ABOUT THE ARTISTS

CHEAP TRICK
With over 5,000 performances spanning four decades, 20 million records sold worldwide, and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cheap Trick are undoubtedly one of the most influential classic rock groups of the past 50 years.

The band was formed in 1974 and while it has evolved throughout the years, Cheap Trick has continued to reach mainstream and critical success. Hits such as “I Want You To Want Me,” “Dream Police,” and “Surrender” have cemented the group as one of America’s top rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time.

In early 2021, Cheap Trick released their 20th studio album, In Another World to rave reviews!

**********

BUSH
BUSH have been a mainstay on Australian radios since the release of their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994. The album was an instant smash spending 43 weeks in the Australian Top 50, peaking at #5. Glycerine, Everything Zen and Comedown are in the DNA of Aussie rock fans and are played daily on the airwaves to this day.

While the 90’s belonged to BUSH, they were on hiatus between 2001 and 2011 when they returned with The Sea Of Memories featuring The Sound Of Winter . In 2019, BUSH came roaring back with the track Bullet Holes which is featured as the end title on the soundtrack to the Hollywood blockbuster John Wick 3 Parabellum.

**********

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
One of the biggest rock acts of the 1990’s with over 50 million albums sold, Stone Temple Pilots broke out of the scene they helped to define into bonafide superstars. From their breakout debut album, Core, with legendary hits, Sex Type Thing, Creep, and Plush to Purple’s soaring Interstate Love Song and Big Empty and the late 90’s smash singles Big Bang Baby and Sour Girl, STP songs are the soundtrack of a generation.

Stone Temple Pilots are reborn and writing the next chapter of their storied career, with their seventh studio album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), their first with new lead singer, Jeff Gutt.

**********

BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB
The ultimate road dogs, BRMC harness pure garage punk energy and mix in rolling riffs and dirge-laden rhythms to shake you to the core and make you want a cigarette afterwards.
Their self titled debut album turned 20 this year and for the past two decades through 9 studio albums, BRMC have been at forefront of the psych-indie rock resurgence.

Tracks like the anthemic Whatever Happened To My Rock N Roll, the latter day Beatlesque-like Spread Your Love and the hypnotic Beat The Devil’s Tattoo define a band that was made for the stage.

written by the partae

GROHL, HAWKINS, MENDEL, SHIFLETT, SMEAR & JAFFEE BRING ROCK & ROLL BACK DOWN UNDER WITH FIRST FULL CAPACITY STADIUM SHOW BY ANY INTERNATIONAL ARTIST IN AUSTRALIA SINCE 2020

AN ALWAYS LIVE EVENT.
TICKETS ON SALE THIS FRIDAY, 12PM AEDT

Frontier Touring is thrilled to announce Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers Foo Fighters will return to Australia next month, with a history-making performance at Geelong’s (VIC) GMHBA Stadium on Friday 4 March.

Tickets go on sale Friday 25 February (12pm AEDT) via frontiertouring.com/foofighters.

The 12-time GRAMMY winning band will arrive in Australia next week, with this exclusive, one-off concert – Foo Fighters’ first performance down under since 2018. This will be the first time a full-capacity stadium show by any international music artist has taken place in Australia since the COVID pandemic first hit back in March 2020.

After two years of live music virtually being on hold, and with our international borders now re-open for business, Foo Fighters will arrive in Victoria next week to celebrate the State’s extraordinary reputation as the live music capital of Australia. Foo Fighters’ record sales in Australia stand in excess of 1.8 million, with eight #1 albums – the most #1 debuts in any territory for the band, who’ve visited our shores 12 times so far throughout their 27-year career.

News of Foo Fighters’ upcoming Geelong concert is announced today in partnership with the Victorian Government’s contemporary live music major event ALWAYS LIVE – a brand new, State-wide celebration of contemporary live music taking place later this year. Bringing together icons of Australia’s music scene with emerging local talent and some of the best global acts on the planet, the ALWAYS LIVE program will feature shows of all scales and styles, created and curated for Victoria’s special venues, places and stages. Supported by the Victorian Government, the impetus for ALWAYS LIVE was initially conceived by legendary former Mushroom Group Chairman Michael Gudinski.

Foo Fighter’s latest and tenth studio album, Medicine At Midnight, was released in February 2021 on Roswell Records/RCA Records/Sony Music, debuting at #1 in Australia and featuring fan-favourite tracks that have already become staples of the FF live set such as ‘Shame Shame’, ‘No Son Of Mine’, and the album’s title track.

