in Tatia Pilieva’s video “First Kiss.” After the video went viral, the song entered the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart.  Her sophomore album, My Dreams Dictate My Reality, was released in 2015 and landed her on the covers of such magazines as NYLON, Dazed, L’Officiel and At Large, to name a few. The album included such songs as “Who Wears the Pants??” plus “Monster Love” and “Lovetrap,” which featured Ariel Pink. Pitchfork observed, “brimming with nervy, post-punk verse, defiant swagger, and the blackest of humor – [My Dreams Dictate My Reality] feels like her proper coming-out party.” Soko has also collaborated with such artists as Ariel Pink, Beach Fossils, The Brian Jonestown Massacre. She received her second César nomination for her lead performance in the 2016 French film The Dancer. TAME IMPALA ANNOUNCE BIGGEST EVER AUSTRALIA & NZ TOUR FOR APRIL 2020 AHEAD OF ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM VERY SPECIAL GUESTS KHRUANGBIN APPEARING ON ALL DATES

written by the partae

This April, legendary psych-rock phenomenon TAME IMPALA will embark on their biggest ever tour of Australia and New Zealand. Starting in Auckland on Thursday 16 April at Spark Arena, the incredible all ages show heads to Brisbane’s Entertainment Centre on Saturday 18 April, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Monday 20 April, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Thursday 23 April, Adelaide’s Entertainment Centre Arena on Saturday 25 April; before heading to Perth for a huge hometown show at RAC Arena on Tuesday 28 April.

Joining Tame Impala on all dates are Texan genre-defiers, Khruangbin. In Australia last year playing their debut sell-out headline tour, the sunny instrumental three-piece will warm crowds with their mind-expanding live show.

Led by multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker, Tame Impala have established themselves as one of Australia’s most astounding live acts. A meditative, light-infused party of psychedelic euphoria, their live experience is world renowned – last year impressing at prestigious headlining slots such as Coachella, Glastonbury, Primavera, and Splendour in the Grass.

“Kevin Parker and his sensational band continue to prove that their ever-expanding sound is fit for the biggest of stages” – ★ ★ ★ ★ NME

“The panoramic sound, trippy light shows, and confetti cannons of Tame Impala’s live shows are the stuff of stoner legend.” – Pitchfork

“the mind-melting live experience that’s made them one of Australia’s most treasured and in-demand music exports” – triple j

In response to the bushfires currently ravaging Australia, Kevin Parker has announced that a donation from Tame Impala’s 2020 tour will be made to bushfire relief efforts, saying:

“I’ve been hanging out to tour Australia for a long time now so I’m super excited to be able to finally be able to announce. In the past few weeks I’ve been devastated to see what’s been happening with the fires at home and we want to do our bit to help, so we’re going to be donating $AUD300,000 to bushfire relief charities.

We’ve all seen so many generous donations coming in from all around the world, which is amazing. We’re still working through exactly where the dollars will go but I want to ensure that no charity in need during this time is overlooked and that our contribution is helpful for both human and wildlife victims, as well being used actively in climate change research and bushfire prevention.”

This April, fans will experience songs from the highly anticipated new album, The Slow Rush to be released February 14. Tantalising with shimmering singles, the most recent ‘Lost in Yesterday’ is “swimming in nostalgia and hooked on a funky rhythm section” (Billboard).

In the wake of No.1 ARIA charting album Currents, Tame Impala’s last Aussie tour in 2015 saw them sell out venues across the country, including an iconic Sydney Opera House forecourt appearance. Debuting smash hit ‘The Less I Know The Better’ on tour that year, the anthemic song has accumulated over 450 million streams.

Obtaining global success, Tame Impala boasts two Grammy Nominations, eight ARIA Awards, and a Brit Award, amongst countless others. Besides his acclaimed Tame fame, Kevin Parker has also lent his musical genius to collaborations with Mark Ronson, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Travis Scott.

