A member of Australian via LA label Burning Rose Records and regular fixture of Melbourne’s thriving electronic music community, Durman subverts traditional pop forms to deliver an introverted, brooding and purposeful sound, delicately complemented by gauzy vocals. Traversing her own thoughts with uncanny attention to detail, her visceral productions are reminiscent of Kelly Lee Owens’ reptiously meditative melodies, Smerz’s concentrated chaos and the subtle trance of Daniel Avery.
On her forthcoming Memories EP, Eartheater, aka NY-based Alexandra Drewchin, and Varg²™, Swedish producer Jonas Rönnberg, also offer their take on two tracks taking Durman’s music further into another dimension. As Purient her distinguishable brand is equal parts experimental, stylish and unpredictable, stay tuned for more in 2021.

As two of electronic music’s most current & established artists, Franky Rizardo and Joe Goddard deliver a melodic electronic ballad with a crunchy bass that progresses beautifully around a strong and emotive vocal.
Long established as an international touring artist as well as a name firmly engrained within his own country, promoted his LTF brand across global festivals such as Tomorrowland and had individual appearances at ANTS, elrow and more. Consistently aiming to do his own thing Franky has hosted shows on both Amsterdam’s SLAM! Radio station and London’s Rinse FM. A1. DTR PROJECT ‘NO LIMITS’ (DANNY KRIVIT EDIT)
B1. DTR PROJECT ‘NO LIMITS’ (VOCAL MIX)
Born out of an inspired studio session in 2018 between Danism, Train and DJ Rae, ‘No Limits’ evokes memories from the heyday of the soulful NYC sound. The production and, in particular, the sublime vocal delivery from DJ Rae makes this a stand out release. Already on heavy rotation in the soulful house scene, ‘No Limits’ has received solid support from Louie Vega, Todd Terry, Francois K, Terry Hunter, CJ Mackintosh, Mr V, Sandy Rivera, DJ Spen, Brutha Basil, Sy Sez, Richard Earnshaw and many more.
Fast forward to 2021 and, in partnership with SoSure Music, ‘No Limits’ benefits from the unquestionable expertise of Danny Krivit who lays down a signature re-edit of this soulful house gem. For those that know this is a rare thing indeed. Looping up DJ Rae’s vocals to expert effect Krivit amps up the anticipation for that sensuous, soulful house drop as twinkling keys reverberate from ear to ear. This is emotive house at it’s very best. On the vinyl release the new Danny Krivit edit is backed up with the original Vocal Mix on the B-side with the digital release focuses purely on the new rework from DK.
With this release Danism, Train and DJ Rae also launch their DTR project alias. With the continued success of ‘No Limits’ plus new material set to follow throughout the year on Launch Entertainment, this is the beginning of great things for this new all-star trio.

“Your Girl Pho has her own thing going on and it’s a damn good thing if you ask me” – Declan Byrne, triple j
“Welcome Your Girl Pho as she joins the upper echelon of Western Australian talent, and commences her journey to becoming a fully-fledged national name” – Pilerats
“Captivating until the last second” – LEFUTUREWAVE
“”I’m a new bitch in an old habitat” – that line is exhilarating and Your Girl Pho delivers the whole package with striding confidence.” – Dave Ruby Howe, triple j Unearthed
Today, Perth based vocalist/producer Your Girl Pho serves listeners a slice of perfect pop chaos, unveiling her latest single ‘Co Star’ alongside its accompanying music video, the first taste of her upcoming debut EP.
Co-produced with Matt Bartlem (Lastlings, Boo Seeka) who conjures the track’s dreamy atmosphere, ‘Co Star’ is a sophisticated pop anthem inspired by the hyper-personalised astrology app of the same name. Specifically the app’s user specific yet totally vague push notifications, which Phoebe received one day (during a mercury retrograde) prompting the hook of the song, “someone wants what you’ve got”.
“I wanted to release an upbeat, fun song capturing that sure and confident feeling of love,” Phoebe details, “the chorus is supposed to hit you with confidence to go up to your crush and tell it how it is!”