This week the band celebrate the theatrical release of their cinematic horror comedy film STUDIO 666, which sees Dave Grohl grappling with supernatural forces as the band attempt to record their much-anticipated 10th album – head HERE to buy tix, with the film in cinemas for one week only! Back in October 2021, Grohl also hit book bestseller lists across the globe with The Storyteller – a fascinating collection of his life memories and stories.

Foo Fighters will be joined in Geelong by very special guests Amyl and The Sniffers – whose 2021 album Comfort to Me debuted at #2 in Australia, #21 in the UK, and #18 in the US, and was BBC6’s Album of the Day – as well as Melbourne punk royalty The Meanies, who’ve been kicking out the jams for three decades now, most recently heard on 2020’s Desperate Measures.

Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of history when the Foo Fighters bring their incredible rock’n’roll marathon live experience back to Victoria at long last. Tickets are on sale this Friday 12pm, and are expected to sell out quickly… act fast!

Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee.

“The Tuareg guitarist and his bandmates deliver the fullest picture of his gifts yet.”
–
 Pitchfork (Best New Music)

“This one is essential… It’s musically dense, wildly psychedelic and politically sharp, with Moctar singing in his native tongue across the record to make for the year’s most quintessential guitar albums.” – Mixdown

“Moctar’s guitar is a tangled, twisted, blazing beam of light cutting across a black sky.”
–
Rolling Stone

“Searing and soulful” – CLASH

“This is a group that is deeply zoned into one another’s nervous systems, grooving hard, moving as one.” – Aquarium Drunkard

“Afrique Victime, Moctar’s first album for Matador, seems poised to attract his largest audience yet” – Bandcamp

“scarcely has a Fender Stratocaster sounded more alive than in his hands… a propulsive, psychedelic sound that is at once delivered with the cathartic oomph of celebration and the urgent cadence of protest” – Guitar World

“Transcendent” – MOJO ★★★★

“Mesmerizing meld of Tuareg folk tradition and modern rock” – Uncut (9/10)

“Mdou Moctar and his band are the true sound of youth resistance” – Line Of Best Fit (8/10)

“The consensus that is slowly forming is that he is not just one of the leading exponents of Sahel (Sub-Saharan) guitar music, but one of the finest and certainly most expressive, guitarists in the world” – MusicRadar

This Friday, Matador will release a deluxe digital edition of Mdou Moctar’s Afrique Victime, which expands the album with nine previously unreleased songs, including the studio outtake, ‘Nakanegh Dich.’ “These are a mix of demos from Niger and some live tracks from touring around the world, when we were still working out the songs together as a band,” says bassist and producer Mikey Coltun. “These are fun and different early versions of the songs.”

Today, you can listen to ‘Nakanegh Dich,’ which was recorded in Los Angeles with Rob Schnapf during sessions for the album. “This is Mdou’s very first time using a wah pedal,” explains bassist and producer, Mikey Coltun. “At some point, Mdou called Rob into the studio and asked him to control the wah with his foot while Mdou shredded a solo.”

This month, Mdou and band will embark on a North American tour, which includes headline shows, support dates with Parquet Courts, and an appearance at Big Ears Festival in Tennessee. In April, the band will travel across the pond for an extensive UK/EU tour.

Released last spring, Afrique Victime swept the Best of 2021 lists, attaining high placements from The New York Times, Pitchfork, The New Yorker, The Guardian, NPR, Rolling Stone, Variety, Esquire and many others. Moctar recently made his TV debut as a guest on PBS Newshour. Yolanda Be Cool provide the party in their Carnival-inspired Sweat Selects mix

by the partae February 23, 2022
written by the partae

STREAM YOLANDA BE COOL’S SWEAT SELECTS MIX ON APPLE MUSIC

The ‘Sweat Selects’ series continues into February, with Australia’s cultivators of dance Yolanda Be Cool dropping a delicious mix, available exclusively on Apple Music.

A cornerstone of the Australian dance scene, it wouldn’t be a Sweat It Out mix series without label favourites Yolanda Be Cool dropping by to lend their expertise in track selection and aptitude in providing the groove.

Yolanda Be Cool follow suit from the first two stellar mixes in the series, with SLUMBERJACK dropping an all gas, no brakes bass-infused mix journey, and Mell Hall presenting a 60-minute education into the world of disco.

