8.5/10 “The Glow isn’t just another album in the band’s discography. It sounds like a coming of age, an album that is limitless in its imagination and one that defies genre limitations..The Glow combines different musical styles that showcases the Australian trio at their very best.” – The Line Of Best Fit

4/5 “Every moment of ‘The Glow’ sees the band step up…It’s not just the music that’s on another level: lyrically, ‘The Glow’ sees DMA’S at their most vulnerable, most excitable and most inspiring…‘The Glow’ is a hyper-charged record of dance and decadence. A bold step forward that sees DMA’S coming into their own.” – NME

I OH YOU are so stoked to announce that DMA’S brilliant third studio album THE GLOW (released globally on Friday 10 July) has debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart, #4 on the UK and took out the #1 spot in Scotland. This huge accomplishment marks the highest chart positions to date for the band.

This fantastic result is a testament to the band’s unwavering vision to write an album that took their sound to a new level and to new ears, across the world. Recorded and mixed by multi-Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Price (The Killers, New Order, Madonna) at the historic Westlake Recording Studios in Hollywood, THE GLOW is a step up for the band in every sense. With two top #10 ARIA albums, 4 x ARIA-nominations, and multiple ARIA Platinum and ARIA Gold singles already under their belt, THE GLOW marks a leap forward for the band and establishes themselves as a household name both here and in the UK.

These outstanding chart positions come off the back of a phenomenal year for DMA’S, which saw the band play a sold-out show at London’s iconic 5,000 capacity O2 Academy Brixton back in March, which in a testament to the band’s ability to adapt to a new world and find fresh and exciting ways to engage with fans, they were able to share the record-breaking O2 Academy Brixton show via a digital stream on their Facebook and YouTube with approximately 50 thousand viewers tuning in. Watch ‘Silver (Live from O2 Academy Brixton)’ here.

DMA’S have garnered new fans from near and far recently, with their special isolation versions of ‘Lay Down’ and ‘The Glow’, their performance on the ANZAC Day special – Music From The Home Front where they covered the Crowded House classic ‘Better Be Home Soon’, taking part in the Victorian Government’s The State Of Music performing their hit single ‘The Glow’, gracing Australia’s television screens on Saturday 11th July with a DMA’S TV special on Channel 9, and creating a heart-warming fan video for their hugely loved song ‘Silver’ by compiling live footage shot and sent to them from their fans from around the globe.

Over the weekend, the band took part in the ABC’s new live music series The Sound (alongside the likes of Nick Cave, Hunters & Collectors and BENEE), where they performed their latest single ‘Criminals’.

To celebrate the release of THE GLOW, DMA’S announced an intimate run of stripped-back shows at Sydney’s Factory Theatre, which sold out in minutes. In reply to overwhelming fan requests to play in Brisbane, the Sydney trio made the decision to extend their ‘Unplugged & Intimate’ tour, and confirmed four concerts at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August, which as Sydney before them, sold out almost instantly.

These intimate shows, in line with updated regulations around live entertainment, will see the band play to limited capacity crowds, with the multiple shows giving more fans a chance to be some of the first in the world to hear their new material live for the very first time.

DMA’S are a true story of triumph, a band that continue to push the boundaries of their creative output, and the success of THE GLOW to date is a true testament to a band that are showing no sign of slowing down.

On July 24th, leading Madrid artist Danny Serrano is back with a second single from his forthcoming Craft album. Entitled The Future, it follows on from the first single in fine style.  This fantastic new album was created in Serrano's Kitchen, the artist's own recording studio and label. After having worked for big labels such as Desolat, Truesoul, Circus Recordings, Saved Records and more over many years, the album finds Danny switching up his sound and broadening his horizons with new depth. It shows he has grown in the studio and is not only pigeonholed as a tech house artist. Instead he is someone who can do real melody, work with vocals, bring warm grooves and take you on a trip on the dance floor.  Second single The Future is an atmospheric track with dark, loopy drums. The chattery claps drive it along and spectacular synths explode out of the mix to bring real energy and colour, This one is sure to get hands in the air and is another fine single as well as top teaser before the full album.  Third single Bimba will follow soon and ensure that this summer, the unique Danny Serrano sound is impossible to escape. https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/dannyserrano  https://soundcloud.com/dannyserrano https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=Danny%20Serrano