Right off the back of her 2020 triple j premiered single ‘Surrender’ and current nominations for ‘Best Live Electronic Act’, ‘Best Pop Act’ and ‘Most Popular Live Act’ at the West Australian Music Industry Awards, Your Girl Pho shows absolutely no signs of slowing down in 2021. She’ll be playing shows in Melbourne in March at Small Time and Colour.
BIOGRAPHY
Your Girl Pho is the vivacious on stage persona of Perth based vocalist/producer Phoebe Gunson. In a short time she racked up a slew of coveted support slots with the likes of Post Malone, The Avalanches, E^ST, Kllo, Alice Ivy & spots on acclaimed festivals Groovin’ The Moo, Falls Festival, Laneway, Listen Out, FOMO, Festival Vaiven (Mexico), Music Matters (Singapore), & in 2019 performed her first North American shows when she appeared on the prestigious Canadian Music Week lineup.
The power, sass and closeness of Pho’s voice is bigger than the limitations of genre, and in 2019 Acid Stag acknowledged her ability to experiment with her sound, referring to her single ‘Don’t Wanna’ as an “extremely impressive cross-genre offering that will leave you gobsmacked.” The crown jewel in her fizzing, elasticated blend of genres, Pho’s “soulful vocals” (NYLON) have enjoyed airplay with triple j, Beats 1, FBi Radio, RTRFM, 4ZZZ and more – via her own work as well as collaborations with electronic producers Palais, Tayrell and Ukiyo.
Often backed by her 4-piece band, consisting of drums & two saxophones, Pho’s warm, dynamic vocals and playful attitude certainly command the room. Acknowledgement of her enthralling live show was received in 2019 when she won the West Australian Music award for ‘Best Live Electronic Act’. Following on from a huge year in 2019 which included acclaimed releases ‘Five-Thirty PM’ and ‘Don’t Wanna’, which sat at #1 in the AMRAP metro download charts nationally, it’s no surprise she was snapped up by Untitled Group’s tastemaker label Daily Nightly in June of 2020.
The beginning of 2021 will see Pho ready her debut EP whilst continuing to perform shows in her home state of Western Australia.

When Ameli and Paul’s paths crossed in 2016, they immediately felt the urge to fuse their approaches of making music – the succinct productions of Paul, with Ameli’s inherent songlike musicality and sentimental voice. Constantly evolving their live performance over the last few years, the duo stands for a stirring electronic sound that ranges from cinematic excursions to pop-like song structures.
Synthesizers, field recordings, vocals and guitars join forces across their musical playground as the pair creates thrilling dance tunes to dive into and get lost in. Playing live in renowned clubs and festivals, Ameli Paul are increasingly known for casting a spell on their audience. It’s this unique, multifaceted sound that is effortlessly melting genre boundaries and listeners’ hearts around the world.
Now Ameli Paul conjures up a full-spectrum EP that showcases their distinct musical variety, with the brand new three-part package Beyond Reason on MEIOSIS. We had a chance to sit down with the guys from their home city of Cologne to find out more.
Hi guys, great to have you with us for the first time. How are you both doing?
Nice to meet you! We are doing great, hope you too!
Where are you each based at the moment and how has the past twelve months been?
Paul: We are both based in Cologne, Germany. The last twelve months have been quite a rollercoaster. First I was psyched to spend more time in the studio, then I missed touring and meeting new people a lot. But at the end I think we made the best out of it and created a lot of stuff that will see the light of day soon.
Your latest EP ‘Beyond Reason’ has just dropped on MEIOSIS. What are the main influences and creative inspirations behind this record?
Ameli: First of all, our ups and downs of the last year have been the main source of inspiration. So it’s a mixture of melancholia and hope, regression and now-more-than-ever. Besides that, in these times we didn’t think so much about producing music for the dancefloor and felt more freedom in our creative process.
How did the remix from Aera come about?
Paul: We love Aera’s sound for quite some time, for instance his track ‘Terra’ he did with TERR or ‘Running hot’ are amazing. When he joined the same agency the idea occurred to have him on the EP. The remix is a real banger!
When did you two start making records together?
Paul: It was in 2016 that we met for the first time at a festival and arranged a session in the studio which turned into a four hours jam, two months later we uploaded our first track on Soundcloud.
Do you have similar approaches to the way you produce music?
