Skelly says: “To me, pouring your sad heart out on a song is self-indulgent. When I am feeling down, I just put on T-Rex really loud and escape. I couldn’t write any sad songs when I was working on ‘Drifters Skyline’, it just had to be upbeat. Friends and family really liked ‘Jokerman’ from the start, so it seemed a good vibe. Then, when we recorded it, the entire process turned out to be great fun. It felt exciting. What should have been work in the studio turned out to be a jolly.”
The release of Drifters Skyline accompanies more exclusive artwork from Skelly, who, as a prolific artist, has illustrated numerous of his own and The Coral’s album projects, including promotional videos, all featuring his darkly comic, gonzo collage work as well as photography and drawing. In line with the gradual release via digital and streaming sites, Skelly’s social media channels will premiere new artwork, animated by animator and film maker, Dom Foster, every day until the album is available in full.
A founder member of The Coral, releasing eight studio albums since their self-titled debut album in 2002, Skelly released his first solo album, Cut From A Star in 2012. Together with former Zutons guitarist, now a full-time member of The Coral, Paul Molloy, Skelly has released two, critically acclaimed albums as Serpent Power, including 2017’s Electric Looneyland.

SUBLIME DEBUT ALBUM PARADISE CLUB
IS OUT NOW VIA FARMER & THE OWL
Adelaide’s Paradise Club have celebrated the release of their long-awaited debut album today with their new single “The Seed”, as well as joining the Yours & Owls Festival 2021 line up.
Perfectly encapsulating the Paradise Club vibe, “The Seed” expertly weaves shimmering guitars with pulsating beats and rich synths that completely consumes the soul. Lyrically, the single is an introspective examination of a rough patch and coming through the other side with fond memories.
“I flew to Melbourne for a few days to finish off the album. We spent two and half days writing absolute shit,” recalls frontman Gere Fuss. “We knew this would be the first song on the record and wanted something memorable. A couple hours before driving back to the airport, we finally had it. The song talks about a rough patch I was in, going out every night, but then moves to explain that through all of that I was able to build friendships and earn experiences to write about and look back on with a smile.”

triple j Unearthed
The Lawrence Arms’ seventh studio album, Skeleton Coast is out now. Recorded in Tornillo, TX, a border town of Mexico, at Sonic Ranch Studios with longtime producer Matt Allison, the album marks the band’s first release in six years.
The album contains the elements of the band’s sound that fans have come to love for the past two decades but recontextualises them in a way that somehow sounds perfectly aligned with this strange time in our collective history. Although it was written and recorded before the Coronavirus upended the world, the band’s seventh studio album sounds eerily prescient as it imagines an apocalyptic future where coyotes croon and wolf packs roam free. “For a band who has been around as long as us, this is about as urgent of a record as we could make,” vocalist and bassist Brendan Kelly explains. “It may be kind of dark but it’s really about searching for light in the darkness and finding it, as small as those moments may seem. That’s sort of where we’re at: Collecting the scraps of things that could make for a bearable existence in dark times.”
Out on Friday 17th July
BUY/STREAM ‘OCHRE TUESDAY’ HERE
Berlin-based DJ and producer Budakid makes his Disco Halal debut with new single ‘Ochre Tuesday’, out on Friday 17th July.
The lead single from the EP of the same name, ‘Ochre Tuesday’ is a hypnotic house cut that combines retro grooves, chopped vocals and haunting melodies, delivering an effortlessly cinematic track that leaves a lasting impression.
As well as being a more uplifting and motivational follow-up to ‘Blue Monday’, ‘Ochre Tuesday’ is also a metaphor to the world and human beings to move on and not stand still. Designed by Budakid himself, the symbol in the artwork is an alternative design for the symbol of ‘Tuesday’ in astrology.
Influenced by the likes of Trentemoller, Massive Attack, Radiohead and Caribou, Budakid also known as Kevin Huizing is a self-taught producer and talented drummer who has curated his own trademark sound, whilst carving his reputation as a successful artist from a young age.
Heavily supported by an array of acclaimed artists such as Solomun, Sasha, Joris Voorn and Kolsch, Budakid’s 2019 single ‘A Molton Arrow’ garnered 2.5 million streams on Spotify, and more recently released single ‘Walkman’ which received heavy BBC Radio 1 support.
Budakid has gone onto release music under iconic labels Diynamic, Exploited, Last Night On Earth, All Day I Dream and Lost & Found, whilst performing at globally renowned festivals Tomorrowland, Sonar Festival, Fusion Festival, ADE and playing animated sets at clubs such as Watergate, Katerblau and Sissyphos, firmly cementing his position as a tastemaker artist in the scene.
A masterfully crafted retro house jam, ‘Ochre Tuesday’ sees Budakid make an instant impact on his Disco Halal debut.

“Melbourne band Mylk have been steadily making a name for themselves since their formation in 2017, and their latest offering ‘Snooze’ is a dreamy cementing of the fact that they’re not a band to ignore.”
MUSIC FEEDS
Since forming in late 2017, Mylk have released four singles – with all of them achieving positions within the coveted triple j Unearthed charts. Today they’re back with their latest offering ‘Snooze’ which was produced by Colin Wynne of Thirty Mill Studios.
Commenting on ‘Snooze’, the four piece says “This song is simply about continually pressing the snooze button on your alarm in the morning. We’ve all been there.”
‘Snooze’ sees Mylk broaden their sonic horizons with a melodic bass line that carries the song effortlessly, merging seamlessly with lead singer Nathaniel’s subtle and emotive vocals. The song echoes the style of classic bands such as The Cure, Pixies and Go-Betweens.
The buzz around this young band began after they started playing gigs around Melbourne and selling out shows in Canberra. In their shows, they delve into all spectrums of the alt-rock genre, from acoustic folk rock to punk, with all of their music focussing on having fun and letting listeners rest their mind.
Mylk are at heart, a fun- loving bunch of friends who kill your braincells, two at a time.
Praise for Mylk:
Not My Fault single “A chilled-out, breezy number that evokes recollections of Mac DeMarco’s effortless style, ‘Not My Fault’ is one of those tunes that you can’t help but fall in love with, as its infectious style and delivery prompt you to hit that repeat button like there’s no tomorrow.” TONE DEAF
Paired with strumming guitar and catchy vocals, this light-hearted larrikin-esque-ness is an unstoppable combo that keeps their music both fun and hyper-accessible, cornering a strong market with a captivating sound and a just as captivating image. PILERATS
With frontman Nathaniel Peacock’s incredibly rich and soulful voice front and centre, ‘Snooze’ is an anthem for those of us (ie. all of us) who refuse to accept the reality of our alarms going off. MUSIC FEEDS