With Brazil’s world-famous Carnival celebrations not taking place on their usual late February dates – Yolanda Be Cool saw this as an opportunity to bring the festival to you. In this ‘Carnival’ inspired mix, the duo showcase plenty of open-bottomed percussion, hip-shaking rhythms, and perpetual party essence.

On the premise behind the mix, Yolanda Be Cool said, “This mix was inspired to get your blood pumping and body moving as you head out on the streets of Brazil to celebrate one of the best parties in the world… Carnival in Brazil! Vamos Fiesta!”

Yolanda Be Cool have aspired to serve up a mix that would comfortably find its abode providing the sonic backdrop to the outlandish Carnival parades on the streets of Brazil.  Sprinkling plenty of South American flair throughout, the duo provide a tracklist that flaunts some of the continent’s most sought after artists such as PAUZA, Volkoder, and Paluma. Meanwhile, the duo look to some of the world’s most respected party starters such as Steve Lawler, Honey Dijon, Noizu, and Tommy Trash to keep the festival energy throughout.

An established household name, Yolanda Be Cool’s rise to the top was fast-tracked with iconic world number one and ARIA award-winning ‘We No Speak Americano’. The track kickstarted the careers of the duo, who have gone on to produce popular releases such as the ARIA Platinum-certified ‘Sugar Man’, ‘Soul Makossa (Money)’, ‘From Me To You‘, and more recently their 2019 hit ‘Dance and Chant‘. Their upcoming collaboration with Brazil’s finest DJ acts in Volkoder serves as an obvious inspiration for their ‘Sweat Selects’ mix, with ‘Work Your Body’ dropping Friday 25th, Feb. Pre-save here.

Yolanda Be Cool’s ‘Sweat Selects’ mix is out now, and available exclusively on Apple Music.

CAROLINE Share album version of ‘Dark blue’ Self-titled debut album out this Friday via Rough Trade

by the partae February 23, 2022
written by the partae
Praise for caroline“Bewitching debut from the London-based octet, blending string-driven Appalachian folk chants with spacious post-rock” – Uncut 8/10

“caroline provide an ideal soundtrack for the reflection needed to push forward again” – Pitchfork

“It seems no task is too ambitious for caroline right now” – Loud & Quiet 8/10

“This is a fitting soundtrack to the times in which we’re living” – Shindig 8/10

“Deeply emotional deconstructed post-rock with heavy doses of orchestral beauty… incredible” – Stereogum

Prior to the release of their self-titled debut album this Friday, London-based eight piece caroline are sharing the album version of their track ‘Dark blue’ today. An earlier version of the song introduced the world to the band when it was released in March 2020, and it was subsequently reworked for the album. ‘Dark blue’ follows earlier singles ‘Good morning (red)’ and ‘IWR’.

With a blend of slow-build guitar music, folk drones and uncompromising climaxes caroline’s unique combination of folk & Midwestern emo has a restrained, but breathtaking, power that have already gained fans at Pitchfork, FADER, The Guardian, NPR & BBC 6Music, were included in NME’s ‘100 Essential new Artists for 2022’, Paste’s ‘Most Anticipated Albums of 2022’ and featured by Stereogum as their first ‘Band To Watch’ this year.

‘Dark blue’ opens the album, and was written the day caroline’s founding members Casper Hughes, Jasper Llewellyn and Mike O’Malley first started playing together in 2017. Llewellyn and Hughes met at university in Manchester, and on moving to London invited Llewellyn’s old friend Mike O’Malley to form a group, rehearsing in the upstairs room of a South London pub. Yet as they kept on playing that hypnotic ‘Dark blue’ riff, it became clear that something altogether deeper was emerging. “As soon as ‘Dark blue’ became more structured, we thought some swoony violin would be good,” says O’Malley. To provide it, they recruited Oliver Hamilton, who had also had a stint on bass in their early days.

As the band’s sound kept expanding, so too did their line-up, eventually becoming an eight-piece completed by trumpeter and bassist Freddy Wordsworth, another violinist Magdalena McLean, percussionist Hugh Aynsley and flute, clarinet and saxophone player Alex McKenzie. By the time the cast settled towards the end of 2019, the songs too were expansive and emotive pieces, their rich palette drawing on a mixture of choral singing, Midwestern emo and O’Malley and Llewellyn’s roots in Appalachian folk.