Ameli: We have quite similar taste in music, but our approaches are totally different. That’s maybe one reason why we feel inspired when playing together. I just love jamming together with synthesizers, effects and my voice in an intuitive way. Paul can sit for hours dealing with Ableton, creating beats. We constantly find new ways to fuse our different ways of creating music.
Can you talk to us about your production set up? What instruments and bits of kits were used in the creation of the new release?
Ameli: I used the Prophet Rev2 for chords and melodic elements. My vocals go through a Line6 Delay, DD3 and a Polara Reverb. Paul operates Ableton Live, a Model D, there is a tiny bit of guitar in Beyond Reason and both tracks have pieces of his field-recordings for beat elements and atmo.
How do you spend your time when you’re not making music?
Paul: Besides music, I am working as a psychologist. Since quite some time I have been interested in connecting these two things.
Ameli: At the moment I spend a lot of time hanging out with my flatmates and cooking delicious food, for example with our new pasta machine.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
We very much enjoy listening to Men I Trust and Lous and the Yakuza at the moment.
Once the world can dance together again, where are you most excited to play?
Ameli: Oh I can’t wait to play in little sweaty clubs, people dancing full of joy. But I am also super eager to play on an open air festival stage with great lights.
Paul: I couldn’t agree more!
Title: Ringtone
Label: MDLBEAST Records
R3HAB teams up with Polish startup producers Fafaq and DNF for a very special, booty-shaking house track – “Ringtone,” which debuts as the first release ever on Saudi label MDLBEAST Records. The trio of talented producers pulls out the stops for the new single, which features a trifecta of dirty basslines, rhythmic kick drums, and a catchy vocal hook to remind all electronic fans that sometimes, you just have to put your phone away and dance. In addition to being MDLBEAST Records‘ premier single release, “Ringtone” will be featured among the label’s carefully curated album showcasing a star-studded roster of global talent, titled “Soundstorm Volume 1.” The name is a nod to the MDLBEAST‘s game changing festival, Soundstorm, which held its first edition in 2019 with over 80 acts, such as David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Tiësto, Afrojack, and R3HAB himself, which gathered over 400K attendees. With “Ringtone” R3HAB helps celebrate his own heritage and expose the talent in the region by partnering with MDLBEAST, burgeoning a new era of discovery for a region full of untapped potential.
“I’ve been working on this record for so long, and I’m so happy it’s finally seeing daylight. ‘Ringtone‘ has all the pieces to be an actual banger with its compelling melody, bassline, and modern tech influences, which combine to create an escape into a virtual reality. I’m honored that it is being used to announce the launch of MDLBEAST Records and their debut album, which has features from top tier artists lined up. I can’t wait to play ‘Ringtone‘ in front of big crowds, but until then, I hope it inspires you to forget your worries, get up, and dance.” – R3HAB
“MDLBEAST is a fast-evolving and influential brand, so it makes perfect sense to launch a brand new label to complement ongoing festival and event activities. It marks another milestone on the journey that allows a further cultural exchange between local Middle Eastern artists, global superstars, and audiences around the world. We are especially proud that good friend and collaborator R3HAB will be the first artist to officially launch his single ‘Ringtone‘ on MDLBEAST Records. This record is an electrifying cut that sets a fantastic tone for the label going forward.” – Talal Albahiti, Deputy CEO & COO of MDLBEAST
Dutch/Moroccan DJ and producer Fadil El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB, has been trailblazing his way through dance music for the better part of the last decade. From his breakthrough hit remix of Afrojack, Pitbull and Ne-Yo‘s “Give Me Everything” to his dance anthems, such as “All Around The World (La La La)” and “Lullaby,” which have collectively amassed over 600M streams, to his collaborations with the likes of ZAYN, Andy Grammer, Sofia Carson, Timmy Trumpet and more, R3HAB has proven to be one of the most talented and forward-thinking artists in the game. He partnered with Spotify and GATTÜSO to create the first-ever official “mint” single release. In 2016 he founded his label CYB3RPVNK, which passed one billion streams on its catalog within the first two years since its inception. R3HAB himself continues to evolve and diversify his sound by working with a variety of artists around the globe, experimenting with everything from hip-hop to pop through his collaborations. With his combination of innate artistry and innovative attitude, in 2021 R3HAB is continuing his journey among electronic music’s elite.
