January 24, 2020 (Vancouver, BC) – Vancouver’s electro dream-pop artist, Noble Oak today shares the video for his new single “Morning”. In addition to the video release, Noble Oak also announces his label debut album, entitled Horizon, slated for release in spring 2020. “Morning” is out now on all music services via Last Gang Records.
Noble Oak’s forthcoming LP Horizon follows the release of Collapsing Together (2017), Past Life (2016) which prompted comparisons to the likes of The War on Drugs, Bob Moses, and Tame Impala and international praise from Stereogum, HYPEBEAST, Majestic Casual, DIY, Indie Shuffle, CLASH Magazine and more. It comes on the heels of the smash success of 2016’s single “Dream-Spark,” which has more than 5 million streams on Spotify.

RICARDO TOBAR – ‘AFTER THE MOVIE’ EP OUT NOW Releasing his first ever vinyl release ‘El Sunset’ on James Holden’s, Border Community back in 2007, Chilean producer Ricardo Tobar has since intricately constructed his way around the parameters of emotionally-lead, highly atmospheric electronic music. Having brought his sound forward to grace the rosters of Jennifer Cardini’s, Correspondant, ESP Institute and MUSAR Recordings, Ricardo continues to extend his already significant discography, now returning to MUSAR Recordings for a third time with ‘After The Movie’ EP.
Title track, ‘After The Movie’ forms a special cut that has been held in Ricardo’s locker for quite some time. Uncovered by MUSAR Recordings label head, on a podcast from way back, it seemed only natural that this unreleased music from Ricardo would find its home on the Amsterdam-Tel-Aviv label. “This EP is quite special to me because it reflects a long timeline in my work.
The ‘After The Movie’ track had been in the vault for ages until David from MUSAR found it in an old podcast; it really takes me back to those first steps in recording music.” Ricardo Tobar
Across his EP, Ricardo plays with varying textures and arrangements that in turn provide a cross-section of his sound that has expanded and developed over time. ‘After The Movie’ presents the experimental ambience synonymous with his early works, whilst ‘Parques’ brings an idyllic, cinematic feel with strictly crafted synth arrangements riding high, post-rock influences also show through. ‘Regain Your Power’ represents a change of course, whilst also channeling a political message punctuated by social unrest taking place in Ricardo’s home country, Chile. He abandons experimentalism in favour of tougher 4×4 elements, allowing his machines to run riot.
“The mixture of ideas and feelings on this EP have a politically charged spirit, as electronic music always does. A few weeks after I finished ‘Regain Your Power’ the whole Chilean social explosion took place with the same ideals I had in mind when recording the track.”

Stepping up on the remix is a pair whose names are etched into the history of UK electronic music, Andy Turner and Ed Handley a.k.a. Plaid. Reworking title track ‘After The Movie’, they produce an emotive, soundscape complete with droning basslines and ex-terrestrial flourishes.
To accompany and compliment the psychedelic sonics of Plaid’s unique mix, distinguished creative film-maker Max Kelan Pearce provides a visual representation in his exclusive music video, following on from his previous works for Hodge and Minimal Violence. Premiered by tastemaker blog, The Ransom Note, Max experiments with VHS degradation and archive footage, all overlaid with viscous swirling textures of ‘Ink in Milk’ techniques for trippy, psychedelic effect. In 2015 Sandro Cavazza started working with Tim, top lining and co-writing songs for 2015’s Stories album (Sunset Jesus, Gonna Love Ya). In 2016 Sandro was asked to join Tim on a bus tour, driving across the US going through national parks and writing music along the way, ending the tour in Miami for Tim’s show at Ultra Festival.
When Tim passed in April 2018, Sandro reached out to Kygo to see if he would want to put together a version of Forever Yours as a tribute to Tim, to honour what he had meant for both of them. For Kygo, it was a realisation of a goal for the DJ/producer.