Ian Skelly - Jokerman OUT NOW From the album, Drifters Skyline, released Fri 31 July 2020 A plea for salvation sung through a sunny smile, Jokerman is the second, upbeat summer single to be released from Ian Skelly’s forthcoming album, Drifters Skyline. Promising to open the door to a bright world of Cali-influenced alt-folk, comic-strip country and fuzzy blues, the album now ‘waterfalls’ its way into the world one, digital track each day until to its full, digital and vinyl-only release on Fri 31 July 2020.   Working for only the second time as a solo artist, The Coral’s drummer and occasional co-conspirator in Serpent Power headed out to Berlin in 2019 with a tailwind of creativity guiding him. An easy-going, collaborative atmosphere in the company of producer and guitarist/friend, Paul McKinnell, with Paul Pilot on mixing and recording duties, helped twelve new songs to flow effortlessly to tape in just one, happy week in the German capital.   Calling on the Jokerman to provide help on a day of despair, the single reveals a fissure of vulnerability and reflection on an album otherwise written specifically for the purposes of joy and escape. Written during a period Skelly associates with personal loss, he determinedly set out to craft a breezy, sonic antidote to what he was going through. Hitting on the formula to leave painful realities at the door, songs like Jokerman and the album’s first single, Captain Caveman, offer ample escape through their airy abandon and blurred lyrical outlines. Skelly says: “To me, pouring your sad heart out on a song is self-indulgent. When I am feeling down, I just put on T-Rex really loud and escape. I couldn’t write any sad songs when I was working on ‘Drifters Skyline’, it just had to be upbeat. Friends and family really liked ‘Jokerman’ from the start, so it seemed a good vibe. Then, when we recorded it, the entire process turned out to be great fun. It felt exciting. What should have been work in the studio turned out to be a jolly.”   The release of Drifters Skyline accompanies more exclusive artwork from Skelly, who, as a prolific artist, has illustrated numerous of his own and The Coral’s album projects, including promotional videos, all featuring his darkly comic, gonzo collage work as well as photography and drawing. In line with the gradual release via digital and streaming sites, Skelly’s social media channels will premiere new artwork, animated by animator and film maker, Dom Foster, every day until the album is available in full.   A founder member of The Coral, releasing eight studio albums since their self-titled debut album in 2002, Skelly released his first solo album, Cut From A Star in 2012. Together with former Zutons guitarist, now a full-time member of The Coral, Paul Molloy, Skelly has released two, critically acclaimed albums as Serpent Power, including 2017’s Electric Looneyland. DAVID GUETTA & MORTEN TAKE THEIR FUTURE RAVE COLLABORATION TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH THE RELEASE OF THEIR ‘NEW RAVE’ EP

by the partae July 19, 2020
written by the partae

Since their first collaboration, David Guetta and MORTEN’s partnership has yielded a string of co-productions that have gained huge momentum within the electronic dance music scene and beyond. With more than 110 million combined streams so far, the pair now unveil their new four-track EP ‘New Rave’.

David Guetta and MORTEN’s innovative records reflect their vision for the future of electronic dance music and have been inspired by a desire to unite mainstage and underground sounds. Their project titled ‘Future Rave’ has swooped through the industry, receiving praise from DJs and fans alike. Track after track, the buzz around their releases just grows bigger and more exciting each time, and this energy has led to the new EP out today.

‘A year ago I started to make music with my friend Morten’, says David Guetta. ‘I felt like there was a choice between underground which was cool but maybe more adapted to clubs rather than festivals, or edm that was still killing the dancefloor but was sounding the same for the last 4 years and was not satisfying anymore. We wanted to make music that would be sexy, have the cool factor of techno, the energy of edm and why not the emotion of trance. We wanted to make quality dance music with zero compromises and give a lot of attention to finding new sonics. We wanted to make music people have never heard before. Almost one year later and many producers started to make music in the same style, our music is becoming a movement and DJs call it Future Rave.’

