Gold Coast based artist Lemaire has teamed up with Queensland collective Namaste to bring us the heart-warming feel good track OneNotTwo. It follows on from his successful releases of 2020, Roll Call, Where’s Up and Calling To Say.

In a romantic example of art imitating life, ​OneNotTwo​ is an ideal collaboration between the exciting young Queensland-based artists. Chronicling the real-life tale of how Lemaire met his fiancé, the up-tempo, groove-infused song incorporates some hooky guitar work, neo-soul chords and an elegant drum pattern. Boasting a captivating vocal performance with memorable lyrics and several singalong worthy moments, ​OneNotTwo​ is proof that when you know, you know.

Unidentified duo Pushing Daizies makes their official debut with the future bass inspired track “Want It To End,” released on Dim Mak Records, a groovy and yet emotive vocal anthem that introduces their signature sound. The track’s accompanying lyric video features a simple and yet powerful illustration of two daisies in a storm, bringing the symbolic nature of the duo’s name full circle. Pushing Daizies is composed of two US producers who initially intended to just work together on a few collaborations; however, their workflow during studio sessions held so much promise that the project was born. It was soft-launched this year on January 08 with an official release of their remix of Apashe‘s “Distance” on Kannibalen Records, and now it’s time for the first official single.

“The Pushing Daizies project was almost 2 years in the making, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally roll it out. What began as a couple of collaborations ended up turning into a full project with over 20 unreleased originals. I think the fact that the intention was never to form a duo, and was purely organic, makes this even sweeter. Pushing Daizies is the pseudonym of two US-based dance music producers joining forces. The enigmatic duo makes groovy, bass-heavy, electronic dance music that creates an emotional roller coaster, pulling at the heartstrings of its listeners. The project, which initially began as multiple collaborations between the two artists, transpired as their synergy saw no end in sight. “Once we found our rhythm, we knew we had something special. It was bigger than just a few singles. I guess you could say that the project was an accident in the greatest way possible,” said one of the producers. The term “pushing daisies” refers to the flowers that grow over a burial plot when someone dies, which is symbolic of the cycles of life and death, light and dark. Said differently, when someone dies, life is created. We can’t wait to hear what’s next!

R3HAB once again crosses genres and cultures by joining forces with Miami rapper Smokepurpp and Russian TikTok star Rakhim for a multi-lingual single “Fendi,” originally a viral on TikTok, which positions itself as one of R3HAB’s most daring productions yet. Opening with a hard-hitting and rhythmic tempo, the track first ventures into the realm of hip-hop influences with rap lyrics and the title’s catchy vocal hook. Fans will recognize the subtle but confident shift to R3HAB‘s signature electronic bass style in the second verse as a slapping bassline takes over. Smokepurpp and Rakhim trade off vocal duties in both English and Rakhim‘s native Russian language, making “Fendi” full of surprises to keep listeners on their toes. The story behind the song started with a post on R3HAB’s Instagram account calling on Smokepurpp to team up for a rework. The response came quickly from the American rapper, who was more than happy to jump on board. If this new release is any indication of what 2021 has in store for R3HAB, we can’t wait to hear more!

Dutch/Moroccan DJ and producer Fadil El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB, has been trailblazing his way through dance music for the better part of the last decade. Rakhim Abramov is a young hip-hop performer who, in half a year of his musical career, has released seven tracks under the name Rakhim, two of which have become hits throughout Russia and the CIS. Also, success came from America and Europe through TikTok and the top charts on Spotify and Apple Music. Rakhim‘s work is different from all other artists, and this allows him to rapidly increase a new audience and win the hearts of listeners.

Omar Jeffery Pineiro, known professionally as Smokepurpp, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Originally a record producer, Pineiro later found success on the audio distribution platform Soundcloud, which resulted in a joint venture record deal with Alamo Records and Interscope Records. Next, Pineiro released his commercial debut single, “Audi.” The single soon became his biggest song with over 78 million plays on SoundCloud and 173 million streams on Spotify. It was followed by a release of his debut commercial mixtape Deadstar, including features from artists such as Chief Keef, Juicy J, and Travis Scott. The mixtape peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. In 2018 Smokepurpp released two singles from the then-forthcoming “Bless Yo Trap” mixtape called “123” and “Do Not Disturb“, the latter of which features Lil Yachty and Offset from Migos.

Starting 2021 with the same momentum carried throughout much of 2020, Gordi (aka Sophie Payten) today releases the Our Two Skins (Remixed) EP and announces additional shows for her forthcoming Australian tour throughout February and March.

A seven-track offering, the EP features beautifully re-worked tracks from 2020’s Our Two Skins by an impressive collection of Gordi’s friends and affiliates – Helado Negro, Ryan Hemsworth, Georgia Maq (Camp Cope), Loraine James, Lawrence English and Alex Somers.

Of the new release, Gordi shares: “I love hearing how the  same song sounds in someone else’s head. Some of my favourite artists have breathed new life into tracks from “Our Two Skins” from the corners of the globe. It’s a really special collection.”

Released in June last year, Our Two Skins chronicled an intense and impossible time for Payten, as she renegotiated who she was and how she fit into the world. The album was warmly embraced by critics and fans, and debuted into the Top 20 of the ARIA Albums Chart. Our Two Skins was also nominated for an ARIA Award and two J Awards – recognition of the depth, intricacy and beauty of the album. In addition to releasing her second record last year, Payten also balanced work as a doctor, donning the scrubs (and the PPC) to assist with under-staffed local hospitals in Melbourne during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She performed a debut, globally broadcast show at the Sydney Opera House (to an empty theatre!), launched her very own VR immersive album experience titled Buried City and even managed to sneak in some shows at year’s end for fans in NSW. Today, Micra release their magnetic new single ‘Sonata’, with the Sydney duo expertly creating a sonic and emotional tug of war in the dream-pop wonder.

The intriguing push and pull of ‘Sonata’ surfaces from the tension between the syncopated drum beat and the echo-laden guitars, reminiscent of genre forebearers such as Beach House or the Cocteau Twins. ‘Sonata’ begs for immediate replay, with the Ivi and Robbie’s signature multi-layered, swelling production and intriguing melodies coalescing together to create a soothing, dense slice of dream-pop. The track’s psychedelic video was made with an analogue video synthesizer.