Sydney’s Northern Beaches Council is staging a Rock Relief concert at Brookvale Oval to support bushfire and drought-affected communities.
The all-ages show will kick off at 2pm on Saturday 15 February and aims to raise over $1 million.
Tickets cost $55 and are on sale now here.
People are also encouraged to make an additional donation at the time of purchase to help raise as much money as possible and to show how much the Northern Beaches community cares.
All profits from the show, and booking fees through the ticketing agency Humanitix, will be donated to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery campaign.
The Rural Fire Service (RFS) who have been partnering with Council at other summer events to raise funds, will also be onsite collecting for their bushfire appeal.

Mayor Michael Regan said the scale of the bushfire and drought devastation was shocking.

“This crisis is like nothing we have ever seen and I have been inundated by people in the community wanting to help out. While Council has been supporting our sister city Gunnedah, raising funds through Rotary at our summer events, supporting urgent donation collections at local surf clubs and donating all the profits from the Sun Run to Wires, this event will make a huge difference to thousands of suffering families.
“Those lucky enough to get tickets can be confident knowing they will have a great day and they are contributing to a great cause.
“The crisis is not over yet and the best thing we can do now is to support the front line agencies like the Red Cross so they can get the funds to where they are needed most.”
Multi-award winning, singer and songwriter Christine Anu says its times like this we need to connect and help each other.
“Like the millions all over the world, I too have looked on with devastation as these bushfires ravage our country. In times like these, Australians are so good at coming together like one big family to support each other.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of Rock Relief, knowing that it will raise some much needed funds and bring people together. Let’s focus on connection and community when we need it most,” she said.

Rock Relief will be the first concert at Brookvale Oval since the Bourbon Festival in November 2007.

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?
I’m currently based in Sydney, living in Cronulla. To my understanding, the music scene in town and around Sydney has been hit pretty hard by some really short sighted legislation over the last few years, some of which has very recently been repealed. I have high hopes that things will turn around and get better for artists and business, but that really comes down to people being willing to spend the money and time supporting local and independent artists.
How did you first start playing music?
I started singing lessons when I was in Year 6. I didn’t actually think anything would come of it, I just kind of figured out that I could do it and thought it keep it up as a creative outlet. When I started getting guitar lessons from my band mate Luke, we realised pretty quickly that something could be made of it if we could cobble some songs together. About a year later, here we are.
What’s been happening recently?
Since pretty much the start of the year, Luke and I have been touring nationally with The Beautiful Girls, which has been fantastic. In between, we played the Make It Rain benefit in Byron, and that was just an amazing few nights. Beyond that, really just trying to consume and learn from as much new music as possible and trying desperately to write some new material.
Have you been recording lately?
Not since the first batch of recordings that yielded the songs we’ve released up until now. But myself and the band are keen to get back into the studio in the coming months to work on some new material that we’ve been playing around with for a few months. By that time, I should have already written up some new stuff too. In short, I’m optimistic that we’ll have some new stuff recorded within the year.
How do you approach the recording process?
The best approach, I think, is just to be as prepared as possible. Have the songs mostly finished either in your head or jammed out between the band. Also be willing to experiment and change up songs. It’s really hard to make changes to something that, in your head, already feels final and complete, but getting rid of that voice that says “don’t change anything, it won’t be as good” can open up a whole array of new ideas and sounds. Or it could be trash, in which case you’re going in with even less doubt about your original ideas. It’s win-win, really.
What programs/instruments do you use?
During the shows, I just play an acoustic guitar of Luke’s. Really beautiful piece of kit. Otherwise, I don’t play anything. My main instrument is definitely my voice. In the studio, we record the acoustic live and Luke will jump on his Jazzmaster for effects, riffs and whatnot. We use Cubebase to record the tracks.
Who do you usually work with?
For the most part, it’s myself, Luke, our drummer James and our bass player Chris that make up the band. In the studio, Luke and Ian Pritchett co-produce the material.
What’s been happening on the touring front?
We kicked off on the Beautiful Girls’ tour at the very beginning of January. Since then it’s been either driving or flying from here to there, Queensland to Victoria back to NSW. A lot of really great shows, a lot of really great people. It’s great meeting people and talking to people in between and throughout shows, hearing what people think, what they like and what they don’t. It’s one of the best parts of touring, just seeing new people and new places.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Over the last few weeks I’ve been trying to get to some artists that have been on my list for a while that I haven’t really explored yet. Most recently, I’ve been listening through Rage Against the Machine’s discography because it keeps me awake in transit. I’ll be moving on to Outkast and Björk after that. Radiohead, Talking Heads, David Bowie and Swans make up a consistent part of my music diet. And the odd individual album here and there. Sunbather by Deafheaven made an appearance, which is about the prettiest nightmare I’ve ever subjected myself to.
Who or what influences your sound and songwriting?
My songwriting is largely influenced by whatever I’m listening to at the current period in time. It’s never one artists necessarily, but I try to take the best parts or the best sounds or the best ideas from a few artists and turn it into something that, at the very least, sound like my own words. According to David Bowie, “Picasso said, it’s not what you steal, it’s how you use it”. At this point in my career, any comparisons to the people I idolise are welcome, because the people I idolise are brilliant.
What do you like to do away from music?
I do a lot of video gaming. A whole lot of video gaming. Probably too much, but I think there’s massive artistic merit in games that frequently overlooked. I try to read as much as possible as well. I’ve been chugging through David Byrne’s How Music Works, which is a really, really well-written and insightful read. I’ve also been attempting, albeit slower than I would like, to catch up on a lot of movies and TV that’s been sitting on a list for far too long.
What’s planned for 2020?
Honestly, its hard to say. A lot of what we’re doing is playing by ear, seeing how our releases go and planning it out from there. We’re definitely keen to continue along with the tour, definitely keen to get in the studio at some point. A lot of writing in between, a lot of gigging. Basically just working on building up this pretty little empire in any way possible.
Favourite food and place to hang out?
It would either be pizza or chicken. In saying that, our family restaurant, Queen Margherita in Cronulla, makes a hell of a Bolognese. By far my favourite thing in the place. As for my favourite place to hang out, there’s really nothing like home for me. But I’ll find enjoyment any place as long as I’m with the right people who can keep me distracted enough to where I don’t miss my bed too much.