Title: Pum Pum
Label: Skink
Dutch duo Showtek returns to their signature sound and teams up with American producer Sevenn for their new single “Pum Pum,” a party-ready house bomb that fuses both artists’ unique musical styles. Opening with a driving, bouncy bassline, the track amps it up with a chopped-up vocal drop that will make your feet want to move. With most of the fans currently being under lockdown, Showtek and Sevenn present their listeners “Pum Pum” to satisfy their festival and club cravings. The new release follows Showtek‘s “Someone Like Me” on Universal Music, “Show Some Love” with sonofsteve, released on Skink, and Sevenn‘s first release of 2021 “Sex on Fire.” Both Showtek and Sevenn have been hard at work in the studio during the pandemic, so keep an eye out for more new music from each of these talented artists coming soon!
“The original idea for ‘Pum Pum‘ was created on our Stereosonic tour in Australia, during a studio session in Melbourne, together with singer/songwriter Sonny Wilson and GC. We have worked on a few ideas for a while, but eventually, it all came together when we collaborated with Sevenn. You can really hear the mixture between our music style and the style of Sevenn. We are very happy how this song came together and are excited about its release. The gimmick of the song, the chopped-up vocal drop, is ideal for the clubs and festivals and will satisfy our fans who can’t wait to go out and party with us again.” – Showtek.
“With lockdown in full throttle, I have been non-stop in studios recording and producing new exciting sounds, expanding musical horizons, and challenging the musical world as we know it. 2021’s second release “Pum Pum” with the legends Showtek has proven to be one of the most exciting new releases for me.” – Sevenn.
Brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen – better known together as Showtek – have made a name for themselves in the international dance scene with their high-energy, beat-driven style that has produced many a festival anthem. Their initial success in the hardstyle realm with tracks like “FTS” made them a household name, and they have continued to develop and evolve their style into the dynamic, genre-crossing sound we know and love today. Their hits such as “Believer” with Major Lazer (which is certified Gold), “Booyah” or “Bad” with David Guetta, their single “We Like To Party,” and their cover of Moby‘s “Natural Blues” have become dance classics heard around the world. The brothers lead their label Skink, which has releases from the likes of Henry Fong, Gammer, Sidney Samson, MAKJ, and more. Showtek has proven again that they are nowhere near being finished their musical journey, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
Kevin Brauer has exploded into the international electronic music stage as Sevenn. In his repertory he has four global hits: “Colors Of The Rainbow” produced in collaboration with Kathy, and successful releases such as “BYOB” and “The Wall,” produced with Alok, which reached over 50 million streams. Sevenn‘s massive collaboration with Tïesto “BOOM” debuted on Ultra Music Festival Miami in 2017. The single’s 2018’s version with Gucci Mane on the vocals had peaked #14 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic charts amassing over 120 million streams on Spotify. Sevenn played at some of the world’s most celebrated festivals, such as Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, and Creamfields.
Title: KTM
Label: Ultra Records
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKcWKTnCOrU&feature=emb_title
Carnage is taking the house scene by storm with the debut of his new house alias GORDO and new track “KTM,” out now on Ultra Records. “KTM” has spearheaded the launch of the GORDO project by expanding Carnage‘s expansive body of work into house music. With numerous sold-out GORDO shows already under his belt, including the iconic Club Space in Miami and 2021’s Super Bowl Weekend in Tampa, GORDO has paved the way to being the most buzzed-about house DJs of 2021. “KTM” consisting of groovy bassline and catchy vocals, has been in the works for over 3 years while gaining work-in-progress support from some of the world’s top DJs, including Sebastian Ingrosso, FISHER, Diplo, and Joseph Capriati.
