With high praise from i-D, Paper, Notion, Fader and more, and a sound that melds neo-soul, R&B, and a love for Erykah Badu and Ella Fitzgerald, Andrea Valle has served up seven new contenders for song of the summer. Today, the Philly-based songstress drops her sophomore EP Lovergirl via b4 / Remote Control. The seven-song EP includes recently released single ‘Wild,’ which Zane Lowe called “an absolute stunner” on his Beats 1 show, Nylon praised as “sensual and glistening,” and whose video is an otherworldly digital get down directed by Sarah Nicole Francois.
On Lovergirl, Valle expands on her blueprints that “sit in the sweet spot between R&B and neo-soul” (i-D) and her masterwork of lovelorn lyrics. Themes of love, closure and self-worth run through the 7-track EP, almost entirely penned by Valle save for a feature from Brooklyn rapper AJRadico.
‘Wild’ is the lead single from the Lovergirl EP. Valle explains of the single. “It’s saying: are you meeting my standards? Are you meeting my worth? This is what I need and what I require to be in this love.” The track was produced by acclaimed duo Nicky Davey. “Making the track with them was so surreal,” she recalls. “The vibe in the studio sat with me and carried its way through.”

PRAISE FOR ‘MILK IN MY BOWL’
“Nourishing stomp-down from this duo! Bootleg Rascal are on a roll in 2020.”
Dave Ruby Howe – triple j Unearthed (AUS)
“Bootleg Rascal continue their reign with new single, Milk In My Bowl.”
Pilerats (AUS)
Added to Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday (AU/NZ)’ and ‘Indie Arrivals’ playlists
Bootleg Rascal have just unveiled ‘Milk In My Bowl’ – another taste from their forthcoming staggered EP titled ‘Collaborations of Very Isolated Delinquents “19’ – produced by the band themselves, Ian Pritchett (Boo Seeka, Kim Churchill, Angus and Julia Stone), and Simon Dobson (Little May, STUPID BABY).
‘Milk In My Bowl’ is another shining example of the duo’s ability to push sonic boundaries, while simultaneously delivering on a cohesive sound that is their own. The track consistently maintains its groove-laden pace, before shifting into a slow building bridge that gradually melds the front half of the arrangement with the latter.
Front man Carlos Lara describes the creative process behind the track:
“’Milk In My Bowl’ was another great opportunity for us to experiment with our sound and give something different back to fans. Over the last twelve months, we’ve constantly been pushing the envelope sonically and it’s the most fun we’ve ever had writing and releasing music. The lyrical content matter follows on from ‘We Independent’, where we had removed ourselves from a toxic situation. This account further highlights the realisation that we’re so much better off, and in a way it’s us saying our peace and moving forward”.
After restrictions imposed by the Australian government, the band were forced to reschedule their East Coast capital city shows to mid-late September 2020, while their performance at Big Pineapple Music Festival has been moved to Saturday 21 November.
Since their mid-2013 inception, Bootleg Rascal have released a slew of singles, an EP and two albums, all warmly received by critics and fans around the world, with support from the likes of NME, The Line of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, Pilerats and Wonderland Magazine. Multiple tracks have been added to Spotify and Apple Music playlists, high rotation on triple j and they’ve performed on the station’s esteemed ‘Like a Version’ segment.
The band have continually traversed the globe playing multiple sold out headline shows in France, UK, Holland, Germany, New Zealand and Australia, and performed sold out shows in the USA. They’ve also regularly appeared on major Australian festivals including Falls Festival, The Big Pineapple Festival, Lost Paradise, Hills are Alive, Festival of the Sun and Party in the Paddock.
‘Milk In My Bowl’ is out Friday June 26

Glasgow’s own Kleur teams up with local lad Keary for the latest release on Jackie Knows Karate Records. ‘For You’ sees the two producers combine their unique sound to bring a dark minimal feel to the label. Pulsing synths and distorted drums create an atmospheric feel to the EPs original mix as it builds up to the vocal hook heard throughout the EP.
Following on from this is the ‘Dub Mix’ which introduces dark piano chords and long drones into the mix perfect for those late night parties in a rave cave.
Lotrax features on the EP contributing a huge remix which delivers summer vibes alongside a catchy bassline, dreamy pads and groovy drums.
Kyle Hawkins, Jackie Knows Karate Records Label Manager, said: “As soon as we heard the original we knew the lads were onto something special and we knew it would be a big release for the label. Then you add Lotrax’s take on the original and you’ve got a winning combination.”

Saturday July 4 2020, almost 20 years after the first edition of the succesful dance event Sensation, the renewed concept Beyond Sensation by event organization ID&T should have taken place in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Like almost all events this summer, Beyond Sensation can’t happen this year so it will be moved to July 3rd 2021. However, ID&T wouldn’t be ID&T if no creative alternative were devised to provide the fans with an unforgettable experience anyway. The ‘Monument of Light’ show will illuminate the Johan Cruijff ArenA and will be captured in a breathtaking livestream that can be viewed from all over the world.
“With this show, we pay tribute to everyone who has kept their spirits up during the lockdown and, above all, to encourage them to celebrate life in full glory again soon. After darkness, comes light. With this fact in mind, ‘Monument of Light’ was born. The show is a creative translation of Sensation, where artistic experience and entertainment have been at the forefront for decades”, says organizer Eric Keijer.
The show starts at 11PM CEST and can be viewed from all over the world via www.sensation.com. The spectacle flows seamlessly into a special 2-hour set by Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, which fits perfectly with Sensation’s story line.