KHRUANGBIN return after last year’s in-demand Australian tour, which saw them add shows and upgrade venues. On their upcoming visit, they will bring songs from 2019’s Hasta El Cielo, along with ‘Texas Sun’, a recent collaboration with fellow Texan, Leon Bridges. A mix of Thai-surf punk, Persian rock music, 1980’s Algerian symphonia, with a dash of disco, soul, and Balearic music, their hypnotic live show is not to be missed “rich in beautiful psychedelic colour, by extension, it celebrates international culture and unity.” – The Line of Best Fit

Sure to be one of the most exciting tours of the year, experience Tame Impala’s triumphant return across Australia and New Zealand this April!

by the partae January 20, 2020
written by the partae

2020 promises to be another grand year for events in the UK. With everything that's going on in one of the world's commercial and cultural centres, it can be hard to pick which ones to actually pay a visit to. Here's a list of some of the most unique events, festivals, talks, concerts, and shows to narrow down your own cultural to-do list.

2020 promises to be another grand year for events in the UK. With everything that’s going on in one of the world’s commercial and cultural centres, it can be hard to pick which ones to actually pay a visit to. Here’s a list of some of the most unique events, festivals, talks, concerts, and shows to narrow down your own cultural to-do list.

London International Mime Festival

London International Mime Festival

Any lover of classic European theatre would be remiss to not attend the London International Mime Festival. Time Out has the scoop on what we can expect from the festival’s 43rd edition: a lipsync drag performance from creative duo Thick & Tight, a Chaplin-inspired tramp down memory lane, an aerial German circus about parenthood, and the bare-bones clowning of the intriguing Trygve Wakenshaw. If you’ve always been curious about mime and theatre, this is one festival you simply cannot miss. The festival is on now and will finish on February 2.

PPPoker Festival

PPPoker is an app that has exploded in user numbers over the last years. Unlike other poker apps, PPPoker is all about the social dynamics of the game than the wagering aspect of poker. And now, as in previous years, it’s launching a wave of tournaments across the world in 2020, the first of which is happening at Aspers Casino in London on January 15 to 19. During the 5-day event, Cardplayer reports that the PPPoker Festival will also host a player’s party. This will include “fun games, a live DJ and jackpot prizes”. This tournament is the perfect place to see some of the world’s best poker players compete.

London Music Conference

London Music Conference

This conference/festival is a veritable who’s who of the London electronic music scene. Apart from concerts from brands like Red Bull Radio, Boiler Room, and Beatport, the London Music Conference will also feature discussion panels on the big topics surrounding the city’s nightlife, inclusivity and safe spaces, the role of social media in 2020, and other factors that are shaping the future of British electronic music. This political and musical gathering of the minds behind London’s nightlife will happen on January 30 to February 1.

National Geographic Traveller Food Festival

What makes this festival different from the tons of other food festivals that are happening in the UK in 2020? It’s the only one that’s been created and developed by global science and entertainment brand National Geographic, a two-day festival that’s dedicated to both food and travel experiences around the world. This means cooking demos, tasting workshops, exhibitor stalls, and panel discussions celebrating two of the most powerful driving forces of global culture: food and travel. Catch the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival at the Business Design Centre, Upper Street, London on July 18 to 19.

How The Light Gets In

CREDIT: By Σ – Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0

Named after lyrics from the song Anthem by Leonard Cohen, How The Lights Gets In is a celebration of music, politics, literature, and philosophy. It’s one of the few festivals where the likes of media critic and philosopher Noam Chomsky shares the stage with heavy-hitting musical headliners such as British Sea Power and Anna Calvi. The best of contemporary music and philosophy under one roof — aural pleasure at its finest. While its actual dates are yet to be announced, this is one festival that should definitely be in your Google Alerts.

Nix Northwest announces upcoming release of his debut 9-track EP ‘Life’s A Bitch, I Just Need An Early Night’ following two singles from the same project ‘Paradise Pending’ and ‘See U In The Morning’ ‘Life’s A Bitch, I Just Need An Early Night’ delves into the journey of a young man’s search for wisdom of self in a world so abundant with bravado and façades that most people never discover who we truly are. Is there even an absolute truth to our innermost being? Who knows... Many of us get so caught up in who we think we should be that we lose sight of true sincerity of our being. These songs collectively navigate through a young man’s search for a true understanding of his emotions and behaviours, which, in his mind, should lead him to a better understanding of his true innermost self. The Young Wizard represents the man that has gained the wisdom and knowledge of self yet still remains somewhat naïve of the fact that he still very much falls victim to the same bravado and façade put on by everyone around him.