“There is no question that ‘KTM‘ is the one track that defines exactly who I am as an artist in this exact moment in time. This song came together after years of self discovery through music and being open minded to new ways of life and inspirations. This is the beginning of the new me.” – Diamante Blackmon/Carnage/GORDO
Carnage has made a name through breaking the rules and staying true to himself. The Hawaii-based artist established himself as the reigning champion of hard bass and trap music with early hits, later being one of the first artists to transition electronic music into hip-hop, rap styles, and now house music. Before launching his label Heavyweight Records in 2017, Carnage put out hit after hit such as “I Like Tuh” with ilovemakonnen, “Bricks” with Migos, “Down for Me” and “Guala” with G-Eazy, “Homie” with Meek Mill and Yung Thug, “Learn How to Watch” with Mac Miller and MadeInTYO and “iShyne” with Lil Pump. After taking a break from music and touring in 2018 to focus on his mental health, Carnage dove right back into it with his hits “Letting People Go,” featuring Prinze George, and “Wait For Me” with G-Eazy and Wiz Khalifa. In partnership with the RAICES foundation, the music video for “Letting People Go” raised awareness for immigrants at the US / Mexico border and retraced Carnage‘s family’s voyage into America, as covered by TIME and dozens of other outlets.
Where did ‘I Don’t Cry’ first start for you – how does the song resonate with you now?
The first part i wrote was the opening guitar line. Usually I fall out of love with stuff i’ve written shortly after releasing it, but this track has stayed in a pretty positive light with me which is unusual.
Your sound is super intricate and developed; can you remember your early sonic influences and do you think those influences have stayed the same now?
I was really into a weird mixture of Neil Young and hip hop as a kid and still am. I think you can see those influences in my song structures and drum sounds.
Who is inspiring you now (think of this as a bit of a recommendation question for readers)?
Dan Auerbach’s ‘Waiting on A Song’ and Lewis Coleman’s ‘Method of Places’
Can you tell us a bit about where you recorded ‘I Don’t Cry’ and who you worked with?
I Don’t Cry was recorded entirely by myself in three different bedrooms I have lived in over the last 12 months, one of which was a shed in Brunswick. The only other hands and ears to touch it were those of Mastering Engineer George Georgiadis @ Little Wing Sound
Were there any particular highlights of the creation process for you?
I didn’t plan on having any drums in the bridge but on the day I recorded the drums I kind stumbled upon a drum part while i was setting up the kit and fell in love with it. It the drums you now hear in the bridge!
The pandemic hit a lot of artists, and hit them differently – how has lockdown affected the way you approach music?
Lockdown hasn’t so much changed the way i approach music, but it definitely threw out most of my plans for 2020. I moved to Melbourne in hopes of finding band members so I could play live, but instead we were told not to leave our homes or socialise for 10 months
Do you think you work better – as in songwriting – alone or with others?
I find myself making quicker decisions when im working with others. Instead of debating with yourself for sometimes months, you can just ask for their opinion. I feel more confident when writing with other artists.
What are you looking forward to the most about music – yours and others – moving forward into 2021?
Every year Australian music is getting stronger and stronger and i can’t wait for Australian artists to receive more of the recognition they deserve. Australian artists are definitely making the best music in the world right now.
‘I Don’t Cry’ is out now.

For years Yeek preferred to work alone. Across two albums and two EPs, the L.A.-based singer-songwriter handled producing, recording, mixing, and mastering by himself. Because his songs are personal and resistant to genre classification, this method suited him. The DIY approach made sense for his evocative, guitar-driven portraits of youthful wandering and wondering. Singing about sitting alone in his room on ‘Only in the West‘, bummed because he has to board the bus while his drug-dealer friends are out driving cars — quintessential solo dolo music.
But not now. This year Yeek presents Valencia, his most emotionally lush and polished work to date, and his most collaborative too. Featuring production from his cousin, Kevin Halasan, Valencia is indebted to the vitality of family, close friends, and new romance. After strengthening his voice on tour and with a vocal coach, Yeek’s performances on Valencia are confident and vulnerable, shaded heavily by the R&B records he heard growing up during family karaoke. “R&B music is a deeply-rooted part of Filipino-American culture,” he says.
Born in New Jersey, Yeek spent his first decade living in a large Filipino community. Then he moved to South Florida, where he wasn’t just the new kid in town but one of the only Asian people outside his family. Bonding with kids who wanted to make music, he found a place for himself by joining punk and hardcore bands, and rapping.
All this music touched his own, making for a sound that is totally contemporary and genre agnostic, but still grounded in what can be done in a bedroom with a microphone and some instruments. Though Yeek produced nearly all of Valencia, its ten songs are powered by community. “Whole gang gotta eat,” he sings on the title track, and he means it. After coming off his first headlining tour in Europe in 2019, he decided to recommit to working with the people closest to him. “My priority is putting on the people I’ve grown up with,” Yeek says. “I feel that better art comes from working with family and friends. Otherwise, it’s making art via email.”