The debut release from electronica-chill artist Nurosonic is shrouded in mystery. Titled “Her featuring Avanna)”, the alluring track is a reference to the Spike Jonze-directed cult film of the same name (starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson).
The film has been described this way: “A masterpiece of love, wit and the human condition, Her engages the mind as it warms the heart”. The same could be said of the Nurosonic track.
Nurosonic has chosen to keep their identity under wraps, with only a few details emerging. Nurosonic is many things that are reflected in the music made under that name – a classically trained musician, and devotee of AI culture, an aficionado of electronic music production and the holder of a PhD in Music Neuroscience.
A mad professor operating alone? A cross-disciplinary collective? The alter-ego of a notorious pop icon? None of the above? Does it really matter? Her is the debut release under the Nurosonic banner – it’s a hypnotic journey into obsession and devotion built around a haunting vocal performance by Avanna.
And who is Avanna? “Avanna is anyone you want her to be”, offers Nurosonic. The music of Nurosonic speaks for itself. The release of Her is the first in a series of intriguing releases planned to emerge from the lockdown months of 2020. “At once technological and transcendental, Her is a work of science and fiction and an emotional examination into the nature of love in the modern world.”
The Australian Independent Labels Association (AIR) is thrilled to present the inaugural Women in Music Mentor program thanks to support from the Australian Government.

New track, ‘Extraordinary Life’ follows the release of previous songs ‘Unready’, ‘Volcanic’, ‘Aeroplane Bathroom’, and ‘Sandwiches’. Throughout the song, Gordi exalts with bold sincerity: “I want to give you an extraordinary life.” Offsetting the isolation and anxiety prevalent in many songs across her new album, ‘Extraordinary Life’ affords the listener a moment of bliss and levity – a welcome moment in the current climate. Reflecting on the song, Sophie says:

Today, Melbourne punk/rock band Mild Manic release their new single Memories.
Produced by the band and Sam Johnson at Holes and Corners Studios (Luca Brasi, Camp Cope, The Bennies) in Melbourne, Memories is the first piece of new music from the band since their 2018 single Global Threat.
“This song was written about overcoming the feeling of hopelessness you feel when going through a time of loss. Grief is something everyone is subject to, and ‘Memories’ is about being able to go through the motions with the love and support of friends to help carry the burden. Though someone may be gone from this world, they still live within us, in our hearts and in our memories. To celebrate life in death. There is a story to tell for every one of your tears” vocalist / bassist Dave Boyes
Mild Manic, who formed in 2015, are brothers Chris & Sam Rees on guitars, Dave Boyes on bass and Jye Flynn on drums. The band have released 2 Eps and numerous singles, which saw them tour the nation several times over performing alongside acts Luca Brasi, Hockey Dad, Dear Seattle and Hands Like Houses.

“King Yib back with bars and all the vocal textures that’ve establishes him as a memorable voice in Australian hip-hop.” – Tommy Faith, triple j Unearthed
“Yibby’s energy and enthusiasm are innate – spitting bars with a confidence beyond his years without so much as breaking a sweat.” – FBi Radio
Teaming up with regular collaborator Andy Bull, YIBBY reveals the vintage-tinged visuals for current single ‘No Sweat’ which premiered on the I’M HIP HOP Youtube channel, illustrating the blossoming and quick breakdown of a friendship.
Once again the Ethiopian-born, South Sydney-raised rapper has teamed up with dynamic producing duo Clockwork Odyssey to create a funk riddled track full of swirling synths and a bouncing beat, as a bed for YIBBY’s signature animated flow. YIBBY explains the content saying “No Sweat is about not stressing while going through adversity or dealing with things and still celebrating the wins.”
Since its premiere on triple j’s Home & Hosed, ‘No Sweat’ has been added to Spotify’s Local Hype, Beats n’ Bars and The Drip and was included in The Guardian’s Best Music for May.
Forever a melting pot of genres, YIBBY’s music always comes accompanied with coming of age tales and food for thought bars. His debut single ‘Woah’ came in late 2018 signalling the start of a rapid fire first year for the now 20-year-old which consisted of the Lost In Translation EP and a hard-hitting team up with fellow up-and-comer Raj Mahal.
Quickly gaining recognition from fans and media, last year he came in at #14 on FBi Radio’s Most Played Artists of 2019. He also left his mark on triple j’s Bars of Steel and FBi Radio’s Independent Play series whilst garnering fans from Sniffers, Tone Deaf, Life Without Andy, Purple Sneakers and more. Single ‘Folk’, pulled from his debut EP, was added to spot rotation on triple j, as well as full adds on triple j Unearthed, FBi Radio, SYN Radio, 4ZZZ and EDGE Radio, and spins on Beats Radio 1.
On the live circuit he’s cut his teeth supporting Winston Surfshirt, Boo Seeka, Drapht, Arno Faraji, Milan Ring and Kuren as well as performing a show-stopping set at Bad Friday Festival.