Eric Estornel, better known as Maceo Plex unveils the first details of the M³ project combining all three monikers of Maceo Plex, Maetrik (Live) and Mariel Ito. M³ will debut with LA based venue and promoters Factory 93, at El Pueblo de Los Angeles on Saturday 14th March.
Whether it be the techno sounds of Maceo Plex, the darker shades of Maetrik (Live), or the ambience of IDM/electro moniker Mariel Ito, M³ forms a unique three-part, multidimensional sensory experience showcasing each alias. Taking the audience on an evolving journey of shapes, structures, visuals and new music, M³ sees Maceo Plex enter 2020 with his most innovative project to date.
Taking place at the historic location of El Pueblo de Los Angeles, the cultural district is situated to the backdrop of downtown L.A, with the freeway running North and South across the city’s skyline. The first time that the district has hosted an outdoor electronic music event of this nature, M³ will take the audience on an evolving experience, warping and exploring the perception of time, space and reality.

For Avoidant’s 3rd release and kicking off 2020 for the label is Autonomous. After a chance meeting and several demo exchanges, this new project has birthed the Dialekt EP. Drawing inspiration from Drexciyan-era Electro, Autonomous delivers on high intensity, funked out and mercurial minded tracks, designed with attitude and channelling the spirit of raw Detroit electronics.
Title track Dialekt, is a mechanical mind bender as an ominous synth hook draws you deeper into the world of the Automaton. The Void remains steady with precision 808 beats and percussion, leading against a backdrop of twisted, acid soaked synths and a stylistic 80’s string. The world was introduced to LA-based DJ and producer Valentino Khan in 2014, when he burst onto the scene with his debut EP “In Khan We Trust” on Skrillex’s OWSLA label.