Their debut album caroline was mixed by John ‘Spud’ Murphy (black midi, Lankum). On it, songs can cascade like an avalanche with the full force of so many instruments, squalling and rumbling on the edge of all-out collapse. At other times they slip back into impossibly fragile moments of quiet – a simple bassline or a rattle of snare the only sound amid a dark sea of silence. caroline know exactly the right balance between restraint and release. “Sometimes things sound much better when there’s empty space,” says Llewellyn. “Sometimes you might populate [a song] with too many things and forget that an element on its own is enough.”

caroline are:
Jasper Llewellyn – acoustic guitar, cello, drums, vocals
Mike O’Malley – electric guitar, vocals
Casper Hughes – electric guitar, vocals
Oliver Hamilton – violin
Magdalena McLean – violin
Freddy Wordsworth – trumpet, bass
Alex McKenzie – clarinet
Hugh Aynsley – drums, percussion

SEB RELEASES BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘F*** IT, I’M THE MAN’ OUT NOW VIA MOM+POP

by the partae February 22, 2022
written by the partae

PRAISE FOR SEB

“A perfect early summer jam”
The FADER

“The perfect summer song”
NME

“…bonafide lo-fi bedroom pop…”
The Line Of Best Fit

“A serious contender in a cut-throat industry”
Ones To Watch

Pop polymath SEB has just released his latest single ‘f*** it, i‘m the man‘, out now via Mom+Pop. LISTEN + WATCH HERE.

The LA-based artist has just shared the track on which the nascent pop artist evokes a home-fi spin on the 80’s Quincy Jones sound. The song follows last year’s ‘god of the sunsets’ single and the IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING EP, dual manifestations of his genre-eschewing sound that owes as much to Joni Mitchell as to Tyler the Creator (and the latter of which featured his breakthrough hit ‘seaside_demo‘). His diverse influences serve as a reflection of his varied background, coming up in Chicago after hopping between New York, Haiti, Oklahoma, and Miami, before making the move to LA to focus on his music career.

“This song is about standing on your own and living your life according to you and only you,” explains SEB. “After a blowout argument, I ended up having to permanently cut off family members who did nothing but tell me how much of a disappointment I was. In the chorus, I’m trying to be exuberant and confident but that’s only to mask the pain I’m feeling in the verses. From talking to people around me, I know I’m definitely not the only one who’s gone through this. I want fans who are living through that, to feel empowered to do them, regardless of what anybody has to say.”

The new single opens the door to the next chapter of SEB’s music, with a new body of work expected in the coming months from Mom+Pop Music.

‘f*** it, i‘m the man‘ is out now, buy/stream it here.

by the partae February 22, 2022
written by the partae

Melbourne is getting a new outdoor pop-up concert venue named Reunion Park. The new pop up live music and performing arts precinct will open at the beginning of March within the city of Yarra’s iconic Burnley Circus Site, only 15 minutes from Melbourne CBD.

The venue will host artists including King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Spacey Jane, Northlane, Wolfmother, BENEE, L.A.B and many more. The pop up will also feature a diverse range of performing arts shows including high flying circus performances, food and drink delights, and a programme of spectacular comedy shows as part of the venue’s Melbourne Comedy Festival hub.

Curated by Untitled Group and Velodrome Events, Reunion Park will be a celebration of Melbourne’s vibrant culture, providing a vital outdoor venue setting for artists and audiences to reunite and enjoy what Melbourne does best — Arts, Music & Culture. Concerts, day festivals and performing arts shows will take place from March 4th – April 10th.

“When we first conceptualised Reunion Park in 2020 we knew it would be a challenge, but did not anticipate nearly 2 years of lockdowns before it would become a reality or prove as crucial an event series for the Australian live entertainment industry. The project could not have happened without the support of the Federal government’s RISE fund, but equally as important that of Yarra City Council whose support of local and Australian artists has been unwavering. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to bring together such an eclectic program of musicians and performing artists, and play a part in helping return confidence in our industry that despite all odds, the show must go on!” – Chris Mitchell, Velodrome Events

Chris Mitchell (Velodrome Events) has been producing music festivals and performing arts in Melbourne since 1999, and was responsible for the creation of brands including early 2000’s underground beats brand Fractured, the award winning Red Bennies performing arts venue, Coburg Velodrome Events and Duke Street Block Party. He is a partner and creative director of recently opened Abbots Yard and soon to be opened Northcote Theatre.