‘Together we have started a sound that has later become a “Movement”‘, says MORTEN. ‘We call it Future Rave! With each release the sound has evolved even further and now a year after we started, this EP feels like a natural next step. After months in the studio, I’m so excited to finally share it. David’s experience with songwriting and his way of writing melodies is very unique and something I learn from every day.’

Consisting of four new tracks “Kill Me Slow”, “Nothing”, “Bombardment”, and “Odyssey”, the EP continues their signature sound which is influenced by techno, is a little dark but with a huge sonic range. Their respected record collection includes “Never Be Alone feat Aloe Blacc”, “Make It To Heaven” with Raye, The tribute remix of Avicci’s “Heaven” and “Detroit 3 AM”.

In April, David Guetta launched ‘United At Home’, a charity live-stream event series which has since raised over $1.2 million USD for charities around the world in the wake of COVID-19. The two record-breaking shows in Miami and New York were collectively viewed over 50 million times.

MAYA JANE COLES – ‘WOULD YOU KILL (4 ME)?’ EP
OUT NOW

Following on from her dancefloor weapon ‘Run to You’ which dominated charts and playlists and featured the velvety vocals of Claudia Kane, Maya Jane Coles resumes a club focus with the three-track ‘Would You Kill (4 Me)?’ EP.

Led by the EP’s title track, the British-Japanese producer selectively draws from her trademark palette, uncompromising on the production detail and matched with ever-vibrant, sound system rattling house grooves.

‘Sweet Luv’ emphasizes why Maya Jane Coles’ signature has been one of the most influential in modern dance music, with warm vocal samples referencing back to many of her formative releases that made such an impact.

Radiating with dynamic melancholy, ‘Piano Magic’ proves that despite her never-ending exploration of genres and exciting collaborative experimentation, Coles has equally mastered restraint and the perfection in enduring consistency.

INNER CITY RELEASE THEIR FIRST ALBUM IN 30 YEARS, COLLABORATING WITH IDRIS ELBA ON THE TITLE TRACK.

by the partae July 19, 2020
written by the partae

The album opens with the powerful ‘We All Move Together’, featuring a monologue spoken by Idris Elba.

A title that means more now than ever, ‘We All Move Together’ represents the uplifting love and connection that music brings to Kevin Saunderson’s life, the Inner City group, and the rest of the world.

In their continuous quest to uplift people through the power of music, Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez Saunderson and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an delve into the new decade with the release of their first studio album together under a new formation, and the first released under Inner City for almost 30 years.

We All Move Together draws on Kevin Saunderson’s consistent drive to elevate, which has been present in him since he experienced the inspirational Paradise Garage in New York aged 17. A constant influence in his productions ever since, and a source which laid Inner City as a foundational group to lift spirits high.

The Inner City project fully relaunched in Spring 2019, with Kevin, Dantiez and Steffanie creating a major buzz across the globe. The trio treated both new and existing fans to fresh and exciting new music taken from We Move Together which proved to be the ultimate road test. The tour included headlining Kala Festival and shows at Glastonbury, Lost Village Festival, Electrico Festival, Moovin Festival, Three Mills Island, and Castlefield Bowl.

I Need Your Love, Save Me, and Living A Dream not only resonated with the fans during the live show, but also across the airwaves with Annie Mac, MistaJam, Danny Howard, Ana Matronic and Lauren Laverne all supporting the new wave of Inner City on their BBC shows.

After 18 months of studio sessions between touring, We Move Together is finally ready for full release. Kicking off strong with the eponymous opening track that features very special guest Idris Elba, speaking words of positive messages that continue to purvey through the rest of the album, which also includes guest vocals from Detroiter – ZebrA OctobrA.