Valencia’s first track is ‘Lumbago‘, a mellow ode to family via memories of the back pain Yeek experienced as a young boy. His mom, his brothers, his cousin – they’re all embedded in the lyrics, sung over a slow bass riff, methodical drums, and a dreamy ever-present organ. The flipside of working with your loved ones is an increased sense of pressure and responsibility, feelings Yeek explores on ‘Overthinking‘. A propulsive, almost nervous bass line plays under his voice as he captures that sensation of watching your people laugh and have fun while you’re on the outside looking in, stuck in your head, running down your anxieties.
‘3000 Miles (Baby Baby)‘ announces the album’s other big driving force: new love. More than any of Yeek’s other projects, Valencia is an R&B record – he’s really singing this time around. There’s no genre better equipped to channel the energy of a new relationship in all its complexity, from the lusty highs to the confusing late-night lows. Buoyant with anticipation, ‘3000 Miles‘ mimics the singular ache of a long-distance relationship, when all you want to do is race to the airport and get on a flight in order to touch that person you can’t stop thinking about. “How’d you feel if I came through late at night, 3000 miles?” he asks on the chorus, over the biggest drums on the album. It’s the embodiment of yearning.
Valencia will be accompanied by a short film Yeek has made for the project. Shot in a home in southern California, it tells the story of a young boy (played by Yeek’s cousin) whose routine is controlled entirely by the sophisticated technology built into the house. What he wears, what he eats—every detail is accounted for and he isn’t given a choice. Until he decides to push back and forge his own path. It’s a reflection of Yeek’s own relationship to life expectations and striking the right balance between independence and collaboration. With its themes of relationship woes and keeping family close, Valencia is a deep, ambitious body of work that, along with its short film, invites serious engagement to explore and unpack. It cements Yeek as a generational talent with something to say, a leader who isn’t afraid of his vulnerabilities.

“Halfway through 2019, having just finished our touring cycle for Shadowboxer, we came to Sydney and settled back into some sort of normal routine. We began sketches for the next batch of music, sending ideas back and forth, searching for a common thread. Eventually we decided to get outta the city and head down to the south coast of Sydney for a writing trip. It was there we wrote the first iteration of MORE.
“We had set up the living room of an Airbnb and played music together from morning till night. MORE arrived on the final day and began as a concept about a character completely delusional with their desire for more. We started playing around in new time signatures trying to figure out where it fit best, eventually landing on 5/4 which has this feeling of never really resolving and always feeling tense. We left the cabin with the music and later that week went into the studio to write the melody. I spent the summer of 2019/20, refining and jotting down provocative phrases that linked to the topic, as I did I began to connect deeper with this feeling, resonating with this desire in me for more, competing with others, and repeating the cycle of buying useless shit to make me happy. It was such a fun song to write, collecting modern day problems and putting them into the song. It’s part tongue-in-cheek but was a real awakening in seeing myself in that character.
“Over 2020 we continued to build on all the other sketches written in that cabin collaborating with Jon Gilmore over email. Fortunately we had a lot of experience writing via the internet and were able to finish the bulk of the music whilst the world remained in lock down. MORE set the theme of the record to come, learning to be okay with what we have and finding meaning in the monotony.”
Mansionair released their debut album Shadowboxer in March 2019. A triple j feature album, Shadowboxer was written and self-produced by the band, the culmination of a journey that started with a viral hit single and led to high profile collaborations, including a Grammy-nomination for their single with Odesza in ‘Line of Sight’, gold ARIA-accredited tracks in ‘Easier’ and ‘Astronaut (Something About Your Love)’, Billboard charting singles and over 220 million streams across DSPs.
Their most recent, stand-alone single ‘Guillotine’ – a collaboration with US artist NoMBe – was released at the tail end of 2020 and picked up spins from triple j locally along with Alt Nation and SiriusXM in the US. Added to an impressive array of playlists across both Apple Music and Spotify, it showed off a dynamic new side to the band.
‘MORE’ continues that trajectory and hints at further exciting things to come.