Untitled Group is Australia’s largest independently-owned music and events company, renowned as the masterminds behind much-loved festivals Beyond The Valley, Pitch Music & Arts, Wildlands, Grapevine Gathering, For The Love and Ability Fest.

Legendary magic duo Penn & Teller perform at Arts Centre Melbourne in first ever Australian tour

by the partae February 22, 2022
written by the partae
Legendary magic duo Penn & Teller will bring their record-breaking Las Vegas live show to Arts Centre Melbourne from 14 – 18 June as part of their first ever Australian tour.
From humble beginnings busking on the streets of Philadelphia to acclaimed sold-out runs on Broadway to the longest running, and one of the most-beloved resident headline acts in Las Vegas history, magic’s legendary duo continues to defy labels – and at times physics and good taste – by redefining the genre of magic and inventing their own very distinct niche in comedy.
The lifelong friends – also authors, directors and documentary makers with a career together spanning almost half a century – are known for their unusual mix of mind-blowing magic tricks and comedy.
Their record-breaking Las Vegas show at The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino has an amazing eight wins as “Las Vegas Magicians of the Year” and was called “The single best show in Vegas” by the Los Angeles Times.
“I just love Australia. I learned to scuba dive in Cairns. I’ve eaten gelato at Circular Quay and enjoyed Shakespeare at the Opera House. I’ve scouted an underwater TV special near Melbourne, I’ve been bug-eyed at MONA and some of my dearest friends live there so it’s about bloody time we brought our show down under, don’t you think? It’s once in a lifetime! See you in winter! … What? It’s winter in June??,” says Teller.
The pair are the stars of hit series Penn & Teller: Fool Us! for The CW Network, on which up-and-comers and magic veterans try to fool Penn & Teller for a chance to star in the pair’s hit Las Vegas stage show. It  was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award and returned for an eighth season in late 2021. The Showtime series, Penn & Teller: BS! was nominated for 13 Emmys and was the longest-running series in the history of the network.

True pop culture stalwarts, the duo has performed in hit television shows including Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and The Simpsons as well as their own TV specials which have earnt them an Emmy and Writer’s Guild Award. They also share a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Their highly anticipated return to Broadway was the highest-grossing non-musical on Broadway for its entire six-week run. In recent years, they’ve become acclaimed documentarians with the BAFTA-nominated Sony Pictures Classic release Tim’s Vermeer, as well as producing the critically lauded feature The Aristocrats and the Showtime short The Gambler’s Ballad.
In 2020, Penn & Teller celebrated 45 years of their professional partnership.
Penn & Teller’s Australian tour will also take them to the Sydney Opera House (1 – 11 June) and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (22 June – 3 July).

“The single best show in Las Vegas” – Los Angeles Times
“The greatest performing duo in showbiz” – Jimmy Fallon
“They’re evil geniuses. Always amazing, always entertaining” – David Letterman
“The world’s funniest and most dangerous magicians” – Jimmy Kimmel

Tied Down

by the partae February 21, 2022
written by the partae
What is your name and role within Tied Down?

Hey I’m CJ, frontman of Tied Down

Where are you currently based?
Currently residing in the coastal burbs of Perth WA

What’s been happening recently?

Man, things have been crazy lately with non stop gigging for TD along with recording two new songs (still unreleased) and really just making the most of the time together and enjoying the ride!

Your latest single ‘Slow’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

I would say as a collective, we keep finding more and more definition in our sound with every track we release. In line with a stance of refusal to put out mediocre, run of the mill tracks, we’ve really taken our time to hone in on our style and put some deeper meaning into each track with ‘Slow’ being a standout in that category. We all seem to bring our influences to the table and really dive head first into creating a unique sound for Tied Down that resonates with our listeners.

How did Slow come about?
‘Slow’ was a super challenging and necessary track for us. I was in the midst of a pretty massive struggle with addiction and putting the boys through pretty harsh times. Music is just one channel that we use to rise above what’s happening externally. ‘Slow’ started the same as the majority of our tracks with Kado (rhythm guitar) showing me a riff and all of us jamming it a couple of times together. I literally just put pen to paper and let out exactly what I was feeling and I knew there was something special in this song. Once every member added their individual touch with their instrument, ‘Slow’ really made us feel at peace and at home with where we were all at personally and as a band. Super emotional but also with an underlying message of positivity was the ultimate goal and I think we really achieved that.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?