MATHAME – ‘NEVER GIVE UP’ (ADRIATIQUE REMIX)
B1 RECORDINGS / MINISTRY OF SOUND

Italian brothers Mathame release the next remix for their latest single, ‘Never Give Up’. Originally released in March, ‘Never Give Up’ has received an array of industry support, including being awarded ‘The Essential New Tune’ accolade by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong. Arriving today via ‘B1 Recordings / Ministry Of Sound’, ‘Never Give Up’ (Adriatique Remix) is now available to stream and purchase.

As one of the most sought-after duos in techno, Adriatique’s close friendship and complementary skill set have been key to the development in creating the act who stand before us today. Their releases have come through leading labels such as ‘Diynamic’ and ‘Cityfox’ to name a few, alongside their own imprint, ‘Siamese Records’. Their talents were taken to new heights after the release of their debut album, ‘NUDE’ on Tale Of Us’ seminal ‘Afterlife’ label, which saw the Swiss-duo gain further international recognition. With this recognition came performances at some of the worlds most renowned clubs, including Panorama Bar – Berlin, Shelter – Amsterdam, Printworks – London, LuxFrágil – Lisbon and Spybar – Chicago as well debuting at 2019’s Coachella edition. Following the previously released remixes from Vril, Lost Frequencies and Diplo, Adriatique rework ‘Never Give Up’ into an orchestral sounding yet ambient production.

Over recent years, electronic duo Mathame have established themselves as one of underground music’s most promising rising acts. Released in March via ‘B1 Recordings / Ministry Of Sound’, ‘Never Give Up’ continues to receive an ever-growing stream of support, already fostered from industry leaders including BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong who awarded their earlier release on Tale Of Us’ ‘Afterlife’,‘For Every Forever’ their first ‘Essential New Tune’.

“Musically, ‘Never Give Up’ has many influences, from techno to cinematic soundtracks and sound design. We try to synthesise all our influences into one track that can be like a manifesto of our sound, dynamic, wider, handcrafted, dreaming, with a simple and strong message. A message to the earth, like a flag that calls everyone to not ever give up. The track arrives at the time of a global crisis where it feels like everything is out of our hands and we have lost control. Now more than ever, the planet earth and humanity need this message, every day and every night.” – Mathame

Forming in 2013, brothers Amedeo and Matteo Giovanelli have progressively become an integral part of the underground electronic scene, first releasing on Vaal’s ‘Bastaard’ label in 2015. Followed up with a further EP on Tiefschwarz’s revered ‘Souvenir’ in 2017, their activity arguably culminated at its peak in a release for Tale Of Us’ ‘Afterlife’ label in 2018, featuring tracks ‘Nothing Around Us’ and ‘Fade Into You’.

2019 proved to be a breakthrough year for the duo, with an international touring schedule spanning Stockholm, Abu Dhabi, Milan, Istanbul and more, highlighted by a performance for French video platform Cercle, filmed at the summit of Mexico City’s Reforma 180 Heliport. With the Cercle stream currently amassing over 2 million views, Mathame have also worked with fellow Italian duo and close friends, Tale Of Us. The last two years have seen Mathame become residents for their ‘Afterlife’ event series, performing at showcases from Mexico to Ibiza.

Bridging the gap between the underground and mainstream, Mathame have continued to showcase their prowess as producers, remixing for the Grammy-nominated live electronic act RÜFÜS DU SOL, along with providing an anthemic rework of MEDUZA’s ‘Lose Control’.

Continuing their unstoppable momentum across the new decade, Mathame recently launched their new multiplatform cinematic project, PHOENIX. The interdisciplinary brothers have innovated PHOENIX as an online stage and interactive space for both artists and music lovers. Using the latest 3D real-time technologies, PHOENIX has hundreds of different settings where DJ’s and musicians can perform in outlandish scenarios and backgrounds. The groundbreaking project took two months to develop and, in future, will also be a web community akin to the computer game and virtual universe, ‘Second Life’, where users can meet with their own avatar.

Mathame’s ‘Never Give Up’ (Adriatique Remix) is out now via ‘B1 Recordings / Ministry Of Sound’

Rome’s Promise Land have been among the most consistent and popular names in house music for some 15 years now. They’re back with a huge sunshine anthem in the form of ‘Singshower’, released on Oliver Heldens’ eclectic dancefloor imprint, Heldeep Records.

Proceedings kick off with a classic disco loop which sets the feel-good tone. A smooth female vocal scat-jazz refrain adds to the playful feel as layers of percussion build to intensify the house groove. An irresistible song lies at the heart of this track, developing its gusto amidst big snare roll builds and soaring string sections. The super catchy “baby, you’re bad bad bad bad news” hook will be playing on repeat in your head for days after one listen to this summer smash. Vocals come from Venezuelan talent Emy Perez, who has previously featured on tracks by the likes of Thomas Gold, Möwe, Moksi and Neptunica.

The track promises to follow in the footsteps of their hits from the last few years. Back in 2017, their ‘X-Press’ monster was the most played track during Miami Week, and topped the 1001tracklists.com chart for 4 months straight. Already receiving plays from Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Sam Feldt and Blasterjaxx, it’s well on its way to becoming another hit.

‘Singshower’ is out now on Heldeep Records!

Ytram releases first ever track ‘Make You Mine’ with Bleu Clair

by the partae July 18, 2020
written by the partae

Officially premiered during Martin Garrix’s radio show, ‘Make You Mine’, is the first Ytram release to see the light of day. Collaborating with one of the most exciting talents of the moment, Indonesian producer Bleu Clair, the track also features vocals from RA.

‘Make You Mine’ explores a tech house groove with a grand appeal on which RA’s vocals can shine fully. The result is a track that is easy on the ears and has a lot of instant hit potential.

Ytram debuted in 2017 at Tomorrowland where he played a special deep/tech house set on the STMPD RCRDS stage. Almost three years after this moment, the first release has finally seen the light of day.

Bleu Clair can be best described as a rising star on the scene. Releasing his STMPD RCRDS debut ‘Need U’ just two months ago, he’s now showing he has lots more up his sleeve. ‘Make You Mine’ is just one more example of why he is one to keep your eyes on.

SUBLIME DEBUT ALBUM PARADISE CLUB
IS OUT NOW VIA FARMER & THE OWL

Adelaide’s Paradise Club have celebrated the release of their long-awaited debut album today with their new single “The Seed”, as well as joining the Yours & Owls Festival 2021 line up.

Perfectly encapsulating the Paradise Club vibe, “The Seed” expertly weaves shimmering guitars with pulsating beats and rich synths that completely consumes the soul. Lyrically, the single is an introspective examination of a rough patch and coming through the other side with fond memories.

“I flew to Melbourne for a few days to finish off the album. We spent two and half days writing absolute shit,” recalls frontman Gere Fuss. “We knew this would be the first song on the record and wanted something memorable. A couple hours before driving back to the airport, we finally had it. The song talks about a rough patch I was in, going out every night, but then moves to explain that through all of that I was able to build friendships and earn experiences to write about and look back on with a smile.”

Crafted over three-and-a-half years, Paradise Club romantically deliberates themes of love, death, family and friends tempered with a blissful soundtrack that yearns for carefree summer days that bleed into endless nights on the dance floor.

Named one of the 10 Australian Picks for July by NME, on their debut, the publication said, “the Adelaide band blend warm, textural layers of guitars and synths with propulsive rhythms for an album that sways as much as it bops, soundtracking the intoxicating, heady feeling of nostalgia.” Additionally, Beat Mag stated, “the album’s equally as concerned with indie-rock songcraft as it is interweaving guitar melodies and textural atmospherics,” but Blunt Mag summed it up best, labelling Paradise Club as “shimmering, blissful angst”.

Blooming onto the Adelaide scene in 2017, Paradise Club instantly stood out as a DIY force – everything from writing to recording to producing the accompanying music videos, the band had it covered. They quickly forged a strong identity both sonically and aesthetically while honing their stagecraft supporting the likes of Ocean Alley, Trophy Eyes, Endless Heights and The Lemonheads and also opening up the Adelaide leg of Laneway Festival in 2018. The next stop for Paradise Club is Yours & Owls Festival in 2021.