Our new track ‘Slow’ was recorded late last year. We went about it a different way with Matt Templeman taking the reins as executive producer. I think we felt the need for change and to work with someone who really engaged with us and Matt brought a lot to the table in terms of energy, music theory and constant ideas of how to get the most out of the track. Also a massive shoutout to Fraser Cringle for being the most badass drum tech there is and Simon Struthers at Forensic Audio for mastering the track beautifully!

How did you approach the recording process?
We recorded ‘Slow’ live at Hopping Mouse Studios. It was the first time we all recorded live tracking together and it made it way more intimate. The feeling of all being in the same room and feeling the same energy was far different from just walking in and performing our individual part and I reckon you can really hear that coming through the speakers on this track!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Lately I’ve been going through a bit of a soul search back to my influences of writing creatively so for me it’s Meg Mac, Miles Away, Slowly Slowly, Rufus and OG Silverchair. For current tunes in the car though, I’ve had South Summit, Dice and Joan & the Giants on repeat!

What do you like to do away from music?
Ahhh, a rarity! Some of my family recently returned from years of living in the US so reconnecting with them has been amazing!
Outside of that, heading down to the beach or park with my partner and doggo is always super relaxing and gives a bit of clarity.

How’s the Perth music scene at the moment?
Honestly, I’ve never seen a more healthy music scene in Perth. Every single weekend it’s a toss up between which show to go to which is the best problem around. Not only is the music amazing but the band personnel, crowds and staff at venues are so friendly.

The list of WA bands crushing it at the moment is through the roof which is super dope after what feels like years of being on the backfoot.

What shows do you have coming up?

Currently we have a few support gigs coming up at The Indian Ocean Hotel on the 25/2/22 and at Lynotts Lounge on the 11/3/22 before we have a bit of a breather. The next big one for us is a headliner at The Rosemount Hotel on June 11 for a not yet released single launch yewwww!

What’s planned for 2022?

We’re always looking ahead for bigger and better. We’ve got way more tunes set for release in ’22 and hoping to put another EP out by the end of the year. It would be fucking incredible to back that up with a national tour towards the end of the year but we’ll play that one by ear!

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Indian, hands down. Beef Vindaloo extra hot or absolutely anything that brings the heat.
In terms of hanging out, I seem to be drawn to any pub that the boys are at for a frostie ahhhhhh!

NXLLY

by the partae February 21, 2022
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

I’m currently based in perth, Western Australia

How did you first start playing music?

You know that song called “stereo hearts” by gym class heroes and adam Levine, well that song had a special place in my heart since I was 8yrs old, whenever it would play I would sing my heart out and I just knew music was apart of me and I was going to one day make my own songs.

What’s been happening recently?

I’ve been working on my ep and also planning out my next project, currently also planning on filming my first music video and filming some interviews..

Your latest single ‘I Know’ from your upcoming debut EP is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

I was influenced to make a song that gives you a similar toxic but empowering sound as the song “gangsta” by kehlani, it was played in the movie suicide squad, that song hit all levels, and I wanted to make my own version

How did you go about writing I Know?

I basically had thought about everything I wanted in my other half, whether I had it or not, and used the lyrics in a way to manifest what I want, I spoke of my needs, i spoke of my wants, I spoke of what I know, I just spoke empowering words into existence.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?

So I recorded this song 2 years ago, with my homeboy farai from urban soul recording studios (perth), I then left it for 1 year and a bit, I almost forgot about it but my friends were obsessed with it and kept insisting for me to release the track, so then I decided to get my homeboy dinje from sauna studios (also in perth) to mix/master the track for me which lead us to now, having the song completed finally.

How did you approach the recording process?

When it comes to recording I’m definitely a perfectionist at the least, when I hear something off, I can’t stop until I sing the right note that was in my head and at the time I was definitely in a toxic state of mind, so it was frustrating but It was really healing to record this track, I definitely had to try and master recording while also being too in my head, but I did it

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Im listening to a variety of artists at the moment, I’m always trying to gain more inspiration, some of the artists are M Huncho, Dutchavelli, Toosie, Kehlani, PND, Melii.. and way more but yeah

What do you like to do away from music?

I enjoy painting and anything art, I like to dance (not saying I’m good at it tho), I definitely love to cook, I feel proud when something tastes so good and I’m the creator of it haha

What’s planned for 2022?
I want to have released my Ep and a couple more singles, I hope to have released my first music video and maybe have a first live performance this year, it’s whatever god has planned for me

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Honestly anything to do with pasta and a beach, I’ll be there!