EVANGELINE announces forthcoming EP, new single 'Euphoria' out now

Evangeline releases new dark-pop single ‘Euphoria’ Announces forthcoming EP i think about it way too much

by the partae July 18, 2020
written by the partae

“an intriguing addition to the dark pop scene… keep an eye on her” – Cool Accidents

“an overflow of lush sonics and moody elixir” – Life Without Andy

“she is one to watch… dark, mysterious and bold” – Purple Sneakers

Melbourne singer-songwriter Evangeline returns with her latest dark-pop offering ‘Euphoria’, the second single from her forthcoming EP i think about it way too much which is due for release later this year via her label Sad Boy Records.

Stream ‘Euphoria’ via YouTube

Equally enchanting and wistful, ‘Euphoria’ is about escaping the thoughts in our heads, even if not always in the healthiest way. It opens with a minimal yet hypnotic beat that allows Evangeline’s angelic voice to take centre-stage without distraction. The understated production allows space for intimacy as Evangeline bares her soul, ebbing and flowing between lightness and darkness “Are you making me better, or are you slowly killing me?”

A slow-creeping haze builds throughout each chorus, creating a sense of detachment from reality, “When my brain goes quiet, I can’t hear the words inside it… when I sink into my place and then I don’t fight it,” before twisting blissful, atmospheric sounds into distorted vocals to confuse feelings of peace with numbness and intoxication.

Dark and dramatic, i think about it way too much is a concept record that sees Evangeline narrate a weekend in the life of, chronicling the chemical and emotional highs and lows that take place. Over the five tracks, including previous single ‘bad parties’ ft. Julius, Evangeline honestly wrestles with feelings of social anxiety and not fitting in, yet at times also submits to breaking free and enjoying these moments. Her vulnerability shines as she highlights the duality of how these situations make her feel – emphasised through the weightlessness of her airy vocals, contrasted with scattered experimental production that adds a heaviness to these feelings and creates a warped sense of reality as the EP progresses.

Since making her musical debut in 2015 with singles ‘CHEMICVL’ and ‘My Kingdom’, Evangeline has gone on to amass 8 million cumulative streams across Spotify and YouTube. She signed an international publishing deal with Universal France ahead of the release of her first EP Atelophobia in 2017, which was released via her newly-founded label Sad Boy Records. In the time since, she has refined her craft by experimenting with new styles and techniques, making a name for herself as a sought-after collaborator having joined forces with the likes of Donatachi, LOVER and Dugong Jr. to name a few.

SKELETON COAST THE NEW ALBUM FROM THE LAWRENCE ARMS OUT NOW

SKELETON COAST THE NEW ALBUM FROM THE LAWRENCE ARMS OUT NOW

by the partae July 18, 2020
written by the partae

The Lawrence Arms’ seventh studio album, Skeleton Coast is out now. Recorded in Tornillo, TX, a border town of Mexico, at Sonic Ranch Studios with longtime producer Matt Allison, the album marks the band’s first release in six years.

LISTEN TO SKELETON COAST NOW

The album contains the elements of the band’s sound that fans have come to love for the past two decades but recontextualises them in a way that somehow sounds perfectly aligned with this strange time in our collective history. Although it was written and recorded before the Coronavirus upended the world, the band’s seventh studio album sounds eerily prescient as it imagines an apocalyptic future where coyotes croon and wolf packs roam free. “For a band who has been around as long as us, this is about as urgent of a record as we could make,” vocalist and bassist Brendan Kelly explains. “It may be kind of dark but it’s really about searching for light in the darkness and finding it, as small as those moments may seem. That’s sort of where we’re at: Collecting the scraps of things that could make for a bearable existence in dark times.”

Out on Friday 17th July

BUY/STREAM ‘OCHRE TUESDAY’ HERE

Berlin-based DJ and producer Budakid makes his Disco Halal debut with new single ‘Ochre Tuesday’, out on Friday 17th July.

The lead single from the EP of the same name, ‘Ochre Tuesday’ is a hypnotic house cut that combines retro grooves, chopped vocals and haunting melodies, delivering an effortlessly cinematic track that leaves a lasting impression.

As well as being a more uplifting and motivational follow-up to ‘Blue Monday’, ‘Ochre Tuesday’ is also a metaphor to the world and human beings to move on and not stand still. Designed by Budakid himself, the symbol in the artwork is an alternative design for the symbol of ‘Tuesday’ in astrology.

Influenced by the likes of Trentemoller, Massive Attack, Radiohead and Caribou, Budakid also known as Kevin Huizing is a self-taught producer and talented drummer who has curated his own trademark sound, whilst carving his reputation as a successful artist from a young age.

Heavily supported by an array of acclaimed artists such as Solomun, Sasha, Joris Voorn and Kolsch, Budakid’s 2019 single ‘A Molton Arrow’ garnered 2.5 million streams on Spotify, and more recently released single ‘Walkman’ which received heavy BBC Radio 1 support.

Budakid has gone onto release music under iconic labels Diynamic, Exploited, Last Night On Earth, All Day I Dream and Lost & Found, whilst performing at globally renowned festivals Tomorrowland, Sonar Festival, Fusion Festival, ADE and playing animated sets at clubs such as Watergate, Katerblau and Sissyphos, firmly cementing his position as a tastemaker artist in the scene.

A masterfully crafted retro house jam, ‘Ochre Tuesday’ sees Budakid make an instant impact on his Disco Halal debut.

MYLK release new single ‘Snooze’

by the partae July 18, 2020
written by the partae

“Melbourne band Mylk have been steadily making a name for themselves since their formation in 2017, and their latest offering ‘Snooze’ is a dreamy cementing of the fact that they’re not a band to ignore.”
MUSIC FEEDS

Since forming in late 2017, Mylk have released four singles – with all of them achieving positions within the coveted triple j Unearthed charts. Today they’re back with their latest offering ‘Snooze’ which was produced by Colin Wynne of Thirty Mill Studios.

Commenting on ‘Snooze’, the four piece says “This song is simply about continually pressing the snooze button on your alarm in the morning. We’ve all been there.”

‘Snooze’ sees Mylk broaden their sonic horizons with a melodic bass line that carries the song effortlessly, merging seamlessly with lead singer Nathaniel’s subtle and emotive vocals. The song echoes the style of classic bands such as The Cure, Pixies and Go-Betweens.

The buzz around this young band began after they started playing gigs around Melbourne and selling out shows in Canberra. In their shows, they delve into all spectrums of the alt-rock genre, from acoustic folk rock to punk, with all of their music focussing on having fun and letting listeners rest their mind.

Mylk are at heart, a fun- loving bunch of friends who kill your braincells, two at a time.

Praise for Mylk:

Not My Fault single “A chilled-out, breezy number that evokes recollections of Mac DeMarco’s effortless style, ‘Not My Fault’ is one of those tunes that you can’t help but fall in love with, as its infectious style and delivery prompt you to hit that repeat button like there’s no tomorrow.” TONE DEAF

Paired with strumming guitar and catchy vocals, this light-hearted larrikin-esque-ness is an unstoppable combo that keeps their music both fun and hyper-accessible, cornering a strong market with a captivating sound and a just as captivating image. PILERATS

With frontman Nathaniel Peacock’s incredibly rich and soulful voice front and centre, ‘Snooze’ is an anthem for those of us (ie. all of us) who refuse to accept the reality of our alarms going off. MUSIC FEEDS

Not My Fault single “A stomping, rollicking good time.”
Declan Byrne, triple j

I Want You single “The singer really lets loose with a full on howl towards the end of this track. It’ll surprise you given the song’s hitherto moody textures.
Dave Ruby Howe, triple j

Single: ‘Snooze’ is out now through Ditto Music.
